I'll add waifus on my ship, loads of them, and maybe screens on the outside showing them too, so that makes Tranquility safe?   Might even add the Text, "This City is protected By 02" With a nice graph, anything else? (and we will add loads of guns and voxel spikes  )

Oh yes I am very aware of the current "quality" of the game right now. I still like that the NDA stands as a barrier from full disclosure. Though, I strongly believe all current alpha and beta testers deserve access to the NDA sections and information. Because right now, the "public" sections that are not tied behind a paywall are fairly dead overall and the sections covered under NDA are very active. Everyone who is here now, is here to support the game. How the devs believe slowly allowing NDA access too everyone currently involved in supporting the game; will somehow preserve future hype is beyond me. Because everyone here, has already paid to boost the game's success.

In my humble opinion, the devs are only annexing the large majority of their fan base by not including everyone in the NDA discussions. But somehow in a couple months that same information will be magically okay to view and comment about? Like I said, beyond me and my practical line of thought.

What we need to understand before processing the AI idea is :
Havin an AI controlling your character means constantly heavier server load,
They are not going to make mining automatable,
Selling stuff offline means botting the market
If they are not able to defend properly and the AI goes statistics for defense solving, it's going to put people in trouble, or force them to leave base to disconnect.

Not saying these issues can't be limited/configured...

Now to get specific on the issue of persistence, you could have like a "pod" to sleep in, where no one can loot or kill you unless they destroy said "pod", the character just sleeps on the ground otherwise, or any place (ships, roofs, whatever). Shouldn't be able to sleep underwater/floating in space tho...
For now i'm about sure it's not priority, gameplay wise i think it's an interesting matter, why making rooms/safeplaces if you can just pop in and out? where the subject is the most sensitive is about higher tier stuff... should you be able to log off and disappear with these, and then having the issue of safe transportation in dangerous conditions unbalancing the game??

Can't see anything about this in the Trello. Ideas?

SP isn't an actual 'protectorate' as we know it. We had a poll for our name change over a year ago and someone posted this name and it won. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.  And since we're a democratic org we didn't have a choice. We're a fully independent organization with no overlord whatsoever.

it depends rly and yes it has to be seen - I agree

but at least in DU you have the possibility to do that with all the limitations in place (no simulated bullets, no twitch pvp, no "real" physics like said in many videos - floating mountains and such - and so on). Which was a killer in SC right from the start

I believe you're mistaken if DU could handle smooth and enjoyable battles at those scales.
It'd be at least a few years before DU is developed enough.

I would have to agree with this, and it reminded me of something I thought about recently, with more modern depictions of information: Yeah, it's "sciency" or "modern" and all and may fit theme-wise, but it's harder to read.

This is why, should I ever resort to similar images, I will actually do the good old "white paper - plain text" approach, even if it's the future. But it's what people are used to today and it's relatively readable.

I actually like the visuals and idea n' all. I just find it harder to read compared to "classic things".

What’s stopping you signing a full alliance with an organisation you have just met, then turning on everyone when you feel like it, nothing,
this was written to initiate a relationship, with small but efficient gains, no strings attached, if that relationship blossoms or wilts that is for the future, however we saw too many orgs making binding promises with people they don’t even know, we were not willing to do that so we created this, take it or leave it, if you do not want to sign, then don’t sign it.
If you do, then perhaps over time the SoA and whichever orgs sign up can develop great trading agreements or more.
this is not a over arching agreement, all who sign only agree to deal with SoA, not anyone else who has signed,

This is a 1on1 agreement. Simple to the point.

    Cheers.

Here's something that made it into SC related news on google and whatnot:

I think we shouldn't expect something like a "classic release date". Due to the scope of the game, the game will simply always be worked on, with bits and big milestones added. Even if you say "Release is in 2 years", so much would likely come after this ominous "day X".

I mean, "release date" would likely be a marketing tool by now to get attention to the game again - although I assume such "release date" would be further into the future as the game isn't anywhere of being done in terms of the multiplayer universe. Now unless you mean a release date for Squadron 42, the singleplayer campaign, then it'll take many more years to even think about a "release date" for the multiplayer component since so much is missing and they still seem to focus on notable framework or background technology.

Once that is in place and working, I'm assuming the progress on content should be faster, maybe notably faster. If you want to know how much is missing, look at the interactive star map on the website. See all those systems? Yeah, those are missing. The current system that is in isn't even fully done, with major planets missing. Once the whole system is ready, then we can tick that off as milestone.

I have no clue how fast they can be once they dedicate more personnel to creating content and systems, but damn, it'll take many more years for it all to be fleshed out.

I'd say a lot should be done in the next 8 to 10 years.

Hey all, stumbled onto this game and decided to impulsively support.  I hadn't done that for a game for something like seven years, but I like just about everything about the premise of this game.  Particularly the city and spaceship development.

I work as an R&D engineer, testing computer memory.  I like to jazz that up by saying I pilot giant robots, which is partially true.

I haven't worked in Lua before, but I do quite a bit of work in Python as part of my job and some amateur gamedev using the Godot engine, so I'm hoping to be able to slot in to a group somewhere working on the in-game mod system, wherever that might lead.  Definitely want to build and mod in this environment.

It's a real Alpha. You can test it to give nq feedback. It's not a game for playing yet

Edit: playing in the sense of having a real game experience like in a finished game. If you participate you give nq valuable data to improve DU. Wipes may happen and all your progress might be lost too
