  1. Actually. There's a bunch of ways how one can "join" ships if the engine is realistic. The easiest part would be, to lodge a hook through a ring a few times, then to enclose it. In theory one ship should probably pull the other ship along. And both ships shouldn't budge ... so there's no collision damage created. One could use this to "take up" an container load for example, if it works. And drop it, by simply destryoing the ring/ hook area. Escap epods and stuff, will be simply ships that either hide behind some kind of doors and then accerlerate and navigate on their own. When somebody steps into them and activates them. Based on a few things. One could even make a "fake" mech move his arms. Just hook something up to it, add lots of LUA code and enjoy it going from side to side, waveing at your potential costumers. But yeah ... we probably wont get true rotational elements. Might just be too much for server load.
  2. If you can programm it in LUA or into a Webpage. You can probably use it ingame. Minding that the Devs might disable some stuff or make other things easyer. LUA is reaaallllyyyy flexible.
  3. Remember ... this is pre-alpha. It's by no means a finished game, to be played for playing sake. Expect bugs, crashes, tight shedules for testing ... etc. If you're fine with that. Jump on. The deal is quite nice. You get a year worth of sub time with the DAC + all the time till it actually realeses and the goodys.
  4. About blueprint rights. The last game i knew that had trouble with thiefs copying stuff. Handled it pretty simple. When you buy a blueprint. You can use it and modify it to your liking. Then put it up again for sales. Now someone buys your modified blueprint of "Space Truckers Delight Mk2". 12% of the Blueprints vol/ Objects came from you. 59% from someone else and the others where split about a bunch of other guys. Because the blueprint, when placed ... would remember the parts and who made them. Regardless if copyed or cut out and pasted. The money from the sale, now gets put into the hands of people based on the % they attributed to that blueprint. Yes someone could rebuild it 100% by looking at it ... but they could just make one themself too and possible sparetheself of devs deleting their stuff, if they do that to much. What did the % Ownage solved? Someone that put into work, always would get money from anything that used his works. From candlesticks that you made too castles or wall segments. Surely, a candlestick wont amount to much % wise if someoen decorated a house with it and sells the house + candlestick. But who would pay alot of ingame ressources for a single candlestick ... The same for scripts. If someone makes a script and uses a other script which is for sale as it's base, all people will be attributed to its sale based on contribution. That method is alot easyer then denying re-sales and other things. Well scriptwise, these should have the option to be "non-editable" purchases too ... it's a bit easyer to copy + paste down a few code pages and resell that as their own.
  5. Anyways ...i think we should stay clear of copyrighted stuff. Or atleast make it only slightly resemble it. Why would you make a spaceship enterprise ingame here ... if you can just do that in a single player game too. Faster and easyer. Without the fear of deletion of 150+ hours of work. There's alot of things one can take artistic inspiration from. Just don't blindly copy it ^^. I take my inspiration of sci-fi ship artists too sometimes. Specially these one, as they gave me a good idea how my transport ship will look. (if i ever get enough ingame time to actually make it happen) I loved the idea off unsymetrical spaceships .. since starwars 1. This one has a interesting feral look. I by no means will copy these, but ideas like the general shape. Leg apendix and other things. Can give a builder quite alot of inspirations. Credit to some neat artists! And if you recognize it ... the last one is from the Prometheus Alien movie.

    Bike seats

Neat idea. Not just a backdrop seat, but mor eof a biker seat. Could make alot of fun hover bikes :3. And probably shouldn't take too much dev / artist time. The easiest way would be to just make an slim objet, thatlooks like the seat of SirJohn's pic. ^
  7. :3 I started learning LUA for this too. Javascript came to me for the game called screeps. Check it out. It's always good to know more languages. And java isn't so different from LUA, after learning a bit more LUA.
  8. ;3 no worrys. But this isn't a star citizen. Not to dizz them. But the CEO wanted 4 games in one game. With the prettiest graphics ever. What he made were these 4 games in the end. Scrapping one or even two of them. And fucking over the maingame, as the engine isn't meant to handle more then a handfull of players and ships at a time. When your engine is meant for FPS shooters ...solo ones. It's not the best idea to go MMORPG with that. Dual has some promising ideas and concepts. And one can see the devs are working on things. Just check back next year. Probably will be around Alpha/ Beta if lucky~
  9. :3 @Vengorin @all others Don't buy into a pre-alpha if you just want to play a game. Pre-Alpha or Alpha in general is more ... well a testing enviroment. Bugs. Patches. Breaking Stuff. Lots of hair pulling moments. And a good amount of fun, people will miss out. But mostly just sometime to mess with things, before the actual game takes shape. And some chances to ask questions or bring in ideas, that might be good. Check, trello board for that. So i you can stand a tight shedule (mostly thursdays) and can stomache lots of despair. Go ahead. 180 Bucks is a good buy for the stuff you get.
  10. Just had to point out ... your Avatar is supremely overcrowded with animations xD.
  11. Hey, a question about the meetup at gamescom.

