Neuritico got a reaction from Moondogsit in Revamp of tile ores necessary?
Optimistic! It might be right if all players share what they scanned so far each with other. otherwise it always 260K tiles for each of us less already taken tiles included Aphelia tiles.

Neuritico reacted to Megabosslord in GRIEF LAUNCH: Stealth Nerfs, Poor Comms and Missteps Rooted in a Lack of Vision
Let's set aside for a moment that wiping beta player constructs at launch was always unfair, given past commitments. NQ have now heaped insult on injury with a number of stealth nerfs at launch:

    Alioth T2 Distribution:
I did 80 territory scans on Alioth at a ~3 tile spacing and found zero T2. None at all. Zip. Nada. No T2 - after spending 3 days building the XL assembler and scanner. This is a broken gameplay loop. Combined with the removal of Malachite from Alioth, the stealth nerf of ore distribution on Alioth resulted in a week of wasted effort. Forcing effort with no payoff is not gameplay.

If NQ had been transparent with us before launch, said they were going to nerf T2 on Alioth, I wouldn't have wasted that critical week. I would also have rebuilt my base before launch so the BP wasn't made of 500,000M3 of Copper. Now, to deploy my BP I have to swap copper for another honeycomb, and then go back and untangle where the new material has blended with the same material already in the BP. More rework, on top of the wasted time.

    1000m Build Height:
This was self-evidently dumb. By choosing a 1000m cap instead of 1128m, it's impossible to build a 1000m AGG pad without placing your foundation core at an exactly multiple of 128m (since you won't be able to place the top core if there is less than a 128m gap.) Even then, you can put nothing on your 1000m pad, no elements, no structure. And you have to either use smaller cores for your top layer (increasing server load) or build your base from the top core, down - which means tall temporary scaffold structures first to place top cores and work back down - while others complain about griefing the entire time.

A large number of pre-launch bases had AGG pads at or slightly above 1000m. All these pre-launch base BPs are now bricked.

This misstep demonstrates a fundamental ignorance of their game's own mechanics by devs, and poor understandng of players. To make matters worse, the change wasn't even included in patch notes. The only place it was mentioned - just wks before launch - was in 'Ask Aphelia #12. Few players had any opportunity to fix their builds before launch. This mistake (1000m vs 1128m) would easily have been picked up if players had been warned.

In summary, not only did NQ reneg on prior commitments to honour our builds in their 'persistent' universe - the only compensation being retained blueprints - they went on to stealth nerf the BPs we kept.

[EDIT: Because this rule is not yet being enforced, and it is still possible to place a core above 1000m, this will create even more pain for players uncertain or unaware of the rule - should NQ decide to delete structures after they are built. And for as long as the rule is unclear, it is impossible to safely place the foundations of a tall structure.]

Missing STUs for 'Contributors' (and Surface Natron):
By making Sanctuary the only place with surface natron near Alioth, Alpha contributors already had a significant advantage at launch - since natron is needed to make many popular elements: screens, lights etc.. NQ then messed up further, by jacking up the distribution of STUs meaning only some Contributors received them. ~10 days later, this still has not been fixed. This means a small number of players, purely by chance, have the only access to surface natron near Alioth.

HTML/SVG nerf and Indiscriminate LUA Changes:
The disabling of HTML screens was long rumoured, but took so long to be done it appeared to have been abandoned. Waiting till launch to tell players all SVGs and HTML are also now bricked is also poor form and counter-productive. Because a large number of ship BPs from pre-launch contain screens using HTML, and virtually every factory monitoring set-up, any player flying these ships or running these factories, will now simply go to settings and re-enable HTML, to be able to play the game - undermining the point of the exercise to phase out HTML, and prolonging the inevitable pain and frustration when it is finally done. This pain is now unavoidable given the original misstep of building a new API with zero compatibility with HTML/SVG. (The new API should always have been implemented in a way to minimise the effort of reworking existing content for players - rather than forcing ground up rebuilds of all screens. Better still, existing content should ideally have been ported on behalf of players.)

Combine this with the frivolous renaming of a number of LUA cmds, additional rework has also been created for players to reimplement scripts written before launch - for no apparent reason.

STILL No Static BP Placement Snapping!:
We asked for this in the Alpha Trello 3 yrs ago. It was poorly implemented on day one - snapping new cores only. Hundreds of players have asked for it to be fixed for static BPs over the years. It never made sense that new cores snap into place, but static BPs work of a bizarre raycast that doesn't even align with the player camera and - annoyingly - nudges by 2 voxels instead of 1. This feature was already long overdue, but now made more critical since it is essential to redeploying any mult-core construct after the wipe. Finally... finally, it was coming! In the launch livestream it was promised for launch here, at timecode 35:38:

Instead, we now learn this was skipped, rendering all multi-core static construct blueprints useless.

