Iorail got a reaction from GraXXoR in Graphics settings GTX 1060 3gb
I use this card currently with specs a little lower than you except for RAM which I switched to 64 GB. It makes no difference, I have everything disable, FOV at 75 (any higher crashes the game for me) and both shadows off. If I change any of the above the game becomes laggy and my PC starts a small fire and the hamster running it comes out and yells at me ?

I would for sure at least to 16Gb, I just did this myself from 32Gb to 64 Gb but I live stream from the same pc, it made a huge difference. Also you VC is very close to mine, I’m thinking on updating that also, for me, but not to the 3070 that just came out, hell no lol, so I would update the video card on your PC as well, Good Luck ?

If your PC can’t handle the upgrades, you may just need a new one, fyi

Iorail got a reaction from Shaman in New Docking mechanic
There seem to be a lot of confusion on how docking works now due to recent changes, so I will explain how to do it and the conditions necessary for it to work:
We will call the bigger ship Parent, the smaller core Child.

-Core has to be at least one size smaller.
-You can’t use the maneuvering tool at all to guide the Child to dock it into the Parent anymore. Using the maneuvering tool will cause your Child ship to “fall off”, most likely blowing your Parent ship and killing you. It has to be flown in after you potion it with the maneuvering tool.
-You have to physically fly and land your Child ship onto the Parent ship,
-Elements from the Child ship can’t be touching your Parent ship, with the exception of landing gear or voxels. The Child ship will not dock even if you fly it and landed, this includes the core.
-When using landing gear, this has to be positioned all the way at the bottom of the build box. (New, from Ligator)
-The Child ship can’t be heavier than the Parent ship, I would stay at least 10t under.
-Make absolutely sure that you land your Child ship completely (speed is at 0 and the landing gear is touching, all of it, or your voxels are completely touching the Parent)
-You can use a remote control to fly it to your Parent ship and docked it on top, no sides or underneath (Thanks Emptiness)

This is all we have discovered so far, in case I missed something, I will update this post. If any other changes happen, we may have to rewrite this again. Enjoy everyone!

You are trying to fight on the wrong front. PvP in its current state is a disgrace, and future PvP works is at the bottom of the road map, maybe 12 months from now if they can get everything else ready. I have said this, again, 2526 times on the other threads that you could have posted on, PvP’ers are in for a huge surprise if they get the entire game to open up to PvP minus one moon. There isn’t enough PvP’ers to support this game financially and PvP is not the game, it’s 1/4 of the game, why do you think all the PvP updates are at the bottom of the list..........

Now,  let’s indulge your fantasy for a minute. They open everything to PvP and you confine everyone else to one moon. The lag will be phenomenal, to the point that they will start bleeding subs. They have to provide a place that people can use to build if they choose, fly and test their ships if they choose, without been destroyed the second they enter space.

If you can counter what I have said with a solution on how the 7 of you plan to support the game financially for the years to come, I will never post on this forums again, otherwise, I’m not interested in your destroy everything mentality.

It doesn’t matter what the PvP’ers want or what the PvE’ers want, it all comes down to what generates the most money for the game so it can continue to exist. If the PvP’ers are getting bored because people are staying in the safe zone, fight each other, stop trying to force everyone to your play style. End of story. Now, just opening a PvP thread every few days is not going to change anything, could have posted in the other 2625 threads about this that already exist that sank to the bottom of the forums for lack of interest.

If you have played for 3 years like the rest of us, you should know that the negativity is frustration about the NQ development process, ignoring user feedback and then having to watch them back-peddle with quick-fixes that degrade the overall progress.
Or in other words, the complete opposite of what NQ promised the process would be like in the Kickstarter campaign.

At this point the NDA is a mood point as we are already talking about it, so here it is.
NQ didn’t listen when people told them to remove the bot orders from the get go, they left them on soft beta release. This in conjunction with leaked information on the location of wrecks (very unbalanced and unfair) and leaked information to a selected few on other matters, including but not limited to ore locations and prices, lead to an unprecedented rush that made a few people extremely wealthy by day 2 of soft release. Now, NQ claimed that some of us where exaggerating the amount of wealth and made a vague statement claiming it wasn’t much and everyone was going to be reset to 50 million. What NQ didn’t say was that they only accounted for the Quantas and not the assets (and that I can prove, as my assets weren’t touch), couple with, yet again, more leaked information to a selected few, made some stack up on billions of hard assets by day 4-5. So they took the money sure.....they didn’t touch the assets, meaning some had enough factories, equipment and everything you can think off to play the rest of their lives without a care. Add that money was also moved prior to the cap to alts and players (50 million a piece), and some people having 6-10 alts, well, you do the math.

