Yeah im not a fan of 2+ hour commutes or constant 6-12 hour roadtrips that are 95% inactive and mind numbingly boring. Its just not my thing I like active gameplay that actually has me do something rather than netflix type mini-games that are like "are you still playing?" with mining units for rock spawns when I could avoid the whole charge system by placing additional miners to avoid the efficiency drop in the first place when you should never use it on anything lower than T2 in the first place every 35 hours.

I dont mindless grind, been doing it for years but what is left after mining is gone aint that its just auto this auto that and spot checks.

I think it summed this situation up when Pann said we have two groups asking to delete scans or keep them and we dont want to wipe their hard work and we have a situation where are are caught in the middle and dont want to cut the baby in half. To which I say you might not want to cut the baby in half as you are attempting to strangle it in the crib when in reality its not even born yet and all of it is hypthetical to begin with.

Demeter exposes fundamental critical flaws in their initial flawed game design under JC's helm that pretty much developed them into a corner that is game ending to the point that it will require a complete rework if not ground up rebuild to make DU feasable going forward.

    Why? (TLDR version)

JC had a failed vision and hired a bunch of yes men/women who followed him and continue to keep following his misunderstanding of what is was they were trying to emulate and not make it their own. Going with a voxel game not bothing to do the research that it sounds good but is still not technically feasable in terms of data costs, internet bills, and performance and not knowing it would limit a space game to a single solar system since any additional solar system basically compounds the problem rather than using a hybrid of static mesh worlds you can build voxels onto in order to have enough performance to justify expansions. Then inviting the building communities of the failed games the tried Voxelization with the promise of Space Landmakr combined with Space engineers. The builder community killed any chance of PvP and the PvP community killed off the builders along with new players. Setting unrealistic expectations for mega orgs by feeding them and not establishing factions instead and doubling down by constantly feeding then misunderstanding that not limiting them and being forced to put out feeble attempts to slow them down while crushing everyone else with misguided updates that take out more then is added to the game. Because of all of that now needoing to pivot and remove and limit mining in order to cut costs to up performance, add a vertex tool that takes from that performance, and then fill it back up with hundreds of thousands more TU's, miners, containers, transfer units, machines to produce them, and making the world more desolate. At the same time not understanding that Taxes didnt work in the first place with the Finite Resource pool then turning it Infinite when the game was not designed for it which forced the Ore to be made more "Rare and less Propigated" which further compounds the issues since anyone 6 months from now that comes back will likely never play anything higher than a T1-2 version of the game since that is the only ore they will ever get and the progression they will experience. Taxes yet again meant to slow down mega orgs that further creates unbalance since NQ wont get rid of scans and they will instantly take all the tiles worth anything and make more than they are taxed while everyone else experiences the full weight of the tax and forced to pay for it with T1 mats which wont be worth anything since everyone will be doing the same thing with dwindling returns and a limited production of ore since there are more sinks than influx to the system. NQ now making the game based on Ore Per Month to align with their sub model which makes it as such as you now have to mine asteroids once per week or run missions to cover tax, and log in to use charges and beyond that there is no reason to actually play the game. Because of that it makes it so that production of consumables like space gas, warp cells, and even scrap will be in short supply since people will need to sell ore for tax and they will be the only thing worth anything since this update completely negates the need for atomospheric parts since spacestations are not taxed and all content is space based now.  Ore transfers will take a year of subs to get a full container of ore so PvP will suffer even if people are forced to slow boat between planets except for this with ore monopolies which will use warp cells with their ship scanning scripts on XS ships to hunt for anyone to kill until nobody goes between planets except for VR. When people start to default on their taxes and the month after demeter goes live and those people have nothing to come back to there is no need to play at all and they will tell their friends to write this game off. Which will force NQ to knee jerk forced updates like Territory wars since nobody is playing, building, moving ore, traveling, fighting, and those with ore monopolies roll over everything that still remains its game over since there is litterally nothing left and you let them win the game long ago.
There are no moves left NQ is willing to do that can take them out of checkmate, they simply just dont have a budget to rebuild the game from the ground up. They have developed themselves into a corner starting with the conception and direction JC took this game down.

And with the comment of we dont want to cut the baby in half it shows that NQ will never reign in mega orgs that have and will continue to kill the game since NQ knows where their bread is buttered and keeps feeding them. Funny since most of them are likely alpha backers who will never pay them a cent through their packages and armed with 3 beta keys that wont pay them until launch.

