  1. Welcome back mmtheboss. Hope this time we get to see Void League being ran properly without having to result to the problems that plagued the previous organizations. It would a be shame if it went there. But regardless, welcome back. Looking forward to seeing Void League prosper.

The following info can be found in the Sep 24, 2016 Kickstarter AMA Event Video: (Without getting into the whole biased PVP/PVE off topic debate I'll just give you the answers that came straight from JC) Answer at 9:56 into the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efu_129hI9o&t=596s Question: Damage: "What will the damage model be like? Will collisions damage ships? Will weapons blast holes in the voxel structure or will ships just have a health percentage? Answer: That way damage is gonna be implemented most likely in construct vs construct, is that we'll use the fact that every voxel is editable, so you could actually "edit" a hole in it. "an area of destruction." So we will implement a way to select the place where you want to shoot, then you shoot. Based on stats and other skills and the type of weapon damage that you use and the types of protections and the type of materials and all sort of things, there we'll be an amount of damage that happens to the ship. We may try to aggregate the overall level of destruction to give you a visual feedback so that you have an idea of a percentage of destruction, but it would be purely informative. Things will actually be destroyed, or things will be deactivated if you loose an engine or if you loose a certain weapon. It will just cease to be operational in your construct. So this is aiming to being very realistic. What we want to have is that collisions between constructs will actually create damage, we could do it technically, but the idea that in terms of gameplay, we don't want people to build some kind of torpedo ship and just slam ships over each other and I don't think this is going to be a great addition to the gameplay but it will certainly be a great addition to the load on the servers, so we favor, rather than that, we favor missiles that will formally be implemented and that will not actually involve physical objects flying. But again the usual "lock and fire" mechanism with the stats behind the scenes." See @supermega's answer above.

  8. To be honest, I totally agree with this statement. If the Player Contracting System is done perfect, there's really no reason to have also a Bounty Hunting system. I'm sure NQ is looking to making this happen... ~(°-°)~ But yeah, Full fledged contracting system should cover that too...   10. That's an old Kickstarter Update: don't expect actual Release on December 2018. (This is logical with any development - things get pushed back - as have we seen already with Alpha) This summer (soon^tm) we'll get the Road Map which will give you a better idea when we'll be seeing release...   12. But in regards to the topic... If you want an anti-tu device, you should get to the tiles you want first and set up a TU of yours. In this case, an overly complicated system is not needed. You need competition to get the good spots... Otherwise you'd have people running around placing ATUs everywhere just to troll. Cheers, Comrademoco

We have for the moment no plan to have food introduced at release, but rather in a "survival" expansion that would come later. These are all excellent ideas and we will consider them, but not for the initial release, but more in the "survival" expansion that would come later. We will add simple fauna at start, and we will gradually add more and more content along the line of PvE, but the more substantial activities will come from players themselves: building stuffs, participating to building stuffs by helping secure areas, explore to find minerals or artefacts/ruins (more about that later, it will be linked to the uncovering of new Safe Zones).   18. I have no idea what you guys are on about FTL and Stargates but, I feel like I need to revisit the answer I gave in regards to the topic from the OP... What part of PvP matters in this game? To be honest, it really depends on what you define as pvp; combat? social? physiological? industrial? market? In the case of combat pvp and being safe, well that horse has been beaten to death and back to life to be once again beaten do death once again, over and over, but seeing the latest news regarding ASA and MSA zones, the answer to this question is relatively simple... Yes, you can be farming -hypothetically, since there's no farming in du- and see big ships flying above you making you feel small, and not being threatened. Is it possible. Yes. But honestly, it doesn't have to be just ASA or MSA zones. The universe is vast enough that there will be places that can or wont represent tactical or resourceful advantages to any organization. You could -in theory- set you "farming life" there and be safe without the worry of being threaten. Rises the question, for how long though? I don't know, months, years, decades? In which case it would be time to move to another place and set up again. Nomad life. (looks at NQ-Nomad :P) But Comrade, what's the point on all this wall-of-text? Simple: There is none, there is no point,. "There is no secret ingredient ~ Mr. Ping. Kung Fu Panda" as I don't know how the universe will be once is has been fully developed. You carve your own story, your own path, those choices will lead you to any kind of pvp, combat? market? social? Like in real life you aren't always safe, you cant always be safe in DU - regardless if you're in a safe zone or not. TL:DR; What type of pvp maters in DU? Depends on how YOU define it and what path you carve on your story to define that pvp. Will you be safe? Maybe, maybe not. Does it matter? You define that! Cheers, Comrademoco

  22. Honestly, just let it play out and see how it all goes guys... Cause of right now, you're just going to keep beating the horse over and over based on theories, beliefs and wants... Will pvp be as bad as some are making it to be? Who here really knows for sure? Legitimately. Who here 100% knows what the universe is going to evolve into? Or at least wait until NQ releases the devdiary/blog regarding griefing, maybe it'll answer some questions, maybe it won't... Again, the main point being, we don't know for sure what the universe will be down the road. Just ponder on that. Cheers, Comrademoco

Emergent Gameplay: "Complex situations that emerge from simple mechanic interactions" As many stated DU is NOT this first then that second... Whilst a simple headline - like the one used above as an example - can lead someone to believe DU will be a building game first. You have to understand the whole in order to understand the meaning of what that headline means or is trying to portray... So what does this mean? Well, it means that during the first couple of months, maybe even years, the primary focus of the emergent gameplay maybe be building... and not in the sense that everyone is making it to be but as building (the process of creating - not physical items - but the emergent gameplay that will play the bigger part, of the later years of DU) the universe. You can't have warfare, politics, trade and pvp without having built the emergent player driven universe first. And sure, that building process can even entitle physical building of constructs as part of the building process of the "emergent universe". So again, while that headline in the website says "Building MMO" understand the context of it: DU is a "Civilization Building" MMORPG. What emerges from that... it is up to the players to decide when they interact with the simple mechanics of the game; trading, building, exploring and warfare. Who knows! Maybe it'll be more building of constructs, maybe the clashing of big empires and alliances, maybe it'll be a universe run by pirates full of pvp... The point is, we dont know what DU will be in the later years... we have to build that emergent universe ourselves and see what it turns out to be. Cheers, Comrademoco
