    They spend too much time listening to the PVP orgs and less time actually fixing the garbage floating around the world. They wont even give us a way to salvage it.

    Bring on the asteroids- bring on the mayhem! BRING ON THE FUN! The only consumption I need is of all of Alioth's ore to build my empire on Madis and among the stars! In the short time i've been defrosted I've seen wars, org theft/upheaval, player made content with racing, player made quests, and now a  casino situated on a novian run/built station in space- all in less than a year of being dethawed from the ark ship.
     
    The helios economy hasn't existed long enough to even be alive yet, it's just an infant still. Give it time to grow.

    Oh, another one of the presidents rants? How quaint! While I think you're being pedantic I shall indulge in your trife discussion.

    1. That'd wretched Link Container function, why must I always press CTRL+I each time to link to a container properly? Also, why must I change my linked container option in the trade window? *sighs* just let me be able to use BOTH containers? 
    2. People that complain about schematics. it only takes 100 meganodes to pay for warp beacon schematics/production, with 8ish hours to mine each- that's nothing! I blame the president of Alioth for not forcing Aphelia to sell it at cheaper prices- he is in cahoots with that evil AI.
    3. The docking system (and ship physics)- seams like every update I'm sent on a magical journey to find out how they changed their inertial matrix calculations and docked constructs.
    4. Alioth. It's no longer needed(along with any presidential candidate that may be in power) due to all the ore being mined for said warp beacon schematics- see above.

    That just about covers it, really though all of our issues can be traced back to Alioth. Without it the servers would run so much better!

    Unless your org somehow manages to never sell or buy anything outside of the guild ever then we are all capitalist in the end because $ is needed to move anything along in this game.   However in the management of each organization the question is which style are people using.  Democratic, Socialist or full blooded for the people Communism(tm).  Or even independent where guild cohesion breaks down to at best a simple cost reduction for goods and services.
     
    Some guilds may start running their operation one way and a patch comes along and makes it impossible to continue that way, forcing them to switch gears entirely.  You could write a novel on the changes that happened with our group on Madis after some madman pushed a factory wrecking patch out.

    Comrade Snipey I'm glad we never tried any of this socialism they are all arguing about here in this thread.  As we found the true path to greatness for our org was through Communism.

    Unbelievable complaint. I have never, and will never, concern myself with anyone that has 10 accounts, much less 20. Let them no-life away.

    you say it's pay to win like this, but what do they win? Being rich at a game where  there is literally nothing worth spending it on other than building materials to build things that almost nobody will ever see or care about?

    DU is an impressive and beautiful game in it's best moments. But there is absolutely nothing to win no matter what you pay.

    If people exploiting loopholes and oversights to get rich is the issue here, fear not, people have been doing that since forever and those that wanted to get stupid level of rich have already done so and secured that wealth for eternity.

    You're missing the point. This mechanic is pay to win. People with one account don't even have that option to do something that is *boring*. Hell mining is boring but its not possible to make 180 million from mining in the 120 minutes that you calculated.

    There's a wide range of what 'indie studio' really means. People talk about 'III' (triple-I) studios to distinguish between well-funded studios with some AAA experience and "actual" indies with little or no budget. 
     
    NQ is clearly a 'III' studio by that definition -- normal indies don't get over $20mm in investment for their first-ever project in game dev. 
     
    Compared to the big players in gaming, however, almost everyone is some level of "indie studio". 
     
    EA could easily throw $1 billion into a massive MMO project. Hell, they claimed $1.5 billion in income from a one-time tax benefit in 2020 alone.
     
    Activision could throw a billion into a big project and it would barely dent them. They make nearly a billion in micro-transactions each quarter. 
     
    All this being said, NQ made their bed. They decided to scope the project as they did.
     
    They don't get to complain about being "so small" just because they decided to rip off a lot more than they could chew. It is their project plan!
     
    They should have built the plan with their resources in mind instead of scoping it according to some dude's completely random vision -- and it was completely random, because JC had no experience in game dev. His ideas about scope are as informed as my drunk roomate when they talk about "you know what would make a great game...?" 
     
    The fault is on NQ's board and investors, too. Don't throw money at random PhDs with a tech prototype and hope that it will translate to commercial success.

    It's also interesting to see how, as reality catches up wit the excuses, NQ tends to just all out go after the ones pretty much making the case for "the truth points to itself"..

    There was a running gag here and on discord about DU being a "small indie studio please be gentle" for a long time when the game first went to open beta.  Every time people got angrier the phrase got weirder.
    "We are small indie studio, please be patient"
    "We are small family restaurant, please be patient"
    "We are just 2 guys with a hot dog cart, please be patient"

    Seems like they back to rectuitment to compensate stream of run-away people.
     
    2 weeks ago it was DevOps Eng (oouch), now is Level Disign Scripter (?)..

    Overall it means (I think) Nick not closing shop yet (as some more drammatic people here suspect). Extent of painful road ahead and what changes game will experience quite unclear tho.

    Their own info on this site states they have 94 empoyees. So all this narrative about "small indie studio, that can't spare a man for anything" sounds a bit cringe.

    This video actually gets into the reason you need P2W and F2P together. Just thought it was interesting as if NQ is having problems more than likely that is due to needing more revenue.
