SuperBeast reacted to Ving in DEVBLOG: REVISITING CONSTRUCT SLOT CHANGES - Discussion Thread
Thank you for the quick response and the changes. These numbers make a lot more sense.
However, I still think that there should also be some automatic org slots based on membership, e.g. for every member of an org the org gets 10 or 20 slots automatically (without reducing the new numbers for personal and org slots).

maybe we could have avoided the panic if there was a player council that ideas would be bounced off of.

Thank you. This I can deal with. I appreciate you all being relatively quick at responding to the feedback. I can breathe a lot easier now without having to panic and worry about losing my ship collection or mining fields.

Hello Noveans, as yesterday's discussion thread was so lively, we would like to open a new thread to hear your feedback on our planned revisions.

Really gonna go and make it that much harder to build big things. You falsely advertise populated cities in your videos but are making it impossible. [filtered]ing joke

Oh man.. 15 + 10 cores as the max cap for any player regardless is really not that much and it is going to hurt A LOT of people badly.
Just of the top of my head.
- The new MU system is eating cores like they are candy
- Ship sellers need lots of cores for demonstration models
- Ship museums
- Creative players often use lots of dynamic cores to work around placement limitations for artistic expressions
Right now the only good thing I can think of is that this will limit the usefulness for making those pesky space elevators. But for big projects like race tracks, player driven markets etc.. oh man they are going to struggle.
And this limit will be a large hindrance for the stability of large community projects, since they will now be depending on the good will of players sacrificing slots and not taking them back again later.

This is another terrible update, at least the last one gave back a small amount, this one takes away again.
It's almost like you want your game to fail.
Stacking elements was a solution to the under powered engines you provide. People don't want to have to make engine walls but you leave us no choice, no one can make sleek ships because of your poor statistics choices.

OMG. i am a builder.. an engineer .. a collector.. a single player. and i have played for quite some time.
i use a construct org with maxed talents to manage my constructs. and it is always close to the construct limit.
enabling a limit of 15 for my org basically means the end of almost everything for me.
How is that supposed to work. people like building stuff or buying cool stuff, and they usually come as a single new construct due to how DRM works.
so we are killing construct selling economy?
who would assign construct slots to an org if you need them to even store your own single player stuff??
seriously?
and all the mining unit cores? dead as well.. sorry.. that would not be my game any more

The organisation itself has 0 (ZERO !!!!)
This means that a player must first "give or sell" places to the organisation, only then can the organisation go through many players up to the corelimit mentioned.
A player will therefore become extremely important for organisations that want to build large projects. At the same time, solo players will be punished extremely severely, as an organisation no longer offers core places and you only have the places of your character.
@NQ-Deckard Should I start tearing down all my buildings?

Which is why NQ should have done a wipe with this patch. But they refuse to understand that what they are doing is destructive to the game
It's the same with just resetting mining talents. How does that make sense when mining "the old way" is still a thing in game? What if I want my character to be able to keep mining asteroids AND use mining units. NQ once more both did not listen to feedback here and never considered many suggestions on how to better manage talents. Giving players the OPTION to respec once every 6 months (which happens to mostly align with major patches) is not unreasonable, actually pretty common in today's MMO games and a good QoL as well as being extremely low cost as far as development time unless your code is a total mess.
It really looks like the scans removal decision was a fluke, an accidental good choice by NQ, as otherwise they remain as ignorant as ever. I do predict another "we heard you" moment in a few weeks, possible shortly before Xmas, where they overreact and dial things up way too much. They need to balance this thing and wipe. The existing player base will still have a _massive_ advantage over new players once a wipe happens but ta the same time, it gives new players a chance to both latch on to more experienced players and get going at a mor balanced pace.

And how is a newb supposed to get into space in any meaningful way with 200L/day, and the daily 150K that may or may not go away at release?
Never mind space, what about just being able to experiment with building and elements to figure out how the game works? It is easy to forget that a new player does no have a clue how to build effectively and make a functional space ship. And buying different elements for testing and making mistakes, takes on a whole other meaning when one mistake can be days or even weeks worth of quanta.
For some reason NQ seem to have this idea that they can pretend they have a full game loop, if they just slow down progress on the few working game features they already have.
And if I hear one more person say "just join a org" I am going to lose it.
That should never be the solution to work around bad game design. Especially when the game was supposed be an open world with few restrictions on your play style.

SuperBeast reacted to miaminice in How to progress after Demeter?
Like i wrote, i started last week with this game. I managed to build a Container M production and allready sold 4 containers. With these million i created today a Mining Unit S production just to realise that i can build nothing with the outcome from this units.
If you ask me yesterday when i will start to go to space and start the hunt for asteroids, i would say next week. If you ask me know - i have no idea. The updates kills my entire progesss. The game feels not rewarding right now. I can just build nothing. And i play this game just for building things.

SuperBeast reacted to BlindingBright in How to progress after Demeter?
His point is the huge wall between you and even getting to that point in the game. Starting from scratch right now is insane compared to yesterday, unless you do pure org group play as a noobie it'll be a huge grind to get established as a solo-player compared to before demeter. Oof.
As an established player, these changes are rough- but for new players starting out... it's near pure brutality mode now.

I am a new player choose my frist tile on the sanct moon last week. With the today update i run into serious problems. Can someone please explain me how to progess after the demeter update?
The mining units just produce 20l/h and with my charges i can substain 4 units (6 hour chage cooldown and the units need a calibration every 24 hour). Thats 80l/h, 200L every day on T1 ores. Can someone explain my how to progess with this kind of yield?
Before Demeter i mined around 20 000 ore per day. I see no way to get into space with just 200l every day.

Yeah, I don't do discord, so a write up would be nice.

