  1. lol But to be honest, the only thing I really pray for are L wings xD
  2. No missions? Isnt .24 all about missions? :v
  3. What if flying wasn't as accessible/effective as it is now? I've had this thought because in the last 15 years I've played a lot of open world games, wow, minecraft, space engineers, rust, arma2 and 3 and a lot of dayz, mostly origins, and all of this games have one thing in common: flying is a huge game changer. It kills random encounters and it kills exploration/immersion, you no longer live inside the world, you only see it as a background as you're travelling from point a to point b. So again, what if flying (on planets) wasn't as meta as it is today? What if our ability to lift weight was dramatically reduced? Ground transport might become a thing, I'm not asking for wheels ofc (I'm perfectly aware how much Clang loves wheels), we have hovers, let's use them. Building roads/bridges/tunnels might be the one input that makes ppl work together. You would feel the world alive as you pass through the numerous factories built near the highway connecting two markets. Even PvP-wise it makes sense to give ground vehicles a role once territory warfare comes. What do you think? I'm not really into turning DU into euro truck simulator but honestly flying often makes things too easy and it kills a lot of experiences.
  4. It doesn't really take this much to implement specialization, just split the talent tree into paths and give us only 1 or 2 options. The problem is not pissing everyone off in the meantime ?
  5. There's nothing wrong in saying that DU's closest relative is Space Engineers, if we pretend to be unaware of JC vision and look at what the game is now then it's nothing more than SE. DU has clearly more features than SE (persistent universe, voxel editor, markets, talents) but there's still something missing like asteroids or constructs control panel (being forced to use LUA for me is pita, I'd love to have an easy interface to set up my ships like in SE). The truth is... if space engineers had a persistent universe we'll probably be all playing there. Edit: I missed a few updates on SE, it has markets, contracts (missions), no safe zones, shield generators to protect bases... It just lacks a persistent universe :s
  6. Also, if I remember correctly, the launcher says something like "your brain is working at 12%", we might assume that we don't actually train talents, we unlock memories. At some point someone will remember how to build a market xD
  7. Why bother for something that won't make any difference... after the wipe. I mean this attitude of no intervention speaks for itself.
  8. Well considering how many ppl pay multiple accounts just for talents I'd say they'll never let us train on 3 alts all together.
  9. Well you could disguise it as an event: "the invasion of market X", 1 mothership and dozens of little ships, like a sovereign from mass effect (super hard to build tho) and oculus drones, or the "tet" from Oblivion and again drones :v
  10. I still agree with the guy who suggested to overwhelm markets with stuff, I mean, if each of us drop 50 xs cubes NQ will be forced to intervene or the markets will be literally unusable.
  11. Main concern should be finding how they did it. Ffs this is not rust, im not here to log in and find myself naked on a shore.
  12. I don't think you can protect an element from impact damage. Main reason is because impact damage is only applied to elements, so voxels can't mitigate/absorb it. Second reason is that imho (but it's just a guess based on my observations) the game doesn't really care about which elements were caught in an impact, it start from there for sure but it keeps on going on until the damage has been fully applied. So if you suffer a damage higher than the overall hp of your ship (all element's hp combined) then your ship goes full red. Space engineers worked differently as far as I can remember, there was no way that the back of your ship suffered damage from a frontal collision. About how damage is calculated: I don't know, but elements can withstand a certain degree of damage thanks to their hp, but as you add voxels and cargo (which only increase mass and doesn't give you more hp in case of an impact) then your max "safe" speed goes down if you want to be able to withstand an impact. So heavier ships (expecially bigger and loaded) are less likely to survive a crash even at lower speed.
  13. You're basically showing up at an halloween party telling everyone is a retard for wearing costumes. If you don't like themed parties then just don't join one. If you can't stand ppl building whatever the hell they want then I suggest you to leave this game couse the problem is yours, not theirs.
  14. lol Cosplaying isn't illegal, go ask Comic-Con staff to ban all cosplayers couse of theft of intellectual property and tell us what they replied :v.
  15. Factions could have been a thing if done properly, like 3 home planets (Alioth, Thades and Madis), you get to choose where to start from and you get benefits only on your own planet, like the safe zone being limited to "natives". Beside that I still think industry should be somehow limited, I mean being able to produce anything is counter productive if they aim at cooperation, maybe splitting the industry talent tree into branches (assembly, metalwork, refinery, etc) and giving us only 1 choice could help. Ofc ppl will use alts to avoid this but they'll still be a minority.
  16. Imho being stuck grinding at the very beginning of the game is the worst possible start a game could offer. Before .23 you could at least feel a bit of progression by building a couple of machines to ease crafting, I remember spending my daily quantas on machines rather than on piloting elements because the nanopack was so painfully slow that I couldn't really stand it. Having the starter xs core filled with machines was actually satisfying and that got me hooked. How many ppl are now satisfied after days of mindless mining?
  17. Oh cmon basic t1 elements aren't really this expensive, with like 15/20mils you can get pretty much every schematic you need to set up a ship factory.
  18. It has been said a million times already, but without specialization you can't really have cooperation and a long lasting game. I ofc love that I can be a pilot, a miner, an industrialist and a builder, but it's honestly counter productive for the game longevity becouse first I only need myself, and second I can achieve everything in a relatively small amount of time (for a solo ofc). I find it weird that I can potentially have engame items this early into the game, the path from the basic speeder to an hauler capable of carrying kilotons it's really too short, to make a comparison imagine if we could make a raid of 300ppl and go naxx 1 month into wow vanilla. We probably need more dependencies from talents (eg you can't use XL space engines until you get space engines lvl 5) and a separate tech tree with researchs for individual components, I might specialize in metallurgy and make screws and pipes, but I need you couse you are specialized in making alloys, and you need him because he knows how to refine ores, and so on.
  19. One thing that concerns me about asteroids is that currently we can't detect them with radars, so having a space full of them would likely be a nightmare to explore, unless you want to roam in space at 1000km/h. We might need to see them with radars or they might give us some kind of sonar like the one in subnautica (which would also be helpful in case of a gas giant with, ehrm, gas everywhere xD).
  20. I don't know your values, with mines I get 3,867Mn if I add flat thrust first and handlig later, and 3,870Mn if I add handling first. These numbers are very close to each other so it's hard to tell which come first, if handling or +thrust, but in the end I guess the helper is probably rounding from ~3,87 to 3,85.
  21. The engines aren't obstructed and all engines have the same value. Btw I totally forgot there's an engine calculator on dual.sh, but it just gives me a flat +68% which doesn't really match with that 3.85M. Guess I'll just skip this planning and go overkill as usual xD
  22. As far as I can remember empyrion does have a tech tree, it's not like you unlock technologies by purchasing schematics from bots.
