    Core Units simply start the construct. If you replace a Core Unit of another person with yours (of the same size or greater), their construct is yours.


    As for cities , that depends. Territory Claim Units may take a full day to deploy in full.


    But grand theft spaceship is happening indeed. That's why Ark Zones will make for great income for people who want to rent hangars to travellers to log out in safety, where nobody can destroy their ship's Core Unit.

    I decided to try to build a scale model of a 25cm Dynamic Core Unit this weekend, and because it's too late for me to go get the last few things I need to finish it up, I decided to post my progress anyways.
     
    This is just something for me to put up on my bookshelf, and I did rush through it (which is obvious), I see it as more of a proof of concept as I plan on trying to 3D print one in the near future. That depends on my boredom level I guess. 
     
    According to the Facebook post which accompanied the news about the Dynamic Core Unit, this is a 1 voxel sized unit, and is one of the components necessary to build a spaceship or hovercraft vehicle. 
     
     

     
     
     
     
    I started by cutting out a 25cm x 25cm square of posterboard, and tried to keep the various components to scale. I also found a handy calculator for handling the cone measurements that made things easier:
     

     
     
    I then cut out transparent sheets to help with the glowing effect I planned on adding:
     

     
     
    I added blue lighting powered by a 9v battery:
     
     

     
     
     
    And with the final pieces added:
     
     
                                
     
     
     
    I am going to finish up with some black and white paints, and sanding the edges to make them smooth. The glue on it needs to dry for a while now though. I'll post updates when I've finished all of it. I'll probably need to go through and fill the spaces with putty and those will need to be smoothed out with sandpaper too.

    We have another ship design for you today: the Valgard Class. It is a compact sub-FTL fighter meant for dog fighting situations. Primarily designed for taking out other small craft and targeting turrets on larger vessels.

    Personally, I think that they should just remove these posts flaming about said sub model. It would solve a lot of problems.

    First I pick a role for what I want to design, then I look at concept art from the game to see if there is any useful information to be gleaned. Then I decide on what class (size) of ship that would be fun to think about fulfilling chosen role. Bust out the pencil and paper, pick aesthetic for hull, draw, at least two angles very rough interior overlay showing potentially where you want things to go. Speculate about the thrust capacity of titan-class engine elements. Add in cool features, while hoping that the elements required will be actual things in game. Refresh the Dual Universe youtube page, twitter, and devblog, and forums out of hope. Speculate some more. Wildy speculate otherwise known as day dream. Come back to reality. Use the blank space on the paper to define how you want your, mighty starship/meek unassuming freighter/mech battle suit/magical unicorn merry go round, to move and why, add appropriate elements.  Then huzzah! It's a thing potentially capable of coming to life(ish) in DU. But I am sure there is more I could do...

    You lead your Organization.
    You own the space you claim.
    You make the laws.

    You punish those who break them the way you want to.
    That's it.

    As for a jail system, eh, I don't know about that. Keeping players in a cell for long periods of time would just make them less inclined to play, just remove their respawn rights and give them the death penalty! Much simpler and more effective.

    Well, the point is, comparing Star Citizen and DUAL is like comparing an apple with an orange. 


    Each game caters to different things. DUAL focuses on creating your ships, creating everything in the game world, from cities to armies and fleets. Star Citizen caters to space simulation fans, with some weird dogfighting auroras and dogfighting wayfarers.



    It comes down to creativity for DUAL and Second Life in Space for Star Citizen.

    Welcome to the forums Mafoon!
     
    I would definitely favor having conveyor systems throughout ships for the reasons you mentioned. Just adds a new level of functionality to ship building and thankfully that is what is planned.
     
     
    I know that you can resize voxels dynamically so you would probably be using larger hull blocks for a capital ship, although you can still use small ones for detail. 
     
    I've seen that there will be large scale industrial elements for constructing blueprints but after just looking around for info I can't seem to find anything. I just hope to see appropriately large shipyards for building large ships.

    One thing I'm wondering is: does gravity have any influence on constructs at all? Why are the hover elements even necessary if there is nothing to pull you hover bike down to the ground. 
     
    And if getting to space requires research of more powerful engines, doesn't that imply that gravity is the limiting factor?

    In the past few days I was looking through all available information about Dual Universe. Now I hope I am ready to discuss about the game and present my point of view in a number of topics.
     
    However this post should be just an introduction so… who am I?
     
    My name is Paul, but you can call me Skimus I am Control Engineering and Robotics student from Poland. I also work as a programmer, but unfortunately I only develop software for microcontrollers and do not create virtual universes
     
    As many of you, I am kind of fascinated with the idea of “boundless MMO”. On the other hand, I know how difficult is creating a game, when you have more ideas then resources. I suspect that compromise is already a big part of unpleasant reality for developers. That is why I think that most of my ideas, which I am going to share with the community, will be as much down to earth as possible.
     
