  1. Joined in the first Alpha played hundreds of hours with and even was interviewed by the mouse @le_souriceau himself for his gazette back in the early days (under a different name) and I honestly thought this game had hit the sweet spot, but then it all just went to shit after 0.23 hit and combined with a total lack of progress, nay intermittent downgrading, the game became all but pointless. Only a single member from our org of about 50 players still plays anything more than the skill queue mini game.

such a shame. I still stare at all my old screenshots from the NDA Alpha period and reminisce about what could have been.

  2. It's this kind of complete apparent lack of interest in fixing not-apparently world-shatteringly-difficult UI issues on a regular basis that makes me believe that NQ have really not got what it takes to run a project at scale.

In the time I've moved away from DU and started playing Stellaris, there has been regular changes in that game including a substantial paid DLC which I bought without hesitation since it added some cool new gameplay. While there are still some longstanding problems with that game's UI and minor game logic problems, most seem to get fixed.

And I've been playing NMS, too...  There were two patches IN ONE DAY on the 22nd of July: one for PC and one for Console, fixing critical issues in their excellent but free Endurance DLC.

I believe they have just recently expanded to 26 employees in total in order to develop out the new Nintendo Switch version of their Game.

The Nintendo version is to be added to their roster of supported platforms which currently comprises: PC, PS4, PS5, XBone, Xbox X/S!

    Absolutely phenomenal efficiency.

Here is their major DLC release history with almost weekly quality of life improvements and bug fixes coming in between.

NQ need to take a look at these two companies' methods and learn something about "proper" game development.

  3. That’s a lot of effort to waste on a forum post that will have zero influence, sir. But if you have the spare time, more power to you.

I have said this before but there is clearly zero point in writing pie in the sky wishes in these forums with any expectation of change.

  4. Just read about the new schematics.  Unbelievable. Yet more Aphelia centric nonsense.

basiclsly a new sneaky, convoluted form of tax.

I just can’t get over how poor the design decisions are.

why not do what other games do and have a research and technology tree?

maybe even a physical lab or something tHa T you have to build and expand that sits somewhere in your org. Stellaris and Cyberpunk demonstrate two different methods of tech progression trees.

each org should be made to research the new tech with higher level or more specialized and esoteric items getting progressively more difficult.

that will force orgs to specialize in different trees by making total research time equivalent to a decade or thereabouts.

clearly this is just off the cuff

but it already sounds more interesting and strategic yet less cumbersome and Aphelia centric than the ridiculously convoluted and completely lore-and-physics-free method proposed.

I just don’t understand why EVERYTHING needs to rely on Aphelia.

what the heck  happened to player agency?

For every XL engine you add, you can take about 2-3kt.

Whatever the number is for your engine type, handling and pilot talents, it scales perfectly fine to 3, 10, 20 XL engines.

I am in no way able to reproduce your issue.

I know they introduced XL containers an XLX containers a while back but when did they introduce XL engines? We certainly need more L and XL components like wings and ailerons.

  6. Haven’t been following much recently, too busy playing Star Citizen, NMS and Stellaris,  but let me get this straight:

NQ now not only have a monopoly on the market places, with bots on markets to sell and buy goods and ore etc, shops that sell ships, hard to reconcile tax bots that somehow disable player creations instantaneously and remotely, bots that give and accept missions but now they also have a new centralized “exchange” for showing players’ creations?

in addition to the curiously misleading name, it seems player agency has been nerfed yet again by a well-meaning but poorly implemented waste of player potential.

Tell me again, what part of this entirely designed by players game is entirely designed by players?

... just a few hardcore players who ...snip... are here to watch it burn and just want to add more salt to the ocean...

    That's not how fire works.

As far as mixed metaphors go, I think we have ourselves a winner. LOL.

But yes, I meet far more players on the forum than I do actually in game.

  8. If you search the forum you'll find your suggestion has been... erm... suggested before.

This suggestion was made just over a year ago and in much more detail... And that thread itself was actually a compilation of some even earlier threads by myself and others dating right back to the alpha...

NQ have shown zero interest in improving this aspect of the game...

    My summary post:

Am I the only one who want an XS Space fuel tank? I'm fed up of having to cart a massive barrel of lard around with me just to use Vertical Thrusters.

Also, while you're at it, could I have some super cool XS hover pads... Maybe half the size and power of the current ones (say 2 x 2 voxels or something)  so we can put one front and back or on each corner of a transport and not have it look like a meth cooking-spoon?

This would be great for some truly minimal, and maybe even speedy, personal transport!

    XS size components

    — XS Size space fuel tank

    — XS Size hover engines

    — XS Brakes

    — XS Space Fuel Tanks

    — XS Rocket Boosters

    — XS Space Brakes

    — XS Control seat for motorbike like constructs

    M Size

    — full sized M wings for M construct.

    L size components

    — L Ailerons and Compact Ailerons

    — L Wings

    — L Stabilisers

    — Full sized wings for L construct.

    MOAR XL size components

    — XL Atmospheric Engines

    — XL Hover Engines

    — XL Vertical Boosters

    — XL Wings ailerons and stabilisers. etc.

    — XL Cores? YES PLEASE.  <--- This is apparently beyond the capabilities of the devs and has been explicitly stated will not happen.

I don't think that they will finish star citizen anyways. Like most the Kickstarter projects, Star citizen is just dream selling. How many years have they been doing this game? Did they present something really huge and innovative?

Funny then howcome there is so much more to do in  that so-called ”dream selling” game than this one?

That’s why I’ve been spending my hours playing that and NMS and have put in a total of less than 10 hours this year into this game, (about 2 days worth of Star Citizen)

say what you want about that game, the progress profile is the opposite of DU.

in DU the first three years showed promise but ramped DOWN to the current barely moving pace  whereas SC hardly changed for five years and now there are new features almost monthly with large quarterly content drops and the pace is ramping UP and UP.

If I were to spend any more money on either game (I’m not but if I were) I know which one i’d feel more comfortable backing.
