Alrighty, let's talk about today's DevBlog!

What do you think of the plans so far? Is this a good starting point or are there additional functions you think wallets will need?

I moved the Idea Box up in 'ranking' so it now appears right under the Beta Announcements/Updates section.

Alright! The team has confirmed that they can reproduce this issue. It is indeed a bug and they are currently working to fix it.  Please stay tuned - a solution is on the horizon.

And here we have it, NQ is completely clueless about their own mistakes and the fallout it has on the game. Once more they allow the big orgs to take advantage of the blunders NQ makes and seems afraid to take corrective action. NQ seems entirely oblivious about their own game and in the process continues to cause damage and harm that is left as is..

Until one or a handful of players make a mistake that causes no harm really to then come down hard and ban these players from the game.. It seems NQ is hell bent of seeing their game fail.

As and example of how this should be handled:

During an event in EVE, CCP by mistake seeded original blueprints for a faction battlecruiser. Doing so causes great potential for damage to the economy of the game and so CCP immediately announced the mistake and told player  to not copy or research these blueprints and also that all blueprints seeded would be removed form the game, collected blueprints would be exchanged for copies as intended and any copied or researched blueprints made by players would be removed.

Put in the same situation NQ would not even recognize the potential damage and just shrug it off. They just allowed big orgs to obtain high tier schematics like warp beacons at less than the production cost of such item, pretty much handing these orgs free beacons, just like they allowed these same orgs to obtain scanner, warp drives an d similar items day 1 of the pre-beta by dropping wrecks with  such items in the world. And NQ thinks that is fine.

This is a massive blunder to begin with and a spineless response showing NQ really does not actually care for the game and/or it's community.

If they do not change their attitude the game _wil_ fail.

Bad decision, you managed to fuck the ecomony. The whole reason for the new factory system was to expend the End-game and now that is gone. Because a bunch of people have every schematic in the game.

When will NQ realize that they are providing a subscription based live service game which was released 27th August in "beta" and they need to stop acting like it is september 2017 and they are about to start closed pre-alpha with backers?

It would appear NQ will never learn .. By now this is a chronic and structural problem that I feel is fed by a company culture of "if we say nothing, maybe it will just go away" which frankly is an insult and sign of disrespect towards your player base and a reason many games have failed and disappeared.

All this talk about how important the economy is and when shit happens, which it will and does, NQ does nothing and says nothing. It seems like they still do not understand that communication in a game like DU is key and that this is not limited to a marketing/PR sprint around a patch release. They jump the gun if someone abuses a mistake they make and insta ban these players but continue to refuse to own up to their own massive mistakes.

NQ seems oblivious to the fact they need to protect the economy in the game, it's very fragile and stuff like this does massive damage. They continue to allow the orgs with big money to get stronger and more powerful, not by playing the game but by taking advantage of the blunders and loopholes NQ creates. Mind you, I do not blame them  as they get handed what is pretty much a freebie so hey.. why not. But NQ seems to not realize what they are allowing to happen and that is at best strange.

People bought stuff from bots en-mass and sold it back at several times their buy price.. money out of thin air.. Players got their hands on high tier schematics at prices below the cost of producing the items with them. The amount of damage and unfair advantage that has been allowed to happen is astounding by now.

Frankly, NQ needs to take back the items bought with refunds.  They have been repeatedly and consistently told they need to improve, they have committed to doing so once every 6 months or so for the past2 + years and still.. nothing changed. How can @NQ-Naunet and @NQ-Naerais do what they should be doing, being CM and communicate on these things,  when it appears NQ leadership/management pretty much does nothing to enable them to do their job.

DU has so much potential and promise but it seems NQ continues to be the big factor actively holding the game back from getting there even when the player base seems to try and stay loyal and pull the cart for NQ. They claim to be ready for release within 8-10 months from now.. a big LOL is IMO very much justified regarding that unrealistic and naïve expectation as it stands.