    Summary:

    - Forcing players to constantly rework their builds is not gameplay.
    - Reworking existing content is a poor proxy for new gameplay loops.
    - Player input is invaluable.
    - Last minute, uncommunicated changes rarely if ever have a positive outcome.

The culture at NQ of disregarding the time and effort of players, and lack of consideration of impacts on our gameplay, is worrisome. More worrisome, is the tendency to continuously rework existing content - mechanics, terrain, boolean noise - rather than develop significant new features, many of these features requested years ago. NQ are still missing the winning strategy of successful 'player generated content' franchises like Minecraft, where the focus of the first several years was on adding new gameplay loops - as opposed to continuously reworking existing ones. Reworking existing content decays player satisfaction by forcing the constant rework of our own builds. And making changes by stealth only magnifies the problem.

Until this is understood, the future of this franchise is fraught.

Neuritico reacted to Megabosslord in Do we really need the old planets back or is the game more buzzing?
It only feels busier because it was so dead for 6 mths once wipe rumours started. You'll remember early beta was this busy, maybe busier. We definitely need new planets with better ore spawns to drive migration and sustain activity once the markets become saturated with player-made components on diminishing margins. A 'gold rush' to a new planet will be the only way to reinject life into the game in a few months, in the absence of any other major new content.

The whole premise of “entirely player driven and built” is a laughing stock.  This was actually a reply deep in a thread somewhere so I just thought I’d dig it out and post it here. Sorry if you’ve read this already.

bots control our hex-rent. Bots control our schematics. Bots control our sales taxes. Bots hand out and receive missions. Bots sell pretty much everything anyone needs. Bots buy stupid almost unlimited amounts of ore and bots hand out a daily stipend. And bots control whether or not we can fire weapons.

what is there actually left to play and strive for other than building?

why is there no energy required to run anything? Why is there no oxygen requirements for our habitats?
why is there no food or farming?

why are there no threatening box life forms that raid our camps?

why are there no mysteries beyond a few lowest possible effort alien cores?

Neuritico reacted to NQ-Wanderer in DUAL UNIVERSE LAUNCH DATE - WISHLIST US ON STEAM
    Dear Noveans,

We’re going to launch Dual Universe! If you missed our launch announcement live stream, you can watch the replay here, and you can also read on for all the details below.

Dual Universe has spent eight years in development, with the past two of those in beta. Our team has delivered industry-leading voxel technology, enabling players to build amazing worlds in a single-shard MMO like no other. We’ve advanced by leaps and bounds, adding systems like asteroid and territory mining, missions, new PvP mechanics, and more reasons to fight, as well as creation systems like the Vertex Precision Tool, new Lua API, and the Exchange for our creators to exhibit their works.

In short, we’re proud of what we’ve accomplished and are excited for what is yet to come.

Thank you for walking this road with us so far, and it is with great pleasure that we can finally release the details of the launch with you here today:
Dual Universe is launching on September 27, 2022. To enable the launch, we will close all servers on September 22, 2022, and keep them closed until the launch. All active subscriptions (excluding beta keys and full beta access) will receive 6 days of subscription at launch to compensate for this downtime.

Here’s a message from Novaquark’s CEO, Nouredine Abboud, on the launch:

    STEAM

We’re launching Dual Universe on Steam! It’s an exciting time for us at NQ as we bring our game to as many players who may enjoy it as possible and give those who prefer it the option to purchase the game on Steam.

Our Steam page is already live! You can support us by wishlisting Dual Universe on steam and recommending it to your friends, even if you already have the game!

The game will also continue to be available to buy on our website, as well as from our official reseller. And of course, you can still play it on almost any computer via the NVIDIA cloud-based platform, Geforce NOW.

    FREE TRIAL

We will implement a free trial of Dual Universe with the game’s launch, which will be available exclusively on Steam. We’ll have more details on this in future communications, but for those who want to try the game's mechanics without committing to a subscription, we’ve got you covered!
We will be opening a separate server for the free trial to allow anyone the chance to try the game for free without impacting the persistent server. This separate server will be regularly reset.

The game has come a long way during these two years of beta. We want to give every player, including those of you who stopped playing before the game’s new systems and gameplay loops were introduced, a chance to try them.

