The only thing I don't like about schematics is managing them. Can I just have one central schematic bank on a core that all the machines can access?

We received feedback that there were some sound effects (SFX) issues that arose with the Apollo update on the Live server; however, they were not happening on the public test server (PTS). Here's where we're at with those:
The cause for the warp drive sound issue has been identified and will be addressed in an upcoming patch.  We are continuing to investigate an issue related to piloting sounds.
Thank you to everyone who submitted reports and especially to those who sent in video clips.

Not really and the way this is worded shows that NQ does not really understand the concept/mechanic. Tracking is directly related to transversal velocity as in; If there is no transversal velocity, the big guns will track just fine and probably one-shot the smaller ship. If the smaller ship uses it's agility to create transversal velocity which is higher that the tracking ability of the larger guns, it will be come (much) harder for the guns to track and hence, hit. I doubt DU actually takes transversal velocity into account or even calcutates it.

looks like some great changes, but i would like to point out that there is still not really a point to using non L cores. even if you wanted to use xs guns it would be much more worthwhile to put those xs guns on an L core.
I am also worried that there will be many ships which will look like giant pins, having a really small cross section and an L shield to mitigate as much damage as possible.
I think if you added some sort of benefit with smaller cores that you cannot replicate in an L core, like having a higher max speed or a hit probability bonus would help to see more xs cores on the battlefield, because as I said there is nothing stopping you from just putting an xs sized ship in an L core to take advantage of the higher dps.
I am also kinda unhappy that engineering/repairing gameplay has been thrown out the window. perhaps adding something else to do like a shield controller which could be connected to a shield and controlled to assist with shield protection would help.
I also have a problem with burying seats in the center of ships. having the need for windows for pilots etc would lead to some really creative ship designs imo.
and another thing; this might be controversial, but I think that you should be unable to solo pilot ships with non xs guns by using a remote control and a gunner chair simultainously. solo piloting should be a niche that only xs guns can take advantage of, not S,M and L guns as well.

although i really like the idea of asteroid mining in DU i cannot see how the current implementation could create interesting gameplay besides very basic risk vs reward.

    - please replace fixed spawn times of asteroids by random ones for singe asteroids until maybe a max number is spawned in the system
    - please replace the scanning system by something that involves player skill ( the real one)
        - scan results should only give a rough estimate of direction to asteroirs ( or other objects) forcing miners and pirate to triangulate asteroids by moving their ship and scanning again,
maybe implement a tool to display scan results inside an ingame 3d map of the system
        - distances of scanned asteroids should only be roughly available when the scanned object is close and the signal is good
    - please remove the broadcast and centralised access to an asteroids database
        - asteroid positions can be really valueable trading goods
        - you never know if the asteroid you are just scanning is already empty or just beeing mined

    - despawn asteroids either by total living time or by them beeing empty for a certain time to make place for new ones
    - if a pvp hotspot is needed add an area where its more likely to find asteroids like an asteroird belt ( no need for a artificial density in asteroirs, they can be out of sight of each other)

    Hi everyone.

    Alright, this is enough derailing.
As mentioned in the forum rules (III. Prohibited actions, 13th point):
"Discussions and comments involving real life politics, ideology or religion. These can be incendiary topics and will usually lead to inappropriate behavior and uncomfortable situations."

As the whole idea of this topic is to make the discussion political, it will be now locked.
You're free to comment on liking (or not) some parts of the current gameplay, and it can be beneficial to improve the system, but don't start to bring politics into it, or make some assumptions about a potential political agenda behind it. There is none. The game offers possibilities, maybe not all those each player would like to see, but in the long run, the goal is (and has always been) to aim  to give players as many possibilities as possible. If it will become more limited than expected, it will be essentially due to time, balance or technical constraints, nothing more.

    Best Regards,
    Nyzaltar.

broad casting asteroids sounds like a bad idea in general
scanning system with a mix of real live skills ( know how to) and ingame character skills would be great to get a hint on an asteroids position.
maybe even with deviation, so that finding them could lead to an actual challenge for both miners and hunters, where the hunters have no guarantee that there is something to shoot and loot.

The "red arrow" is in typical NQ fashion a poor mans version of territory war.
Quick and easy to implement, but riddled with balancing issues. Just the kind of solution NQ loves..

A: You are going to have to use resources finding and scanning the asteroids, mine the resources within a time limit and then transport ore while protecting yourself from attacks.
B: Just sit back and wait for the notification on where you should attack.

    antanox reacted to NQ-Deckard in 0.25 & 0.26 Q&A
We invited you to ask questions about 0.25 and 0.26 for a Q&A, and you did not disappoint! Here are the responses to some of the most commonly asked questions.

The community also expressed curiosity about issues related to schematics and voxels. Those are both important topics that we think would be better served in separate, focused discussions. We’ll hit those for you soon.

Big thanks to everyone who submitted questions. Let’s keep the conversation going!

    1. Will the PTS receive a newer image when the next iteration comes through?
Our most important consideration is to ensure better, smoother releases. (Can we agree that Hermes went pretty well?) Unfortunately, that means that migration to PTS is not on the priority list. Migrating the database from the live environment to the PTS requires a lot of work from our DevOps and Production teams, among others. These resources are scarce in the company, and, as usual, it’s about choices.

We’d like to remind you, though, that playing on PTS comes with a lot of perks, such as dispensers with infinite resources, the ability to change skills at-will, millions of quanta, etc.

