Creating own clothing and sell it sounds great to me,
if it will be implemented, it would be great to see an external editor that gives you the freedom of bethesda games clothing modding.
Of course there should be an in game editor too, but more or less just for customization.
And if you have created your clothing, then should it be possible to make it unchangeable, it would be really annoying should the crew of your military ship looks like a bad LSD trip if they wearing your self-made uniform, just because they want to be "individual".

I'm into various RP elements but I prefer the peaceful type, as I've never been. A PvPer. But never afraid to delve into it.
As for scale, its never really phased me, small, large, its just more or less people.

I prefer a back story that I can then improve and add to with no strict on the development of the character. I like things being open to free will as they should be. People will realistically change their mind quite drastically every now and then and this style allows for that.

I'm not sure about downtime, I don't really mind either way. RP will keep happening regardless really.

If I had interest in your story I certainly wouldn't mind playing a part on it.

Crack the core, implode the planet?

I really hope there is some realism that puts you under either more and more intense pressure or heat to avoid having people digging straight through without consequence. A molten core would surely stop people in their path.

Anasasi reacted to CodeGlitch0 in Mobile push notifications
There's a few good cloud providers I can think of, namely Azure, that have extremely good mobile support. If they develop the backend well and all of the Lua / DPUs run on the server, then it should be a simple matter of pushing an event name and a small bit of metadata to a queue. That would have minimal game impact (a couple network packets to a local service) and another service would costume and push the mobile notifications. It might work for define-your-own events, but I imagine there are only so many types of game events you would care about outside of the game: build complete, intruder detected, item sold/purchased, etc.

Talking about death it is importatnt to know if we are limited to one charakter or can play multiple ones (see Wow OR Guild Wars) if we can play multiple ones perma death or a skill loss would indeed be a nice mechanic, but if we are limited to only one charakter the loss of our work could be damaging enough.

Maybe the game also takes the approach Space Engineers tried (and failed) that you can place respawn station, that heal you and that you use to respawn and if you have no more stations to respawn all ships that you own arent owned by you anymore.
Dual Universe could do this by removing your faction tags and affiliation or/and even forcing you to take a new ingame name which would mean that if you dont respawn at your own medical/respawn station you are considered a new charakter.

I hope it doesnt turn into a arcade like system where death isnt punished and only a mediocre annoyance...

I was wondering what people's thoughts were on death and consequences in the game. When you die, should you just respawn somewhere with no consequences? Should your ship blow up and be left to rubble?

Personally, I like the idea of permadeath, but I know many won't.

Count me in the statistics of those who agree with subscription.
Better yet, the model they have already informed about, using some kind of pilot license (the EVE PLEX) adds flexibility.

Models like Elite, where you have to almost 'rebuy' the game after each expansion, may be the same amount in a year (I haven´t made the numbers), but doesn't feel great to invest that much money to continue playing the latest version. On the contrary, a lower monthly fee is easier to pay, and EVE has come with expansions regularly.

Sooo a ship like The Covenant(pic below) from the halo series had? I have to recreate this now. So many things come to mind, when thinking about all the possibilities DU offers.

Anasasi reacted to ShadowLordAlpha in Orbital Access
The point would be to get into orbit without wasting fuel to leave a planet (or with the elevator to enter as well) and I doubt I would make an explosives power craft without first getting into space. We don't really know how the early game will go so these were ideas to serve as alternate ways to get into space and while they just get a craft to orbit it is much easier to leave from orbit than it is from the surface

sorta sounds like the shields on the player own structures in EVE. witch i have to say i HATED dealing with those things in eve unless we where flying with 100's of other players it felt like you just sat there for hours shooting at a bubble in space. i don't think it should be mind blowingly easy to take things, but if no one comes to defend it shouldn't take hours of sitting there shooting a shield .

