That's exactly what I told my PvP mates when I read a mention on Athena's announcements.
"Release the Pressure on PvE Players"
I was there in mode, you will see they will send us a thousand SU so that you leave the PvE players alone.
    It did not fail.
The worst part is that they even destroyed the hauler missions so that if you are a PvP player you now have no targets.
    Checkmate for in-game player interactions.
And an MMO without interaction is a dead MMO.

Riiight? I think this will hurt them more than is obvious right now. It makes building more convenient in a lot of ways, but overall it reduces the engagement of the game.

Once you have some AMs set up, mining is basically a "watch the paint dry" feature. Just like slowboating. Just like training talents. Just like waiting for asteroids to spawn.

When so many features in your game rely on waiting around doing nothing, that's just not a good design.

    So NQ,
Ok that's cool, you put alien stations 500 Su away from planets so PvP players don't interact with other players.
Now, what do you suggest for players to have fast gameplay in PvP?
An area not too far from the safe zone?
With loot boxes to destroy and with a little loot in it that is worth it for guys to go and compete with XS or S?
Imagine a new solo player who arrives, apart from entering a station fight at 1000 Su, the game has nothing to offer.
    Move around a bit.

10,000 subs won't be enough to do anything. That's less than $100,000 a month in revenue for a company with two offices (in expensive locations) and 30+ employees...For reference, 30 people at $40,000 a year salary is already $100k a month.

I think they have more than 30 employees...and regardless, their staff is likely making much more considering their office locations and the expense of good engineering talent.

So...it isn't a stretch to suggest they need 10x that amount depending on their margins after ad costs and staff/server/office overhead.

And in that context....I don't think anyone here has any idea of how NQ can earn and maintain 100,000 subscribers...wipe or no, that's going to be a struggle.

The best point on 0.23 pach:

[IMPORTANT] Elements now have limited restoration attempts using scrap before being permanently broken and requiring a new element to be replaced with.

Most elements can be restored 3 times.
Item and fuel containers can be restored 5 times.
Core Units can no longer be restored using scrap at all.

It was such a good aspect, that our corporation created an internal market to be able to offer spare parts, each one of the members specialized in the production of a series of spare parts, and we created an area of stores with dispensers, after reversing this patch for the pressure of the players, that industry was no longer necessary because no one needed spare parts anymore, the stores stopped making sense and the market was dead. and let's be honest, the problem is not lag or bugs, the problem is that there is a part of players, who do not want to suffer any penalty for their mistakes, and who are only interested in seeing their wealth grow.

The tools are in the devs hands.

Original ideas, are not alwais good ideas , DU have unique mechanics never seen before, but alot times is better to copy existing ideas.

The video game industry has advanced following patterns that worked, and it is not by chance, let's say for example PvP games like Albion Online, or eve online, they are games that when you dead, part of the equipment or pieces of the ship are destroyed, it is not an arbitrary decision, it is simply a decision based on the need for wealth to disappear from the game, so that other people who do not participate in pvp can continue to produce wealth with continuous demand.

Also in Albion Online and Eve Online. ,industries outside the safe zone have bonuses, which drive you to want to build and defend those unsafe zones.

Also both games, have pvp introductory mechanics in the safe zone like FW, militia, and wars, and pve content, to intruce people in fight mechanics.

Is Albion Online a Copy of eve online?
Not really, just both games evolved to the same point, risk vs reward, and wheel of creation and destruction.

What I have exposed are just a couple of examples of the mechanics that work in other games, and that turn out to be all very similar, because they are the ones that work, in the same way that all the wheels in are round, it is not always necessary to invent a new wheel form.

Yo have the necessary tools to have a game like this, I have seen that you have the talent, but they lack the courage. Stop thinking about how things will affect your game, or the players feelings, and look at how things have gone for the brave, Albion online and eve online were brave games.

CousinSal reacted to Sycopata in Some ideas about the Wipe. (NQ please read, not a rant an idea.)
Unfortunately for me, I am reliving the situation experienced in another Sand Box MMO, Life is Feudal, the patterns of what happened are being repeated, wipes, players who wanted to keep their possessions in the wipes, players who wanted a more pvp environment, players who said that builders were the essence of the game... the resolution was as follows:

1-Launch of a unified server with many pvp
restrictions "turned out to be a bore and the game was continually losing users"

2-Wipe and launch of 2 servers one without PVP and one with PvP "the PVE server had hardly any population and for some reason the PVE players preferred to play in the PVP, but continually complaining"

3-Wipe, elimination of the PVE server and creation of a much bigger PVE/PVP server. "The PVE zone was used in practice by PVP players as a war factory, distorting the PVP zone, game become a big arena"

4-Closing of the game due to lack of players who paid a fee "They wanted to make everyone happy, when in reality you have to have a clear project, if your game has a small gameplay loop, and destruction is required so that the game loop does not end, you have to accept that some people are not going to be happy of losing his things, but the game will work"

All MMOs survive why wipe, people name wipe, EXPANSIONS, and accept this, but in sand boxes, people is so stick to his "hard work"

try for a moment, imagine that a world of warcraft player was opposed to an expansion, because the armor he uses will be obsolete and he will waste his time investment in getting it

In games where there is actually a cycle of destruction, these wipes are called world wars, as in the case of EVE Online, where it is the players who reset the economy by destroying large amounts of resources.

