Yes. I have. It seems that sometimes there is a kind of build rectangle around the construct’s voxels that stretches out from the most protuberant voxel along the axis.

I had the same problem with a “train” track we built at the end of the alpha.

it was a 16m wide V shape track and the ship was supposed to sit in the V and move along the length. Only problem was that nothing could enter the V itself... It was as if there was an invisible layer of voxels covering the top of the V.

for some reason a week or so later, this no longer occurred and the 8km long track worked fine!

Thank you to Haunty above for the contribution.
I have completed my space station so can now answer some of the questions myself in the hopes it assists others.

CORE:  Yes, we need a space core and yes the core effects gravity direction.  My suggestion for your 1st station is to ensure the arrow is above the core and that the core is above the planet so that the gravity of the planet matches the gravity of core.  So, then if we build the landing platform between outer space and the planet gravity will assist landing.  So, gravity will pull us down onto the landing pad.

What happens to my ship whilst I'm building or placing the core:  A kind soul in support chat told me to log out and back in again so my ship would remain stationary.  Then I placed the core whilst standing on my ship.  Once the core is placed, we can go into build mode so we can move around the build area freely.  My ship stayed in place whilst I built and when I was half done I just used the move tool to place the ship.   Its hard to believe that the Devs planned for us to log out to get the ship to remain stationary.  Somebody in chat said maybe the remote control or emergency control could be used for this purpose (if you want full immersion).

ORBIT:  So, the core and therefore the station does not orbit the planet  (you dont even need to place them anywhere near a planet).  Space Stations are stationary objects.  A Space Core behaves just like a Static Core.  I'm telling you this because I originally thought they had to be orbiting a body.

PREPERATION:   Make sure you take a Space Core with you (obviously) and its a good idea if you carry enough materials to build a basic landing pad.  I just used my personal transport (no container) and my suit had enough room for a small core and honeycombe for landing pad.

    3) Gravity only happens when there are voxels or elements directly below the ship, if it is empty space it will float. Vertical boosters/engines also engage once you get close enough.
    4) Arrow direction doesn't seem to matter
    5) No

Before I start, this is just an example to get people going.  It's not meant to be the most min max example.  It's not as profitable as just mining, but mining gets old quickly and is time consuming while this gives you some free time to do other stuff.

It uses only t1 ores and only small industry.

4 x this set up will set up a 800 unit run every 280 minutes (with talents up, but not at 5) which you can sell to bots for 2mill.  About 12 million every 24 hours.  Provided you've got the ore, this will run itself.

Since you are likely to be new and cash poor, get these in stages.  For 1 set of 4 you will need

    5 Small containers
5 Small Industries (small basic atmosphere eng s)
4 Metalworks (basic reinforced frames s, basic burner s, basic screws, basic pipes)
    3 3D Printers (basic injectors)
    2 smelter (steel, silumin)
    1 chemical industry (polycarbonate plastic)
    2 refiner (ore to pure)
2 Transfer unit (screws and pipes)

This keeps max connections under 10.

Below us a rough flow chart on it's set up.

Once you are sure you understand the process you can go on to more complicated set ups.

Edit: I keep thinking injectors were called connectors, so the C in the containers that says f,b,c,s,p should be f,b,I,s,p.

Some cool ideas in there.  Material colour could be used to counter heat radiation.  For example polished metalic (silver like) radiate less heat than say matte black.

I like PvP but in any PvP game I have played I have never fired on an unarmed opponent (thats just to counter an opinion that all PvPers are seal clubbers) .
I feel that it would be fair if tier 2 and above ores were only mineable on non safe zone planets.

JC also said it would take months to get to space.

Let's be generous and say 2 months (minimum required to become plural).

Actual time to space was, I believe somewhere in the order of 20 to 30 minutes for the first space goer.
let's again be generous and say 30.....

It should have taken (according to JC) 24 hours a day for 2 months of 30 days is 1440 hours to reach space...  It took 1/2...
    That's a mistake factor of 2880 or nearly 3000...

If we apply that level of JC-level-brokenness to ore consumption, we can say 1900 years / 2880   =   2/3 of a year or 8 months for a team of 1000 to mine out alloth completely...

