TonyTones reacted to CptLoRes in NQ I am extremely disappointed with wrecks.
To use NQ's own words they want finding wrecks to be an rare and "exclusive" event. Because you know, this game already has so much general content that they needed to add something special for the hard core players.. sigh..

And to illustrate how bad it is. I have been playing the game for as long as it has existed, and I have yet to even see one of those fabled wrecks...
And then there is also the small problem of wreck value not even coming close to justifying the time and effort apparently needing to find them. And while the value of the new space wrekcs may be higher (to be confirmed..), it is a moot point if nobody can find them in any sensible way.

    You're not wrong.

DU desperately needs some form of exploration mechanic post-Demeter!

It's really weird to have this vast sandbox with so much focus on shipbuilding...but then there's not much reason to fly your ship except between your tiles and the market? This definitely needs tuning. NQ is tragically stuck in the past if they think this sort of gameplay will scale today in 2022.

TonyTones got a reaction from Verliezer in Waiting and taking the risk starting new projects/builds?
I too am waiting. I would like to make & sell ships but a few things prevent me from wanting to.

    -Element "stacking" seems random
-Voxel complexity seems out of wack and subject to change surely
-The economy is flooded with easy mission cash so it feels pointless to even sell something
    -Wipe maybe??
-lack of buyers who even care at this point

Most importantly, who knows how long NQ can keep the lights on.. Why spend over 100-200 hrs making something when they might just nerf it, wipe it, or close shop all on short notice.

They need us to build a fun universe to attract players but they are currently killing it

You guys are crazy, im making 1.6million ore per week from 14 territories. I’ve got like 9 mil stacked up, what in the world do you need more ore than that for?

The problem is the opposite, MU product too much ore.

Can we please address the notification system?

A super legate gets a notification for every calibration. This alone cloggs your feed to the point where you can miss important things like cores being abandoned. This applies to the super legates' own cores because its all the same feed.

The new mechanics will add to this. Please Introduce sorting and/or ignore to types of notifications so we don't have to spend so much time going through it or risk losing constructs. Thank you

Have you learned nothing in the past few years?? I don't understand why this keeps happening.. Does whoever makes these decisions have some mental defect which compels them to choose the worst possible option on purpose?

A short development history of the DU beta

    Problem:

Problem: People don't have enough construct slots
NQ solution: Virtually infinite construct slots
Actual solution: Create a way to repackage ships and store them, removing them from the world until made active again. Remove ownership of dynamic constructs which are left unattended in unclaimed territory for too long.

Problem: If we let people use lua to fire weapons, robots will take over the universe!
NQ solution: An endless captcha disguised as a gunnery module.
Actual solution: Restrict certain apis to user input driven events. Develop solutions to detect macro usage.

    Problem: Industry OP
NQ solution: Break every single factory in the game, hold them for ransom until people magically come up with the money to buy schematics
Actual solution: Energy system, and a much less imposing version of schematics

Problem: Somehow, we can't seem to balance PVP quite right... hmmmm whats missing?
NQ solution: PvP AlLoCaTiOn pOiNtZS l0l??????
    Actual solution: Energy system

Problem: Warp travel shouldn't be free, or nobody will travel conventionally
    NQ solution: Warp cells
Actual solution: Tie warp to an energy system. Make designing a ship for space warp challenging. Make initiating a space warp cost energy and come with a risk.

Problem: Hey this guy is initiating warp too quickly with lua!
NQ solution: Remove ActivateWarp() from warp drive api
Actual solution: Interdiction modules, tractor beams, warp disruptors. Increase the time it takes to initiate warp.

Problem: Oh no!! Our cloud storage bill goin cuhrazy!
Nq solution: DELETE MINING ON PLANETS GGRAAASGGGHHH
Actual solution: Decay terrain modifications outside the build zone of a static core.

Problem: We need to communicate more to find solutions that players agree with!
NQ solution: Swear we are going to do our best, but instead, huff paint with homeless joe in the back of a denny's and make more asinine decisions
Actual solution: Learn from your mistakes. Humble yoself. Discuss, review, and REVISE plans with community input before developing them

Problem: There are too many claimed territories!
    NQ solution: Territory taxes
    Actual solution: Energy system

Problem: Oh no!! We made it so that construct slots are virtually infinite! People have too many construct slots!
NQ solution: Arbitrarily remove random constructs belonging to people who have too many
Actual solution (still): Create a way to repackage ships and store them, removing them from the world until made active again. Remove ownership of dynamic constructs which are left unattended in unclaimed territory for too long.

NQ, Seems this is not well thought out as you see from everybody's reaction.
If you are going through with some sort of variation of this, AT LEAST give us a Core deconstruct option that deposits materials and components of the core into the linked container.

    Thank you

Every single time NQ does a dev post like the one announcing these changes, no matter what you guys do afterwards, it's too little too late. People have already walked away and will never come back. You guys really need to consider what you communicate in these dev posts beforehand, as it's pushing players away. Permanently.

What I can't figure out is who at NQ came in one morning saying:
    - "Hey guys, I have a great idea! We're going to set up a mechanism to limit the number of cores for orgs based on the number of members".
    The others retorted:
    - "That's a damn good idea! Let's go with 25?"
    - "Are you sure that's not too much?"
    - "Bahh, they're going to bitch about it anyway. We're already developing and then we'll see."
    - "You're right, we'll make a post and put something else with it. Something good. For example, the fact that we're removing the stacking of the elements."
    - "Deal!"

This is going to backfire and drive players out of organizations because they will not want to share their limited construct slots with an organization.

The organisation itself has 0 (ZERO !!!!)
This means that a player must first "give or sell" places to the organisation, only then can the organisation go through many players up to the corelimit mentioned.
A player will therefore become extremely important for organisations that want to build large projects. At the same time, solo players will be punished extremely severely, as an organisation no longer offers core places and you only have the places of your character.
@NQ-Deckard Should I start tearing down all my buildings?

The asteroid spawning is entirely automated. It got interrupted by a situation which was supposedly impossible but is not. We will sneak in a patch at next minor release to prevent this from happening again. Meanwhile this was manually fixed and asteroids are spawning again, yay.
