You're the only one who keeps mentioning Forgelight twerk.

Landmark uses BOTH Forgelight and Voxelfarm.

Forgelight is an MMO game engine created by SOE/Daybreak and used in many of their games including Landmark.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ForgeLight

    Dual Universe is using Unigine.

Voxelfarm is the Voxel Engine SOE used to create the fully destructible voxel world of Landmark.  http://www.voxelfarm.com/index.html

    SOE/Daybreak did NOT create Voxelfarm.

Novaquark actually considered using Voxelfarm at one point.  https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/14-voxel-tools-pre-alpha-game-design/page-4#entry2080

Do you think the Gucci counterfeiters call up Gucci and ask for the patterns to their latest handbag?

They buy a bag and attempt to reverse engineer everything.

That's exactly what you'll be able to do in Dual Universe.

    So counterfeit away.

It's already been confirmed that there will be safeguards in place to protect the original designer. And there should be.

If you're not creative enough to come up with your own idea, then you should be at a disadvantage.

The design and general sleekness is all thanks to a forum member here, Kiklix, who put it together for me, probably with Photoshop.  The picture itself is a House i built in Landmark.  I make them myself sometimes but when i do it it's usually just a screenshot with my name slapped on there somewhere.

There's lots of great concept art and screenshots on the Main Dual Universe site that you can borrow to create yourself a sig, if you don't have another image you want to use yet.  The max size for a signature on these forums is 800x200 pixels.

And if you don't have photoshop there's a pretty handy free online photo editor called PixLr that i've been using lately.  It's no Photoshop but it does the trick.

The devs talked about implementing a kind of preview system (inception system?) to test a construct, the same system that they could implement to build one.

For moving construct, you could imagine several data being displayed in real time while testing such as the current speed.

That is the best way to let customers decide : let them try the product.

Heliomance this forum is for people to discuss thoughts ask questions about the game we are all excited about. Specifically on this topic is to propose people's ideas. All you have done since I made my proposal is shoot me down, tell me it will never work, it can't be done and that basically Imply that I am an idiot. Other people have commented positively and added some realy good ideas too. If your going to go out of your way to make me and my ideas look stupid then please don't comment Unless it's constructive and positive like other people do

As I under stand it there is already working physics on the mass of the ship and the amount of thrust required to move it and I'm sure JC said in one of his videos that the type of material used can have an effect on the ships performance. Just to be clear I'm not suggesting the creator states these stats but the real calculated performance of the ship which is only effected by the quality of the ship constructed which again I'm sure those physics are already in the game. What I'm getting at is there must be a way to stop people selling a ship that looks great but is made of lead or mud for the same price as Somone selling their ships which are made from titanium or some other kind of really advanced composite, what makes a ship desirable on the market. We already know about bluprints for this ships so becoming an excellent and successful ship design and manufacturer is already a career path.

As long as there is a solid system for trading and everyone understands it no one should ever get scammed.

Never hit accept until you have exactly what you are expecting to get in the window.

There will be game mechanics for build protection, and it will likely be a feature that is a part of TU's (Territory Units). Unauthorized players will not be able to build anything or edit voxels (for example, dig or mine) in areas where a player or org owns a TU.

And it is true, players will still be able to attack constructs outside a safe zone, but there will probably be additional measures a player can take to protect their stuff. There will be some mechanic for shielding, which will require power, but a well protected structure would probably be impervious to smaller avatar-held weapons as the rate in which the shield regenerates will probably exceed the rate of fire of the weapons. If a player will want to break into your base, they will likely need explosives or a type of weapon built to damage constructs (not unlike Rockets and C4 in rust).

The devs mention continually that they will be taking measures to balance PVP and Non-PVP, so it will likely be inconvenient enough to destroy structures and large constructs that a player will have to invest quite a bit of time and resources just to break into one, and may not be able to destroy the whole thing.

Similarly NQ stated that though PVP will be permitted in the game, Greifing will not. There will be some system for reporting players who harass and destroy without anything to gain other than making players suffer or for players who exploit game mechanics to trap players or make it otherwise impossible to play. They aren't inviting a murder-hobo culture in the same way Rust has, "Rebuilding civilization together" is the motto after all.

Plus there are several orgs that are planning on building big cities that are either in the safe zone, or that will be well protected from pvp-ers and greifers. Plus by the time players will have the ability to do Construct vs Construct combat (where you have the highest capacity to destroy structures), we will probably also have automated defenses of some kind to make greifing and raiding more challenging.

The NPCs aren't there to balance the economy. They are there to seed it. Then once the player economy kicks in the NPCs are removed. That's what we know of the Devs plans not much else.

It won't disappear, the npcs could just buy from you and make a sell order with your iron. Another player can then buy from that NPC if he chooses to.

    Problems with your idea:

    - you would favor big orgs who can explore fast
    - you prevent small guys / small orgs to ever have access to such a deposit (because the big guys will defend it)
    - you prevent people in the early game to thrive and expand more quickly, because they have to mine everything by hand and can't collect money to help them build a ship for instance
    - some other reasons other players will state

There's probably going to be some kind of environmental sound effects or ambiance.   We can all agree on that right?

So the problem is this is a building game.  So an area that might have been a dense wooded area with fog and crickets might later become the middle of someone's stark white labratory or cozy livingroom.  This is something that they never solved in Landmark.  One of the things that drove me nuts in Landmark was ending up with the border between two different environmental areas in the middle of your build.  It would basically ruin an otherwise perfect spot for a project.

I think it would be excellent for them to give us ways to control any environmental ambiance or sound effects.  Even background music.

Eventually.  Not exactly a top priority.

Resources gathered from mining will deplete. Eventually, after enough people have scoured a planet, it will be devoid of its mineral bounty.

One way to mitigate this is to have has some resources be renewable. The simplest example is trees. Having plantations of trees ensures that there will always be a supply of wood.

When people think of farming, they think of crops and livestock. When people think of renewable power they think, solar and wind. Can we do better?

What about mineral crystal farms? These might require the soil of a specific biome and through a process that requires quite a bit of time and power (with lazors!), constructs a mineral crystal which can be harvested. This mineral could be quite scarce if not rare to mine normally.

Another renewable resource could come from collecting the atmosphere of a particular planet. This gas might be difficult to find otherwise. Creating the elements to collect the gas might be quite expensive to create and require power of their own to run.

Renewable power could be thermal energy power collected by a specific element from heat deep inside a planet. Planets that do not have a hot core, will not be able to sustain these type of machines. Maybe a coolant would be required or the thermal power element overheats and shuts down.

If these renewable resources/power are spread over different planet types, it encourages trade from those high density points to places where there is less.

    Can you think of more?

The more I read this response the more I think only the title was read and not the contents. Edit: added "additional" to the thread title to make this more obvious.
I am not advocating that mined resources should *not* deplete. I am not advocating that renewables cover all the non-renewable resources. I am advocating special renewables that require specific conditions to fulfill. Even trees need the proper planet to grow on. Some of these renewables might not even become available until a special factory/collector is built to collect it.

Solar and wind *can* work. It is done by making the power obtained by these sources exceptionally small. Wind can only work on a planet with atmosphere so that is already limited. Solar only works in the rays of the sun. It is much more efficient and reliable using non-renewable resources for power. But having solar or wind available for a small relay tower makes more sense than wiring it to a nuclear reactor.

    TLDR: Read OP.