This stuff is why the game needs an “all but BP’s and skills” wipe on release. Reset the worlds and ore, etc..

I get it. I have stuff I do not want to lose too. But you can’t have stuff like this just go untreated in a PvP game with a player based economy. The consequences of these kind of massive economic errors only grow over time.

There’s a reason games wipe after Betas (and let’s be honest this is really an open alpha, not feature complete). There are going to be fuck ups, wildly bad balance passes, etc.. you can either micromanage their effects, ignore them and leave the game permanently damaged, or beta wipe. It seems like a pretty obvious decision from a balance/dev resource position.

As someone who is usually vocally and entirely anti-rollback and anti-wipe. I think this is a situation that would justify a roll-back. Yea it sucks hard but right now you lose around 24 hours. The longer they wait the worse it will be as well.

Sure the fact jonny whosit over there got 50 warp beacon blueprints wont hurt you now. But it wasnt just a few schems here and there. There are now people who spent as much as a billion on schems and have literally thousands of them on almost everything you can think of and can now dictate market prices to a point where they and others like them will be the ONLY ones who are able to compete in the market. That is unless you dont mind selling at what is esentially a loss on most products for a very long time.

This glitch has literally killed huge swaths of the market for most normal and all new players in terms of ability to compeat and literally invalidates .23. This means the only solutions are a rollback or to reduce schem prices down to glitch levels for an indeteminate amount of time unless you want a handful of super monopolies who price most players out of the market.

After this mornings huge screwup and bot prices were reduced 100x, I've seen screenshots of 10s of billions in schematics, and have heard of people who bought items at the bugged prices and resold to players who made hundreds of millions in a few minutes. When is this getting rolled back?

At this point it is probably too late to just reverse the market transactions. People are trying to hide the money in ore or moving it around, so the only way to catch it all is to rollback. If you just remove the schematics and return the money, you screw over all the people who had their buy orders filled and the people who sold them bugged items get to keep all that money. The longer it takes to rollback, the more annoyed people will be, so probably best done sooner rather than later.

I won't speak for everyone, but if people are allowed to keep these items, or the money they got from selling them, then I'm personally moving on to different games. There is no reason to play if someone who logs in for 5 minutes at the right time makes more progress than others who have been playing for months.

VerZalj reacted to blazemonger in Rules about blocking player advertisements on the market platform?
I'd agree that the wild growth is a nuisance and it's entirely on NQ for a lack of ownership and willingness to properly manage the game. There is a continuous stream of posts on the topic and NQ has not ever actually responded or shown any inclination to do anything to make this manageable.

Several of us have posted suggestions and ideas on how to address these issue but NQ just ignores it veen when it is pretty much impossible for them to not see the problem. Entrance to markets is generally blocked by all sorts of contraptions and the solution here is really simple:

NQ goes by the markets daily and removes any obstructing constructs and constructs which are not able to fly with no refunds. the owner of the construct gets a warning and on three strikes the account is banned. Any dynamic constructs that are left at markets for more that 24 hours are impounded and can be retrieved for a fee at a central location, say at the ARK ship, for a fee. Constructs not collected within 14 days are destroyed without refunds. NQ places XL screens on markets and introduces a managed advertisement service, players or orgs can submit (animated) advertisements which are played on these screens in a carrousel for a fee.

Almost as ridiculous as no shields or other defensive devices and combat mechanics that amount to shoot first or die. The only thing (aside from fast travel) that warp does atm is allow unarmed undefendable ships to opt out of combat.

If shooting unarmed ships is important to you, you're a griefer, not a PVPer.

There's nothing wrong with warp avoiding PVP. Combat doesn't work right yet and the only valid reason to do it is for willing participants to test it.

When I can add reasonable defenses, e.g., shields, so I have some chance of surviving an attack without taking a huge loss, then it would be fair for me to have to take a risk commensurate with the reward if I succeed. (Currently, the reward for mining outlying planets is nowhere near enough to justify any risk of combat. It's also not enough to hire escorts if you're going to sing that tired refrain.)

