  1. But since it is not specified, it is all guesswork. And in the M15 case one of those vague rules was used to permban based on ingame character actions so.....
  2. Let's not drag M15 into this thread also, but yeah technical dept is a thing. And DU has it in spades, as I have tried to point out since well.. years now.
  3. Some of use are very outspoken about all the problems in DU. But at the heart of it (for me at least) this is because we actually care a lot about this game. Broken pieces and all there is a core of greatness in DU that can truly turn into an epic game on day.
  4. But. now.. they would not.. they could not.. it would be.. ohh nevermind. They probably did..
  5. Is NQ the game devs or not? If the data needs a certain reference, then recreate that reference. The real reason NQ is mad, is because they where caught with their pants down. And it created more work in their already busy schedule. But that is their problem, not ours.
  6. I have no problem believing NQ did in fact design it so that all the trade data would be lost or un-referenced if the in game item was removed. There is ample (NDA) examples of them previously doing basic design flaws like this. And there was no way the players could know this before hand when they started tearing down the market.
  7. So to summarize how I perceive this after all these posts. A. If Aphelia (NQ staff personification in game) did mess up RDMS settings, and it was really just a matter of pressing B. Then I think it is no different then emptying a player base with wrongly set RDMS, and there should be no punishment. In fact it could be considered the MMO heist of the century, and the stuff legends are made of. So NQ should have played into it, and used it to add some meat to the game lore. B. If some kind of exploit was used, then there should definitively be punishment. But since historically these types of exploits have been ignored up until now, it should not be a permban. I am pretty sure that if NQ had set a precedence for punishing exploiters earlier, this would not have happened as it did.
  8. Exploring holes and tunnel systems are exciting the first couple of times, but since there is nothing in them it will quickly wind off. The rest quickly becomes a routine chore instead, and after a while finding a new mega node is pretty much the only thing that is remotely exciting. And extracting the ore from a mega node is boring (pun intended) as hell.
  9. The number one problem here is that RDMS bugs have been reported multiple since the very beginning of beta, and nothing has happened. The second is that NQ has not taken punitive actions against well documented cases where people have exploited these bugs. Market 15 is basically someone lashing out trying desperately to finally get a response from NQ and some action on the issue.
  10. Out of context? How do you consolidate saying there will be a wipe because it is still beta with " So you can continue to dig, to build, to invest and it is not going to go away"? And regarding safe zones. It would be pretty weird spending all that time and money making a voxel based MMO, and not even cater a little to those pesky "builder type" players.. PvP is dime a dozen, and it is the building/scripting part that makes this game into something different and interesting.
  11. The chances of that happening is very small. You are much more likely to get a client crash/disconnect while flying and total your ship.
  12. Direct quote from JC in interview. So NQ has made their bed, and people have made plans and actions accordingly based on this promise. A wipe after this statement would be catastrophic, and could only be justified by an actual make or break situation for the entire game. And granted he is specifically talking about Alioth here, so there is some wiggle room for other parts of the game. But it would hardly be fair if players on other planets got wiped, while bases on Alioth stayed put. Here is a link to the part of the video where they discuss this topic.
  13. With more cargo weight, you also need more space thrust to be able to leave atmosphere without having to resort to costly rocket boosts.
  14. Yeah, same with mining sounds and underwater background noise etc, they all tend to get very annoying in the long run. So at this point I pretty much play this game with sound turned off.
  15. As a backer you did not buy a car. You financed the development of a car, with the hope that it would one day become a great car.
  16. Yes, I have to agree. Being a backer is not the same as a normal subscription. Being a backer is about being willing to supporting the development financially to increase the likelihood of success. So the game would have to be radically different (like completely different or just a plain scam) from what was presented to backers, to make a case for a backer refund. Subscription refunds on the other hand..
  17. So like if T1 bots where gone today, where would money actually come from? T1 bots (and daily 100K) is the ONLY money source in the entire game. So without T1 bots the total amount of currency in the game would be locked and stationary at current levels. Meaning players would be stuck just trading the same money back and forth (with the expected results of rich getting richer and poor getting poorer etc), and for every new player joining there would be less overall. That is not how economy works, either in games or RL.
  18. Try pressing shift while placing the voxels.
  19. So considering DU has been both delayed and rushed at the same time, that makes it.... ?
  20. Especially frustrating when as mentioned in another thread, NQ actually display triangular glass at the district exhibitions.
  21. I would have been fine with a reset at the beginning of this soft release 'beta'. But after JC publicly promised no wipe or Alioth reset, I have proceeded accordingly and would seriously consider if I would bother continuing at all in this game, if there suddenly was a wipe now. NQ made their bed, and now they have to lie in it.
  22. Context here being a game where PvP equals combat. So if in doubt, always try to apply context when trying to compose a smart answer. And if you think my tone is snarky, it is because I find it hilarious having a PvP'er complaining about loosing stuff. Just try imagining how players who are involuntary victims of PvP feel then.