    But well… you never know where your imagination will take you right?

    From what we can see Dual is not a block building game but more of a voxle sculpting game. There are still blocks and stuff you can place but it seems more that these are just the tools you use to get the shapes you want into the game instead of the only things you can build/place.

    Interesting. As others have pointed out you will likely need other organizations, to officially recoginze your authority. Many org's already have plans internally for their own legal systems and constitutions.

    Do you want to leave Dual Universe open to piracy and lawlessness?  If not, help me out and draft some laws!  Together, we can help make Dual Universe a safe place and give players the in game safety they deserve (or help give space pirates have the true piracy experience they deserve...).
     
    If this sounds interesting to you, join the organization "Dual Universe Supreme Court (DUSC)" and start submitting your ideas.
     
    If you have a legal inclination, apply to be a judge and help settle disputes between players, create contracts, and provide other legal services for players who need some financial security in their Dual Universe experience.
     
    If you have an organization bounty hunters, join up and be ready for some fun hunting as a Primary Select Enforcer (PSE).

    What do we hope to achieve?
    We hope to be the first to explore the unexplored. We achieve this by combining the skills of skilled engineers and talented designers to craft a highly technological spacecraft to survey and study the undiscovered pockets of space.
     When we manage to discover these new pockets of space we immediately setup beacons and allow our Far-Worlds division to start construction of our Stargates to open up that sector of space to every civilian.
    What does the organization focus on?
    - Opening new trade routes -
    - Spaceship development -
    - Industry trade -
    - Contracting services -
    - Technology advancement -
    Diplomacy
    We don't want to have any strict laws that bide you from having fun whilst a member of Novacore but we will have some rules(list coming soon) to create a safe and respectful environment for all its members.
    We are also open to alliances with other organisations, please contact DarkNovation if you are interested in what we have to offer.
     
    What roles do we offer?
    To achieve our goal we have several different decisions that make up Novacore:
    Research and Exploration - As a member of this division you will embark on the maiden voyage in our Hi-Tech research cruisers (Plans coming soon) equipped with FTL drives to begin our explorations. This role involves surveying each system entered, from planets, moons, sun size, any life sustaining planets, identifying warp points around celestial bodies and placing Stargate beacons to await the arrival of our Far-Worlds construction division to construct the Stargate.
     
    Far-Worlds Construction - The purpose of this crew is to use large industrial jump carriers to bring supplies and workers to distant worlds were no civilisation has been established. The main purpose of this fleet is to create the Stargates so more vessels are able to enter the newly discovered sector. We also use these vessels to assist in the creation space stations and planetary colonies.
     
    Novacore Spaceport - Exploring uncharted space doesn't come cheap. To solve this issue we use our technology and design department to develop ships not only to further our goals but also develop ships for civilians and private contractors. The ships we can produce are of the highest quality and are all equipped with our latest technologies.
     
    Miningcore - The Miningcore was setup to allow for the income of ore and other materials to supply our Spaceport and Factories. Members of this division use our mining ships and large transport freighters to collect material from asteroid belts and gas clouds. We also have a division that works on the surface of celestial bodies extracting materials located on various worlds.
     
    Processing and Development - This division is were the construction of our factories are commenced. We use these to turn the minerals obtained through mining and refine them into usable materials. We also use the factories to develop parts and technologies from the technology division in our Spaceport. These are then shipped to storage houses and our trading outposts with help of our logistics carriers.
     
    Defence Division - This division hosts all of our security crew and ships. Whenever an exploration expedition is planned to commence we will send a defence squad with them to make sure no entities attack the vessel. We also have mercenaries for hire open to assist other organisations in their endeavours.(Note - We only allow our services for protection and don't wish to be involved in bounty objectives)
     
    Marketing and Trade - This division is were our logistics takes place. This is were we use our industrial haulers and carries to distribute our ships from our spaceport and goods and tech from our research labs. We also setup trading outposts after we construct our Stargates in each system allowing for easier trading between allied and neutral corporations.

    I'd like to see sandstorms that are so thick that they block out the light and are visible from space.
     
    Something like this would be awesome to experience in DU, and I can't think of many (or any) games that have this:
     

     
     
    I'd also like to see Thunderstorms and Snowstorms, though I don't know if the engine would support "real" snow and rain, or they would just be textures. 
     
    Would storms have an effect on players/ships/etc?
     
     
    I'm not asking for real-world modeled weather patterns, just the occasional random storm and perhaps natural disaster, though I guess natural disasters are a whole other topic.