If you were subscribed to the game at any point during the beta, and your subscription has lapsed, we’re adding two weeks of game time on your account from the 27th of September. These two weeks will give you full access to the main universe. Come see what the game has to offer at launch; it’s on us!

    A NEW HELIOS

The launch will come with some welcome additions to the game. A major one is that we’re upgrading planets. The launch is a great chance for us to bring the game's worlds to life more and to breathe more identity into them. As NQ-Sirg has described before in Ask Aphelia, we had built the Helios system for the launch of Beta and didn’t have as much time as we would have liked to make fleshed-out, living worlds.

If you want a sneak peek at some of these changes, you can see them in the replay of our launch announcement live stream.

This upgrade means you will see new biomes that feel more vibrant and alive. Players will initially have access to:

    Alioth + Sanctuary + Haven (+ Moon 1 + Moon 4) Jago Teoma Madis (+ Moons 1, 2, and 3)

    Thades (+ Moons 1 and 2)

We’ll add more improved worlds back into the game in several phases. Please note that the release order below is still subject to change.

We are also adding more planetary body types into the game! The asteroid belts of Thades will be replaced with new, bigger asteroids which can now be claimed by players. We hope to introduce more claimable rocks around Helios after the launch.

    BLUEPRINTS

Whether you’ve got a small holding or a sprawling, multi-core space station, rebuilding after the reset will be easier with better blueprint deployment tools. As a reminder, you will keep your core blueprints after the reset, so we wanted to make your life easier when deploying them at launch. We have already added pre-visualization to blueprints with the ability to finely move their placement using keyboard controls. We’re also adding three new features at launch and in the first patch after the launch:

SNAPPING - When deploying a blueprint, you can snap to the grid of another, already placed core, like when placing a Space Core Unit. Along with pre-visualization and keyboard controls, this will allow you to perfectly align cores with one another while deploying blueprints. HONEYCOMB SWAPS - You can now change any honeycomb type inside of a blueprint with any other of your choosing. ELEMENT OMISSION - You can now opt to deploy blueprints with elements missing should you lack them or to simply choose different elements to omit from deployment by choice.
    COSMETICS

Another addition to the launch is better cosmetics. We’re adding the much-requested purple plastic and colored luminescent honeycomb. Our newly announced Pioneer Packs will reward beta players and backers with collectible items only available to them as a thank you for helping to bring the game to life. We’re also building on the NOVEAN OVERVIEW to help players better manage their customizations and skins, with much more cosmetic and quality of life improvements to come!

    KICKSTARTER REWARDS

In-game Kickstarter rewards will start being rolled out at launch, and we will share details about them in a dedicated communication. It will include topics such as how to update your physical-reward delivery address and how to claim your in-game rewards.

However, there is one piece of news that we want to share with you here. It’s an exciting time for any game developer when the project you have devoted years of your life to comes to fruition. We can already confirm that our Crowdfunding backers will be able to finally see their names in the credits at launch.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Launching Dual Universe is the start of a new chapter in the game’s story, a story that we as developers and you, our community, are writing together. We still have much to do, and we’re more excited now than ever to deliver a game that can live up to Dual Universe’s incredible potential.

If you have questions about the launch, please send them to us here so that we can answer them in a dedicated episode of Ask Aphelia.
You can also share your thoughts and feedback with us in this dedicated forum thread.

Thanks again to our players for an incredible journey so far. We can't wait to continue it with you.

Neuritico reacted to NQ-Wanderer in RESET: HOW TO PREPARE
    Hello, Noveans!

With the launch of Dual Universe a month away, we want to talk about how to prepare for the upcoming server reset.

We’ve outlined the parts of your gameplay that you’ll keep post-reset in our announcement video and in the letter from our Creative Director. Today, we want to expand on that and discuss how best to prepare for the reset and how to get the most out of it.

    PREPARE YOUR CORE BLUEPRINTS

Make a Core Blueprint of every construct you want to keep and make sure that you store it in your nanopack or in a container on a construct that you own, though we advise that you keep them in your nanopack as it’s the safest place to store them.

If you have Core Blueprints in the care of others or in other locations around Helios, don’t forget to gather them, should you want to keep them. Being the original owner of a Core Blueprint has no impact on Core Blueprints outside of your possession. You will keep only those Core Blueprints in your nanopack and owned containers.

The same applies to organization-owned Core Blueprints. If you’re a superlegate of an organization, make sure that you store your Core Blueprints in your nanopack or that they’re stored in a container on a construct owned by your organization, though again, we advise that you keep them in your nanopack.