Will we get the info about the time it starts and end soonish?

I want to know if i should get myself a hotel/ youth hostle room or if i will just go back to the trainstation and travel home.

    And prepare.

I will bring presents, i hope.

  12. Both games you mentioned are really not fun, if you like balanced playstyles. And non-pay-to-win. Sadly there's no good and free mmorpg to play out there. Arguebly some older games still run strong, which went free to play without supreme pay to win shit. But the mmorpg market is quite ... dry. It's either WoW Clones, WoW clones with pay to win, Super Grindy and Pay to Win or Unbalanced as hec + unfun. A few good mmropgs that COULD be good ones they realese would be: - Fractured (Free to play, with premium stuff to ease your life. Like an npc that automatically pays and works your house. So it doesn't decay when you go on a long holiday trip of a month or so.) - Ahses of Creation (Sub, probably) - Crowfall (going to be free to play, with a premium option that isn't pay to win) And naturally Dual :3.
  13. Guys stop necroing this old thread over and over again, while we don't even have any new information on it :3.
  14. They said summer. Which is from 21.06 to 23.09 + a leeway of "we need a bit more time". So anytime between now and then. With a low chance it only hitting us on december and a more then average chance to be august.
  15. Just nice to see Landmarkians in this game. I will know from whom to steal voxel libarys on sweep exchanges. Haha.
  16. You will be in the known. Just not as much as an real investor or someone with certain power in the dev studio. Atm we're getting quite a lot of info given to us. Something could go faster, but we're not on a dry spell here. (pleaes roadmap , pleaes with a cherry on top :3 ... i'm starving for that) As i am an Investor in another game, by a small amount thanks to microinvesting. I can say, that an Investor Update is mostly the same all over again. - This is our expenditure - This far are we in development - This is our problem database - Expected realese date closer/further away then previously stated - Lots of reasons why These informations are at most time super duper driple NDA covered. For a good reason. The main reason we don't get perma update on the state of the game atm. It has an negative impact if one cannot deliver on promised dates. People wil flame and negative PR will spin up in the deepths of the web. So developers are carefull what they say to normal backers. (We can't have nice things cause of idiots ... it's just the truth. I have seen games fail, cause they where to open with information and negative PR stuck around... even when all problems where solved and the game kicked off well. In the end it costed them their lifeblood ... new influx of players.) We all could ask NQ to open up an foundraising of small time investors, off 250 to 10k bucks. With nothing to give us, except type 2 stock in the company + the information feed it would bring. I have seen two games, that gotten a few million that way. And at somepoint in time, one could sell their part of the company to someone for a profit. If they ever get there. Or convert it by right into real stock, when it goes into the big open stockmarket.
  17. Chicken or Egg. xD You can't have one without the other. Something came first, but they're a pair bound together. Surely they can try, but i guess it's not on the priority list yet. Rather would like to see the server running smoothly after the update ;3. But yeah, flowing water would be cool... I could make a pool, fountains and stuff.
  18. If you ever automatically poured docents of buckets of water in minecraft, you know that it burns servers. And voxel water burns even more. ^^ But i guess, a makeshift "non flowing" static water might work as "ressource that is mineable too". Keep in mind, that they didn't want to give us transparent blocks ... for reasons i can't remember but most likely are "server stuff". I had a demo of that voxel water, the real flowing kind, once seen at gamescom ... it looks pretty and is crazy fun. But imageing the server room lit up like a christmas tree which got to close to the sun xD. @Aron Cain Pumps don't need water. A simple visual effect will do, even if you place them into the desert... they just condense air humitiy with ... magic and science!
  19. ^^ When the game is at the beta stage, acttually yes. Not now ;3. @DarkHorizon
  20. Yup, that old post gives insight. But sadly not much of an final answer ^^. But it's good to know.
  21. Cause you need alot of people + good cordination skill + math. If you want to use many ships well :3. + Having more Voxels as Armors and More elements as damage soakers, make big ship less likely to die. And easyer to fix in battle.
  22. Don't ask to fix something that is not broken xD. If you don't feel inclined to pay money for an DAC to get rid of what you don't want to do yourself. Do it yourself and have fun at it. Someone will find it worthfull and keeping supplying the market, as long as enough interests meet. PS: I really wondered already about just one thing. If someone places a DAC into the market, will it be physically present in a container too? Thus lootable? ( sorry if i am spamming you two guys, but you're the best shot at getting an answer without makeing the NQ staff read my wall of text before it xD) @Mod-Meldrik @Mod-Merwyn
  23. I guess we will get liquid handling someday. But keep in mind, that it is a bit server intensive. One reason games like Landmark had fake water ... and when you build into it, you had an submarine undergroudn base with water in it. And who wants a lake to swim in Zero G ... that's a death trap right there.
