So someone on Discord expressed his opinion that Dual Universe has yet no history and that "true history" will begin after game goes live.

    I beg to differ.

As far as the game is concerned, "history" started when J.C. began musing with the idea of a server technology able to sustain a single-shard editable world, back in 2011. As far as we players are concerned, "history" is right now. We're living it. It has already started.

That person probably - and rightly so - meant that recording current "history" was kind of irrelevant, since few of what we see today (projects, organizations, hierarchies, roosters, blueprints and so on) will endure the harsh reality of actually having to do stuff to happen ingame.

This is all a dream for now (the term "Sleepers" was not choosen randomly by your humble chronicler, mind you).

However, when you wake up after a vivid dream, though most of it is gone the moment you open your eyes, some of it remains: fuzzy yet marking oniric memories, that might shape your day...

... or even inspire the rest of your whole life.

You do reallse that France is not Sourh Korea, right? NCSoft and NEXON published games pretty much turned the MMO genre into a junkyard. Go play your Trash MMOs and leave DU for those who actually want a good game instead of Pay-2-Win.

MinerMax555 reacted to Croomar in Looking for a helping hand? - Introducing the Dual Universe Guide server
A forum is typically a place to discuss single topics, pose questions or make suggestions. This happens in a highly organized manner, which is perfect for keeping discussions in order, being able to archive them and giving a large portion of people the possibility to participate.

However, there are downsides to it when it comes to user friendliness in various forms.
Getting an answer usually takes time, topics that may interest you already exist but are no longer active or already archived and discussion can head in a directions you don’t feel like taking part in.

For these reasons, the user Loondoe has created the Dual Universe Guide (DUG) Discord server.

    What exactly is that?
Primarily, the DUG server aims to provide a 24/7 live-support platform for all players interested in any aspect of Dual Universe. This support is offered by many volunteering, friendly and well respected community members from all branches.

Furthermore, the server intends to act as a compressed collection of informational sources and material. We publish community generated guidelines, articles, monthly handouts, records and history information, walkthroughs and more.

Is this the right thing for me?
Basically, the server is for everyone and everything distantly and closely related to Dual Universe. This is definitely what you are looking for if:

you want to have questions about the game or features, the community portal, pledges or the forums and its community answered fast and easily
you want to find or be provided with information and sources for the game’s features and plans quickly
you want to find or found an organization and need advice
you are looking for players or organizations to partner up or make business with
you want to feature a website, server or project you created and open it to the public
you need help or a solution for a problem you encountered
you want to get informed about past or current events and business in the community
you need help with anything else and need someone to talk to
    And how does it work?
First, you’ll need to join the Discord server itself by clicking the link below:

    https://discord.gg/J4AVBy7

Once you’ve joined, you can just state your issue in one of the support channels to receive help from supporters.
Alternatively, you can take a look at the other channels to look for information yourself.

And that’s it. That’s how easy it is to receive help.

For any further suggestion and question on the project itself, these will of course also be answered on the forums itself.

How much does a typical gamer spend on hardware and software for gaming in a year? This is the price of roughly 3 AAA game titles per year, so roughly 4 months per AAA game.

How many xbox one games really have 4 months worth of steady game content? There are a few sure, but 3 per year? Unlikely.

Sandbox game junkies often spend tons of hours all in one game. MMO players often spend tons of hours all in one game. The kinds of players that will appreciate DU are the kinds for which $156/year breaks down into a very small and reasonable $/hour ratio. For the players that have the most time to play and the least income, there is a good chance it'll break down to $0/year with the ability to trade for game time in the in-game market. That seems pretty reasonable to me.

    EDIT for an additional point

-Gaming is a hobby, and hobbies can sometimes be expensive. For someone who plans to play a bit each day, or have longer binge-sessions on the weekend, this could be considered someone's primary hobby. The advantage here is that if someone decides that they no longer want to play, they can stop paying and allocate future funds towards something else.

Lastly this model ensures that the Developers will be able to create regular expansions, which will keep the game in a place where we want to have it as a primary hobby.

You can play for free too if you're active enough and make enough in-game money.

If not, there's the door. No one forces you to play

And I won't even start on why there is this sub because you know, if you can't ask politely, I won't do either

I thought this would be a good time since I just upgraded my pledge to gold.

Those things don't relate, it just reminded me I never did one of these...   Ok let's start.

Hello my username is mefsh. It has no meaning. (It was a typo)
Please pronounce my name as mefe because good luck saying mefsh XD. (Again It was a typo.)

Since this is a video game forum here are some of my favorite video games:
     Minecraft NO I AM NOT 6... I am 6 and 1/2,
     Factorio,
     And terraria.

I have also have played eve (Probably like 30-40 hours) but I found it to be not worth the subscription. Hopefully Dual Universe will be different. The sandbox part will probably increase my enjoyment of it a lot. As you can see from my list I like sandbox games despite me being a horrible builder.

    Just Awful.

Oh yea I am also a happy member of the PC MASTER RACE.

    My Specs:

Ram: Something with a DDR in it.
Wait why would any of you care whats in my PC, LOL.

    My interests include:
     Space,
     Video games,
     Programming,
     And computers.
Those last 3 are kinda the same thing (Kinda) but what ever.

There are many open questions, but I really love how this game doesn't want to be just a game, but some sort of integrated development environment for players to develop their own structures within this framework, even to the extend, that not just the usual 'material' objects are being developed by the player, but also more abstract objects like forms of social organisations. At least for those, who wish to do so. I'd really like to have a game, where all essential aspects become a competitive 'engineering' challenge between the players, which also allows so much creativity and variety to be set free, that all the people have at their heart.

    Hi everyone,

We can't give you details yet about how turrets will work as it refers to game mechanics still currently being designed.

However, what we can tell you is what the team is aiming for:
    - Giving the ability to players to build some automated defense for their base.
    - Avoiding to give the ability to players to have a huge multicrew ship entirely manageable by one player. This would defeat the purpose of multiplayer crew ships, and would end up destroying the team play we are aiming for. People wanting to play solo will be able to do many things, but not everything: piloting alone a multiplayer crew ship with maximum efficiency will be one of the things they won't be able to do. Team play must be rewarded by some exclusive activities and piloting a multiplayer crew ship is the biggest one. Without strong incentive, team play just won't happen.
    - Regarding AI, it depends what players are expecting: if it's to help in some basic industrial tasks, or basic automated defense, yes, there will be some - limited - possibilities. However, no AI self-replicating robots, no AI able to replace completely a player in a multiplayer crew ship.

We know this isn't much or new info for now, and we will try to update the topic as soon as possible.

    Best Regards,
    Nyzaltar.
