But you dont play DU, you play SC?  Judging by your social, you havent played DU in years. I just dont understand how anyone could spend less than £100 on something and then feel so entitled that they continue to slag the game off for years after they stop playing it.  Get over it dood, move on, leave us players who are trying to make the game work to deal with it.

    Dear Noveans,

We would like to address the recent speculations that have arisen in our community, and openly disclose some changes that are happening at Novaquark.

First and foremost, Novaquark continues to be supported by its long term investors to allow it to launch Dual Universe in line with its original vision. It also puts us in a position to attract experienced talent to complement the team that’s already in place so that we can continue to improve the game.

Next week, we will share with you what we think our priorities should be for Dual Universe and how we hope to approach the development of the game with improved processes going forward.

An important change to note is that Jean-Christophe, the founder of Novaquark, has transitioned from the day-to-day management of the team to better focus on his position as a board member. Over the years since the creation of Novaquark, JC designed and set the standards for the structural and conceptual foundation of the game, and he feels now that a solid base is there for him to move forward as a strategic advisor. The recent changes in the administrative presidency of the company only reflect the transition of JC to his new role. We’re excited to have the team he has built deliver on his vision for the game.

Rest assured that Novaquark’s future is in good hands, and there is a strong partnership between our long-term investors and our team. We believe that the future is bright for the game and for the company, and we cannot wait to tell you where we want to take Dual Universe.

    With our warmest regards,
    The Novaquark team

He ripped off his business partner Mar, the guy who taught him how to play.

I lost all my ship parts, all our schematics and the majority of our industry.  He deleted his discord and all contacts. This guy talked highly of Mar.

Mar had been out of the game for a month or two due to real life issues.

I talked to this man almost every day. He suddenly will change on you for no reason. He was alone and had no one to play with so we let him join. He was bringing a lot to the table (with alts and talents and a t1 parts factory). We decided to trust him. There was no inclination of this. This was I am sure a spur of the moment decision made by a greedy coward.

We are a small organization of 2-3 people. We are nice guys. I frequently help out new players, ask around.

This guy flies around in a shitty blue box because he cant do voxels. His industry setups are garbage as well.

We are all incredibly stunned. Just yesterday we were chatting friendly on discord he seemed very happy. I was gone for 2 days because of work and when I came back I guess he snapped or something.

We all have a reputation. Stealing in real life is frowned upon.  A video game doesnt make it any more acceptable to do something like this when you get stabbed in the back for reaching out to help someone.

I don't understand why you're saying me agreeing with you is a contradiction, followed by just regurgitating what we've already agreed on, is it for the sake of getting the last say? Not really sure here.
This has little/nothing to do with the quote "MMO development is never finished". This has to do with how they've labelled the game (alpha vs beta which varies drastically across the industry) and are behind on the roadmap, not the quote.

You're not reading, suggesting I think things I've explicitly said I'm not and are strawmanning. There's no point in having a conversation like that, so I'm done, thanks for the convo.

Yes. I did. My opinion hasn't changed
    -  -> With enough people and lag tolerance, you can do this.
    - Solo players are a thing, you can function as a solo player. Note the difference in scale referenced in the kickstarter that you just quoted, multiple people will always be more efficient than 1.
    - Missions, AvA & player markets are literally coming
    - The markets are a mess but bots & schematics are not the reason why (if anything the lack of buying bots is part of the problem), specifically there's an oversupply problem and no item sinks. Schematics are there to remove some of the currency in circulation from all the oversights to date - it does that. It's not my preferred solution but I can't say it doesnt do what it's there to do.

I'm not going to slam NQ for the basics that they have delivered, but I will criticize implementation. I'm digressing from this convo, it's run its course.

