If NQ releases content about the tests, that is their prerogative.  Just because there is a NDA does not mean NQ cannot share info with the public.  We can't release anything, they can

That's kind of neglecting the followers who don't have access imho.  Dev blogs should continue, but we also must realize they are overburdened at the moment and "delays" are inevitable.

As only very limited amount of people have access to pre-alpha I think it would be nice to have at least some forum dev blog posts that in written form give short list and idea of what was done and what is planned next. It would take much less time and still will be really helpful.

We really don't know at this point.  I imagine you will be able to get to space as long as you can create thrusters/ a ship.

In order to do so you might have to create units/factories that can output an engine/thrusters etc.  So it might take some time to get into space... but not too long.

The real difficulty comes into play when you think about "what next?".  There's no infrastructure right when we start...

After the game moves forward in time, it will get easier and easier for a player to get on their feet (engines ).  All speculation and assumptions on my part

NPC's setting prices are only somewhat true in a limited context.

When you build a market in a high population density area, you're more likely to have bots showing up purchasing things to inject money into the economy there, however, you can't just expect to build a market in the middle of nowhere and have bots start purchasing everything you try selling.

So the closer a market is to a population dense area, the more likely it is that prices are going to be regulated that way. If you want people to come out to your markets, you'd probably start offering more money for things. Even if you were buying from a population dense area, you might offer more money to people for their goods simply because you need them more than the black hole the bots are going to put them into.

It's also not guaranteed that everything you try selling will be bought by an NPC, so some things might have to have their prices determined by the market completely.

Actually, only Samsung, occulus and vive are using the oled.

The reports say that the inside out tracking works pretty good, but I have no basis to compare. Although behind the back movements are solved with a predictive algorithm, so vive and occulus win that one.

I'm very interested to see the competition between the platforms. And surprisingly I'm more interested in using it to watch movies than playing games. Game wise they all seem so gimmicky.

But it does look like my childhood wish is finally happening.

How long it takes will largely depend on whether NQ will put hooks in place in the code for VR. As they are in very early stages of the game development this is a good possibility.

I haven't read through the entire thread, and I imagine someone has already voiced this opinion... but what the heck

I am 100% against this idea in any shape or format.  Building should require resources and testing.  Being able to freely build without resources in order to get a blueprint seems like a bad game design imho.

Get the resources, design something... if it's bad, have to do another iteration.  Welcome to real world design ^^

Sure, for the alpha we will have unlimited resources to make blueprints.  But the two are not the same.  NQ is giving us unlimited resources to test the game in all capacities, and they are allowing us to keep the blueprints as a thank you.

    PvE != AI.

No where has AI been mentioned in this thread, my post or otherwise.

There is a TON of PvE content in DU, as I have stated previously.

But you clearly didn't read, or ignored what I said.  I don't think this discussion will get anywhere.

This is a very narrow mindset.  There is a VERY dynamic PvE experience, or at least with what is planned.  Obviously it isn't in the current iterations.

Sure, PvP will always be there... but you don't have to participate.  Many will be content with exploring and trading between different hubs.  Finding good prices, and selling elsewhere.  The cool thing about DU is that the entire game is dynamic.  Heck, with the scripting I'm sure someone could build a casino... the limitations are literally endless.  THAT is the point of DU

I love PvP but saying there's no place for PvE players in DU is asinine.  I'd honestly say in the grand scope of things, there is more PvE content than PvP.

Building constructs, exploration, mining... creating different services to sell to other players... bunch of stuff for PvE minded folk

I think our hope is that DU becomes akin to a cult...club, in that everyone pays monthly dues so that the club can operate. People that hang out at the club all day and night pay the same dues as the weekenders. The subscription is less about cost per unit of game time, and more about being a member of the club. A $15 club membership fee isn't unheard of. Gym memberships are a good example. Pay the membership fee, get access to the gym. What you actually do with that membership is on the member.

Okay even ignoring whatever the devs throw into DU in a PVE catagory, how hard would it be to simulate PVE with LUA? I am sure that there are going to be some heavy RP places like there are in other sandbox games.

I doubt the alpha phases will change how NQ addresses the community.  I imagine they will continue to come out with monthly dev diaries.  Which is what we have been content with for quite some time now.  It's entirely possible they will give out little reports of each test as stated by other users... but we just don't know ^^

Sorry, I didn't mean to come off as though they weren't. Not my intentions. I'm the small details kind of guy, and I'm usually surfing the site via my mobile, which forces me to the landing page when I first open the browser. And so, I noticed the count changing. Wondered what was up.

I won't make anything more of it though.

DACs can't be abused.  End of story.

It's a tried and true system, if you don't like it... tough I guess.

In my experience the true "whales" you speak of are those who sit and play the market profiting off of others.  The people who buy DACs/PLEX?  Those who need a quick fix, and not enough time to play for the creds.

So to eliminate your whale problem, they'd have to eliminate the re-sale of DACs.  No thanks.

Once you start playing a game, it's a lot easier to make money by being smart than it is by dumping fortunes into the game.