    PREPARE YOUR ORGANIZATIONS

Make sure that each organization you want to keep has a player as its superlegate. Any organization without a player as its superlegate will be lost at the reset.

Make a list of members you would like to reinvite after the reset. Though any organization with a player as its superlegate will remain after the reset with its Core Blueprints, Name, Logo, and Manifesto intact, membership will be reset.

You can use the in-game contacts system (which will remain after the reset) to keep track of your members or simply make a list outside of the game.

DON’T WASTE TIME PREPARING YOUR MINING UNITS

We will reset the ore distribution on each body in Helios. To find good spots for your mining units, you’ll need to re-build your Territory Scanners and hunt the tiles down. None of your pre-reset knowledge of hotspots will be valid post-reset.

PIONEER PACKS AND THE TALENT ACCELERATOR

The Pioneer Packs' items will be delivered in the first month after launch. If you’d like your collectibles, you’ll need an active subscription, and you’ll need to log into the game during its first month after release to receive them.

The talent point and quanta awards will be given on the final day of each month for the first six months of release. Again, you’ll need an active subscription to receive them.

Finally, if you've subscribed to the game, ensure that you have at least six months of talent training queued up. The talent point accelerator event, which is open to all players, will boost your talent point acquisition in the first six months of launch by:
100% for the first month 50% for months two, three, and four 25% for months five and six
The launch of Dual Universe will likely be the last time in the game's life where the economy will be an even playing field. Though beta players and backers will gain some advantage by the end of the six-month launch period, the start of the launch will see every player on the same starting line. There’s never been a better time to join!

We’re excited to see you in Helios on the 27th of September. In the meantime, don’t hesitate to share your feedback on reset preparation here.

Neuritico reacted to NQ-Wanderer in Grid Snapping - Announcement
    Dear Noveans,

We have a brief update on the upcoming changes to the blueprint deployment tool.

We had hoped to implement the grid-snapping feature at launch or in the first update after launch, but we’ve encountered a delay. We recognize that this is an essential tool for players to rebuild their multi-core constructs, and we’re working hard to implement it. You can expect it in one of the first updates after launch.

The voxel swapping and element omission features are still arriving with the launch.

Thank you for bearing with us. Rest assured that this is one of our top priorities.

RESET ANNOUNCEMENT FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Q:  As you are resetting the game progress, does this mean Dual Universe will be released at the same time?
A: The reset will be done very close to the official release of Dual Universe. A few days before official release, the Live server will enter maintenance mode, and during that time, the reset will be done.

Q: How do I add game time to my account if it is not working with Xsolla?
A: We are aware of the issue regarding the cumulation of game time when going through Xsolla. We are currently working on the issue. As a workaround for the time being, you can purchase game time codes from our official partner Markee Dragon.

Q: Will there be an Early Access or a Head Start session for those who have paid to play so far?
A: There will not be an early access or head start, everyone will start at the same time. We want to keep it as fair as possible with new players. All players will start on the first day, after the maintenance for the official release.

Q: Will we be able to choose between Haven and Sanctuary in the new FTUE?
A: At launch, everyone will start on Haven during the FTUE. However, players who have an additional Sanctuary Territory Unit as a reward from a Supporter Pack they pledged, will be able to settle themselves on the Sanctuary moon.

Q: What exactly do we get to keep with the reset?
A: While the server is going to be reset, there are several things that will remain with you. For the entire list, please read all about it here.

Q: Will it be the last reset?
A: One reason for the reset is linked to the release of the game, and that's a one-time event. Do we plan to do another reset in the future? Absolutely not. We've done everything we can think of to make sure that this will be the last reset. We have continuously worked to fix the issues that generated the reasons for this reset and this is the last planned reset for Dual Universe.

Q: Will we get to keep territory scans? Also, even if we don't get to keep scans, will the same tiles have the same resource levels after the wipe or will it all be reset and randomized?
A: No, ore will be redistributed across planets after the reset, and your scans will be removed in the reset.

Q: You said you're Resetting Sanctuary constructs too. Does that mean Gold Backers will reset and do the new FTUE, and receive the new Starter Constructs & Speeder?
A: Yes, everyone will do the new FTUE and everybody will have an outpost and a Speeder of their choice on Haven. It will be possible to claim a tile on the Sanctuary moon only if you have a Sanctuary Territory Unit from a Supporter pack (at least for the time being).

