Really I would be perfectly fine with same ores just MUCH faster to harvest.

I'll happily risk my L hauler in pvp space if it takes me 10 minutes to fill vs an hour.

Frankly my biggest issue with DU is just how much time I have to sink into mining vs everything else. I will absolutely risk my ship to save time. I would assume others who have run out of things to watch on netflix while mining feel the same way.

People who are concerned about the resources in this game have no concept of the sheer scale of this game.

We could all be mining 24/7 for the next year and we still wouldn't be close to mining everything out.

Asking what you do in DU when resources run out is like asking what to do in Elite Dangerous when the galaxy is fully explored.

Yes, and this game is focused more on those people than...
    ...those.
Yes. With conditions. Pervasive free-for-all PvP is always going to be a thing. It's always been advertised as being a thing. That isn't going to change, I'm confident of that. There will be places that are generally free from disturbance. Until player-run enforcement agencies are patrolling in deterrent strength, though, space won't be one of them.
You can be free of ganks by several means.

The easiest is to never enter PvP space. Nothing anyone needs is currently unavailable in safe space. All the minerals exist on the celestial bodies currently in safe space, so anything you want can be made there. Eventually, that will decrease to only the Sanctuary moon and maybe (part of) Alioth. At which point the Sanc Moons will be reliant on imports of things over T2, and even for large quantities of T1 and T2. But you can do most things with T1.

Evade it. People do traverse PvP space without getting ambushed and killed, and without having to fight.

Get help. Lots of people like to fight, and would happily escort a juicy target, in the hopes that someone tries to kill it. At which point, even if you do get killed, you've not been "ganked", you've simply failed to defend yourself, which will happen to everyone.

If you don't want to bother to do any of these things, this is not the game for you. The President, founder and Creative Director of Novaquark has very recently said that he wants people to be prepared when they enter PvP space. If you do enter PvP space how about not taking stuff you aren't mentally prepared to lose with you?  You aren't special, and you don't get special treatment. If you make yourself an easy mark, someone will bounce you if they get the opportunity. It's not about "only being happy if they are ganking others", there are plenty of raiders who do other stuff too. And most of them are as happy to fight other armed ships as they are to unload on a fat, slow, unarmed freighter. At least right now; that may change when conditions do.

But if you "don't like PvP" have a serious think about whether you're happy to play in this game's mechanic-moderated safe zones, which will become smaller and smaller as time goes on. But bear in mind that most people in a "real" civilisation don't have to engage in PvP, because they have soldiers and police to do that for them, and NQ are aiming to have Dual Universe be similar (probably more soldiers and police, as a proportion of the population, than the RW, cos there will be more hostile powers and predators as a proportion, too). Whether that goal can be realised remains to be seen.

270,000 tiles on Alioth alone (a rough estimate less than 5% of them gone), + surface ore, + other planets, + market bots (+others sources in the future).  Are you basing this on anything more than a suspicion?  Any actually statistical evidence it will run out, or are you just sticking your finger in the air?  If it is the later, I will move along, there is nothing to see here.

Oh and your ore on sanctuary moon - it is a crutch.....

    Hello Noveans!

We would like to thank you for your patience during the past few weeks as we have been incredibly focused on getting you all into the game. While we know there are still a few edge cases out there, we hope you’ve been enjoying your time in Dual Universe!

A burning topic is known bugs surrounding duping, and their exploitation. We’d like to offer some clarifications on this.

We are aware of some bugs that were allowing players to dupe items and resources, and we are actively investigating  these. The process is however slow and labor intensive. Given how much time is involved, and how severe the outcome is, we want to make it clear that we are taking all exploits very seriously and they will carry heavy sanctions for abuse cases up to and including removal of player accounts and permanent bans.

We have a zero tolerance policy towards cheating and exploiting, as is clearly laid out in our Code of Conduct.

For those who have encountered these bugs and already reported them, we thank you. There will be no sanctions on those accounts. We may balance gains if deemed necessary.  For those who have been knowingly abusing bugs, you have 48 hours to report your activities via a ticket here: support.dualthegame.com - your duped proceeds will be removed, but no further action will be taken. Please select Gameplay in the first form drop-down, select the “Rules & Policies” > “Exploits” category and use the subject “Self Report” For those who continue to exploit, and do not report it, your account will be banned without notice upon completion of our investigations.
While every person has their own sense of fun, it is important to remember that this is an MMO and that rules must be enforced to keep play fair and even.
We thank you for being a part of the Dual Universe  beta and for helping us keep the game fair and entertaining.