    2. Are there going to be any changes to nerf the ability to use multiple alts with the hauling missions?
We don’t currently have plans for that. We consider the cost of moving a package being the movement of the mass. You still need a bigger ship to move a larger amount of cargo. That said, we will consider the question of alts carefully for future mission types.

    3. Will you be adding a way to identify which packages belong to which mission?
This is a great suggestion! We definitely see how it would bring quality of life for mission-takers out there. It seems quite doable although it’s unlikely we can include it with Apollo (0.26) since that’s already underway internally and should come to the PTS soon; however, we’re in the process of discussing how we can add it to a future release.

    4. Are org changes coming with 0.26?
Following feedback from the community and discussions with some of the major org leaders, we announced this week that the org changes have been postponed. While we still need to address issues caused by nested organizations, we also want to make sure that we approach the changes in a collaborative manner with the players. With more options to consider and more conversations needed, it’s highly unlikely that these changes will come with the next major version, Apollo (0.26).

    5. Will you please elaborate on what you mean by "PvP balance changes"? Will you be improving combat with smaller cores/stopping cube designs, etc., or just adding shields?
We’ll share more details as the Apollo release date gets closer. To give you a little sneak peek now, we can say that overall it will feature weapons changes (including cosmetics), PvP-related bug fixes, the introduction of shields, and quite a few changes to the overall balancing of PvP. We would like to manage expectations by stating that this will be the first wave of changes and that we will have more heavy PvP-focused releases in the future.

    6. Is passive mining coming before asteroid mining?
Planet/passive mining is planned for the release after Apollo, codenamed Demeter. With Apollo, we are focusing on the introduction of asteroid hunting and mining gameplay. We’ll communicate more about it once Apollo is out of the way, but rest assured that these changes to mining are not too far in the future.

    7. Do we get to have mining elements for ships?
With Apollo, we will introduce one new element called the DSat scanner, which will be used to hunt down asteroids and discover their location. Mining itself will work as it currently does on planets though. More info on Apollo features coming soon.

    8. Will asteroid mechanics still put a huge red arrow over your head by broadcasting the position through the universe, removing any need for PvPers to put effort into finding those who go out and find asteroids?
To clarify, some asteroids will be in the PvP zone and some won’t. Asteroids in the PvP zone will have higher chances of including higher-tier ore and, as such, will be more valuable. But asteroids in safe zones should be worth your while, too.

There will be a countdown between the time an asteroid is discovered by a player and the moment when its location is broadcast to other players. (Currently, the gap is four hours but this may change once we get feedback from players.) It shouldn’t be enough to completely deplete an asteroid of all its ore, but it should be enough to mine all the good stuff first. Once the location is publicized, it’s up to you if you want to stick around to finish mining the asteroid or move away before the pirates show up.

We think this will provide interesting collaboration mechanics (mining while others protect the miners, for example) and, yes, additional PvP opportunities. We don’t think it will become an easy targeting system for pirates, though, as there’s no guarantee miners will still be on site by the time they arrive after learning of an asteroid location.

    9. Will the asteroid system use the current land mining system, 400m manual scanner and hand-operated vein or will it be blocks of pure ore?
Yes, asteroid mining will use mechanics similar to the current on-planet mining gameplay. Think of them as mini-planets with valuable ores.

What you describe here is capitalism, not socialism. what that American told you is incorrect, stop listening to Americans, and educate yourself on the topic by doing your own research, you can literally google this. but I'll try and put it as simply as I can.

CAPITALISM: is when a "capitalist" owns and controls the resources and means of production, an can decide what to do with those resources.

So in an org, the Legate/ Capitalist takes ownership of the "Members/ Workers" resources, and they alone have the power to decide what to do with those resources.

SOCIALISM: is when the "workers" own and control the resources and means of production. an can decide what to do with those resources.

if Orgs where socialist, there would be NO "Legate/ Capitalist" , because "Members/ Workers" would own and control the resources and means of production, and they would collectively decide what to do with those resources.

That's the basics... you can research and learn more on your on. which I highly recommend.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
so·cial·ism /ˈsōSHəˌlizəm/   noun noun: socialism a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

It is impressive to see what “anti-red” or “fear of communism” propaganda has done in the minds of some people.

Rest in peace free will, it is something that is lost ... Or educational problems ...

It is funny to see that you accuse an entirely capitalist game following very closely the ultra liberal political movements.
JC did not hide it. He even tweeted a month ago praising the "creatoreconomy" ...
And it is in France the dominant polithic current of the moment.
We also call that a "start up nation" polith

For JC (and NQ?) The organizational system is a multitude of micro enterprises and you have to work for each other. Each service will have to be paid and pay to another player.

In short, it is a political choice that dictates this organizational gameplay.
This is nonsense because over several millennia of history (the one with a capital H), we have seen that empires and society worthy of the name are developing thanks to state institutions possessing inalienable goods regardless of the people. at the head of the institution.

This is what is missing in DU so that we can really create organizations (see the current drama with the core limit).

We are therefore not at all in a socialist model. But beautiful and good in a few things that are 100% capitalist. In an organization you work for a boss (or a group of bosses) => You give him all what you produce and in exchange he will have to give you a salary / asset (or benefits in kind).
And you should do the same with your micro business / organization.

    In conclusion:
You name some things that you do not know by some things that you are afraid of but that you do not know either.
You don't know what socialism is.
You also don't know what neoliberal capitalism is.

Give us a way to highlight them so that we can discover them and remove them.
