    Dragoon, this seems like a pretty friendly exchange of ideas on the topic you raised. I may not agree that it would be an entirely viable game feature but it raises some ideas.
     
    Neopolitan I'll share my thoughts soon on possible mechanics. It's late here and my brain is functioning at low capacity right now , but it's certainly something I'd like to see added as a part of pvp.

    I am considering this strictly for the mechanics of this game.
     
    It's specifically designed to be balanced within the means of this game.
     
    People grow crops, "vitoc" would be a high demand drug for min maxers to get a tiny buff. Either HP or Stamina or some equivalent by the terms NQ eventually lays out, something 0-5%, just enough to make people interested but not a absolute must.
     
    helps create some base line economic value for crops that arent bio fuel crops. and a supply chain, crops -> refine -> drug -> market
     
    The cure has to be rare, it simply cant be something that players just grow a crop and cure themselves of the downsides of the drug, which is to either keep taking the drug and be ok, fight the drug and get debuffed.
     
     
    If they decide to implement skill loss on death, perhaps without 'insurance', then thats fine Ill live with it. I was specifically avoiding it though because losing items and the like is already pretty bad. I only needed a way to make people think twice about using suicide to escape being prisoners.
    Even if they suicide or die the drug needs to stay in them was all I meant by a permanent debuff, you only experience the negatives of the drug if you stop taking it every X amount of time.
    It would probably be a genetic mutation that makes their body crave the drug or suffer the consequences, by the nature of quantum immortality, this way when the RN reconstructs you the effects of the 'vitoc' continue on.
     
    The only ways you would come down with the 'vitoc' condition would be if you either injected yourself, or someone captured you, had the cuffs on you and used specific commands that the cuffs grant access to the owners.
     
    The need for the cure to be difficult to produce, well theres only one way to do that and thats to use the monoliths / discovery system. If you attach it to crops the market will in time flood with the cure and make the drug irrelevant.
     
     
    -The cuffs exist for several means.
    Granting the dominator access to looting your on character inventory, by extension stripping you of clothing/ weapons.
    Ability to inject you with shots / chemicals
    Ability to drag/ carry you
    Ability to force your character to perform certain emotes. or talk in local chat. (essentially turning you into a dancer or a shoutbox)
     
    And you have to give captors a few minutes to do what they're going to do, so the cuffs need to disable your ability to suicide temporarily.
     
    Suicide should have a countdown timer, and disable other actions. that way people cant just click suicide and keep running or fighting.
     
    If you get cuffed and logout, your body stays in game.
     
    Now on the other side of the cuffs, someone could just come and unlock the cuffs but then obvious repercussions might ensue such as the owner of the cuffs labeling you a criminal and coming for you.
     
     
    People and even kids see this kind of of content all the time, id say its pg-13 if anything.
    People get handcuffed by the cops and forced into the back of a car all the time, cops frisk people down and 'steal' their drugs and call it evidence. 
     
    The element for criminality of any function is always possible.
     
    If the entire community banded together we could build a chain of walls around the Novark Arkship and trap all the new characters in there. Give them a tag that demands they pay a mega corp a weekly tithe to get out of the walls.
     
    People might use ship reactors and overload them in urban areas as terrorist devices.
     
    Theres already many elements of this game that could be abused, namely the penis voxel ship I believe some were worried about. Just because the possibility is there doesn't make the game M for Mature.

    "We will make a devblog when we have finalized all the details. The preferred method will probably be to use SG probes, but you could very well travel to the destination directly with your ship or your colony. However, it's likely going to be very hard to get there and survive. Think about energy, fuel, and all these elements that will be difficult to acquire on the way. But it could be a hell of a journey, yes!"

    Well, we'll have to wait and see how the game is gonna be like. When we stop freaking over combat system, pvp, latency issues and server stability, we may petition for cybernetics and such.

    I too would opt for a better physics system than detailed characters. I am not a game designer so I don't know, but wouldn't it be possible to have detailed characters merely as "skins" but then allow for the server to treat everyone as identical physics objects? Sure you may have some clipping, but you would have the best of both worlds this way.
     
