Hey man -> here is the thing - you still ship from other players? No problem. Gms teleport this ship back during heist? Okey, lets steal another. Still no problem. Than lets steal whole bases. Using rdms? No info about bans? No problem. Actually allowing it in rules? No problem. So lets steal base using exploits. Still no problem? Nope, noone was officially ban. Whats next? Well, we can clearly see. Market. Oh, and here finally is a line. <facepalm> Sorry man, but this is straight forward consequence of current NQ politic on exploits and bugs.

And now this, permabanning for rdms mistake by people who did the system in the first place. Sorry man, but after that great string of no real consequences - at least perceivable consequences - for not reporting and than abusing mechanics and exploits?  I'm too salty to see it as anything but straight forward "lets check the limit" yet again - which was encourage by that politics - and now overreaction on the NQ side.
On side note - i'm as certain as possible without making such report myself that if they would comb they communication channels they would find reports of it going back few days.

Ps. I doubt it will take more than 16 manhours to sort it out all. I'm so salty that the only difference between that and lose of all the players, that i can see is that NQ actually need to pay for those hours - oh my.... While players rebuilding their ships, bases, etc.? Who cares about their time, its beta after all.

Then I exect NQ will be consistently harsh to "bad guys" from now on, without any difference against who (or how) they do funny (not intended by mechanics) things.

Usually i'm on NQ's side for most things but this is pretty much the definition of "righteous justice" .
All this due to your horrendous RDMS system which is highly suceptable to exploits.
You think losing a Market is a big deal but some of us lost days, weeks, hell even months of work from these holes in the system.
We got people making tickets, creating Forum posts for days in a row only for our concerns to be met with absolute silence?
Perhaps it's time to take a step back, if you want a system that rewards scammers and exploiters at least do the courtesy and offer some basic countermeasures.

Throw them in a dungeon in JCs castle for a week and strip them of their loot. Seriously.

We'd all have had a good laugh about it and it'd would have been somewhat within the spirit of the game.

Truth be told i think everyone here would be okey with it if they start right now perma-ban worst exploiters too. But that won't happen, will it? -.-

If they start enforcing all the rules that way now, i'm fine with that. Its just i don't believe it will happen.

No problem. Just after we remove possibility that one or two "2 persons XS ships" can kill any M or L ship regardless of how many crew / guns victim has.

Backchannels are problem - but one that could have been said was not officially allowed by NQ. Admitting to giving handouts in public podcast made official by company and staring company top people, is quite few levels further into BS.

That is an entirely irrelevant analogy

Yes, development has missed several milestones (well, they actually removed or pushed out items from the milestones in order to meet them) and if you would make the case that NQ may well have bitten of more than they can chew and will need far more time then they still think they will to get the initial game "done" I would certainly agree to that. But as it stands, this does not entitle you to anything. You too a "risk" and pledged X amount based on what you saw when you joined back in April. Frankly, as you joined during Alpha 3 you would have had a pretty good idea of where the game would go unless you pledged without much thought at the time. From the moment you pledged the game has also not actually missed any milestones and the roadmap as it was back then is still pretty much in place.

You are not an investor which means that just because the game is not progressing fast enough for you or in the direction you thought it would is unfortunate for you but it does not entitle you to anything. Frankly, I can't help but consider you're just reverse engineering a possible way to get $60 returned to you.

I'm more concerned about player tactics and uhh 'playstyles' and devs being surprised by them. The current PvP meta is a perfect example.

It should have been obvious that the rules as they are favored xs cubes with L weapons and crippled everything else. It should have been obvious on paper. Yet here we are.

This is why I'm actually dreading territory warfare despite being very pvp focused at heart. If they released pvp in this shape, and yeah I know it's the first pass and yeah I know that they know it's broken, what shape will TW be in on day one?  The fact is  that the pvp as implemented was non viable  and yet was totally missed. What will TW be like if the 'vision' blinds them to the reality of how such games are played?

JC is too blinded by what he wants DU to be to see what it actually is and is too busy imagining how players will play the game instead of actually looking at how other games like this were played. It's almost like he's willfully ignorant or just outright deceiving himself.

The interview is a perfect example of the mindset. The people who solve the puzzle used a bug to find the artifacts. This is what happened. No JC - the fact that they made a lua script to further abuse this bug doesn't make it more like RPO and doesn't mean that technology was being developed to solve a puzzle. A bug was further being abused  - or leveraged if you prefer to use a less polarizing term - to solve the puzzle. That is what happed. There can be no debate around this.

This is where so much of the disconnect and frustration I have is. Use an untended mechanic to steal a ship? You're bad for using an 'exploit'. Use a bug to find artifacts? Get an interview with JC praising you for it. Come on.....

....and if it were - that would NOT be a good thing!