Q: Will there still be Daily Login Rewards after release?
A: Yes, for the time being we plan to keep the Daily Login rewards, but we reserve the right to adjust those daily rewards for in-game economy balance, if we deem it necessary in the future.

Q: Will players who are banned by using exploits have their bans lifted?
A: If the account was given a permanent ban, it will remain banned. If it was temporary, it would end at the date it was scheduled to end.

Q: When you say "You’ll also keep your Core Blueprints after reset" do you mean those core BPs that we are named as Creator in the BP, or all core BPs we have in our Nanopacks or personal constructs, irrespective of who the Creator is?
A: The creator of the blueprint is irrelevant to keeping it, if a core blueprint is in your nanopack or a container you own, you keep it. The creator of the core blueprint is not relevant and not considered in the keeping system.

Q: Will we get the magic blueprints we were promised at the start of Beta to replace our constructs after launch?
A: Magic blueprints generate elements in the game out of the blue, they are not crafted from resources produced within the game. When in small quantities, MBPs are acceptable, but in large amounts, as it would be at launch, it would jeopardize the starting economy. And thus we won’t be giving out magic blueprints.

Q: Will there be any bots that sell elements after the reset?
A: Yes, because with the current data we have, selling ores to the bot is one of the most used ways to earn quanta in the early game and removing that option would slow all of you down. Same for buying from Aphelia, it'll help you start quicker as you will need to recreate industries at release.

Q: Will the memberlist of each organization be wiped?
A: Yes. While only organizations without a player in the superlegate positions will be deleted, only the superlegate will remain in each organization. It will be up to the superlegate to re-invite all their members.

Q: Are the Pioneer Pack Talent Points and quanta paid out at the start of the month?
A: The pack rewards will be available at the end of each month (for the first 6 months), so that all players, new and old, start at the same pace.

    Dear Noveans,

This is Cyrille Fontaine (NQ-Kyrios) again. I’m writing to follow up on our announcement video released earlier today. I’d encourage you to watch it if you haven’t already as it presents our decision to reset Dual Universe when we launch.

In this letter, I want to walk you through some of our reasons and give you precise answers on what you will keep after the server reset, as well as how we plan to reward Beta players for their investment in the game.

Deciding whether to reset the server of a persistent, single-shard game like Dual Universe is an enormous and challenging decision. It impacts many departments in the company, such as game design, server, live operations, production, community management, and well, pretty much everyone. But most importantly, it impacts our players. Players who have dedicated time, money, and passion to the game during beta.

But before we go any further, I want to address the elephant in the room: we started sharing information about the reset before we had solid answers because we wanted to give you clarity on our internal dialogues. Though this gave rise to many fantastic protest constructs, such as Vampskull’s intricate toilet paper ship, it also caused uncertainty for our community. I want to extend to you all a truly heartfelt apology for that and to thank you for your patience.

I’ll go through some of the factors we had to weigh below, but what lay at the heart of the decision for us was how we would reward the efforts, support, and contributions of our players during beta while still allowing new players the same opportunity to experience a fresh new solar system to settle at launch.

With that, let’s get into the details.

    WHY RESET?

    THE ECONOMY
Betas tend to have bugs and exploits, and Dual Universe has had its share of those. We’ve dealt with issues from item duplication and system exploits to our own missteps. We have improved our monitoring systems throughout the beta, but in order to balance our player-run economy for launch, we have to reset it.

    PERFORMANCE
It’s a technical necessity for us. The game has an extreme quantity of leftover and unused constructs. With changes to maximum construct slots and the Inactive Asset Requisition (IAR) system, the situation has improved, but a full reset will allow us to manage the data load well from the start without the burden of abandoned legacy constructs. With the new systems that we added during beta, data load should not become an issue again.

    BALANCE
The game’s launch will be a fresh start with every player on the same starting line. We want to give every player, whether a veteran or new, the same opportunity to experience the thrill of colonizing Helios during the first days and weeks after launch.

    NEW WORLDS
It’s also an opportunity to improve our planetary bodies in Helios. We want to give planets more identity, to implement what we didn’t have time to do when we launched the beta. We cannot do that while players are building and terraforming the planets. We also want to experiment with new types of planetary bodies, and a reset allows us to achieve these goals. More information on that will follow soon.

    WHAT WILL WE RESET?
Almost the whole game, with a few exceptions that I’ll cover below.

This means that everything from planets and territories to items and constructs will be reset. The game’s economy and player progression will also be reset, but we will give beta players back some of their talent points and other items through the Pioneer Packs detailed below.