SuperBeast reacted to blundertwink in Gathering your questions for the Q&A on Wednesday, December 1st
Is there a written summary of the Q&A?
I don't understand why NQ always posts videos with no summary (often 1 hour+ with no edits) or in this case does it live with no other feedback.
Posting a summary and locking this thread would be very helpful...
It's like NQ wants us to go out of our way to get any information and if we're not willing to wade through hour-long videos or can't make a live Q&A that's too bad for us.
For a company that's promised to "do better" with communication, they seem to only put forth the minimum effort. It's always up to the community to post videos of the Q&A or written summaries.

Thanks for doing the Q&A in discord, it was too short though and you guys were picking and choosing too many questions.
A couple you missed:
How closely is NQ monitoring the game in regards to the tiles claimed, hotsots and distribution of the ores? Are you concerned at all that most of the valuable hotspots are already claimed and future players will not have a chance or own a tile that is worth much, especially if they want to start up industry. Think 3 months, 3 years, etc. As ore prices drop, we have the bots at 25q, but this used to be 12.5q, and even that is a finite amount, once the bots are cleared out, ore can, and has, fallen to abysmal prices. Lastly, on the Mining Units, can we get a status screen, showing a list of all MUs that we have, time of last calibration, etc. No one really likes playing spreadsheet simulator except accountants, and I don't even play one of those on TV, but it's a necessary evil right now. Thanks again

Since the direction of DualUniverse has changed with Demeter and coming and will no longer offer the content in the form as once pronounced and marketed, what will NQ's position be on claims for returns or replacements for packages or subscriptions already purchased?

It has been mentioned several times.
1. Resources in most territories are not enough to cover the weekly taxes per TU. At best with all your talents in trained you will have come to be either even or no more than 1 to 2 percent profit, which leaves you unable to do much.
2. I have scanned over 300 territories on Alioth in 2 days using 3 scanners and I have yet to find a T2 Ore. Malachite and Acanthite are necessary ores to make most things that are useful for space. Having read through many of these questions I can see the same is true for most places in the system where there are very few T2 ore sites.
3. While PVP is something that most people with bully styles of play love, it does not fit the lore or societal model of the game. A society that was able to pull through from a failing planet, travel 10K years from their original home world to repopulate and survive a catastrophe does not seem like the type of society that would start fighting over resources in a new planet and go back to what they were escaping so quickly. It does not seem logical to make it that right out of the gate a society that has endured so much will immediately go back to the petty conflicts that brought them to Alioth. If there is going to be PVP in a game like this one, you need to bring the conflict in another manner, be it a different race or faction that lives in the same system or one adjacent.
4. Manual Mining was a drag, now its even worse, sure I don't have to dig it up manually but I cannot make enough to pay for one tile, nothing to say about getting tiles for higher tier materials. Now instead of manually digging materials up, i have to tend to mining units constantly or I don't get what I need.
I came back because the promise of automated mining made it more appealing to play and not have to be dedicating 8 hour days to dig up multi million liters of ore to be able to do what the guild does. My guild started on this game with a lot of enthusiasm, but you have managed to kill that enthusiasm. It seems that whomever is directing this ship is not a gamer, or they have a really sick sense of what fun and entertaining is.

Why has NQ designed Mining unit access in a rather inconsistent way through RDMS
The RDMS system is designed so that any individual element (group) on a construct can be given access rights to and with access permitted, so is use of said element.
If I have mining rights on a tile and I own the construct the mining unit is on, that should suffice.
Currently, unlike any other element in the game, the mining unit has it's own rights entry for the sole purpose to activate it. This is inconsistent with the design of RDMS.

Hi
I like the update and i like the game but i have a mysterious feeling inside me when i play the game . If you can please explain us.
Is there going to be a wipe of all things at the release of the game ? Specific Quanta , Constructs or anything else ?
Will help a lot.
Thank you

SuperBeast reacted to vylqun in Gathering your questions for the Q&A on Wednesday, December 1st
So a few questions here:
1. There are exactly two quanta faucets in the game, a constant one, 150k per day and player, as well as a farmable one, the mission system. With the newly introduced sink in form of taxes, which require 1million per week and active hex, a single player can support exactly one workable hex (mining, industry, dispensers etc.) without having leftover quanta to buy items.
If we asume that every player has at least one active hex, while most will have more than that, the mission system is required to provide enough quanta for the system to offset those taxes, else we will face a serious deflation with ore values dropping below tax-sustainable prices.
How does NQ intend to fix the alt abuse of the mission system while maintaining the ability to earn enough quanta to support those taxes? (while answering please keep in mind, that many players only have a few hours per week and can't really run many missions)
2. From my preliminary scanning of, effectively, 1/6th of Symeon, i can tell that there are very few T4 nodes across the planet. Most of the good spots either are already taken, or will be taken within the next week. How does NQ plan to have new players participate in the mining system if there are no really good spots left? Will T4/T5 be considered a strategic ressource that only guilds and a few veteran players have access to?
3. Territory scanners require T2 ores. Is that intended? Without scanners we can't effectively search for hexes with good ore yield, especially if there might be a (partial) wipe in the future, acquiring hexes to min T2 would depend either on luck or on hours of picking T2 rocks from Sanctuary before you're able to build a scanner line and a few finished products.
4. Currently there are quute a few hexes bugged for several days already, that means, the ore pool that should be (for example) 140/h is only 40/h without anyone mining. As this directly impacts the ability of the players to generate income thats needed to pay taxes, is there any plan to delay the first tax payment or any other compensation that would player with those hexes allow to pay their taxes?
5. I think i speak for everyone when i say ppl imagined the asteroid system to be something different than "at a set time and day some asteroids will spawn". With the very limited amount of ore a player (especially new ones without access to many hexes with MU) do you plan to randomize the asteroid spawn, so new asteroids can be found and mined every day during the week?