The taxes are aimed at them since they have been spoon fed this whole time by the devs who dont know how to punish them properly to slow them down and arbitrarily do things like say "hahaha boohoo you dont want to pay taxes" and at the same time hand them all the resources and prevent everyone else from getting them going forward or progressing beyond a T2 version of this game since the ore is rare and even sparse then before and all the metadata they are using is based on them with a flat tax when misunderstanding they are handing them all the T3+ ore which makes all their tiles profitable since everyone else will be sitting on T1 tiles and lucky if you can even find a T2 ore tile and stuck with all the taxes aming it not worth putting down a TU.

The real issue nobody is even considering is that because the planets and moons are all voxel based and not a static mesh the Voxel construct of the planetary bodies no longer matters at all and it was the sole reason we are stuck in a cramped solar system in the first place since it is not feasable to have anything beyond it and so we are just grasping at straws and trying to punish ourselves even more for no reason. If there were multiple solar systems, deep space, or a universe to spread out in none of this would matter. But the plan was always to ransack this solar system and then open up jump gates you can spawn camp so that mega orgs could have their own solar system to themselves and wield infinite ore against the server anyhow which always sounded dumb to begin with when everyone is stuck with a picked over carcass to fight back with.

The only thing that will save this game is a full rebuild from the ground up but seeing the mediocre dev team they have and the things they are deadset on actually making seem to me they are incapable of doing that unless they clean house and bring in actually MMO developers.

If they were smart they could just give you 5 free tiles and in the Territory management system just let the player decide which tiles they want to apply it to. Since I have no idea how it will work with existing tiles and they never said these tiles included industries or mining units being present on them so I would love to actually make my HQ tile(s) my HQ tiles but they just tried to gives a candybar because they felt bad for killing my puppy but the terms and condistions need to be spelled out for these TUs.

And honestly I really wish they would for once incentivise actually playing the game with some kind of loyalty system like most MMOs have these days with logging in you get some random perk like hers your usual 150k quanta but consequtive logings give like some kind of random element, voxel box, rations, skins if you play the whole month or somehow dependant on time played that month.

Then apply that to ore output from tiles for like 1L per hour across the board for consqutive logins with no upward limit and reset completely if you miss a day and not bind the system to some 24 hour timer but anytime during that day based on when the day actually starts.

This system wouldnt be bad if it got better over time with gains over time.

Had they actually spent the time developing an MMO and making actual AI/NPC and aiming to make an MMO version of Emperion this game would not be in the dire strait its currently in if there was anything to do other than grind to do pretty much nothing since bases have no real functional purpose and DU barely even qualifies as a PvP game since nobody really wants to enguage in it. Dont get me wrong its got promise but DU is like 10% of the framework of a potential game.

Warlander got a reaction from Zarcata in So NQ, I know your lazy af but can we talk about not wiping scans leading to Ore monopolies?
    Someone finally gets it.

The ore isnt infinate its super limited and even more limited by tier level when each tier is now "even more rare and sparsely populated". So we are getting less off the top, less in general, less location, and being pushed to spend and burn as much as possible to keep tiles and our arm bent to do limited 1 day content via asteroids or running missions which will grind to a hault with the limited ore pool to make space gas at some point soon due to the ore pool.

If the taxes start abandoning constructs and tiles there is no reason to play so the ore pool shrinks with everyone who gets litterally kicked from the game who goes on vaction, gets covid, etc for a month. You cant take a break and still there is not much reason to play even if you log on beyond topping off your miners or just letting your sanctuary tile run.

If anything they are limiting many aspects of the game ore output, industry, combat, voxels/voxel complexity, quanta, and most of all progress. Never seen a sandbox where you cant do much and every time you want to grab a shovel they keep reaching for your wallet and telling you all the terms and conditions.

There is no infinite ore through the new Demeter system. That is simply a false calculation. The ore on the planets to mine would have lasted for years, this no longer exists.
But to say that mining unites makes the ore infinite is wrong. Because these units have been limited. There is a limit to the recharges and there is a limit to the number of players. So of course there is also a limit on the ore. The fewer players, the fewer ores are in circulation. The same with asteroids. These are limited to each week. If there were a lot of players in the game, the ore that could be mined would be limited by the number of players and the deposits on the asteroids. (At the same time, the PvP asteroids are an ore destroyer because materials from the system are also destroyed there every week).
So, in purely mathematical terms, the ore has now become less because the mining has been limited.