    Or does it not work like that at all?

    Hi everyone,
     
    Keep in mind that, in the Alpha, there will be no combat.
    So don't expect to see "Armor" any time soon. The Alpha Team Space Suit will be something not heavy-looking, as it's designed for exploration and mobility.
    Speaking of which, the Concept Art for the Alpha Team Space Suit is nearing completion (can't wait to show it to the community!)

    During the late pre-Arkship era, an organization rose up to challenge the UN's selection process for the Arkship Program. This organization is known as the Cinderfall Syndicate. Within the Syndicate, there were a few members who branched off into another direction: Industry. With a new goal, these men and women founded Chromion Industrial in hopes of advancing human technology.  
    A SUMMARY Chromion Industrial is a Corporation with an emphasis on Mining and Engineering. We recognize the importance of freedom and creativity, and are looking for creative minds who think outside the box. It should be noted that we are members of Cinderfall Syndicate, and we will respect their authority on political matters.  
    The only requirement to join is that you must be polite.    STRUCTURE This corporation has one leader, the Head Director, and below that person, it is structured into three Divisions:  
    MINING DIVISION The Mining Division is in charge of acquiring, refining, and distributing raw materials. This will be led by a Mining Director and two Assistant Mining Directors. The lower command structure of this Division will be determined in the near future.  
    Mining Director- This person is responsible for handling all mining, refining, and distribution of raw materials Assistant Mining Directors- These persons are responsible for the individual aspects of the Mining Division (Mining, Refining, and Distributing)             
    RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT DIVISION The R&D Division is in charge of manufacturing and producing parts and ships, as well as researching new technologies. This Division will be led by three area directors; The Director of Production, The Director of Research, and The Director of Special Projects; the lower command structure of the individual branches will be completed in the near future.  
    Director of Production- This person's job is to handle the mass production of Chromion Industrial's ships, vehicles, and parts. Director of Research- This person's job is to handle the research of new technologies within Chromion Industrial Director or Special Projects- This person's job is to handle any special orders from specific Organizations, and the research regarding them, should it not already be complete.  
    CHROMION INDUSTRIAL NAVY (CIN) Chromion Industrial offers a place for those who would like to spend their time fighting as well. The Chromion Industrial Navy will be tasked with protecting the members of Chromion Industrial and hunting down any who would attack us. This Division will be led by a Commander and a Lieutenant Commander. The lower command structure of this Division will be left up to these two positions.  
    Commander- Leader of all Chromion Industrial Navy (CIN) forces Lieutenant Commander- assists the Commander in his or her duties  
    SHIPBUILDING Chromion Industrial sponsors it's members ship building efforts. What does that mean? Any ship that a Chromion Industrial member designed will be featured in Chromion Industrial markets, if that member wants them to be featured. In exchange for being featured, Chromion will enact a 60/40 profit ratio: Chromion keeping 40% of the profit, the designer keeping 60%   There will be a line/brand of ships that are Chromion Industrial make, meaning they are designs created and produced specifically as Chromion Industrial ships, and not designed by a second party, i.e. Individual Members of Chromion Industrial. Every month or so, the R&D department as a collective will be given the task of designing such ships.   Occasionally, CI might petition one of it's members to add one of their ship designs to this line, basically buying the design from said member.   
    FUNDS There is no base salary as of yet, however every member of Chromion Industrial will receive a weekly salary. The Directors of each Division will be paid by the Head Director. Each Division will receive a budgeted amount of credits every week, and it is the responsibility of the Directors to distribute some of these funds to each member of their Division at the beginning of each week as their salary.  
    In addition to your base salary, certain accomplishments within the organization will grant you pay bonuses.  
    If a player remains with Chromion Industrial for a particular amount of time, they will be eligible for a raise to their base salary. They will also be eligible for discounts on ships and items produced by Chromion Industrial.   Note: If you are offline/not doing your job for an entire week, you will not receive salary for that week, rather than being let go by the organization.  
    DISPUTES Internal Disputes between members will be handled by their respective Division Directors. The Division Directors' say is final on any matters. If any Directors have a dispute with one another, the Head Director will handle it. The Head Director's say is final on any matters.

