How does Swap Spot work?

 

* Your ore is assigned Resource Points, RP for short.

 

* The higher the RP, the more valuable that ore is to the Swap Spot.

 

* Elements have a set RP value.

 

* Swap Spot swaps the ore RP value for the Element RP value.

 

 

Step 1) Determine that you have enough ores at the value shown to order the elements you need.

 

Step 2) Simply click the name of the element(s) you want on the screen.

 

Step 3) Using the +1 / +10 / -1 / -10 buttons assign the number of element you want

 

Step 4) you can use the <Page / Page> buttons to move through the several pages of available elements.

 

Step 5) The total order value is shown on the top of the screen, assuming you have enough ores to start the transaction click on the ORDER button at the bottom of the screen.

 

Note: You can order multiple different elements at the same time speeding up the process dramatically.

 

 

 

 

Step 6) Once you order your elements simply deposit the ores you wish to swap in the provided container hubs.

 

The ore gets removed and Resource Points, RP's, are assigned to your order and are tallied at the bottom of the screen.

 

(Please make sure you have enough ore to fully pay for your order.)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 7) Then simply wait for the Swap Spot to deliver your order - note deliveries can take several minutes, so please be patient.

 

When an element arrives in a container hub the light next to it will flash

 

Note: Swap Spot delivers the higher Resource Point elements first.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 8 ) Once you have all your items simply leave the Swap Pod.

 

This will auto end the transaction.

Like, what's the rate of that thing compared to selling and buying ? It's not like there is a problem selling hematite nowdays

I haven't reinvented quanta at all, Resource Points (RP's), are simply the value that the Swap Spot puts on ores to make the Elements it provides. It's a personalised factory, not a market as such.

It seems to me that you have invented a new currency that only works in your system.

Your description of RP's could be the exact same description as quanta.

The horrible marketing makes me want to throw up. 

That said the game is supposed to switch to player run markets at some stage so well done.  I imagine that player run or org run markets will become necessary in the future as market owners begin to refuse service to certain competitor orgs.

If a game makes you throw up, I suggest you take a step back, get some air and reevaluate your lifestyle choices.  Smh.

Currency is a general, wide area use, value representation mechanism. The Swap Spots Resource Points are an internal value just to the Swap Spot, its not general use nor wide spread, so its not a currency. In fact, one Swap Spot will have different RP values to another Swap Spot, as RP's are a gauge as to 'how hungry' each Swap Spot is for various ores.

Secondly, its not meant to compete with an NQ run market, thats not what it does. What it does do is allow anyone who can harvest a rock, or mine a node, to directly turn that ore, with high industry efficiency, without them needing to know a thing about industry, into a usable element within minutes.

In lieu of player ran markets, this is a very inventive solution! There are arguments both for and against this, but to me, the fact it is player built and ran, all I can do now is say KUDOS!

Update: The Swap Spot is still running after the industry update to provide everyone with many T1 elements - just bring ore along to swap!

I like it.  Not sure we would ever use it, but I like the concept.  Probably needs to be updated almost hourly due to fluctuating ore values.

The ore values are based on what the Swap Spot needs, and not market quanta values, and thats updated every minute

 

For example, current Resource Point Values:

 

Ores that have 0.0RP means that the Swap Spot has either too much of that particular ore, or, it has no use/need for that

ore at this time.