The only thing to know is that Ore is now unlimited and it will just update what is in the tiles since the numbers dont mean anything other than the Liters per hour.

In the Vlongs one of the devs plays as an industrialist and was happy that he could now get free ore while annoucing they were killing mining. I dont honestly know if the other devs actually play the game they develop or if they have some kind of skewed sense of the game on their private test environment or if they just secretly play with creator mode or what.

It does not seem they play the same game they push on us.

Maybe they are just complacent and are numb to the types of updates they drop. Maybe they dont understand that every time they try to reign in mega orgs they smash small orgs and new players with schematics, etc and not actually doing anything to bridge the gap of disperity between how much it keeps making it worse by giving mega orgs more and more unfair advantages while we have to keep digging outselves out of the holes the devs keep kicking us into.

Flat taxes, content gates like schematics, and now Mining Units will do more of the same and all but secure their ability to destroy the servers completely when territory wars are live.

What NQ does not get is mega orgs can side step 1mil to put a TU down and 1mil a week as it litterally does not affect them at all. They could probably buy up all the tiles they want like whole moons and planets and it still likely would not hurt them rather than adding compounding sinks that hurt more the bigger an org gets.

There is a reason why in all other PvP games there are stong limits in place that will make a or break a guild/org by either skill or the RL wallet because of those limits and force stronger guilds to be formed to pick up the pieces when a guild/org falls apart under its own weight. I cant tell you how many times I have seen that happen but not in DU.

The devs cater to them and empower them to keep destroying their game along with scripting vs actually building tools, elements, etc we can use or making this skill based vs just having the game play for you.

Right now they have proposed a manual adding of quanta to however many tiles you have except the 5 Base/Headquarter tiles. You got two weeks to pay and someone can come claim it. Then you got two weeks to move ships and dismantle your builds and hope you got blueprints and some kind of way to tell how to reassemble it all and hope that all of it does not warp the voxels when you place it all back down.

And the threat of banning only works if there is a very small number of players, since banning a large number of players would affect NQ financially.

Their community is dying as is and they are just shooting themselves in the foot after they shoot any chance of sucess in reviving this game post launch in the head.

    Solid plan brah.

Had they launched 3-4 solarsystems as servers and connected them and made each a sepperate faction I would say sure no safe zones need to go as you would have factions and Orgs as different guilds under the same flag and pvp would happen oragnically but at this point Territory Wars will be the end of this game.

Warlander got a reaction from Kobayashi in What needs to happen with Demeter to make this game viable to do anything post patch.
    Territory Units:
BTU: Base Territory Units (5 tax free tiles) RTU: Residential Territory Unit: (Building Tiles you cant put industry or mining elements on) ITU: Industrial Territory Unit (Tiles designated specifically for Industry) CTU: Commercial Territory Unit (for when player markets become a thing) MTU: Mining/Mineral Territory Unit (Ore production tiles
Each of these need a Distinction for Tax Purposes to still cater to the different playstyles within from Industrialist, Builder, Base tiles, commercial, or mining. Each of them deserves a different tax bracket

    Taxe Systems:
Market Tax: Buy/Sell at a market or player market Territory Tax: Owning a tile Currently @ 1mil per week/4miil per month
Other viable systems of resource sinks:
Destructible Elements: With talents for how many times a person with the skills can repair a broken element before it actually breaks permanantly Maintenence: The more you use something it takes damage over time wether its Atmo parts, Space Parts, Machines, Doors, buttons, Scripts, etc it should all take HP from the element being used with its grade (S-E-XL) and rarity (Basic-Unique) playing a factor in how much HP is lost from 1-5HP/1-5hp with a max range of 2-10HP lost based on instant use or some kind of dot based off of SU's traveled. Environmental Factors: All planets inside the bubble should have optimal living conditions. Outside the bubble should be increasingly more hostile that has a dot that ticks every so often with outer planets being more brutal.
I bring up Alternate Systems of Resource Sinks since we now have Infinite Resources there are other ways to clear the excess from the system that requires repairing and replacing items off of Usage, Player Error, and Environmentals that makes this occure on a timely cycle instead of just flat out robbing you of your cash up front just to do anything in game when you cant build items, voxels, or travel because the Taxes dont allow you to do anything since NQ thinks its somehow going to push people to play more or they dont care as long as you keep subbing.

It should all be based on the more you do the more the upkeep/maintenence stings to larger orgs and letting other people build up to them organically based on the Grade (XS-XL-E) and Rarity (Basic-Unique) that dictates how much it stings when you have massice multi-core industries running 24/7 and massive fleets vs small orgs/new players.