    WHAT WILL PLAYERS KEEP?

As beta players, you will keep your name and contact list on the new server.

You’ll also keep your Core Blueprints after reset. Whether in a container aboard one of your constructs or inside a package, all of your Core Blueprints will be transferred to your nanopack. However, we’d recommend that you organize your Core Blueprints in your nanopack and create Core Blueprints of constructs that you would like to keep ready for the reset at launch.

You’ll also keep your organizations. Membership will be reset, but the superlegate will remain as the leader to carry the organization into launch with its name, logo, and manifesto intact. However, organizations belonging to other organizations will be erased.

Core Blueprints belonging to organizations, including those housed in containers and packages belonging to the organization will be transferred to the superlegate.

Your Two-Factor Authentication rewards will be reallocated to you after the reset. Your Recruit-a-Friend rewards will also be reallocated, with the exception of any game time rewards that you’ve already consumed.

    PIONEER PACK REWARDS
We’ve also put together three tiers of Pioneer Packs to reward our beta players and give them back some progression, such as a portion of their talent points. They are a thank you from all of us here at Novaquark for the support you’ve shown us during the beta and the time you invested in the game.

We’ll deliver these packages during our six-month launch event in a way that preserves balance at launch and allows new players the same opportunity to compete in the game’s economy. At the start, beta veterans will be in almost the same position as new players, but by the end of these six months, beta players and backers will have one of the three packages outlined below.

We’ll share more information soon on the server-wide talent point accelerator event, and the extra talent point awards for beta players and backers will be delivered on the last day of each month.

I want to thank all of you again for bearing with us while we resolved the reset question. We hope that the opportunity to relive the thrill of settling Helios is appealing to you. From the new first-time user experience to a whole canvas ready to be recalled to life, Dual Universe is waiting for you.

We ask that you please use this thread for discussion about this reset announcement.

We’re also creating a special episode of Ask Aphelia about the reset. If you have questions from our announcement video or this letter, please send them to us here.

Stay tuned for more news on the future of Dual Universe, and look for our next major announcement very soon.

No it is not all dogmatic opinion, you know it's not.
You, and all the other 'no wipe', are just trying to protect your ill-gotten gains because that is the only thing you have left to argue over.  You're not fooling anyone, we can see you.  The excuses you come up with are so bad.
The current player base can not support the game, or their would be no wipe...  Catering to a group that gives your game no chance of success is not good business.  You have to cater to a group that gives you a chance.
Coming into a game where the twinkerbells have cornered the markets and grossly overpower the new players, at launch, is insane.  That does not create a welcome atmosphere...
With a wipe, You will have a legit advantage in the game at launch with knowledge.
Why is your ill-gotten, massive, advantage more important than the health of the game?

Your point of view might be right ,but first of all i'm not so confident in the altruistic nature of perfect strangers: if you do something you do it for your own gain not for the desire to be the good Samaritan. and above all what you suggest is to leave everything as it is so there is no solution whatsoever in the short or long term. At this point I ask you what need is there to formalize the release of the game? And why start this title that has now reached such a level where many have already developed everything, you can already find everything you need around, and why should I sponsor this title in my community of players? moving in here en masse when that minimum of competition you can draw from this game  it's over? Honestly, as a new player who wants to play a similar game, I am not interested in what others have done and in finding the food ready, I am interested in what I can do with my friends. After all, the game is all here, if you remove this aspect too, there is really nothing left.

Like i said before i can life with it when i can get my Core / Blueprints back after a full wipe because there are the most of my Playtime in. ( i don´t need an magical Blueprint set because this would lead to one points of the contras some player would make boxes filled with element to sell them after the wipe)

The Talentpoints i would do like i said before if NQ willing to refund our Talentpoints don´t do it direct after the wipe delay that points by an timer up to 12 or 15 months that the new start will be really start from the beginning and the new players did not feel left behind others but like some other Players said before knowledge is power and if old players know what they are doing they will be fast back on top.

And all which still complaining it was always said there will be maybe a full wipe before release always said in some of the Dev Blog Videos its still in discussing and now they want to let us know that an full wipe or half wipe is still in discussion and want to share the info with us.

