  1. It's only pay to win if you get something in-game for it. DACs don't do anything in the game, they only let you play; a player with 1 DAC is no better or worse off than a player with 1000 DACs, except that the latter can sell them in game and get some quick resources, though I believe that's what you're mainly referring to. It still takes time to be able to use these resources effectively. Money can't buy everything, so even if youre rich and buy a ship right away as soon as you start playing, and some kid slaved away for 15 hours to make his ship and train himself to be better at combat, that poor (financially) kid could probably own you. I guess basically, the thing about dual universe is that the most valuable objects will be skills, which are only achievable from play time. This post is both superfluous and unnecessary.
  2. "I'll add your thoughts" >>'Other' Can't go wrong with that! (but I know you added some of what he said) Thing is, everyone is going to be excited for different things, and probably multiple things at that. I'm excited to both script and explore. And try to get rich! EDIT: I also think mining and building quite deserve separate categories.
  3. What Cap is saying is, if there is a ship flying around, then by the mechanics of the game, the ship must have an owner. Whether you can scan a ship to find out who made it I personally don't know. But it would be one way do identify a ship that doesn't have a dedicated transponder. But if you are flying a ship through territorial space and do not identify yourself as innocent to people who think you may potentially be hostile, then you're asking to be shot as this is a game on the internet.
  4. That is indeed a problem and surely against some rules... And if there are none, then some need to be written. I think the best bet would be to message a mod about it, first choice being Nyzaltar. It's not a pressing matter so there's no real rush but I'm sure those at NQ will want something like this fixed. Thank you for caring enough to try and do something about this!
  5. It's kinda been talked about here on the forums, as in the community has talked about how different resources could differ. As for official word however, there is none. Your search turned up just about all there really is to know about reaource mechanics in Dual Universe. We just gotta wait and see!
  6. So basically just random, strange, cool stuff that gives you awesome rare stuff? Sounds cool to me! Only thing about DU is that there are no intelligent aliens, or dev-made constructs. So they would have to be wildlife of sorts, which I guess could work; people have been asking for big game to be in the... game. I could see it working out.
  7. Yes it will kind of be possible. I'll add to what Twerk said. What it comes down to is that things like that will most likely be rare. Outright war between two or more factions where they are just full scale attacking each other, is not something that will happen every day; it will be expensive with the potential to have little payout. The idea sure seems cool, what with an open universe Battlefront-style war, but it won't look cinematically awesome like it does in EA's game, for reasons such as balancing and, as Twerk said, the whole lock-and-fire thing. That, and the FPS won't be nearly as in-depth. So yes, everything that you said IS possible, but it won't be an experience comparable to Battlefront.
  8. For those of us unfamiliar with both STALKER and Metro anomalies, could you tell us a little bit more about what those are?
  9. Welcome to the forums Basixx! Glad to see you're here. NQs YouTube account suggested above is a great start for your questions. As for your organization, there are plenty organizations available in this section (Arkship Pub) of the forum for you to peruse, most of which speak English mainly. Since you asked for people to recruit you, I'm sure you'll probably end up with a few messages in your inbox. However, if you click my signature below you'll get taken to the page on the organization I'm a part of, the Aether. It is entirely English and has its own discord, so feel free to make it your first stop in your search! Hope to see you posting around! Also, I see you play RFG! That's one of my favorite games of all time. It's the only game that I have for all three PS3, 360, and PC. Good choice.
  10. I think that's a decent idea. I suggested a while ago that likes should be shown under our avatars as well. Someone said basically the risk of it doing harm outweighed the good, as it might cause something along the lines of "like corruption". Still, what with the off topic section and some people making worthless one sentence posts 90% of the time, I think something needs to change.
  11. I have inadvertently stumbled across what I was previously talking about! Here is the link to the post: https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/336-members-selected-for-the-alpha-team/?p=18689
  12. Welcome to the new members! I'm sorry to hear that applicants are being turned away; I hope your post will help Aetherios. I believe the Aether will succeed, and I'm happy I have the opportunity to be a part of it. I hope we continue to see growth, not just as an organization but as fans of the game in general. Happy Holidays everyone!
  13. NovaQuark (the game developers) have said that everything in Dual Universe will be erased at least at the conclusions of the alpha and beta phases. However, I believe that players will be able to keep any constructs in the form of blueprints, which they can then build in later stages of the game. So nothing physical within the game world will be kept. The lore behind it is that all of the survivors from earth's destruction are in ships heading out into the galaxy to begin a new civilization. During the journey, select people (alpha and beta players) will be entering a virtual reality environment (alpha and beta phases) to test their skills and abilities in a simulation of the real world, to get them ready for the real thing (the game's release). Thus, by the lore, alpha and beta will not actually "happen", and only digital things (blueprints) will remain after the conclusion of the alpha and beta. I cannot quote the specific reference where the developers state that the world will be wiped after (and possibly during, can't remember for sure) the alpha and beta, perhaps someone else can find that. As for the lore, that's in the Lore Bible here on the forums in the Novark Archives section. Also, welcome to the forums!