Alright, this is something that's been bothering me for some time from JCs interviews - and yesterday's Easter Egg interview pushed me over the edge to where I really have to say something...

First and foremost - lets face the reality that Ready Player One would be a horrible game for most people nor would the events of the book be enjoyable for the majority of the player base.

If you're looking at your game and going "Hey look it's just like RPO!" - what I hear is "Look just a handful of no lifers got to have all the fun!". That IS the plot of RPO. A tiny group of players who take the game WAY WAY WAY WAY too seriously get to enjoy the content while the rest may as well not exist.

The puzzle fit this perfectly. A tiny group of players with tons of NDA covered information going back to pre-alpha solve a puzzle while the rest of the community doesn't even know it exists. Yup  - very RPO.

JC - The takeaway from the puzzle event should not be that "Look it was just like RPO! I did a good job!" - it should be that "The event was a complete failure and did not involve the majority of the community in a meaningful way, and was solved largely due to a bug and alpha knowledge that was not available to the bulk of the community."

Please please please for the sake of DU - stop trying to make this game like a fictional book about a fictional game. You need to take a serious look at how other games have done community events and have managed to involve much larger groups of players. Everything from opening the gates of Ahn'Qiraj to the Elite Dangerous Alien events - yes they were flawed in their own ways - but by and large involved more people.

Finally, this doesn't just cover events. The general game mechanics cannot be based on the mindset "Just like RPO!" - because I repeat - RPO would be a horrible game. In fact, I would go as far as saying if you are looking at any upcoming part of the game like AvA or Territory Warfare or Atmospheric combat and can say "This is just like RPO!" - then it probably needs to be reworked to NOT be like RPO but to be like an actual game that would be fun for more people.

Once again - face reality - RPO was a no life simulator where only the no lifers mattered.

This means designing things in consideration of players who are not willing to play DU 16 hours a day - and entire teams of such players.

Players are not going to want to spend hours waiting for an attack on a territory to man the manual guns because you refuse to consider automatic defenses.

Players are not going to want to fly dedicated gunners or escorts for every single hauler just because they may get attacked.

Players are not going to want to sit in their ship for hours watching the radar while their orgmates mine out an asteroid.

I could go on and on, but the core point is that the game mechanics need to be designed around giving people who do not no life the game a chance to have fun and stand a chance in pvp vs those that do.

The thing is, I think if NQ didn't offer TPs it would actually give the community a chance to help instead.

Look at the Fuel Rats in Elite.

I'm personally totally down to fly out to help someone recover their ship.

Unless your ship teleported 5km into the ground, it can be recovered with the help of other players easily

Been thinking about posting this for a while but thought NQ would have done something already.

Going to post this as politely as I can but the support giveaways are a COMPLETE JOKE.  50% of people are lying, this is obvious because they say things like:

"I crashed when coming into atmosphere, logged back in and my ship was destroyed" - bullshit, you crash your ships stops what they actually means is "I have a really heavy ship, I crashed the game coming into atmosphere because i couldnt slow down, logged back in with zero momentum and my massively overweight ship fell like a rock"

"I just died on XXXXX insert planet and have magically teleported to Ailoth, can you port me back" = I was mining and tried to use the force respawn to cheese back to my ship, but didnt check my node before I used this soft exploit

This is causing a LOAD of problems, firstly you are completely shielding these new players from any survival elements of the game, experienced players know to fly with good scrap and extra fuel.  New players arent learning these lessons because when they make mistakes (and most ARE player mistakes) they get freebies.

The worst part about all this is that they are making a huge section of gameplay / career paths completely redundant.  In alpha there were loads of players planning to set up as repair / refuel crew or taxi services, I have reached out to several of these to see how business is and there ISNT ANY.  The game has limited career paths as it is (without really knowing the game) these are some of the more obvious ones and you are making them irrelevant.  The longer this goes on the worse it will get.

My solution - send out an email saying that the daily quanta is being continued but it is being called BETA SUPPORT INCOME, it is paid to ensure players have funds in case of emergency.  You then reach out to verified support services orgs and bring them into support via some additional channel, where you can send people who need there services.

This needs to be done soon, as you are making a massive rod for your own back by giving this crutch to new players (although seen several vets abusing it too).

Let's be real those people who have a problem with 7$ a month would have a problem with anything that isn't free.  They move from new game and play through it's trial period and move on to the next one.  Nothing more than a plague of locusts on the gaming community.

But that is just my 25 years of online gaming experience has shown me.  I maybe jaded.

I am currently doing a series of videos about how to do other careers than mining in DU, our org is basically a network of independent businesses where we plug in players to allow them to do create there own business doing what they want.  I now never have the time to mine, i have several players who never mine, some build, some haul, some trade other members goods, infact the only people that do mine are those that want to.