    Tax Rates:
BTU's or Base Territory Units are Tax free with a limit of x5 BTU's. Mining should be allowed on a BTU in order to gain resources. RTU's or Residential TU's should be taxed perhaps 25K Quanta per week to keep them in check but at the same time restricting industrial machine elements and miners from being placed down on the tile to allow builders to build and keep up with taxes. ITU's or Industrial TU's should come with a Tax based on the number of Industrial Elements on the Tile itself. If you have machines, containers, transfer units, etc it should cost by grade (S-XL-E) and Rarity (Basic-Unique) playing a role in the cost of Tax being 10K+10K-50K+50K per element plugged into the machine so this Taxes effect those who need to be taxed more vs new players to set a distinction. CTU's or Commercial TU's should have a higher tax up front as not to bog down the system or to push people to still use the existing markets and district markets unless you can sell a high enough quanity of items to justfy having a market link with a Tax Rate of 2.5-5Mil per week. MTU's or Mining TU's should be based on number of Mining Units on a tile with no cap on Aquisition but instead the Tax Rates are based on Grade (S-XL-E) and Rarity (Basic-Unique) costing 10K+10K-50K+50K per Mining Unit as the number of Elements that are actually there since resources are infinite and there is no reason to have 100L+ per tile and requiring players to own 50-100+ Tiles Just to potentially get 1L containers worth of ore per day (if you have all the talents running at 70% effficiency and getting perfect rock spawns for 50kl every 35 hours).
There is no reason to incentivise mass land grabs if everyone is expected to get 50-100 tiles just to stay functional if for whatever reason you become deralect and are forced to sell what you produce if you can even get to other planets at that point to just keep up with the taxes and still somehow progress beyond being able to pay for 1 out of 50-100 tiles per week with the universal basic income given and make parts, voxels, gas, etc and expect to do anything.

The real problem being is they are aiming this at Mega Orgs and it is going to hit everyone else hard when these people have all the resources and Quanta and they are never reigned in with any realistic system to create some kind of balance when everyone below them is the real demographic being punished by NQ's decisions.

Taxes need to be based on the TU type and distinguished by what can be placed in a tile first and after that taxed by how large your industry, Commercial, or Mining opperations actually are and not some sort of superficial barrier number when it never hurts large orgs with trillions in Quanta and more Trillions in resources and Elements.

    Resource Limits:
There should be no actual limit to how much ore you can pull put from one tile as what is the point of forcing people to own 100 tiles just to make 1 L containers worth of ore per day when you can tax by the number of units on a tile without requiring vast swaths of land boxing out new players? Prospecting Talents For Specific Ores Per Tier that allows a player to research output on every type of ore to increase yeild without having potentially hundreds of thousands of TUs, Cores, Mining Units, Containers, etc being added to the game for no real purpose other than reqiring everyone to have 100 tiles/TUs, Cores, 200+ Mining Units, 100Containers, Transfer Units, etc for no real reason since this was supposed to improve performance and clear up tedium by adding this madness for 1L Container of ore per day and potentially 50kl of rocks every 35 hours if your lucky running around and wasting more gas or forcing me to fly 4 mission runs per day to just cover the taxes on top of it to cover the taxes for 1 week for 1L Container per day?
In the new Q&A vid the devs sit there on their high horse acting like mining units will somehow make up for regular mining when me and my friend both pull at least 2-4 L containers worth of ore per day and just to pull 1 L container now just to keep opperations going will need 200 TUs, 200 Cores, 200L Containers, 200 Transfer Units, 400+ Mining Units just to make up for what one of us can do in 1 day and on tyop of it we will need to pony up 200mil per week and fly 8 round trip bubble runs on top of it just to break even not including 20kl of space gas per run or if we could even impossibly do 8 runs in a day its still going to cost a minimum of 160kl of space gas to do it. This does not even include running our industry, this does not include taking the "profits" we now need to devote to making 160kl worth of space gas per day, This does not include taking profits and making voxels to build anything with, and it certainly does not sound like fun.