And we all Accepted the Beta EULA by clicking Play Beta so stop complaining about if its coming we have to deal with it. So we all can tell our feelings about in this forum that they know what we thinking, and they can find their way how to release the Game after the Beta. This is still NQ´s game we paid for entering a Beta and not a Final Product and they have the full rights i copy this following text out of the EULA :

    6. NOVAQUARK reserves the exclusive and final right to review, delete, block, modify, move or disable Generated Content for any reason whatsoever, after prior notice. Under French law, NOVAQUARK has the status of host within the meaning of article 6 of the Loi pour la Confiance dans l’Économie numérique du 21 juin 2004 (Act for trust in the digital economy of June 21, 2004) related to User-Generated Content.

Yes a full wipe would be hard for the community because of many players maybe left the game but perhaps its realy a chance for a fresh start for the game and getting new players. And think of it how many new names getting in the ingame chat last months and making a rage quit after they got killed by trying roid mining with the words that they don´t want to waste their time for that we need a lot more of PVE content in SafeZone like i said before too.

And they not have decided yet they want to discuss it with us whats we are feelings about so pls stop complaining.

Neuritico reacted to NQ-Wanderer in SHEDDING LIGHT ON A NOVAQUARK INTERNAL DISCUSSION
Following our policy of being as transparent as possible and to keep everyone informed, we want to give you some insight about the internal discussions the Novaquark team has on the delicate topic on whether we’re going to have a wipe or not, and under which form. The discussions are numerous, as there is no easy answer and we have to take into account all of the pros and cons for each possible solution. We also have been taking into account the players discussions which have happened - and for some, are still happening - on Discord and our official forum. On one hand we have you, our early backers and players, who supported us for quite some time now, and we want to renew our thanks for being so patient and passionate about Dual Universe. On the other hand, we have the constraints of making the game appealing to new players.

Please note: By “new players”, we mean players who’ve just heard about Dual Universe, but we also have many backers that have chosen not to participate during Alpha and Beta, so they can begin playing once the game has reached a polished enough state with game mechanics.

SO, WHAT ARE THE PARAMETERS WE HAVE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT?

We know that players have repeatedly asked for an answer to this question. It has been on the table for many months, if not since the Beta opened. The team has been discussing many options on the topic and we’ve gone back to the drawing board many times. Here is an overview of the factors that we are taking under consideration:

A reset would be an opportunity to remove things that have been deemed very unpopular by the already existing community, such as the schematics. The only way to remove them in a clean way without causing too many disturbances in the economy is clearly when the in-game economy has been just reset.

Many tests/adjustments during Beta have impacted the in-game economy, leading to have some players getting extremely rich way faster than intended, due to an intensive use of some features in their early stage, such as the mission system (and that's understandable, as the situation is part of a normal process in the development of a game). However, it's also common practice in the game development process to usually have some kind of reset when critical milestones are reached, and resetting the economy to have a healthy start once the game has been stabilized and the game features have become more balanced makes sense.

As you, our current experienced players, will have quite an advantage compared to the new players on many levels (game knowledge, talent points, wealth, constructs already owned), there's a need to make things a bit more balanced to give a fighting chance to the wave of new players that will join the Community later.

We also want to give all the players (new players as much as a big part of the early backers who have waited for the game to be in a fairly polished state) to have the opportunity of the right start.

In case of a wipe, finding a way for our veteran players to allow them to keep (or rebuild quickly) their favorite constructs, without creating any loophole for players to bypass the reset (and defeat the purpose of why it’s done).

Some planets currently do not have the quality and polished state the Novaquark team wants to give them. We also have seen that a part of the Community has the same opinion on the topic, and this is why the dev team has been planning a revamp for the planets which haven’t received one already.

WE CONSIDERED SEVERAL ALTERNATIVES SO FAR TO REACH THESE GOALS:

    - Doing no wipe at all.

    Pros:
Satisfying for some of our long-time builders and traders Cons:
Unsatisfying for players wanting to discover the game and start with a more polished version of the game. Does not allow to remove Schematics properly. Does not allow to revamp the old planets properly. Does not allow the rebalancing of the economy properly. Potentially keeping bugs related to very old Constructs.

    - Making a partial wipe where the economy would be wiped, but not the Constructs, which would keep all player-made creations intact, with also in mind to prevent some players from storing resources on said Constructs to circumvent the reset of the economy.

    Pros:
Relatively satisfying for some of our long-time builders. Cons:
Extremely complex to put in place properly without the known loopholes interfering (such as piling up Resources and Elements on existing Constructs before a wipe and removing them after to sell them). Unknown loopholes could break the wanted healthy economic reset. Does not allow to revamp the old planets properly. Potentially keeping bugs related to very old Constructs.

