I think JC was pissed off that the goal that “challenging game” which would take “potentially months to reach the stars” was effectively completed by someone who got to space in, iirc 15 minutes. this is a miscalculation of a factor of 5760.... (15 mins vs 2 months — 60 x 96) so he has erected multiple barriers to slow things down. One being the requirement for cooperation.

Yes dealing with desubs will have to be dealt with, but all they needed to do at this point in the “Balpha” as I like to call it, is lock players’ accounts. mid be mighty pissed off if I found someone was playing for free even though they unsubscribed after the first month and I had a paid for a year’s sub. parity is often more important to customers than absolute cost.

I agree. The lore sucks goats. Who are we paying? Why do they need our money. I hate bots with a passion: we’re basically paying magic potion NPC BOTS for stuff. Just like players being able to disintegrate megatonnes of the finite ores week by week by selling them to NPC bots and removing them from the market, ultimately fucking everything up to the point where PvP is ENTIRELY superfluous in terms of resource sink. personally I think they could have just made all the industrial machines more expensive from the start with high tiered machines being geometrically so. Then make researching the schematics a thing and allow groups to use or sell schematics and allow schematics then work for a whole factory by placing them in a central industrial schematic manager or something. what is the physics behind schematics only being able to enable bolts or magnets on a single machine. Thoughtless immersion breaking reasoning. very poor effort considering JC has a PhD. Although that may be why he left academia in the first place, who knows.... ... harsh, I know, but the lack of even basic consistency or even any robust logic in some cases would not bode well for someone in any sort of critical analysis or research field.

Every single planet has the same day/night cycle and apparently seasonal cycle, too. it would be nice if the planets rotated. Then we would get moon rises and moon sets, too. unfortunatley, this is no elite dangerous where every planet and moon’s orbit is simulated.

My ships don’t sink through, but unless the platform is absolutely level, they bounce around like they’re having a “special moment” then slide off with zero friction. not can take 30 seconds or longer for the ship to come to rest. And even then it might not actually be docked. but this was before a couple of recent small patches. One which fixed my blueprint blues. So maybe it works now. Who knows....

I haven't seen any signs of life from NQ or their CMs regarding anything in that thread for aeons... I've stopped reading and contributing. I don't even have enough interest left at this point to even theorycraft anymore. The cynic in me says they look at ideas and players' deepest interests and desires in there and JC uses those hints to design ways to impede players' progress in those areas, since interest in a game leads to playing, which leads to progress, which leads to fervent players doing stuff faster than JC wants, which leads to nerfs. Thus JC looks there first to determine what NOT to introduce.

QoL stuff like this has been asked for since literally the first iterations of the game. But no joy. The game is almost as barebones today as it was a couple of years ago when they introduced industry.

It’s funny seeing new players make these *exact same posts we did* years later and the points still completely unaddressed. They just started playing but already realise it. It’s like Groundhog Day all over again. Besides the unfortunate schematics and triangle cockpit glass, how has DU actually changed, really, over an entire year? An entire year.
