I have zero experience with PVP, due to zero interest in it, so I will not comment this.

In regards to items being destroyed, especially outside of PVP, I don't think it is a very good idea.
I think most people commenting here, saying that it would be a good idea have vast DU experience and serious issues to change their point of view when it comes to DU beginners. Some have indeed addressed the potential impact on new players and the possible consequence of losing them permanently. One already said, no players = no DU. One time subscribers and a few PVP focused ones will not keep DU and NQ alive.

A common argument is that the economy is broken and requires a resource sink to fix it. I think proper PVP with permanently destroyed items would be enough already.
In my opinion a greater problem is the current market system, respectively the lack of information when it comes to prices and production cost. I'd guess that many people, if not even most,  that sell produced items at the markets, don't check production cost and also don't consider the transportation costs. Otherwise I've issues to understand why so many sell orders are way lower than the actual ore prices to produce said items. It is utter nonsense to sell an item for 100k when I need 200k to produce it. Even if I mine the ore myself, I still need to do that calculation. My interest lies in industry and I'd love to produce and sell goods with a small margin and even hire a trader or partner with one. DU makes this for me impossible right now because the prices are a joke. Selling ore brings the most profit so I have to go mining, although I'd love to do something else. I'm forced to do that as I cannot make proper profit with the goods I can produce. So I need to skill mining, need to skill container range, piloting and many other things I did not want to specialize in. Just to point it out, I literally sell nothing on the markets, it's just not worth it.

Implementing destruction will not fix the economy. Larger Organizations will just adapt and continue to produce their own stuff. The ore they require, they will mine and therefore, zero impact on the economy. The random, solo or new player will suffer.

NQ: If you really want to fix the market you need to implement more information. When I inspect an item, it needs to show the production costs (quanta), based on the average price of all sell orders of each ore amounts required to produce that item (just without skills). The average needs to exclude the 10 cheapest and 10 most expensive ones on the planet the player currently is. As you refer to IRL, you can also prohibit selling prices under creation costs, which is in IRL illegal in some countries. The same info needs to be in the create sell order screen ( info based on all markets of the planet the player currently is on) and tadaa, no one will sell an item under creation costs. You may take the skills into consideration but this will make it for new players a lot harder to produce and sell. It is unreasonable that players have to lookup such essential information at player made webpages, if they are lucky enough to know about them. Also, add an information text that reminds the seller to consider the costs for transport and the market tax (why actually, for a market on an otherwise basically empty planet?) as well.

This will set the ore prices realistically, the item prices too and the PVP destruction will be an appropriate money / resource sink. No need to grief players with painful crashing penalty. Repairing a hauler is already painful enough, especially when you compare it with a PVP XS Cube. I'm sure that may players will quit DU if they have to replace all elements on their ships over and over again, just because of crashes.

Next step, remove the stupid buy bots where people are selling honeycombs to for example, or at least, set all buy prices that low that no more profit is possible. Of course you need to think about some quanta generating mechanism after doing this.

This probably would also render mining automation unnecessary as there will be a valid marked for people specialized in mining. I'd be happy to buy ore if I could sell the products with a small profit in turn. This may finally trigger the other niches you were hoping for, protection service providers for miner / hauler etc.

Just my two cents, I'm happy to read your opinions about this.

I can seethe argument that these changes are too much in one go and may need further refinement but then again, this is NQ and their trackrecord here is not one of subtle and well considered actions but more like the "let's see what this button does" kind.

I have been very vocal about this since it started happening but it has always been the same, “ it will fine”, “no one is abusing this” kind of deal. At least they stop it, even if it was too late and they allow people to abuse it. It doesn’t matter now, there are bigger fish to fry now...

You can thank your fellow players who abused the TP option and overloaded the support system on Discord where the tech support channel basically became a "get your free TP here" channel.

No I'm not blowing it out of proportion. Learning to fly, people crash, or at least I did several times. If this were implemented, my stuff would've been destroyed and would've been forced to buy new stuff with extremely limited money. This will hurt new players coming into the game since destruction happens from a simple crash. It's going to discourage new players and they won't stick around.

Pretty clear that if a container it’s 100% destroyed, everything inside is also destroyed. Only damage containers can be repaired and/or looted/use. So for example, if all your fuel tanks are destroyed, you no longer have any fuel and will stop/drop as engines can’t run; Or if all your ammo boxes are destroyed then you can no longer shoot; Or from your own question, if your cargo container it’s destroyed, then everything inside is lost. I hope that helps.