Now, with that say, I could care less about the above statement and if I can say it or not, at this point it doesn’t matter cause NQ can’t penalized me for breaking anything when they are completely back peddling themselves. So, consider this my last meal before I jump ship for better seas.

    Failed experience. Let's move on.

At this point NQ should scrap everything, close the beta. Persisting will hurt more the game.

Go back to a closed alpha without NDA. Because that NDA is what misled this game: small echo chamber with a few people without fresh ideas and fresh opinions from the outside world.

Do like Starbase: don't invite people to a closed alpha simply because they give you money. Invite people who are constructive and actually test and brake stuff.

Whats really funny about this is that NQ has lost the trust of its player base, I dont know if that can ever again be regained.
The schematics are just one problem, they say that Tier one schematics should not be that expensive, well, if you want to build a factory to make just containers, that is a simple thing and requires NO TIER TWO ORE OR PURES but yet the large container schematic is 42 Million, WTF is that, what a lie, I did not make 42 million since the beginning of beta,  though I did make some really nice ships. However that is now ALL GONE, 3 crashes against some a-holes platform that just happens to be in route to the marketplace or 3 clips of your wing on the damn light poles on the edge of the platforms and you have to completely remake the ship, oh and that is ONLY if the core did not get destroyed as if it did you have to completely rebuild the ship. Oh yeah and wait, since you cant save the core and it will say you are not the owner all the parts whether destroyed or not are equally screwed. So yeah, you have completely lost my trust and my subscription to your game!!!  Why dont you just call the game Miner Town

That's hardly fair. Industry was one of the few enjoyable aspects of this game. So it made sense for players to concentrate on that while waiting for the game to get a more complete loop and content. This is also why the player backlash to 0.23 has been so massive when NQ in their infinite wisdom decided to nuke industry from orbit, before they had added any alternative and enjoyable activities to the game.

A monthly subscription for DU before 0.23 was already a hard sell, and after it is more or less impossible to justify.

IMO NQ does not actually know or understand why the economy is not starting/working. I expect the reasons are exactly where NQ dares not go or act which is the big orgs who have all but excluded themselves from the game as a while and just live inside their own bubble, tending to their own exclusively.

With their actions being geared towards solo or small group players using markets which are not fed by the big orgs, NQ pretty much forces players to join existing big orgs as even trying to form a new big org wil not yield much results due to the massive wealth and advantage already built by existing orgs through the by now well known methods which are no longer in place while the yields of those were allowed to stay.

There really is only one effective option to resolve this and NQ brought this unto themselves by not using it two days after the pre-beta wipe when they found out about several ways these orgs were taking advantage and having access to warp, AGG and territory scanner used to find and sell T4/5 ore to bots to amass massive wealth and stockpiling assets using that wealth within days from the wipe.

Find another game(s) to play for a few months and check back on DU in half a year. It's what I've decided to do. The current game just isn't worth wasting my time on.

I dont get how people cant see this splitting the community. One of DUs good points is the voxel engine. Even with the limited creation tools we have now, people are still making impressive ships and structures. If all someone wants to do is build cool stuff, what reason is there to interact with the rest of the community?

And this thread doesn't even cover the fact that they mentioned adding instances PvP arenas where you can fight without putting your ship on the line. Thats honestly an even bigger blunder in the single shard mission.

I would say the opposite, let's hide the game under a rock until it fixed so it has a chance once it is worked on. People will not play what it is now. Getting people "back" is much harder than getting them "in".

Let's not. We have too many players for the game to handle now. Once it's feature complete and optimized would be a good time to promote more heavily (I don't have an opinion as to whether steam is a good way to do that.)

The wrecks were community designed ships and the one that was worth nearly 100M was apparently made by someone in our group.. His massive ship had an AGG and 12 AG pulsars plus a whole bunch of gear that you could repair with scrap and take home. LOL.

Yep. The nonsense I describe in this post is still going on nearly 2 months later, injecting quanta into the economy without purpose or end. Bot orders should scale to a weekly average of player orders, not be a static price floor/ceiling... Bot buy orders for steel honeycombs are still at ~360q apiece, driving hematite prices to 34q/l and the other t1s to 24q/l+ thanks to the t1 component bot buy orders.