Can we stop wit the "WARP is unfair" already. Besides it implying you want acces to easy kills, while NQ works on proper counters and planet side combat, the safezones around planets stay in place and warp should have the endpoint in the safezone. Moving warp endpoints outside the safezones will not "fix PVP", it will just hand kills to those not willing to put in effort and/or find actual fights.

The Warp exit point is not fixed, it depends on the incoming vector thus by slow boating to a ping before making the jump you land on a different endpoint. It's really not hard to make pings a reasonable distance and in a random spot from the departure point.

It would be nice to see it in game, fly with it, fight against it. Does it fly like a rock? A bird? it can be pretty but can it haul 100kL into space? Simulations even at todays sophistication can never tell all nuances or flaws of a design. Just look at Boeing or SpaceX. The only way to truly test a system, even today, is with a prototype. Even then flaws can sneak in.

Real life example is a modern car. $6 Billion USD is the cost of one model redesign. And that is JUST A car. That money is pumped back into the economy (game) by jobs, materials, research, etc... I bet you would scream if it cost you just 5 Billion Quanta to use creative mode.

Because it will take a big chunk out of the economy of the game and further segment the game.. If NQ does this it effectively ends the single shard game they claim to be creating where everything you do matters as it no longer will.

In reality they already split the game into two shards, once entirely inside a safe zone and one not. But  at least what happens in the safezone can and would potentially impact the whole game still. This would add a third shard entirely instanced into it's own environment.

Like JC smashing economy with soft wipe of paywalls for "players too isolated, not using markets enough", but this will exactly do this: isolate builders in their own virtual building reality forever (especialy -- from market, they will not need anything "material" anymore), we will be seeing only their "show off" screenshots, not them.

How is this a thing? It goes against everything NQ set out in their vision and actively counters the work they are putting into getting the economy going. What is this with NQ that hey seem to be willing very far in what they think is causing the economy to not start but at the same time pretty much announce they are going to introduce a creative mode which actively takes away a lot from the economy. Is NQ this desperate for funds that they are now on a path to throw overboard one part of the original promise and very string commitments to not ever do this to backers.

The fact JC mentions this concerns me greatly as the pattern has always been that once JC start talking about things like this and in this fashion, we see this appear within 6 months in game as it generally is something that is actually already on the table and in early stages of development.

NQPlease, do not do this. I figure by now it's safe to say that as the backers money has been spent you really do not have much of a consideration for your promises and commitments in the past and wil bypass us in your quest for new money. It's also obviously convenient that anything said during that time is NDA and so you can deny it easily and we have no recourse unless we break NDA. You are tearing down the framework your vision and pitch for the game was based on for the sake of winning over new souls and their money. If you are then just tell us and we can decide whether it is worth sticking around or move on.

Creative mode would pretty much split up the game into three.. The open world PVP game, the "no PVP please" safe zones and now the "I just want to build and not be concerned with cost and effort to get there" game.  I doubt PVP players would have objections against the introduction of PVE content (mostly) outside the safe zones as it will bring them PVP content as well, Creative mode wil not help the game, it will just help your bottom line and your are pretty much selling your soul for that purpose but I am guessing that is what this is all about and that is very unfortunate.

Over the past years many of us have given you a lot of suggestions and ideas about creating more faucets in game but you have not choses to listen if you ever actually bothered to even look at it (there is zero reason to assume you have outside of claims everything is seen, nothing to even slightly indicate this is in fact the case beyond reading the words maybe).

Why are options such as presented HERE not even considered when they will provide more gameplay, incentive to play, remove (financial) blocks and allow players to actually use their game time to build an in game presence outside of reverting to mining.

It's not he blueprints, it is that you can not pay anything or do anything to test and design your constructs.. you'd have unlimited access to any material and then take what you build into the live game.
All research, design and construction will just more out of the game and be completely free, no effort required and that will greatly impact the economy of the