I don't and never did disagree with this. I agree and I highly doubt DU will be polished & "full" release ready in 9 months,  I'm especially concerned about AvA/Territory warfare being implemented but if they can fix the netcode to work smoother, i'll have more confidence.
I'm not going to speculate on the backend work they've done with their netcode, reducing the backend call frequency was a bandaid - I'm skeptical that's all theyve done given the improvement from Beta launch.
This isn't true, the Dec 23 Look Ahead again covered what could be expected this year. How that aligns with the road map is another story (specifically it doesn't), which goes back to the first quote.
Except this is again - objectively true. Elite dangerous only just released odyssey for Alpha after releasing in 2014. World of warcraft is still revamping and introducing systems, and in the last few years completely redid the games graphics - and it's ancient. "MMO development is never finished" is a true statement as long as they can sustain business they will continue development to retain player interest, MMORPG's are pretty much the originator of games as a service in that regard.
Fundamentally  I agree. There's a broader lack of coherence in the gameplay loops, and contradictions in how game mechanics have been implemented.

Transparent =/= consulting players in a round table meeting. It means being clear about direction which happens in their "Look Ahead" series. Like the level of detail or not, it's about as transparent as things need to be.

As far as community consultation is concerned, that's what this is for:
    https://upvote.dualuniverse.game/?order=new&filter=all&tag=#controls

As for the kickstarter, no point in being salty over it. The page is very explicit about the game they were developing, the game mechancis and the risks. And aside from territory warfare and AvA combat, literally every game mechanic that was listed in the kickstarter has been delivered. Even with the caveate that:
Development of a Dual Universe Secret: Participate and work with us on one of the secrets that Dual Universe will contain (the team reserves the rights to refuse ideas that would be technically irrealistic or not compatible with the storyline).
Don't forget the risks part of the page:
    - We don’t create content, or traditional game level design. We do high-level game mechanisms, which are complex and hard to balance.
    - We have several new technologies, in particular the server technologies, that are trying to solve problems that have never been solved before. It may not work as planned, or as our current testing suggests.
    - We have set for ourselves an ambitious fast release cycle. We may encounter unseen problems that could delay our schedule. Unless what you do has already been done before countless of times, you can never be sure how much time it will take.
    - The whole game is a brand new way of doing MMO. What will emerge from this universe? It’s at the same time exciting, but also very risky. We try to orient the game design towards interesting dynamics, but we cannot be sure.

I'm not even shilling here, I'm just pointing out objective truths about how the game was advertised and what was explicitly promised from their kick starter page. I may not be happy with the current iteration of the game but I also will never agree with saying that promises were broken given information to date and what was promised. One of my old orgs had someone who was very closely tied to the internal DU team, their attitude was "NQ is going to fix X problem for me, or else..." - that's not a healthy relationship with a developer and it's what happens when the boundaries between the developers and players gets blurred.

Honestly, it will be so sad if this game dies. There is really no other game like this at the moment, even though there are many many features to be developed, DU brings a lot of unique game-play. Frankly, just the effort from NQ to try something like this is commendable. Even with the current state of the game, I can't see myself to stop playing. If DU makes it 3-4 years into the future, I truly believe it will have a thriving community for many years.

Schematics are actually really nice.  They provided content and a reason to play the game again by stabilizing the markets, as well as a way to make money without mining.

Now, if you're a new player, sure.  Go mining.  You can make about 1mil/hour by digging in the ground, and in 1-2 hours you can setup your first refineries with basic schematics.  After a day or so you can start producing and selling something profitable - for example, let's say refiners.  Then each ore you can mine, you can shove into your factory, and sell the resulting refiners for 15% more than the ore would have cost alone.  The schematic setup is very cheap, and you can very quickly and easily start producing hundreds of refiners per day, and even buy ore from the market if you hate mining, and still make profit.  Obviously, you still have to pay attention to market demand, though, which is the second interesting part about schematics -

Schematics also provide a very interesting investment/loss strategy, making it much more interesting to play on the markets.  Each schematic is an investment.  You must be able to sell enough of the product to break-even after buying that schematic, before that item goes out of demand on the market. For an AGG-S, it may take 60 days before it starts to break even, but then makes 2mil/day/industry constantly, pure profit.  For smaller, cheaper schematics, it takes far less time, of course - but you can also produce many many more of them, and flooding the market with hundreds may reduce the demand.  This makes it both extremely important, and interesting, to pick the correct item to produce for the market.

