Just wish you would all go to those other games forums, rather than trying to destroy a game you no longer play, all very vindictive.  I cant remember EVER hanging around in the forum of a game I had left to put it down, for me it displays the worst of human nature.

    Dear Noveans,

We would like to address the recent speculations that have arisen in our community, and openly disclose some changes that are happening at Novaquark.

First and foremost, Novaquark continues to be supported by its long term investors to allow it to launch Dual Universe in line with its original vision. It also puts us in a position to attract experienced talent to complement the team that’s already in place so that we can continue to improve the game.

Next week, we will share with you what we think our priorities should be for Dual Universe and how we hope to approach the development of the game with improved processes going forward.

An important change to note is that Jean-Christophe, the founder of Novaquark, has transitioned from the day-to-day management of the team to better focus on his position as a board member. Over the years since the creation of Novaquark, JC designed and set the standards for the structural and conceptual foundation of the game, and he feels now that a solid base is there for him to move forward as a strategic advisor. The recent changes in the administrative presidency of the company only reflect the transition of JC to his new role. We’re excited to have the team he has built deliver on his vision for the game.

Rest assured that Novaquark’s future is in good hands, and there is a strong partnership between our long-term investors and our team. We believe that the future is bright for the game and for the company, and we cannot wait to tell you where we want to take Dual Universe.

    With our warmest regards,
    The Novaquark team

Based on your last statement, you seem to not know how the game works. Parenting is both between constructs and between a construct and a player. Have you noticed how you also move along with the ship when the ship begins to move, and when you go too far out, you no longer move with the ship? That's because you're parented to the construct. Just like how a construct is parented to another construct. The world parenting probably comes from the fact that any object attached to another is described as a "child" and "parent" object, respectively.

On your other points, common sense says that, if it is in the safe zone to begin with, it should be considered untouchable. If you do anything to make it no longer safe, or steal it, then it's exploiting a mechanic unfairly. If that mechanic is bugged, or working as intended, using it to get a ship outside the safe zone or crash, without the permissions to fly it, is a no-no.
But if it is in PVP space to begin with, you can do whatever you want.

The game crashes the moment I try export the lua. But that's fine. I can copy and paste the code however I like. I just chose not to use outside editors because I never need to use them.

No one wants to play a game where you don't know where it's safe to leave your stuff, and where it's not.

That's not risk.  It's just bad design.

A player left their ship somewhere that they were told it would be completely safe, and another player exploited a bug, in a new system designed to stop people from maneuvering their ships into space, and moved the ship, without the owner's permission, which is not supposed to be possible, at all.

The thief knew that there is not supposed to be any way to move another players ship outside the safe zone without their permission.

Should be a simple decision for NQ

They already addressed this issue though.  Technically they only mentioned "parenting" a ship to move it outside the safezone without the owner's permission.

But you don't expect NQ to predict every possible exploit and include it in the EULA do you?

It's pretty obvious that if figuring out one way to move a players ship outside the safezone to destory it, is against the rules, then figuring out another way to do the same thing, would also be against the rules.

I agree, in general NQ should be clearer about this kind of stuff.

But this situation is crystal clear.

Yes mate, we've heard this story on a thousand different posts already. Most of us have invested a lot of time in this game, so what ? If you want this game to progress, spamming the same thing a million times will not change something, if the devs have enough money, the game will progress, simple as that. If you post shit on the forums and all new players see your crying, do you expect they will want to try the game out? I doubt it.

Of course, it's everyone choice to do whatever they want. If you feel satisfaction of posting unnecessary comments that don't bring any value, go ahead and keep turning potential new players away.

At the end of the day, our feedback would contribute only a small fraction for the game development. If NQ don't have money to make new features, all the best, most constructive feedback/ideas will not save them.

Honestly, this community was great in alpha, a lot of people with good and constructive criticism. After beta, it became too toxic, unfortunately due to 10 people spamming all the threads in the forums and crying about how DU sucks in their opinion and repeating the same thing over and over. Like you said, this is extremely bad for new players who are interested in the game.

All the people spamming the forums just get their dose of dopamine when someone likes their post/comment, since they don't have anything better to do in their life. It's saddening to see an awesome game fail due to the toxicity of a small number of nolifers, but at the end of the day, it is what it is. If you really support the game and want it to succeed, play it, bring some friends with you, have a nice time, don't spam the forums with unnecessary negativity, like 80% of the people here.

I will keep playing the game and pay my 2 subs every month to support the development as much as I can. At this point, this is all we can do if we want a good future for DU.

Also, to all the people crying in this forum how the game sucks, I feel sorry that you need to have some random dude agree with you on a forum to have meaning in your life.

    That is not true...
A good amount of critical mechanics and decisions failed. Making the game fail. But some things were made great.

For a voxel dynamic game, colision is working (unlike empyrion).

I love how sound changes when we enter a construct, even being dynamically constructed.

I love to walk around my ship and look at the window, while orbiting at low altitude or leaving a planet. Almost feels like i can grab the atmosphere.

