Not going to re-sub just to save items in a game that is likely to die after this patch goes live.  The people that think this is great because of all the salvaging are not thinking this through.  Short term fun at the cost of paying players returning.  Game over.

Enjoy my stuff... you and the other 8 players left should have a wonderful time with it for the time the game has left.  Too few players don't pay the bills at NQ.  This game was on borrowed time as it was.

Every successful sub-based MMO has only one interest when it comes to inactive players: get them to resubscribe.

Why do you think Netflix makes it so easy for you to pause or cancel? They know that at some point you'll come crawling back and don't want to piss you off in the meantime.

I get that they need a way to reclaim tiles to save money....but they are severely limiting the appeal of resubscribing. Even if their churn rate were low, that would be a problem long-term.

Without AvA or territory war, opening these dead tiles to first-come salvage is a weird idea -- make a way for the owner to reclaim (most) of the mats and delete it, don't just throw it into the wind and shrug at the concept of resubs.

Majorly counterproductive for NQ's bottom line.

For people who have been waiting to come back to this game, I think you have pretty much wrapped it up for them with the airbrakes and taxes.  These are things that should be done at a later time, not mashing in a bunch of changes all at once.  This many "shocker" changes at once is what led to so many leaving the game during the schematic debacle.
Mining unit idea is great, as it is on the roadmap and creates something new.  Work with that.
Voxel change... good, and I hope it works.  In theory, should reduce lag and improve performance.  Those two alone should keep your devs busy for months with the bugs likely to come about.  However, the taxes and airbrakes, will definitely reduce the lag as more players leave, and no way old players, like myself, will be returning.  Players are going to be busy enough having to dig out their structures as it is!  Having to rework or even scrap current ships due to the airbrake thing is not a way to keep players.  Implementing taxes on our territories on top of all of this?  Are you serious???
Please reconsider this.  Add things to do rather than penalties and nerfs.  Taxes on territories should be a release time "tweak", not a named patch feature.

I would argue the game is already dead. Everyone I knew that played the game, has gone.

Ok, usually i am not negative but the balance of Demeter on the PTS server has some severe problems.

    1. Territory costs of 1m per week:
this will lead to almost nobody claiming any tiles any more outside of the sanc moon unless the territory can produce some serious income. so all "player made content" will disappear after some time

    2. Scanning results do not get deleted and show l/h for mining units
this will lead to ALL really valuable tiles being claimed within the first 24h after demeter goes live, as it is really easy to identify  the most powerful tiles for mining units if you have containers full with scanner results.
so after day 1, the fun is over and the "mega tiles" will be claimed by those players/orgs that have all the existing scans.

NQ, as demeter is balanced on the PTS, it would kill the game if it goes to the live server

    - New players some days later would not have a chance to find income opportunities despite missions.
    - earning quanta will be a lot harder, so people would stop spending.. this would kill industrialists workflow.
    - the imbalance between experienced players/orgs and new players would get worse and even more players would demand a wipe or simply not enjoy the game

    please reconsider your decisions.

    Hagbard.

Is the introduction of weekly upkeep fees per tile just another iteration of kicking the energy systems can down the road?

I'm not comparing the current EVE to the DU of today. I'm comparing the possible future DU against the current EVE and the EVE of the past to the DU of today. Look at EVE from 2003, while I didn't play it then, I've seen gameplay from then and it was rough! I would even say that the current DU doesn't compare favorably to the EVE of December 2005 (when I started playing EVE)... DU has potential, sure, just not the potential of millions of monthly players (in our lifetimes). But currently I have large question marks whether or not DU will even be around in another year or so...

    I agree by 100%

Game has lost its track and became punishing simulator.

NQ Game designers: please reconsider about what you are doing.

To be honest the only way I see the game taking off is going back to pre .23. Buffing engines or making them smaller.  finally  Stop the punish the player behavior!   It just makes people leave.

This was the absolute best game since SWG  by a wide margin pre .23  The only thing it needed was more content.

Well, where to start, maybe with the definition of play:

Play is an activity that is performed without conscious purpose for pleasure, for relaxation, for the joy of itself and its result.

I chose Dual Universe as a game and not as a job.

Here was a text wall I spare you I tried to reduce it to a few points.

If Dementer Patch comes like it did on the PTS server, I will pack my things and go to the Sanctuary Moon.
I will not buy any more ships because I don't know if they will work tomorrow.
Also, I can't recommend the game or rather the working simulation at the moment.
I am annoyed that I invested the time and continued to play/work after the 0.23 patch to provide myself with schematics.
I will wait and see if the game survives.

Maybe NQ should hire someone who knows about game design.

To all others I wish a relaxing busy game.