Now of course, when you first start, you won't be able to process all your ores, so you'll still be selling most of them.  But then, eventually, you save up some money.  You can finally buy all the required pieces to produce an AGG-S.  Congratulations, you never have to mine again.  You don't even need talents.  Because the schematic is so expensive, very few people are producing them.  Because of this, they sell at 90% profit margin.  You can buy the ores from the market, shove them into your industry, and passively make 2mil per day - on top of any ores you mine and sell to the markets.  After 60 days (a very long turnaround time due to its very large buy-in and very long processing time), you have paid for all of your schematics.

Or, if you prefer, maybe instead invest into L containers.  They're much cheaper to invest into, and you can make many more per day and will break-even sooner.  However, these only have a small 10-15% profit margin, and are only profitable if you have the talents to produce them.  You will have to sell these differently than the AGG, which would go straight to the market and be sold - L containers would require you to undercut, buy out others, or just settle for a very low profit margin, and you have to be careful not to oversaturate the market.  But it's a cheaper setup cost and less risk, for less profit.

And finally, the biggest and most important thing schematics did for us, was make sure that players actually buy from the market.  Previously it was nearly impossible to make money on the market; if you could even find a buyer, within a few days they'd have the industry setup and would produce it themselves instead, and prices were at all-time low margins for every item.  Schematics act as a gate to prevent new players from going straight to the biggest, best selling items, which in turn ensures that the biggest and best selling items, remain the best selling items because participating in that market is expensive to buy into.

You can build a space capable ship with nanocrafter without schematics.

Cool looking ore miner ship capable of lifting like 1-2kt of ore to space ~= 15mil. That's about 700kl of t1 ore sold to bots with new prices.

You don't have to craft everything yourself, that's not how the game is supposed to be played.

If you want to craft something, pick a single item, purchase schematic for it and craft it 24/7 (buy ore, sell the product). We are playing MMO not single player game with multiplayer option like SE.

Yamamoto got a reaction from realMod in no fun performancewise - beggars believe - single digit fps, 1 minute pop in, etc
Hey, so there are good and not so good news.

Serverwise, NQ did make a lot of improvements in terms of scaling. You can expect way fewer 'Pending Operation' errors while mining/building, however PVP is still not as fluent as it could be, even though it shows some improvement since Beta started.

FPS performance around markets/crowded areas is still bad, especially if your machine is running something below Intel 10th gen i5/i7  CPU / lower than 16 GB of RAM. NQ did make some improvements to that, like making more landing areas, splitting the markets from the starting location, but there are a lot of abandoned constructs near the markets, which dramatically slows the performance. From what NQ shared, they are working on some solution to clear abandoned building/ships but we are yet to hear more details on that.

If you are struggling with FPS, there are a few guides on what you can do to improve your performance. You can check out some details here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgUJGceVPnk&ab_channel=ZenithGamingCompany

Personally, I am running an overclocked intel i9 9900k with 32GB of RAM and GTX 2080 and the game runs quite well for me, even around markets. If you haven't subscribed for Beta and are still considering, I suggest to list your PC specs in the forums to check if someone can give you their feedback on what performance you can expect.

Missions in unsafe space are coming.
Asteroids (other than the belt around Thades) are coming - probably including if not exclusively in unsafe space.
    Combat on planets is coming.

I'm not 100% sure NQ won't abandon the game, but assuming they keep developing it, everything you want is on their list.

As reporting a bug usually is a process with no feedback and as picking talents usually means hoping they actually work, here is a public bug list. If you want anything added, please describe them clearly. No need to be salty towards me, I am just the salty guy who wants them fixed or at least known, too.
Do not spread exploits. There are plenty of exploits, I would love to make them all public for a level playing field, but it is against the TOS. So as I want to keep my list, please no exploit talk at all!

    Talent related:

    Crafting

-plenty of text is wrong, like exceptional parts manufacturer claiming to decrease crafting time for functional parts, it works however.
-[tier] product refining description is for honeycomb, but works .