I like the scanner mechanism to find ore.
With the lines and with the distance.
Looks quite good and works well.

I like engineering report on constructs.

I like the lua scripting and the screens with html.

Do those pearls make the game viable. Nope.
But it is unfair to say that everything failed.

    Hahahahaha soooo true dude.
And in all your posts you forgot one thing, which is important: The community.
In the few days i am inside the game, everyone is helping to answer questions. Different languages in the chat was absolutly okay for anyone, noone was upset.
Helping players out of situations seems to be a must for everyone and this shows me a respectful community.

I knew that i pay for a beta game. I know what beta means. I didn't know what i get, but i know without people like you and me, dreams like this game, little studios can't handle and it will allways be a dream. I am 53 yo now, played alot in my life and backed some games. Some were released, some still under construction (many since years) and some gave up, or were taken over ...
Some managed to release the product they wanted, some didn't and some did more then they promised.

For me as a gamer, i want to get surprised. I want a game i can PLAY and not start a button relax and watch a movie. Gaming means learning by doing, fail, start again and have fun. Not starting a cheat and have fun see other fail cause of what i am doing.
In a week i learned alot about the basics of this game, way off, the game may go to and it fascinated me so far. Yes there are some moments i ask myself: You could do better but it is my part then, to tell the developer about my minds and not geting mad. At market, f.ex., i would build in an autodock procedure, with landing/parking zones based on T1-T5 ships/vehicles. Ships/Vehicles will be transfered to a parking position after 5 minutes, with notification to the pilot, of the parking area and a marker maybe.

So, i am inside the game since a few days (6 or seven i guess) and did:

    Tutorials
    learning about the speeder
bought a little ship for 188k
    builded a base on sanctury
managed to get into space without help
learned about newton and weights (x0,102 is the number you need in your mind)
crashed 2 times cause of not knowing it ^^
living now on Alioth and have a container S industrial running, on auto, limited to 10 container for the first.
The mining works perfect now and already have close to 3 million points
Money is always low and i have paper arts on my table in real for container hubs, to understand what i did wrong
    etc etc etc...

Maybe the 3 month are enough and i walk to another game, maybe this game gets me like eve online in 2001 (beta test) and from 2003-2010, again from 2016-2017 and each year cost 144 Euro.
In 1990 ugly graphic was okay, the game was more important and the fun. A single game price was at 70-100 DM, thats arround 35-50 Euro. The game was finished and sometimes, nah, often full of bugs. Internet just started, so you got your updates from PC magazines, or from the developer directly, per post.
Setup and configuration for sound drivers, graphic etc. you had to do by yourself !! DOS 5.1 was the OS we used.
The people today do not understand how long a game development cost, how much people want to get paid and the complexabilty of data transfer through the internet, all over the world. The massive income of data, faults, unknowing problems of players, who send their information all at once in a second and await that the developer react in another second, which is IMPOSSIBLE !
It takes time and we should see this and act with understanding, not with madness.

Wait for the finish product. let the devs surprise us in all ways, but give them the time and if you won't back them with money, just wait for the final release in maybe 10 years. All up to you.
Cheers and sorry for my bad english ;)

    Hello,

What about having a possibility to export our ship as OBJ file.

There is a lot of application with that:
we could include that to DU Creator so customer could see the ship in 3D. we could 3d print etc...
What do you think about that?

I find it funny that this game is falling because of no new players and you want to make it harder of new players to make quanta.
There is a difference between more pain and depth.
But you guys seam to be a niche that enjoys pain.
And i have nothing against you, but you need to realize that most other ppl dont like it.
And the amount of pain in the game is one major reason why this game is dead.

In consideration of player feedback, we’ve been investigating the best possible solution to address a situation in public markets where parked ships have been causing clutter and performance issues.

To address this, we will be creating additional landing pads in those areas, then moving ships to them, taking care to spread them out so that the end result will be a better “feel”, aesthetically and performance-wise.

The first phase will begin today in Districts 6 and 7 on PTS where we will try out the tool to make sure it’s working properly. If so, we’ll announce when the operation will happen on the Live server. That will require an extended downtime, so we want to do it when it will be the least disruptive to peak playing times for the community.

Sometimes we got a little sentimental.

I wonder sometimes if we as a community, or just me, could have somehow done more, to show the money people, what an incredible game Landmark was.  If maybe we had done more they would have gotten it.  I dunno.

I wish everyone here would try to keep in mind, that this is a completely unproven idea.  The sure shot would have been to make a fortenite clone in space.  Maybe a zombie shooter battle royal ?

It's up to us to help prove that this is a good idea.  And picking it apart while it's half finished and shitting all over it, isn't helping.

I think the bad decisions that NQ makes, are due to a lack of faith in the project, by the marketing and money people.  Apparently their job is to sell the game to anyone and everyone as fast as possible, whether they like it or not.  And it's up to the devs to somehow catch up, if they can.

I guess the question is, do we want to help, or just throw shit from the sidelines and point out the obvious mistakes.