    - Having a “legacy” live server and a new live server, where only the blueprints made before the new server opening would be transferred to the new live server.

    Pros:
Could prevent any wipe with this solution while managing issues the dev team is trying to solve. Cons:
Opens a number of new issues server-side. Would split the Community.

    - Having a full wipe (except blueprints) with solutions to make old time players able to rebuild their favorite Constructs quickly through various means.

(Here are a few examples of discussed ideas to reach this goal: for our veteran backers, starting pool of talents points and/or quanta, resource multiplier event right after the reset, etc.).

    Pros:
Prevents loopholes for an economic reset compared to a partial wipe. Most efficient, proper way to remove schematics. Most efficient, proper way to handle a planet revamp. Cons:
Some possibilities discussed could be seen as an unfair advantage.
Keep in mind, if the above solution is decided on, that an improved version of the Blueprint / Construct deployment tool available to all players will be implemented in-game at the time (or maybe even before) such a solution would be applied to the game.
Such improved version will enable players to have:
A preview of the Construct before deploying the said Construct from a blueprint (this feature should be available with Athena release). An ability to auto-align the preview of the Construct on an already deployed Construct (this feature should be available a bit later after Athena release).

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Though this may seem to be a long explanation, it’s a (very) short description of everything the Novaquark team has discussed so far on this topic. So stay tuned, and we thank you again for your patience and support. As mentioned before, our decision will not be made on a whim, but will be made considering and pondering all of the factors mentioned above.

Let us know your thoughts on all this here!

Neuritico reacted to blazemonger in [Poll] wipe or no wipe
A poll on the wipe is meaningless as NQ has made the decision some time ago and it's really hard to not expect to see that wipe happening for a number of pretty obvious business reasons.

For one, not announcing a "no wipe" makes no sense at all which points to a wipe coming. Effectively, most of us who are in favour of a wipe will not agree to it not happening but would not threaten to "leave the game" because of it. That said, a majority of "no wipe" campers are just making empty threats I am sure and will stay on with the rest of us when the wipe happens. So, if a no wipe was decided there really is nothing that would make sense to not announce it well in advance

The game being reset just prior to launch makes sense at it is a justifiable expectation for incoming players AT LAUNCH to enter a cleared world and not the massive mess we see now i many placed.

Then, the expiring beta keys will need to see their assets removed from game for one and NQ will seek opportunity to incentivise these accounts to convert to a subscription. A wipe and head-start is a good tool for that.

The notion that abandonment will fix the above really is not justified, it will only mean that some players will have a massive lead going into launch which also goes back to the first point. And no, this is not the same as resetting each year after launch..

NQ really has only once said there would not be further wipes in a press release around beta, every single comment or indication around this has left a wipe squarely on the table.

I can see one possible reason for NQ to hold back on the no wipe and that is they may be trying to get the new planet design into the game at launch, that would guarantee the need for a wipe and they may want to be sure they can/can't add that for launch before making the announcement.

Anyway, a wipe would not be a full one as prior to beta because that is not something NQ can do as they have started charging players for access and they can’t take specifically the accrued talent points away so these will go back to the pool.

Finally, “a level playing field” is not an argument or issue here. Too many try and pull that in to dismiss the wipe. This is not about that at all as even on a full wipe, the pre-launch players will have a massive advantage over new players and the talent points will only seriously amplify that.

Neuritico reacted to Shredder in NQ: Time to answer the question - Will there be a wipe?
So many people seem to be blind to (or want to ignore) the fact that current numbers will not sustain this game, even double or triple current numbers will result in the servers being turned off within a year or so. Which is a de facto ultimate wipe.

This game needs 50k+ subscribers to keep the lights on. In order to do that NQ has to do a massive advertising push at launch, and needs to advertise launch as ‘the true start’, that’s their best shot. This requires a reasonably comprehensive wipe (at the minimum the removal of all quanta and all skill points.)

All you people saying ‘what’s the point’ need to realise that that’s what new joiners want, they don’t want to feel like they’re starting on the back foot.

I get that within a week or two the rich people will be rich again.

I get that knowledge of the game is worth more than everything else so it will never be a level playing field.

I get that it’s annoying that people will loose everything they’ve worked for.

I get that people have spent a bunch of money on this already.

None of this matters, the fact is, a wipe will pull in far far more people than dual universe will loose from beta leavers. And numbers are all that matters to give the game a chance of being persistent long term.

I hope they wipe everything except static structures (with elements removed) and BPs. That way they can advertise the game as being ‘wiped except for aesthetic structures’.