    Piloting

-increasing foil lift via piloting talents (not handling) do not change sustentation speed(with full talents your true sust speed is therefore 82% of what is displayed)

    Gameplay related

    Industry/crafting

-So many more unknown server errors leading to random machine stops, especially after maintenance
-HC nanocrafter inconsistencies, like galvanized black iron can not be nanocrafted
-t2+ Hovers and Boosters have the schematic price|craft duration|assembler need|materials needed of the of the one bigger version. In other words, while basic verts and hovers L cost as much as an M engine, t2+hovers and boosters L cost as much as an L engine of the same tier. Likely caused by the mixed naming conventions for all elements

    Ships/piloting

-Diagonal (as seen from the front) elements add crosssection based on their max coordinates they cover. As in, the game checks the difference between their highest and lowest X value, highest and lowest Z value, multiplies them, and that is the cross section of the element. In simpler terms: If you place a wing diagonally, in order to get a little lift and a little stabilization, it has as much cross section as an upright, rectangular box that covers it.
-Elements also have different cross section depending on where exactly they are, a horizontal Wing S does not add to cross section if placed on a z coordinate ending on .5
-configuring pilot seat resets connections and autoconnects different parts. Sadly never my gyro.
-When the default configuring has too many possible links, it states it skips autoconnection, but instead just connects as much as it can and then continues. I wish it actually did skip auto connect.
-Airbrakes produce a down (relative to craft) force when active. To repro, just glide down while holding brakes and pitch down about 45° (brakeland, while facing downwards).
-Cruise control can hold retro brake active at close to zero speed, compared to holding breakes manually (test by comparing normal brake holding, 6km over Alioth, vs cruise control set to zero).
-Collisions with environment are checked client side, same for mass of construct, position etc.
-As long as you are above 3420meter (space engine can activate) and 6270 meters (space engine generally can be active at 100%) your space engines only generate as much power, as your atmo engines facing the same direction have max power. Cruise control does not have the issue. (numbers used for Alioth)
-G-values in build helper do not factor in docked constructs
-the build helper function that shows blind passengers can be bypassed
-Landing with a tilted core craft which has a docked construct often leads to fun explosions.

    Trade/markets

-Notifications do not include size of item (can be found in the log though, press "O").
-"View market page" only works for items in the market container

    Other UI

-Setting something as destination while in VR often gives wrong position once out of VR.
-opening a notification log with more than 10k entries freezes the game for seconds, it re-freezes every time a new notifaction pops up while notifications still open, until you finally manage to set it to "last 24h" or similar.
Update, notifications now get auto deleted regulary.
-Bookmarks, pffff. Somebody ping me if they properly work, I will stop checking.
-trying to put something into a full container displays message "not enough space in active container"

    Other

-using a LUA parameter with a decimal comma instead of decimal point (damn Germans) will ignore the comma and the numbers behind it, run normal otherwise but the LUA parameter will not be displayed anymore to be edited, as the the whole export part is skipped, too. (LUA issue, not DU specific, DU should still throw an error).
-canopy windshield triangle M and L have wrong mass and volume.
-"brick product" is called "brick honeycomb"
-VR Stations, gunner or pilot seats, get stuck on "in use" and can not be used anymore. Ask a GM in the help channel or try this: place a fresh seat, enter it, alt+f4, log in again.
-Not being allowed to board a construct may keep you from coming close enough to rightclick-report it.
-Linked container fluctuates out of range if you have no talents (or in vr), even well within the 250 meters, if you are on the same construct as the container. Workaround: Have a dynamic core with a container to link to, at your base.
-Nanopack volume talent works in VR
-Some ships in the flight challenge have full buffs, not sure if intended.
-Elements deactivated for supposed clipping often re-"clip" after maintencance, or if a copy is made via blueprint.

    Mining

-Multiple people mining the same spot causes errors

    Technical issues

    Account/Billing

-revoked keys and gametime run out show error 106 on log in

    Performance

Game hugs all RAM sooner or later, client has to wait for server info to be allowed to show frames, aka, framerate stutters at idle GPU.

    Settings

-Borderless can not be stretched to cover a full screen with game resolution set smaller than screen resolution. Workaround: Set screen to reolution you want to run DU at.

If you want this game to progress, spamming the same thing a million times will not change something, if the devs have enough money, the game will progress, simple as that. If you post shit on the forums and all new players see your crying, do you expect they will want to try the game out? I doubt it.