maybe a fuel requirement, and if no one is around to keep the fuel take topped off the shield will fail rather quickly. let say a shield has 1 million HP and 20 minutes worth of fuel. if there are players to defend they can keep the fuel tank topped off and the attackers will have to burn through a million HP while dealing with the defenders attacking them. if no players show up to defend the shield systems fails and falls offline after the fuel supply runs out after 20 minutes of heavy bombardment. also perhaps use the idea of reinforced mode from eve where once the attackers take the shield down the territory goes into reinforced mode for a set period of time, at witch point the system will notify the members of that organization what time they need to be at the base to defend. once reinforced mode ends the battle is on and the player will have the final fight to determine who will own that territory.

also allowing people to pick a time slot for what time of day reinforced mode would end could be a nice way to stop people from preying on those in different time zones. as its rather hard to defend when you need to be in bed sleeping for work the following day. this way a group can always be sure that they at least don't have to worry about people taking territory while they sleep, and it will be the burden of the attackers to play outside of their typical schedules.

as far as turrets and point defense, i say the more the merrier approaching a well defended territory that is hostile to you should be very dangerous in my opinion. but at the same time expensive on mats ammo and power, would be a nice trade off that way it take a lot of infrastructure to run a truly large array of static defensive weapons.

well i guess thats enough food for thought for the time being, i would like to point out these ideas have come from other games.

I like the idea, what if we iterate on that again and say, make specific containers scan proof as to try and stop piracy/avoid it being detected by station owners etc. But have a drawback, i.e, they require more power, are smaller and such?

So, I've been reading through several threads here and there and have noticed no questioning of space suits, etc. I'm not sure if I've just skimmed over the idea/dev blog (Point me towards them if there is some!), but I would like to see suits and such suiting to planetary conditions being required to explore or live there as well as the possibility of wearing standard uniforms that can be colour customized, etc, so you can run uniform crews if you really feel the need.

I just feel that being able to work on a multi crewed ship but having different people in unforms or their own apparel would be handy, or at least somewhat immersive for those who wish to RP. Instead of just a stock standard suit.

The environmental need for a specific suit I understand may be hard to implement if there isn't any need for this type of thing, but I was just throwing the idea out there if there was plans for acidic atmosphered planets, etc.

The beauty of what DU is trying to become is that you can already do this. Not in the sense that there is a ingame mechanic to manage and organize this, but more that the game will allow you to do it if you want.

You can create a whole league inside DU that you can govern and operate. If you want to run a PvP Area or deathmatch system, create some location on planets and then market your area as a PvP ground that is organised and run like ingame E-Sport kind of thing.

You could charge people to watch, participate and basically do anything you want. You just have to create it.

This is the basis of what they are trying to do with Emergent Game Play, allow the player to do whatever they feel like doing.

If you did make this in game i would probably give it a good a few times

Anasasi reacted to TrihXeen in The Slipnaught Saga(title is WIP)
This is from a story I am working on for a sci-fi game. Currently labeled "Slipnaughts", but I think the lore would fit in with the story of DU. Possibly as lost tech, or alien tech. I have a loose idea of the end-game story, and some key things that happen, but for now I will just put out some info on everything.

The Slipnaughts are made up of 7 members. Each assigned to their own flagship for war against the Slingers. Slipnaughts go into battle first to assess what and how much firepower will be needed. If it is not a huge threat, they take care of it themselves. Or they may have to pull the whole armada to join the fight. Some charge time is needed, so being unseen is key for them.

    The "Slipsuits"

The suits on the slipnaughts are fused to their spines, which allow their vitals to be managed.

    Thanks again for your time!

There was an assumption that the placement of your thrusters is going to be important in determining how your ship flies. I thought I remembered reading this on a forum post or on a devblog but I can't find the reference right now. If that's the case, it would be natural to assume that taking out an engine in combat is going to affect how a ship maneuvers or responds to a pilot's commands.

There's a thread over here where people are discussing the thrusters from the ship in the E3 trailer too - https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/557-the-trailer/

I like this idea of having a list of known alliances or organizations. But, these aren't the ones to watch out for. The ones that stay silent, and have their hand in others pockets are the ones to watch out for. In such a vast universe, it will be hard too keep track of people if they don't want to be found. lol, that sounds dark, but I like coming up with RP elements.