Sorry but non exist PVE in dual universe.
    We have this loop:

    gathering>industry>build>PvP

some people avoid the last steep of the loop, but is the only loop we have.

I think I fancy the old mining principles but with one difference. In stead of manual mining you have the OPTION to place a mining unit. After a while the node get depleted and you have to look for a different one.

I like once in a while scanning and it would be great to have the option to either mine manual or with a mining unit. This will keep being a miner as a profession and gives new joiners a fair change on decent nodes as well.

At least the boring mandatory stupid calibrating will be gone then. Although calibrating is very quick these days, it still is a kinda stupid action you need to think about of doing.

    cores should have CCS bonus.

    L - 4x
    M - 3x
    S - 2x
    xs -normal rate.

L cores turn like shit, which is fine, you can add point defense weapons.  But rework shields so L cores have more tank now that they are slower.

    Shields
    L- 20mil base
    M - 15mil base
    S -10mil base
    xs 5mil base

Now tie shields to core size.

Now comes cross section changes.  if you hit a target with web, thats 50% his cross section goes up 50%.  L cores currently turn like ass but give them a chance to be a siege weapon and shine in a coordinated fleet.  Now L cores are slow, turn like ass, but in a fleet can apply their dmg and tank more if you spend the more money to add ccs.  Smaller cores still have great roles with their speed, better agility, and good probs, and CCS can be added with the boost without compeletly weighing down ships.

How ships die.  Keep the 3 lives DURING COMBAT.  but if you get cored, everything should blow up and all 3 lives lost.  Later on develop a way to use the recycler to salvage completely destroyed parts.  This creates a great sink and keeps production logistics up for BOTH sides of a battle.  The winning side of a battle should not always get their ships back, but also the enemies ships back, and fully functional after using 200 scrap.

Haha, yeah -- more realistic physics will really save this game come release 😏

I think some would definitely prefer DU to be a single player simulator or a small-scale multiplayer game hosted on community servers.

Arguably, it would make a lot more sense as such...because a game like this would actually benefit from varying rulesets or mods that appeal to the many niches of players that expect wildly different things from the game.

Yet that's not how the game works -- it's an MMORPG, not a physics-based simulator.

I'm not saying I think the speed change is a good game design choice, don't get me wrong, but fidelity to real life physics is far from a real issue...I think the very idea of slow-boating for hours is poor game design with as much engagement as a screensaver, so the speed changes to me are a symptom of far deeper design flaws.

There's little about the game that's truly realistic -- games are always abstractions and a more realistic abstraction rarely makes a better game...especially when "realism" isn't a true design value for DU (though to be fair their design values aren't especially clear...)

PVP - Ship is cored then it is CORED i.e Elements Blow up, Lives lost voxels explode.  Currently Nano Meta CCS pops and an intact ship can be added a new core and back in operation in 5 minutes........ Most stupid game issue currently!.

As for Decay it is NEEDED for the economy.  No ifs, no buts it is is needed or we will continue to be billionaires!

What would happen if you tried this is the same thing that happened when the bot orders were buying voxel at a high price.  Experienced players with high manufacturing skills would buy up all the ore in order to manufacture the items and sell direct to NPC orders for a profit.  Since they can do this as much as possible, and they can have as many machines as they want, the experienced players would buy up as much ore as they can in order to do this, creating shortages and pushing up prices.  Fairly quickly the ore would be priced so high that the newer players are now unable to make a profit manufacturing items.  At that point you have to put up the price of the bot orders, which will keep driving price inflation forever, or leave them alone in which case you're back where you started.

IMO the 'use less material for manufacture' skills are bad and cause this sort of problem.  I think they should be 'make these things faster' skills instead, except that with the ability to run an infinite number of machines nobody really cares how fast they can make things (with the exception of things with an expensive schematic).  They can just use more machines to make things faster.

Its almost as if the mission system is only in it's first iteration and it's almost as if they let somethings slide for way to long. Remember when we could warp with a docked cargo pod, and get the missions done in minutes, or remember when we could use VR?

I have no problem if there is a toggle option.  Same way there should be a toggle option for those ABOMINATION of glow rocks on every surface of the game.  the bare minimum would be a toggle option and be ok but NQ doesnt care about their game.  Making it look good while also "being good" attracts new customers.  Not saying the looks and asthetics are the only thing, but when i backed in alpha 1 i watched all the youtube videos i could and the game looked like a space game, and looked AMAZING to me leaving a planet and flying in space.  That can matter to attract new people.  Now you need legit gameplay to keep them.  But immersion always helps, and i felt more "immersed" during alpha then I do now.

Then make alioth 0.1 gravity. So they crash less.  You keep saying removing the nebula will make people crash.  It doesn't.  Sounds like you only played during alpha 3 when it went to $60 to get in.  I flew every test session during A1 and A2 never wrecked.  People wreck from rendering issues, or inexperience, or lack of talents flying heavy cargo.  Not because they cant "see something".  Those are facts.

If you like the nebula because u think it looks good thats opinion and fine whatever.  But trying to make shit up to prove your view of aesthetics makes you come off really bad.