Of course, it's everyone choice to do whatever they want. If you feel satisfaction of posting unnecessary comments that don't bring any value, go ahead and keep turning potential new players away.

At the end of the day, our feedback would contribute only a small fraction for the game development. If NQ don't have money to make new features, all the best, most constructive feedback/ideas will not save them.

Honestly, this community was great in alpha, a lot of people with good and constructive criticism. After beta, it became too toxic, unfortunately due to 10 people spamming all the threads in the forums and crying about how DU sucks in their opinion and repeating the same thing over and over. Like you said, this is extremely bad for new players who are interested in the game.

All the people spamming the forums just get their dose of dopamine when someone likes their post/comment, since they don't have anything better to do in their life. It's saddening to see an awesome game fail due to the toxicity of a small number of nolifers, but at the end of the day, it is what it is. If you really support the game and want it to succeed, play it, bring some friends with you, have a nice time, don't spam the forums with unnecessary negativity, like 80% of the people here.

I will keep playing the game and pay my 2 subs every month to support the development as much as I can. At this point, this is all we can do if we want a good future for DU.

I have often been critical of NQ and their shenanigans but I still play the game, currently more than any other game in the same genre.

I guess that’s because the core members of our org are still enjoying themselves, too, building working “basketball” courts and “golf” courses.
pretty parks and huge underground “car” parks.

I see the new player’s criticism above and understand where they are coming from but also feel sad that they are unable to overcome those barriers.

the mining mechanic is fine for what it is. It is easy to learn and after a few days you can gain a sort of honing sense that lets you find ore super easily. The sensor mechanic is a bit shite when you start, but after a few hours you can skill up to L3 in most of the mining skills and the pain goes away.

you don’t need to constantly mine, despite what people tell you here, unless you are working for someone else and they make you, or you are a solo player trying to craft a large construct/factory.

the tutorials are not great. But I completed them for the SP boosts which helped the first day or two to get a few more base skills.

grinding? I don’t know, if you have mined a few nodes of each of the T1s you’re good to build your first ship. L3 in nanocrafting gets a useful 30% reduction in crafting times.

more wings, some hovers a few small containers and small engines. A few more adjusters.

Basic space engines S and XS can be made in your nanopack and should be enough for the first foray into space.

All of this can be queued in your nanopack while tootling around, mining a bit more or building out your first static core.

I have a bunch of alt accounts and I enjoy playing through the first part of the game again and again, trying to reach space in as short as possible a time without using the markets.

Or, you know, they could find any one of the still active orgs to join and let them help them.

OP mentions that literally every single aspect of DU is shit and calls paying 20 euros or whatever for three month’s access a scam. Even inexplicably refers to the n-word for some bizarre reason.  (Non native English speaker judging by the writing, though, so ?‍♂️)

It’s likely my age, but I really don’t understand how some people find barriers wherever they look and also get so concerned about graphics, which can actually be very beautiful at times, anyway.

All comes across as lack of imagination and vision to some extent. But is more likely just a product of being a member of the COD and Fortnite generation.

with all the tutorials out there surely they can figure out the basics.

    ps.
The grind in SU is FAR LESS obnoxious than at the start of NMS - or as many came to call it in 2016: “backpack simulator”

the grind in this game is also far less intense than Elite Dangerous which really is entirely grind if you want to progress through the ranks or craft your ship.

And graphics? Overrated beyond having the basics. Just look at Cyberpunk 2077!

Also, to all the people crying in this forum how the game sucks, I feel sorry that you need to have some random dude agree with you on a forum to have meaning in your life.

Interesting to see you spam every single tread on the forums and not have DU installed ?. Sums up the 'vets trying to save the game' toxic spamming pretty well.

Oh look, here is the high and mighty Lethys come to dirty and sully himself by mingling with the non-Eve playing cretins, boasting about reinstalling a game he hates and knows he hates because he has 5000 posts saying how much he hates it and how toxic the community it..

But like clockwork, he's here again -for reasons only he knows- to add absolutely nothing of value to the discussion.
