Well, wether you like it or not, the "single shard" expression isn't born yesterday and hasn't been invented by us, as it has been used for more than a decade in the video game industry, and has been widely spread with EVE Online.
 
Edit: According to wikipedia, a "Shard" can be used to designate a database architecture OR a game server (which can be hosted on several computers).

It has been said it will be hosted on a single server.
Are you not confusing the words "server" and "computer"?
A server can be hosted on a cluster composed of many computers.
And for Dual Universe, this is definitely the case.

Here is a (small) overdue update about the Lore:
 
Lore Update (2 Oct. 2017):
 
UMF (United Mankind Federation) becomes UEF (United Earth Federation).  From a Lore point of view, the testing phases including Alpha and Beta stages are considered in the Lore as virtual simulation run by Aphelia while the Alpha Team members are asleep (note: Pre-Alpha stage is not considered as part of the Lore) The in-game money will the “Quanta” (one Quanta, several Quantas). “Novean” is the term to name a passenger of the Arkship “Novark”.  
P.S: regarding potential inconsistency between Nanopack rarity and the way a Player Character is resurrected, it's possible we will go with the solution "By naked, we mean, everything else than what you had before you leaving the Arkship". However, this is still in discussion. We'll keep you informed about the final decision

There's no need to do a translation, the keymap looks the same (just replace the picture with a qwerty keyboard and you have the qwerty keymap).
 
Saying that isn't breaking the NDA either because the qwerty controls were in the last DevDiary (albeit they were scrolling past them).
 
 

When your org is still in the Cinderfall Syndicate

So I feel that this is probably a stupid question, but I can't find the answer anywhere. What is happening to the Cinderfall syndicate? Just yesterday it was the 5th biggest Org, but today it looks as though membership suddenly dropped. Is it people joining member organizations? Is it a purge of inactives? Are you transferring to a new org? No big deal, just extremely curious.

As this weekends Pre Alpha for all Gold backers above draws nearer, just want to put another bug in everyone's ear about Tortuga. We've had several join the project from several groups in DU both large and small. We will begin theory crafting the layout starting this weekend as testing for Dual Universe continues, so why not join in now at the very beginning of this endeavor?

Somebody sneezed over in Cinderfall Syndicate and a bunch of members went flying. We'll see if the members remaining are made of heavier stuff.
Another 10 or so new organizations to hit 3+ members and The Blue Moon ᵀᵃᵛᵉʳⁿ is steadily growing.