As members, we offer the same camaraderie to our allies, and we will not tolerate undue hostilities between our members and theirs.   JSDF Within the Cinderfall Syndicate is the JSDF; a group of fighters who would come to the aid of any Syndicate asset in need of protection. Any Syndicate member (that means us) can join this defense force; it's a purely voluntary organization.   
     
     
     
    QUESTIONS How will war be handled?  
    Chromion Industrial will allow it's members to participate in wars of other organizations they are apart of. If Chromion Industrial itself goes to war, we will muster up a fleet composed of members from every Division, with the Security Division as our lead.     I can be a member of a different organization too?   Yes! This is not the only organization you are allowed to join. We will not prohibit you from joining or creating another organization, so long as it is not an enemy of either Chromion Industrial or Cinderfall Syndicate, and so long as you fulfill your duties within Chromion Industrial.

    We are extremely happy and excited to release today the first iteration of our community website: http://community.dualthegame.com
     
    In this site, you will be able to create a simple profile, that you will keep with you up to the Alpha and beyond, and also create organizations, post updates about what is going on, recruit, create stories, and start to shape your vision of the game roleplay. Let’s have a look at the feature we have for this first iteration of the site and what could come after.
     
    The community website is a way to get you into roleplaying as soon as possible, and to centralize - in the future - all relevant information about existing characters and organizations in the game. We have seen that several people in the community have already started dedicated websites to advertise their corporation or guild, which is absolutely great! There is however no central hub to record all existing organizations, to have an idea of who is doing what or simply apply to join. That’s the goal of this community website, which will most likely not replace the existing dedicated organization websites, but could be the place where all organizations can interact with each other.
     
    The “character” creation so far is very simple: you can write a text to describe your character, and upload an image to represent him/her. The most important aspect of the community website is more about “organizations”, which is the name for a generalization of “guild” or “corporation” in Dual Universe (check the previous devblog post on organizations for more). Once you have created your character, you can either create or join an organization.
     
    Important note: if you have already a forum account, you can use it to log in on the Community Portal (you don't have to create a new account).
     
    We cannot yet implement the full complexity of the organization gameplay inside the website (even if ultimately, we would like it to be a perfect mirror of what will be in-game). We have just expressed two central notions: members and legates. If you create an organization, you are de facto the first and only legate. From this position, you can accept the request of other players to join the organization, and eventually promote them to legate status. Be careful of who you give with that privilege to, because for the moment, we have not yet implemented a way to demote a legate back to a member status. The reason why this is not yet done is that it implies a lot of feature on vote management to be able to make this properly. So, for the time being, a legate is forever! And it’s an important promotion because, as a legate, you will have the privilege of being able to accept new members, ban members, and post on the public wall of your organization. On the contrary, members can only post on the private wall (visible to all members).
     
    The wall of an organization, divided into a public and private section, is a simplified facebook-like post system that allows to create posts containing text, images or videos, and allows people to comment on it, like it, etc. It’s a great way to start discussions topics in the private area, or to advertize important news to the world in the public area. We are working on a way to have private forums also, and a poll system. Your suggestions on what could be really useful at the organization level is most welcome, feel free to discuss your ideas on the forum.
     
    Finally, players registered on the site will have access to a local email-like message system to start private discussions with each other, or be notified of pending applications for a given organization.
     
    This community website is just a start, there still much work to do. But it is already your playground, a place to start to recruit, promote your ideas, start a grand project or vision. We can’t wait to see what you’re going to do with it, and what incredible organizations and stories you will invent!

    Election will be a popularity vote or forced votes by unhonorable organisations.
     
    We don't need people that have no idea about game design and game theory having equal input to professional game developers.