    Sincerely,
    The Novaquark Team

No. Because you can't unclaim sanctuary tiles. Else you could generate infinite claims for sanctuary.

NQ-Whatever isn't an in game player.

GMs etc having weird GM only things isn't new. You can go back to Everquest days, GMs had their own zone that basically was a hangout spot. Anarchy Online also had GM zones. I dunno about other games but I assume so - nevermind GM gear that essentially made them invulnerable. I did volunteered as an Anarchy 'Guide' back in the day and my Guide char had godlike gear that no player could ever get. Was that a problem? No...because only my GUIDE char had it.

NQ-Whatever doing funky stuff is fine.

Now if an NQ employee made a char and gave that char 37 districts and didn't have an NQ tag - yeah ok I'd grab my trusty -------E

Cause that's abuse of power and is the same shit that happened in EVE with dev favoritism....

If you want to be upset about stuff NQ does - go be upset about NQ teleporting ships back to players after they were lost in PvP. An NQ tagged char having 37 zones isn't an issue or misuse of power.

I don't care if if the dev claims 100 tiles and builds a giant statue of themselves complete with a 30ft dong as a testement to their alpha male status.

No one is defending them cause no one know what that area is for. However, they don’t have to explain to anyone what the purpose of that area is. For all we know they could be testing exploits. It could be there today and gone tomorrow.

My point is, why would anyone care? It’s their game and they do with it what they see fit.

    Yes.

But from my perspective that's entirely expected right now given the optional and pointless nature of pvp areas.

Realistically years from now as the game is fleshed out and the concept of territory control becomes an actual thing instead of a 'vision' - then yeah the pvp guild may actually have a reason to exist and do stuff.

Regardless of how you feel about PvP, you have to understand that it MUST exist and it MUST be active in this game for the game to survive. PvP is pretty much the only resource sink in the game. Without it, everything you produce is worthless as everyone gets fat and bloated on resources and ships that they don't lose.

The absurdity is in that if Devs wanted to be sneaky and doing scary bad things they'd be doing it with non NQ-Name alts.

Complaining about NQ-Whatever owning something is pretty absurd.

Oh no - a dev holds 37 territories!

I saw those territories yesterday long before this post and couldn't possibly care less.

I'd be concerned if a player had them - but devs, in a beta? Who cares....well I suppose apparently I know "who" cares - the OP - but it's pretty silly...

This could be a test area
This could be a future site been built up to store whatever
This could whatever the hell the dev’s want it to be and they don’t have to explain why they have it

I don't disagree that at this stage removing safe zones is a bad move.

The borg cube meta needs to die. The hit chance needs to start working based on ship size. Damage toned way down and so on.

PvP right now is at best in a proof of concept stage rather than an actual well defined game mechanic.

Which is why the type of posts saying that it needs to be fixed 'NOW' or the game is dead are absurd.

So you get it - don't fly your hauler without a radar into a pvp zone.

You don't even need to go there - and if you do - do it EVE style - you know with a scout or combat support.

PvP needs lots and lots of balancing work -  but even currently it's entirely optional and avoidable. So the posts asking for more and more and more safe zones and so forth make no sense to me.

Way to kneejerk, going to dislocate something going off on one like that.  Also great that you have managed to come up with such a comprehensive overview of the problem from  your extensive experience on the subject...... oh no, you havent you have watched a bloody video.  Amazing how many people become experts on things from watching a single video,  generally find out they havent got a bloody clue what they are talking about.  To be honest I cant even be bothered to explain all over again what is wrong with this drivel.

Do you always pretend to be an expert in something you have zero first hand experience and suggest wide spread fundamental changes?  Or just in PC games

Currently this game is 100% safe, you can get EVERYTHING from within safe zones, and then get a warp drive which means you can get EVERYWHERE ELSE without leaving safe zones.  PvP at the moment is nothing more than a place holder and 100% concensual (you actually have ZERO reason to enter pvp zone, EVER).   Also, only about 0.01% of the players base has ever been shot at.

Infact going to rank this as the worst post since BETA launch, gg.

(just so you know, 10 years in Eve is about par around here)