    Necessary Mining Changes:
Harvesting needs to use mining talents since 20L rocks are a joke and it should take into account mining quantity talents into the equation as a base minimum. Harvestable Ground Rocks need to have 5 Sizes/tiers added to make the harvest range from 20-1000L with the time to harvest added to justify the amounts from 10 seconds to 1min and randomly spawn with a high chance of T1 Rocks and an increasingly rare chance of higher tier ground rocks to spawn. There needs to be a cloned tool of the dig tool that does not actually dig but just spawns dirt and with the alt function sifts the dirt and pulls out trace amounts of random T1-5 ores that generates 5-1L of ore per 100L of dirt.snow, sand as another source option to make up for onworld mining. I also propose taking essentially the grid of XS-XL cores and just making a glob of ore as a meteor to asteroid then spawning it randomly in the solar system and hurdling it at random planets using the auto pilot scripts with various stats generated as far as speed or roll and making missions to stop them from hitting or it could come down on tiles and dow damage as if it hits an un-owned tile it could just have some kind of hybrid teraforming tool in the shape of a huge doughnut and deposit ore on planets that way or just hit the ground as a dynamic construct and sit there. But if it hits an owned tile it could potentially damage or destroy elements or punch holes in voxels. So it creates a necessary mission or counter mission to keep people from mining it. And since it would have the mobility of a dynamic core with random speed or a roll it would make it harder to mine as it slowly heads towards a planet.
    Scanning:
All scans need to be rendered useless and require new fresh scans to be done.
You gotta love their sentiment of "we are daned if we do, damned if we dont". I say you are catering to your whales when you just keep feeding them to keep them playing while constantly knee capping and screwing over everyone else when it has been shown that these mega orgs can scan whole moons in a weekend and planets in a week. It is beyond unfair advantage when they will instantly know where all the prime tiles are and buy them all up.

Just adding Mining Units does not make up for regular mining and there needs to be various means of onworld mining or "Harvesting" to make up for the gap it creates in potential ore aquisition. I mention sifting not actually digging since you dont want people to just redig all the holes or turn moons into sad potato shapes again and instead potentially just have a sifter require hydrogen/oxigen as water to sift resources as a form of gas in a sense to break apart what would have been dirt but does not actually require any dirt or dig holes.

As this patch stands its DU is not worth playing as it is an obivois rush to make the game feature complete while trimming the fat to make money while turning DU into a monthly sub just to break even as some kind of cash grab. Until something gives its neither fun nor a game as much as it becomes some kind of reverse job you have to pay them to work that has rediculous resource sinks, quanta barriers making the game impossible to have fun and still progress.

If NQ's goal is to actually some day have non one sided space wars that result in a mass exodus from this game they need to start aiming these sinks at mega orgs or they are just going to steamroll everyone off the server as soon as territory wars go live.

Its true they think that all these basic broke systems somehow form a game loop when it barely scratches the surface of MMOs 20+ years old and its somehow going to be fun with no meaningful content.

Ignorance is ingraned into the culture of NQ at this point and it will never change with actually building a game worth playing rather then un-developing the game they mad taking away large chunchs of gamplay out and chasing their tail constantly nerfing whats left and adding as much tedium as they can muster.

I dont know who that stoner chick was in the vids who had nothing meaningful to day that wasnt about exclusively her. The rest of the devs just seem to be stuck in a mindset of defeat and trying to figure out how to break the news that they killed our puppy or something and trying to distract us with a bag of M&Ms ore but we can only have like 10%of the bag.

Its not our fault they are all dead set on a dead vision of a game the first pitched and JC ran into the ground.

The biggest slap in the face was their heads in the sand saying people love this garbage and the reception was overwhelmingly positive and out of the other side of that stoner chicks mouth shes like I love how people keep telling me to die in a fire in such inventive ways while they all completely glossed over the Blue Whale in the room with their chicken and scrambled egg paradoxal idiocy that is the real fundamental issue that keeps neutering everything I used to find fun in this game.

I do blame them, not because of some form of entitlement as I backed the project but because I believe they are losing out on a massive opportunity in building a game with so much potential and by doing so denying me the opportunity to play it.

I do not care about the money I spent, I considered that gone the moment I paid as I always do when I back or buy games in general. I was so looking forward to them making this game a reality and bringing the different attitude and openness they said they would during Kickstarter and upto the moment they opened up pre-alpha.

I guess I'm just massively dissapointed NQ never was able to either deliver on the promise or take ownership of that and adjust their vision to what was possible. Now it's all about saving money to stay alive and that is never a good basis to design a game.

As the saying goes; A delayed game may get good, a rushed game never will. And NQ is and has been rushing form patch to patch trying to make things work, only to find they are amassing technical debt as they go.
