    Hey everyone,

I just found a new youtube interview with J.C.
I didn't see this posted on the forum yet so I thought why not share the joy with everyone.

    Have fun.

    Mhm yeah, cause

No one has to balance all the small ingredients....
No one has to write that building tool....
No one has to think of all the elements needed.....
No one has to design said elements....
No one has to write that "automated magical machine that spits o it your gun"
No one has to work on additional elements
No one has to work on rebalancing broken elements
    ...

Mhm, quite easy. It "just" works....

It sounds like a great idea and would help all organizations small and large by being able to contract jobs out that you cant preform your self or don't want to but still need to get it done ! I see mining already be a big one with some organizations focusing on jobs and skills other than mining and don't want to spend many hours doing mining but need the materials from mining.

They have not released a lot of information on the contracting and rights part of the game so it might be possible that NQ has already thought about this but just have not released more detailed information on the subject?

Expansions : Water  =) if they can make water work in the game then that has a potential for water worlds which would add variety in the types of planets we could colonized plus under water bases and cities seem like it would be cool to have !

I guess a alternate would be if we could not build in the water you could still make a planet with lots of islands ?    =)   just saying !

Yes I agree ! I am a very private person my self and the fewer people that know a secrete/information the less likely that information will get out !  I'm also suspicious about people and programs wanted my private information !

No reason to give someone free info about my profile. Yeah it's public anyway, but I don't trust them in any way - they could just use that data later on for other stuff. Better to force them to write a scraper which does that, so they have to work for it at least.

And yes this suspicion is only because I would do that lol

Your right its all tied into each other if you are not successful with your economics then you will probably will not have enough : materials , money , man power , or influence to fuel your war machine to conquer the galaxy if that's your thing !  *wink*

My personal idea of game play style would be to control big features of the galaxy through economics and influence !   =)

that would be really cool. like guild tabards in wow, have a set uniform that you buy and it switches to the guilds design. altho I feel like character customization is not going to be a huge deal in a game with no 3rd person.

Yeah, I would suspect that economy is going to be a more important part of the game than PvP.

Same answer here as in that thread.
I won't use such a system at all and everyone participating in PvP shouldn't either. Plus it can be abused, even if it's a voluntary checkbox.

Fame, renown and skill masteries don't need some lame certificate system like in any random game out there (eve, other mmos,....) - it's bound to people alone and socializing

GunDeva reacted to NQ-Nyzaltar in Paris Games Week 2017
    Hi everyone,

Unfortunately, the PGW website is correct: we won't be at the Paris Games Week this year

One of the main reason is the time needed to prepare a proper demo version in "local mode". Each time we go to an event, we have to dedicate a significant part of the team to release a "Demo" version of the game. As relying on a decent internet connection isn't realistic, it implies to make a customized version of the game to make it work with LAN settings. As you can imagine, it's not a trivial matter.

Making demo versions for Gamescom and PAX West was a necessity. However, it slowed down significantly for a few weeks improvements of the game itself. As we want to limit extra delays due to this kind of branching, and as presenting an old Demo version wouldn't make sense (because the game has progressed so much during the past months), we decided to avoid presenting Dual Universe at the Paris Games Week 2017 and focus on the game development.

However, we plan to organize an "Open Doors" event (less time consuming for the team) before the end of the year. We will announce it in the coming weeks, well in advance, to let interested community members enough margin to manage their time table if they want to attend this event.

    Best Regards,
    Nyzaltar.

Well, wether you like it or not, the "single shard" expression isn't born yesterday and hasn't been invented by us, as it has been used for more than a decade in the video game industry, and has been widely spread with EVE Online.

Edit: According to wikipedia, a "Shard" can be used to designate a database architecture OR a game server (which can be hosted on several computers).

Hey GunDeva. Sorry. I posted my response after a long day and I was tired. I agree with your points here. My point is that that is redundant when a civilization would have the technology to draft creations, like we have now. What would be more likely going out collecting minerals and then creating/destroying creations until you get a final design, or just drafting it in a program until you get something that works on paper and then trying it out in the real world?