Yeah, I know I'm just having a lark, but still. this game is NOT going the way JC naïvely thought it would.

He needs to pull not just one, but 2880 rabbits out of a very big hat to keep this game working as intended for as long as he intended, at this rate.

--EDIT: Added an underline under the joking bit for clarity ?

You can come in at an angle, infact that is optimal in a heavy ship, but you need to keep your forward momentum up, if you just use brakes to slow you down and keep you below speed limit, then you completely loose all momentum, so whilst your ship is angled you are actually travelling straight down. I keep momentum up by dropping to around 1000kmh and then going full brakes and sufficient power to hold speed steady (80% in most of my ships), as I come into atmos I let the speed increase up, so I have plenty of forward momentum as soon as i break atmos.  That stops you dropping like a stone, using the third trajectory line is very useful for this method.

For what it is worth I am still loving the game, not even had to look at the ToS though, it doesnt bother the players that dont look to cheat (sorry, push the bounderies)

Hi, just had a forced 5 days offline due to PC dying and the replacement MB being faulty.  Lucky me.
Just tried to get into the game.  You know, I have to check that at least talents are training.
Anyway.  Login timeout, again and again.
I thought maybe the server is down but then do they communicate that anywhere but in game?  How are we supposed to know if the server is down.

So, is my server timeout issue an issue a lot of people are having and should I make a support ticket or is the server just down currently.  Cant find any info on the forum.
    EDIT:
I since found a forum post about timeout.  I rebooted my modem and was able to login into the game.  Was that why, I dont know but if your having issues it might be worth a try.

    Hi Peeps,

I have this issue too and a ticket logged as well.
I am in Australia using ISP Telstra. I was able to log in until the day of the loading rights issue - Last Sunday at around 2PM. On that day I logged in fine, I logged off successfully as well. No crash. They restarted the server I think, since then I haven't been able to log in since, except through a mobile hotspot but that isn't really a workaround as the reception in my area is garbage.
I have also completed the above list of steps including trying on another laptop entirely and on my neighbors internet connection (also Telstra) and I get the same error Login Timeout. I tried Nord VPN. It did not help me at all. Its been a few days now and I have no idea if there is any progress.
    open to any suggestions

Game started working for me today. Unsure what changed. Add in the step to restart your modem. hope that helps anyone out there with the same issue.

I am currently doing a series of videos about how to do other careers than mining in DU, our org is basically a network of independent businesses where we plug in players to allow them to do create there own business doing what they want.  I now never have the time to mine, i have several players who never mine, some build, some haul, some trade other members goods, infact the only people that do mine are those that want to.

Misunderstood, then. Yeah it will have to be tweaked but that's part of game balancing which is a separate discussion.

Having said that, there will always be orgs with people interested in different areas of the game. In EvE corps have people interested in trading, others mining, others setting up industry, others theorycrafting ships, and others doing the actual PvP.

I hope there is some reason for people to join large corps and/or alliances, which would lead to large fights.

Thats probably because of placing priorities - basic voxelmancy. When you place box next to box of different shape, its vertexes (simplifying to much - corners) are trying to comfort those around it (either new one is trying to do it or everything around new one - depending on placing priorities). Triangular shape has vertex in middle of diagonal - which makes behavior of it hard to predict if you don't understand underlying logic. I'm not that good at it so i won't try to get into more details. You should be able to find more information about it online googling for voxelmancy. Unfortunately that topic tend to be a bit hard to wrap your head around it..

If i remember correctly (i can't check for next several hours at least) - hovers have kind of "easy mode" setting turned on by default - this easy mode is why hovers always work "well" up to some height. Vertical boosters are working based on angles all the time Take it with grain of salt - its only hearsay from my side, I haven't used hovers in long time.

My observation thus far is.  Hover engines (especially if you have multiple) seem to automatically adjust the amount of thrust they provide depending on the angle of your ship to the ground and the weight distribution on your ship.  Boosters seem to provide a similar amount of thrust all the time.  So, if say the back is heavier then the ship will tend to tilt back at which point the boosters are now providing reverse thrust.