  14. At E3 2016 when they put out the trailer, I'm sure lots of people were skeptical. Short trailer of a game in pre-alpha by an indie dev team... Everyone's seen that before. Most immediately threw caution tape all over that. The thing was that there was barely anything out there at that time for Dual Universe. Not much info and barely any videos on it. Next E3 (2017), if NQ puts out another video, it will be a different story. There will be so much more for them to show, and people searching for DU online after they see the video will find a plethora of info and videos, and hopefully lots of alpha gameplay. I think the alpha will bring in new people but I think an E3 demo (perhaps even live with whoever is playing the alpha at that time) combined with the amount of content there will be on the game by then will really start to bring people in.
  15. Good stuff in the video! Two things I noticed, first was that it showed the player scanning and I was wondering how that factors in with the scanning mechanics that they have talked about already. Probably the spherical scan which shows you what percent of what you scanned is what, but I'm not sure. The other I noticed is that it seems like territory control units have the ability to show both the name and symbol of an organization! I saw two in the video, maybe placeholders, but still a possibility. We just have to make sure they add in melee!
  16. It would be useful for sure. I have thought about how long it would take to make a ship in this game with the given voxels... And as anyone who plays creative games knows, making something in a game can take a very, very long time. Dual Universe, it looks to be similar to Space Engineers, except in DU you're basically making a large grid ship using small grid blocks. So, a very long time then. I know in DU you can change the size of the voxels you place, but even so, the game needs some way to allow a person to speed up a build process. This idea could help, Hilts.
  17. Lots of great entries here. Good luck to everyone! The reward for this particular vote is a unique in-game title, correct? EDIT: Also, I personally feel that hiding the results until the conclusion of the vote would be preferential, if that's possible.
  18. Is the title an allusion of some sort? ;-) I jest. Better late than never!
  19. You cannot beam into them a la Star Trek; there will be no teleportation. Boarding is most definitely possible though, as weapons can create holes in the voxels of ships. You could disable a ship, blast open its hull, and go inside to do whatever you desire inside the ship. Taking it out from the inside doesn't seem beneficial if you aren't able to teleport to it (at the point where it's safe to board the ship, you probably don't need to do much more damage to it), but it is technically possible. I imagine boarding will be used more so for stealing valuable resources.
  20. ATMLVE

    Ship battles

When they refine the idea more, they'll certainly let us know! Don't worry, they'll make a devblog about it and tell us all about it. However, I can tell you now that for server processing reasons, ramming an object into another ship will not be a viable combat method. It would unnecessarily increase server load, and so the developers will shape the game in a way that players won't want to do that.
  21. There might be, no way to know for sure. I don't think there will be any explosive elements though, as in a block that explodes and breaks voxels. Such a tool could be used in physical missiles or automated mining, two things the developers don't want. So my guess is no, there will not be a way to scuttle a ship. This has been discussed before too, and I think the general consensus was that it should not be allowed, as it would render piracy almost entirely obsolete.
  22. I see potential for both simultaneously. Space Engineers just added mag boots, but they don't work in gravity wells. One if the questions you really need to ask for Dual Universe regarding gravity in space (to which there currently is no answer) is how accelerations and movement will affect players on board ships. If it works like Space Engineers... That's bad. That's what we don't want. Glitchy and difficult to move around. What I think is going to happen is that there will somehow be a bounding box within constructs, which defines the area that the construct takes up. Within this area players can move freely without feeling the ships acceleration, encouraging crewed ships. It would also be an opportunity to define a direction of gravity for that ship. I have no reason to think this, other than it seems better than all other options taking into consideration what NovaQuark is trying to achieve. Magnetic boots would be fine I feel, in any situation. I think that should be a default. A gravity unit would extend outside the ship and could possibly lead to complex physics calculations if several were rapidly combined with free floating objects. This would mean that there then still has to be some way of regulating players walking around on accelerating ships, and if that issue is going to be solved I feel it could solve the gravity problem as well. As an additional reason to deter gravity units, they could be launched at crewed ships to screw up their gravity, and something the devs don't want is people launching physical weapons at other ships.
  23. No one outside of development currently has access to the game, if that's what you're asking. Some have played it, but no one currently has access, at least not publicly. Everyone has to wait until at least 2017!
  24. Glad you're back with us, and welcome to the forums! You're in luck, because there is currently crowdfunding going on for Dual Universe where you can get kickstarter rewards, including alpha access. Just head on over to here to pledge! As was said above, the minimum pledge required for alpha access is gold. Hope to see you around!
  25. I can't tell if this is a discussion post or an advertisement. Regarding the former, I agree with you completely, that piracy does not equal griefing. I can't think of anyone here on the forums being significantly outspoken about griefing and pirating being the same thing, but perhaps that's just because I'm never looking.
