They will probably make another ad about "come to the best space PVP game" and make "V" on the login screen about it.

PVP? Not this patch, not next patch, the one after it... That's about what, 9 months? 6.99$/month that's 63$ to have faith.

    Survivorship bias.

I see the same thing on the official discord and reddit - the numbers are way down, a lot of the names I'm used to seeing are just gone. The two orgs I played with are dead, 60 players in one and 20 in another - and the discords are silent.

But hey the people who are still playing are OK with it...

Once again, my biggest issue with the changes is that they are putting up barriers and adding extreme levels of grind without adding any additional content.

JC keeps saying that industry isn't for everyone without grasping that the only reason everyone is doing industry is that industry is all there is to do.

Raising the barrier to entry into industry will indeed make fewer people do industry - but there is nothing else to do. So what are they going to do? Same thing I'm doing - playing a different game.

The problem is not just ignoring the player base but always trying to fix issues from the wrong end. This is just another example. NQ realized that players don't use the markets as much as expected (this is the good part). But instead of fixing the markets they are nerfing the industry (and maybe even mining if I read the previous posts correctly). That's an awful idea. Fixing the industry because the industry is broken would be OK. But it is actually is one of the very few working gameplay loops. Yes, there is a small chance that both, the industry and the markets will be saved. But it is more likely to lose both and in the result a lot of players. Good luck with civilisation-building without a population.

I think I might just come back to DU when there is a fully functioning civilization in place. Because building one sure as hell sounds a lot like a job now and not much like a game I’d choose to pay to play.

Mine more so you can buy less. Sell to those who control the markets for a pittance. Then Rely on bots to sell magical slave potions at exorbitant prices to power the Ars Industria controlled by the mega corps.

sound like the plot to the movie Brazil... or just real life in a few years’ time. And we all know how much fun that’ll be.

I had the same issue, in my case it was related to the shadow settings: having them to "none" was causing the game crash after loading.

I've set them on "low" and now the crashes after loading have gone.

This game is pretty cool ill admit, but it isnt fit for general consumption.

There is no real purpose in this game resembling anything other than legos and minecraft. What are we actually building anything for with all the limitations on everything in a sandbox game? What is the point of doing anything other than mining to mine so that you can mine some more to build a massive base or to go scrim pvp for no real purpose other then bragging right? Beyond that what is there really to this game? Its all subjective without purpose to make of it what you want it to be and nothing more to it really.

Vanquish383 reacted to MalReynolds in Transfer Units are too expensive for what they are
They're made in an Assembly Line L and require more resources than the industry units which actually produce something. They only allow one item type to be moved at a time. They can pull from multiple containers/hubs, and place into one.
My biggest issue with industry is running out of sockets on containers.  For example, the container with my basic connectors has no more output sockets and I want to connect another electronics to it.
So.. I could create another container, and electronics, and then connect to that.  Or, I could use a transfer unit to spread the output from the first (which is keeping up with demand just fine) to two containers.  The former solution is a lot cheaper than the latter.. but it irks me because it's less efficient in terms of space and optimised production.

If transfer units were cheaper, it would be ok.
If transfer units could handle multiple resources, it would be ok.
But, as it stands, it's just plain annoying.

I realise that if reached the point where I needed 2 electronics producing basic connectors full time it would cease to be a problem, .. for basic connectors.  But the same issue will simply happen again for something further down the chain.

For me, the fun here is building a well oiled machine and to do that I need a bit more flexibility with things like this.

First of all, I would like to say that for me it is ok to have to mine resources in order to be able to build. I like the idea that I am not forced to earn money to be able to do what I was looking for: build and fly.

In general, I found quite fun the building, industry, and fly ships aspects.

What, however, is becoming too boring (after 3 months of play), is actually the mining process:  even with talents, it is too much time-consuming. I spend more time to look for ores and mine them rather do what I bought the game for: build and fly

And flying heavy ship (S or M cores, 500 to 1000 tons) require a lot of time of mining: both for building and for warp driving them. I'm in a stage where I start to avoid building new thing only because the Idea to have to do endless hours of mining bore myself so much that I do not even launch the game.  If this aspect won't be improved (cosnidering also that there are not other mechanics to play like PVE, PVP,  exploration, missions, etc), I do not think I'll renew my 3-month subscription (that by the way I've already canceled).

I like the idea that mining, in the first stages of the game,  must be process that requires time and efforts: it helps to make the player the value of the ores he is looking for and of what he is try to build. But after several months of playing, advanced players should have more tools to make it less boring and maybe....maybe...funny. In my case, it find so boring to actually find a tile with the ores I need and then mine them that it even prevents me to play the game.

    Some ideas:
Advanced territory scanners that tell exactly where to mine to find specific ores (not just only a report of which ores there are in a tile), with a cooldown higher than the current territory scanner Drills or any mechanic tool that helps players dig in depths and return back to the surface: this would give a chance to build new vehicles! Any automatic unit that generates X ores every Y time (working even when the player is offline). Slower that hand mining, but It won't require players to be forced to do endless and boring hours of hand mining. Find a tile, eventually claim it, plant this automatic thing and then return to empty it every Y time until the tile is not drained.
I hope that the NQ staff is however, already planning to improve this aspect in the next beta release.