They said it was to save face. They only shamed themselves with their reaction.

QFT. I'd try my hand at building ships but the building system is still woefully inadequate. I'm not spending dozens of hours learning 'voxelmancy' when a decent editor or even importing models from Blender would be lightyears better.

The game sorely needs ship based mining solutions. Sitting and staring at a meganode auto mining / clicking every 2s for hours on end is not good gameplay and was starting to cause Repetitive Stress Injuries before I quit.

Thought I would write this up before I leave, If anything for NQ to take as feedback/criticism.

The game is nothing like it was advertised, or made out to be, Which ultimately after 3 months, still is nothing near it, as such I feel really really played by NQ here. Was promised a blank canvas instead, Hundreds of Industry parts were injected into the game, was promised a player made economy, Instead Bots were put out and 100k quanta daily given out....

Played through the server downs, and the server ups, But all this game is, Is a mining simulator, and for those who stick it out, then yes you can build something for an hour, before you go back to mining. There is NO value in anything you build here, and most fixes end up breaking something else...

I'm leaving out of pure boredom, I had high hopes for the game, based off the good advertising given, NQ released a broken Alpha, and made out it was a beta, and it still isn't even worthy to be deemed a "Beta release" at this point. Things are still broken, RDMS is like a win 95 firewall system, that's over-complicated with not enough organisation logging. The skill tree is pretty much just a basic form ripped off EvE with no real optimisation to any of it, and no real value in it, until you hit level 4 in a tree, but no real motivation to go to lvl 5...

There is no ai missions to do, to fill the gaps when standing around twiddling your thumbs waiting for parts to refine/produce. The graphic options are really really lacking, like not at all what you would expect from a Beta release, the options your allowed to tweak are more what you would expect within the first couple patches of Alpha, That being said, the general graphics are run server side... Which is awful for client optimizations. There was no difference in FPS between having an 12 core/24 thread cpu, and a quad core/ 8 thread cpu which confirms the optimizations are done server side, rather than client side. Although good in one aspect, this has been proven time and time again to cause more issues through out the gaming world. All the worlds are barren, apart from Alioth/Sanctuary and Teoma, The rest are just Ball objects given very little colour, with hardly any textures on it.

The way NQ have handled some players also was a HUGE turn off for me, Like Ban people for desecrating a marketplace in a sandbox environment, due to their own RDMS mistake, but haven't banned known exploiters/griefers - That to me tells me the integrity of a company, and as of this current point, unless there is some real changes done, I wouldn't pay the subscription cost, and had I known all this beforehand, I wouldn't have pledged...

The PvP is also just an AFK simulator, You sit in a seat, staring at a pop up modal with two or three buttons to click... There is no excitement, no challenge, no skill involved in this, The overall UI and UX, sucks badly with literally no changes done to any of this in three months (Not even a small tiny bit), there are still game breaking bugs, yet NQ think it's great to not even add half of these onto their "Known bugs" list. They force the game to run/play in admin mode, which is a serious security issue and isn't needed... and while some of this is still rampant, they release an update adding emotes into the game...

The LUA coding has no documentation behind it, no API and is heavily restrictive, yes you can log the space in a container, but if you want to log what's in the container, you have to have 1 item per container, which overall causes more code to be run putting more strain on things... (To name one of the things)...

I personally feel at this stage NQ have got their priorities wrong, and have taken a lot of people for their money through over-hyping and false advertising, You can't even call this a game at this point in time, it is still very much Alpha. The overall playerbase has dropped significantly from Beta launch, and primarillyt because of things outlined above, some of which still have not been sorted.

With all this in mind, I have had an overall "Pleasant" experience, although as time has gone on, and not a lot being said, other than asking people for feedback, I won't be returning back to this game for a long time, it is currently a 50% mining sim, 40% waiting around sim and 9% of actually doing something, with 1% allowance for whatever...

I still hope NQ deliver on what they promise, but If I don't return before the beta key runs out, I will heavily consider whether or not to subscribe to this game and give even more money to support this, My overall opinion, Is that NQ are trying to make a platform to sell on to other developers, rather than actually making a game for their customers, and this shows in the serious lack in attention to detail particularly around the UI/UX...