I did not think DU could get anymore lame or boring.  I was wrong.  Every time I see DevBlog I think maybe this time they add some fun to the game and each time I am wrong.  I will stop being excited now and just assume that DU is what DU is and forget about fun.  I did what you said, I built a ship, I got those resources, I did all the grinding, and none of it was fun.  I was hoping for a little payoff with exploration but the big orgs got it all before I even heard about it.  So much for fun!  Well I gave it a chance, and I gave it my money, and now I am giving up on DU.  I loved the idea of making the things that DU claim, but in practice it does not work.  The LUA is limited and only programmers use it well.  I did exactly as DU suggested, and I tried to build the things they claim I can build, and nope!  Why did you not make the lua work like app inventor 2?  Why are we actually writing code when we have the technology to not have to write code.  Just another way of killing all the fun!  This game is all about massive org play, and massive orgs are run by little dictators, which means regular joes like myself end up going it alone and getting nowhere.  What a stupid concept for a game.  Reminds me of eve online.  LMFAO!

You are trying to fight on the wrong front. PvP in its current state is a disgrace, and future PvP works is at the bottom of the road map, maybe 12 months from now if they can get everything else ready. I have said this, again, 2526 times on the other threads that you could have posted on, PvP’ers are in for a huge surprise if they get the entire game to open up to PvP minus one moon. There isn’t enough PvP’ers to support this game financially and PvP is not the game, it’s 1/4 of the game, why do you think all the PvP updates are at the bottom of the list..........

Now,  let’s indulge your fantasy for a minute. They open everything to PvP and you confine everyone else to one moon. The lag will be phenomenal, to the point that they will start bleeding subs. They have to provide a place that people can use to build if they choose, fly and test their ships if they choose, without been destroyed the second they enter space.

If you can counter what I have said with a solution on how the 7 of you plan to support the game financially for the years to come, I will never post on this forums again, otherwise, I’m not interested in your destroy everything mentality.

Weak. Scapegoating. Poor leadership. No accountability. Bad communication. Terrible decision.

    I'm out.

Next time you fck up, man up, take responsibility, have a laugh because It's a game, and keep people who are so engaged in the game that they're curious and exploring every possible aspect of it. These people finding bugs are the ones you want. You're going to be left with some boring ass vanilla gamers who want to stay in their bubble and not touch anything, and this whole game is going to be bugged to shit and will become unpopulated.

Reverse the decision and show you've actually learned from YOUR mistakes, and I'll be renewing. Otherwise, I'm not putting another dime into a game with immature devs who blame their users rather than take responsibility.

I'm just going to state this heavy handed action was intended to cover for their mistakes.  No sympathy for the devs in this, stuff like this makes me not want to support them.  God complex, and taking an opposite stance to the RDMS rules, because it was their error and not that of a player.  I should have processed my refund during launch, haven't had time to play, don't think I want to now.

The issue lays in the matter of reporting and leaving it to luck, that be, they either look at the ticket and close the loop or ignore the ticket until it sorts itself out. Because tickets are backed up for months ( I still have a few exploit tickets open since forever), it’s must likely that the only way this bugs and exploits will be close once and for all it’s when stuff like the market heist happens. I lost it when the banning occurred (even tho I agree 100% on the ban) because the only reason this happened was because it made NQ look really bad on Reddit, nothing else. Yet, the same is happening to players but that’s ok.......double standards it’s the nail in the coffin they really don’t need.

With that said, I have never supported cheating in any game, and punishment needs to be handle in all cases and not in a select few, regardless if this is a beta, a paid beta or a poorly executed Alpha pretending to be a Beta. At this point it’s all up to us, do we really want to continue to support this dumpster fire and help put it out or do we simply walk away cause the flames got to big, that’s real question.

According to JC, the current planets are "good enough" so they "decided" to not put the new tech in and as a result not do the partial wipe for it.

Frankly, if a dev says that something is "good enough" when it's clearly function but could be much better, there is other reasons and as he instantly also said that they intend to get new planets in sooner for me that means they were asked to not do the new tech as the wipe would mean more work and potential loss of  claimed tiles as these would be reset as well (with TU returned to inventory.

Settling for less when you know you can do better and have the tech to me is a big red flag and NQ made the wrong choices there and sacrificed the quality of their game for the benefit of some of the player base who have their ear.

I heard a rumor about how people can set any construct to public.

Basically, either have a laggy connection or be really fast, approach a random construct, and before the client loads the rights, r-click the construct and share it with all.

    Any truth to this?

so has anyone been able to PROVE that the guy that got ban hammered didnt just exploit the RDMS then play dumb afterwards "well durr i r hit B and thought it ok to steal market" or are we just taking his word for it because "individual player good, corperation baaaad"? Also has anyone checked to see if the so called report was actully sent or is a photoshop? For the ones claiming they could access it as well, was it before this dude killed the market? Namely, did the access pop up at the same time as he started messing with it i.e he exploited and set it public and others could access it? Or was it buildable for a while before that point?

Not accusing anyone, i just want to know if its been fact checked or not? If it has then can someone post the link? if not then why has it not been fact checked and why does everyone just assume its correct?

So basically - what you're saying if players screw up RDMS, it's on them, if NQ screws up RDMS, it's a violation of the EULA?

Really guys? It's pretty clear when players are able to get access to other peoples constructs that they were 'not intended' to have access by the owner. Yet when it's players, that's fine.

But when YOU screw up - you ban the players?