I personally like the idea of some type of creative mode but I have to agree that this should take place with in the game server with all the other players and not on a different server .
The easy solution for privacy is own a tile in the Safe Zone and then build a base or simple hanger that people cant see in and lock the permission so only you can enter it  .
You are still playing the game and being a productive member while maximizing your privacy, security and being able to build alone if that is what you prefer  .
    Just Saying.    =)

Perhaps you could hitch a ride aboard a freighter or something that will get you into deep space without much involvement on your part. Before you log off one night, buy a ticket, hop aboard the freighter, and log off. The next evening or the next day, log back in and see where you're at, hopefully you don't miss your stop!

I'd imagine the greatest risk is that your landlord gets into a fight with some other group and the "tenants" get caught in the crossfire. The landlord will always try to protect his own assets first, anything else will get protection if there's spare capacity.

Additionally, tenants are seen as legit targets, given that they provide the landlord with additional income.

I will not have a lot of game time due to work and family so I don't  plan on or want to spend my little game time  on DU mining for ore  but if I had a friend that could help me out with the resources gathering I would be will to pay there  subscription !

That and I despise some of the idiotic behaviors that "use-based skill systems" create.

Jumping and running literally everywhere to increase athletics. Yeah who really literally jumps up and down when going from place to place, that breaks the heck outta immersion.

Building a hyper-fuel efficient minimalist slow as heck ship so that you can maximize your flight time to increase piloting skill and... not actually fly anywhere for any purpose to grind your skill. That's just silly.

Digging random holes to boost mining skill. way to ensure every inch of every planet is ugly

Oh and don't get me started on crafting. In skyrim, having to grind iron daggers and dwarven bows nonstop to improve smithing was ridiculous. I don't want to be making nothing but steel doors and bonsai trees to improve manufacturing, or making tons and tons of concrete to improve refining.

I think our hope is that DU becomes akin to a cult...club, in that everyone pays monthly dues so that the club can operate. People that hang out at the club all day and night pay the same dues as the weekenders. The subscription is less about cost per unit of game time, and more about being a member of the club. A $15 club membership fee isn't unheard of. Gym memberships are a good example. Pay the membership fee, get access to the gym. What you actually do with that membership is on the member.

So far there or no wheeled or biped vehicles in Dual Universe and I am not sure if they will ever have them ? Not enough information has ben released on this subject so far.

I do have a idea for now if your interested and I have seen this in other games and maybe you have also : so far the only vehicles we have seen for ground use or hover vehicles so you could try something like building a hover tank and then designing something like a mecha upper torso on top.

    Necron Destroyer

This is what I could find quickly but I am sure you have a better idea of what I am trying to say and I  have seen other games that use hover style mecha's. Could be a interesting project for you if your interested?

The current game mode is a creative mode without the need for resources. NQ stated that blueprints from the alpha/beta will be useable at launch. This change would allow users to utilize the game engine without having to stress their servers. More bugs may be discovered in the engine.

Also, it would increase the useable time for building, which is the main feature currently available during pre-alpha.

    1) You can build on territory without claiming it. However, you can't build on territory owned by someone else without their permission.

    2) We have no information about the structure protection system, if any, so we really can't answer this question at this time.

    3) Playing solo will definitely be possible, but more difficult than playing in a group of course. However, how difficult is also hard to answer at this time because game mechanics such as the structure protection system play a major part in determining how difficult it will be to solo, and we don't know anything about that yet. Furthermore, keep in mind that it won't be possible to travel to another star system until some time after launch. At launch, everyone will be restricted to the starting planet Alioth, but you could definitely travel to the far side of the planet and build a hidden underground base that nobody would ever find.

Alternatively, you could simply join a major organization that doesn't have serious participation requirements, and then go play solo. That way you can use their name and alliances as protection from a bunch of players without actually having to play with anyone else. You can also use the RDMS system to restrict all your buildings and ships to personal access only, so you don't have to worry about your unwanted alliance mates barging in without your permission.

    4) I think my previous responses mostly answer this question. To summarize, it's too early to tell at this point.
