depends on how big you want to make it, super bowl commercials are one extreme, forum signature banners are the other.

Also there's a discord server with a channel people spam that stuff into.

Apparently having pictures, youtube videos and actually taking the time to write something worth while helps, Also editing your posts for correct spelling (re: title hint: use full editor) helps

If youre looking for a place and want to build up a civilization and not just your own private empire to be the nerd king of.

Here is a speel of my basic hopes and ambitions of cinderfall.
    --------------
The Cinderfall Syndicate is to create a high security and safe space within the game. Since the world will lack any form of forced safety that Non Player Character organisations provide such as in EVE.

Starting from Alioth, well build Emberstone a completely safe place, where noobies can come and get a grip, they dont have to join Cinderfall. We will try to explain the pros and cons of various organisations to people, even orgs that do not support the Cinderfall mission or sign on.

So we will make efforts to classify cities, areas, planets, solar systems, stargates, and miscellaneous with a simplistic security rating system to let people know the general value of a safe or dangerous place. We are legitimate so while others might tell you a place is safe, it might not actually be, Cinderfall will not lie about its security ratings you can trust them.

The Syndicate is a loose collection of organizations which agree to the Cinderfall mission. However just being a member does not necessarily make this a traditional alliance. An application process will be developed for bringing new organisations in, and the Syndicate Senate may at times vote new members into the syndicate at large or even onto the Senate itself. This senate does not control any relative aspect of players gaming experience but guides Cinderfall and its objectives, such as where to place hubs, how much sales tax a hub will have, the location of cinderfall stargates, and other various topics.
The JSDF will be expanded or shrink to cover the high security locations that are established as mentioned before. Its members will consist of the cinderfall primary members of the Magistratum or the JSDF as well as Syndicate members who join as a secondary citizen. If you haven't time for secondary responsibility within Cinderfall itself but are a member of the syndicate, your org may be cleared to have its own operational branch, or expeditionary force, under the authority of the JSDF.

The Magistratum will work as an effort to seek balance and harmony in the syndicate, and to do its best to help those even outside of the realm of civilization. A Magistratum Archive will be constructed in Emberstone where peoples may share or find information on various scripts that have been made, we want to improve the quality of the game for as many as possible. The primary role of the members of the Magistratum and thus Cinderfall is to provide conflict mediation based on philosophical guidelines the Magistratum coems up with in order to best serve everyone in keeping the game fun while actually solving problems as best we can.

There are good reasons why free currency trading is restricted in games. It created a near perfect money laundering technology for terrorists and criminals. Some have even been busted in Second Life. So avoiding a player withdrawal of trade-able currency is now normal. Novaquark is following that line.

There is more to Bitcoin than bitcoin the currency; the blockchain technology as many useful game functions including server-less peer to peer account archiving, anti-hacking measures that enable client side archiving, automatic player adjudication of transaction disputes. etc.

The thing about this game that I like is unlike Eve the universe is almost infinite.  This stops the staleness of a couple huge groups controlling most of the universe suffocating any newbies.  Newbies and new organizations can simply move out further to build their empire.  No organization will be able to control the universe or even a handful.

As stated above, this isn't so much as a level system and like Eve someone a couple months in could have more fighting skills than someone a couple years in who worked on industry or whatever.

Also maybe this is just me being hopeful, but with the openness on a scale never done before this truly allows some ingenuity.  New situations allow for new opportunities and those even new may see a better way to do something or make something.  I've heard of new games as they come out being called an Eve killer but if JC and crew pull this thing off this really can be an Eve killer.

If you take the approach that Star Wars Galaxies (pre-NGE obviously), a doctoring profession would be quite useful and highly sought after. Having a medic on board a ship that is far from your resurrection point might be quite valuable. As well as a combat medic could be given certain skills to affect the result of a direct firefight as well (not knowing how personal combat will be like in DU). But being injured on an asteroid or planet far from home, you might appreciate a medic tending to you

Doctors could also be given the skills for player modification, letting players customize (to a certain degree) their appearance. Which in my experience is something a lot of players appreciate.

A doctor could also be skilled in crafting/producing pharmaceuticals in all kind of variations. Stimulants (temporary "buff") to increase everything from HP regain to skill gain. Or something similar to EvE Online's boosters. Either way any increase in any stat or performance would give a similar decrease in other areas

My argument for why we should be able to put our names on our products.

Blueprints should have Player and/or Organization names for branding purposes

People like being known, and they like showing off when they do something cool. So blueprint designs should retain the name of the person who made them so that people can develop reputations for being excellent ship/station/modual/etc designers. Not only will this inspire people to try hard and reward them for being great, it will favor competition between organizations. Org A will try and destroy Org B because Org B designs better ships, so they cut into the profits of Org A. Alternatively, people will hire Org B to design a cool new ship for them because they've proven they have people who know how to make good ships.

Such a system would also provide the possibility for groups to sell their services to people without the time or inclination to build things themselves. It opens up a whole new world where people can be "that guy who designs the best buildings" or "the woman who plans the best space stations". Then they can use that reputation to sell their services to large, wealthy groups that want something built specially for them, but don't necessarily have the time or expertise to do it themselves. One of my biggest problems with crafting in other games is that you can't really show off if you're good at it. Everyone knows the top pvpers, but nobody's heard of the best crafters. That should change.

I realize it would most likely be unwise to list names on individual market orders, like who is selling what. But I don't see any reason why you would deny people the ability to broadcast their designs, creations, and services. Just include an option to disable the name for people who don't want the publicity.

    Thoughts?

Edit: Sorry, no clue how it got double posted. Fixed

LUA works due to the game engine's heavy use of C++ code. Look up Unigine 2.

I'd like to see Lua Scripts sold in the markets as compiled libraries. This way the source code could be protected, but the functionality preserved. Just like in real life.

Now lets say someone wanted to improve your library they could simply reference it and override certain functions and add new ones. They would still need to purchase the original library but could resell the newer updated library at a higher price.

Copying and Pasting scripts manually, without being able to protect your scripts "blueprint" would kill off an entire industry. Imagine you built a ship and created a blueprint, which people could just re-use over and over again without paying the owner... You could not make money from designing ships because "piracy" would be rife - the same applies to software.

First of all, it would be cool to even have the ability to use the 'require' keyword in LUA for importing libraries for use in our LUA scripts.

Even if that was limited to a list of provided libraries from NQ, that would be awesome.

However, I'd like to take that a step further and let people distribute their own code via disks/memory units/whatever ingame. Thus people could actually make a living ingame doing nothing but selling their own software.

Not only do I see standalone LUA scripts being distributed this way, but also libraries. So instead of a programmer having to go to your elements and manually copy in code for each one on your ship, if you don't want to code everything yourself, you might just go buy the premade software off the market for installation in elements like consoles.

As was discussed in the GrayStillPlays interview, the stated goal was to allow us to buy a ship off the market, change it up a bit or improve it somehow, and then sell the differences on the market as an "upgrade" to the base ship. That could even be extended to software, so you might add a better navigation UI into a ship you buy and decide to sell it on the market.

We're likely going to be sharing code online anyways, it would be cool to see it integrated as a game mechanic.

As Comrademoco stated, technically, nothing will prevent you to build giant mechs
About the limits of ingame programming, I can just tell you for now that all the coding allowed will be in LUA and should limited to automatize some basic things (like elementary AIs for droids, autopilots for spaceships, automatized defense systems and such things). More on this matter will be revealed in the future
