Because you wouldn't get the best of either

You play a game for a longer time than someone, you should be able to be more advanced. As mentioned, the variety and need to focus on a general specialty allows variety. Eve's skill system while frustrating waiting is much better than any other mmo I have played. Newbies have the same opportunity to be as good as me in an area if they put in the same time as I did training. It is fair. The thought in another post had an idea of mixing the time based skill learning with a type of more efficiency in a skill the more you do it. Both the time based and grind based system though would have to have maxes of course.

While the feeling and the theoretical side of this is appealing, I think in reality it wouldn't work well. People in Alpha should be focused on smooth gameplay finding bugs, not what cool thing should I build so it is an ancient relic in game release.

Basically like animal NPCs but those won't be in game until later I think I heard.

Well ... who would decide that? Good point OP. I have not played Second life .... still working on my first one ... but nothing should disappear. HOWEVER, I don't think the new ownership of something intellectual should be up for grabs. I can't claim Nicola Tesla's stuff now since he has passed. Now if he gave me blueprints then I have the knowledge, but simple knowledge transfer through the invisible world shouldn't be a thing in DU IMO. Now to be clear I am seeing two separate things in this thread .... abandoned items to be claimed which I agree with but ownership of a creative design should not be able to be claimed ... unless I misunderstood some posts.

It is the Eve Online model .... which has been successful for over a decade.

Hey I've been working a bunch and will be the next 10+ days or so but I'm still interested in this if it is still going on. I think I left my SE toon without O2 tanks and still on a broken ship lol

Here too ... took me about 5 log ins before I realized I didn't need the invite to get into the DU room after the first time .... lol

Dual Access Coupons (DAC) as Payment for Development
DaSchiz replied to CodeGlitch0's topic in General Discussions
If allowing in game currency to purchase real game time is a d-bag move ... then I'd wish all developers were d-bags .... faceslap me all day and I'd be happy with having that problem of having too many DAC's lol I don't want this to be an overtly negative post, but bear with me.. You make and invent to play the game ... and if it gets you free play time to a subscription game then that's a very nice bonus. If you do have such a stockpile of DAC's you can sell them in market and use the game cash for whatever you want. I see what you are saying but I do not see any d-bagging or negative to being in such a position. NQ needs to make a profit for their product and that is to be expected and I hope they do so I can play this for years and years. Playing a game and doing stuff in game only can yield you game rewards .... well duh. You are not being hired by a development company, you are choosing to join an MMO. I would worry more about the game mechanics and how to make the digital cash first before worrying how you are getting cheated by such success. There are many smart creative people you will be in competition with.- 28 replies
