Noddles got a reaction from Iorail in Creative mode is coming.. Seriously NQ?
I dont get how people cant see this splitting the community. One of DUs good points is the voxel engine. Even with the limited creation tools we have now, people are still making impressive ships and structures. If all someone wants to do is build cool stuff, what reason is there to interact with the rest of the community?

And this thread doesn't even cover the fact that they mentioned adding instances PvP arenas where you can fight without putting your ship on the line. Thats honestly an even bigger blunder in the single shard mission.

Love it how NQ desperatly tries to split up the community.

This pretty much goes against anything NQ ever said in any Podcasts, interview, devblogs and the kickstarter up until now.
But on the plus side: I can then finally just refund my lifetime sub if kickstarter goals aren't met

Such changes do make sense and I think everyone can see that. It does add a lot of gameplay (potentially) at some point. But just not YET. It only decreases gameplay options for now because DU is just not there yet. Smaller orgs and solo players who don't want to bother too much with others are severly hampered because they simply can't build the industry neccessary for their building endeavours.
That means they're bound to use the markets (which is good I guess, tho it's very forced) - which will be empty for some time until ppl actually start to sell stuff. And this also means that they need LOTS of quanta to even buy those elements which they can't produce which means they HAVE TO mine (only source of income) to get quanta.
But this also leads to even more non regenerating ore being deleted from the game. On top of that, many ppl don't rly enjoy mining. To most of them it's simply a thing that has to be done to do other stuff.

And before anyone screams "buuuuuut lethys, muh makes mooonies by trading/transport/insert random other stuff": that may be true but that's not what the majority of players will do. The majority will go the mining way - same as in eve. I told all my org mates that it's easy to daytrade in eve and that I can plex all 4 accs with ease that way. Did they try? Nope. They wouldn't bother. Cause Mining is "easier". When I took over a smaller trading hub (dodixie) I found that there were about 30 - 50 ppl trading there bigtime - the rest were just very small fish. Same will happen in DU. Some will trade/haul/do other stuff to generate their income and they will always tell others that they dont have to mine to get money cause for them everything is fine. While the rest of the playerbase has to mine (in their opinion) to get money. And tbh, that's why EVEs economy works. BECAUSE of ppl who mine (and all the bots ofc) - someone has to inject all that money into the markets.

Such massive changes do make sense in an alpha and VERY early on when mechanics are implemented and when ppl have other stuff to do or when ppl CAN actually do something else (like specialize in research) - DU lacks nearly all of those mechanics to make up for it tho. And that's why ppl are complaining too

This is just reality of NQ moving relativly slow. 2020 window for anything new already closed. Now only quick fixes to incoming patch and thats its, Christmas time.
Next big thing probably feb-march (I hope asteroids, because by that time "ore riots" will go up). Then -- april/may, "real" PvP patch, some new elements and energy. Summer NQ probably spend in horrible torment to at last produce some sort of atmo/territory PvP (as Blaze likes to say -- facing sins of their techincal debt) to have it for "release". "Release"? Depending on previous NQ progress -- late aug - october, november in case of critical problems. Futher delay unlikely -- money. + some minor things in between for builders, lua people and other stuff like this.

Totaly my speculation, but based on observations how NQ works.

We typed our fingers to bones about this in endless "feedback" with alpha guys. Was ignored by NQ (if we exlclude mockery of "wrecks").

I honestly tempted to go to something that can be percieved as "devs bashing", but generaly current reality we play...  tells better story for everyone to judge themeselves without me going rage mode.

You're well on the path of going the way of Worlds Adrift.

You want to nerf industry because everyone is building their own 'Iphone' - fine - what are they going to do instead? What else is there to do instead?

You want to add element destruction? Great - I'm with you. It needs to happen. But maybe just maybe pairing it with the removal of the Alt-F4 mechanic, removal of Discord support and on top of that nerfing production isn't the best idea?

You think mining is too easy? Grea.....wait what....what? WHAT?! Have you mined in DU? How much? Look, ask anyone who has filled a 10L hub every two nights, there is nothing 'easy' about mining. It's boring. It's tedious. It's concentrated drudgery and one of the primary reasons I don't play DU anymore - but what it is not is 'easy' and never even in my most drunken state (and I admit I sure didn't mine sober) did I think that "Hey maybe if I couldn't link to my 10L hub mining would be better!" . In fact, when linking was broken, I just didn't play the game.

Just the fact that JC thinks that linking is the issue with mining - not literally everything else - makes me lose all faith in his judgment. Of all the things wrong with mining - linking isn't  one of them. Nor is the lack  of "mining hazards"...

The community has over and over and over asked for constructs that can mine - empyrion style - give us drills we can put on hovers - give even bigger giant drills we can put on stationary constructs. Give us anything besides handmining because 'easy' it's not - it's at least 7th level of hell grade tedium - and 9th if you have to deal with phantom nodes and pending operations. Unless of course you take my approach, get drunk and watch netflix so that the next day you forget about how hellish mining for 6 hours straight was.

Unfortunately I've remembered enough of those nights over time to stop logging in to DU...and the upcoming changes and theroycrafting about the future of mining have made it extremely clear that JC does not play DU either...he may goof around in his castle - but he sure hasn't built a mega factory nor has he mined the ore to get the resources to build his giant fortress if he thinks all those things are too easy...

Seriously - JC just logs in - looks at all the stuff others built and his take away is that mining and mega factories are too easy? It took us weeks of drudgery......I can't even...

Edit: Also - cores not repairable?! Masterstroke....

    That will be fun

The big orgs are already reconfiguring their industry to produce high tier stuff as running production lines will keep running post patch as JC said.. SO as long as they feed in ore, they bypass the whole change..

Great way to go about this NQ..

I should have put this in my original post, but Im too lazy to edit. This system doesn't prevent large factories. It just delays them. Ill still be able to make everything eventually, itll just take a few more weeks. Especially if I have friends and we can all split up talent lines. Power should have and needs to come first. Every single "balance" patch NQ has done or proposed in the last month means nothing when power finally comes.

We all know power should have been one of the first mechanics in the game, but here we are. NQ has to focus on power if they want any of these balance changes to mean anything.

Tbf if it is like previous Q&A sessions, they'll ignore the actual good questions and just answer the same ones they have answered for the last 6 months.

On topic though, there was clearly not a lot of thought that went into implementing this system. Assuming you need a schematic for every single part, why should I need to buy a schematic from a bot to build basic screws, when I can already do that in my nanopack?

In the end, Ill be fine. I already have a massive factory and the backing of BOO. But what about the small groups? The ones who don't have millions or billions of quanta at their disposal. And what of the new players? How are they supposed to get involved in industry? Because its hard to find an org with an industry setup that will just let you hop in considering you lack basically all skills. The new players cant exactly afford to spend a million quanta just to break into industry. NQ has added another quanta sink without a faucet to balance.

As a side note, what happens to Transfer units? Its not like they're different than regular industry units. Will I need to buy a schematic for my Transfer units so that way I can make my industry actually efficient?

Worth to mention, that to add insult to injury, there was serious leaking from ATV. Pretty accurate info about changes was around for enough time for people to prepare and even futher maximize (already existing) huge advantage.

ATV in current form must be disbanded.

Please ask about how soon we can expect a change with ships being stuck to others in space. Removing the manoeuvre tool's ability to lock ships in space will require everything to be on a landing pad. Ship's clumped together in space stick together, large core ships are the absolute worst with this.

Also ECU's don't keep a ship still if you fly off about ~300 metres away.

Thanks to everyone who attended the END OF THE WORLD PVP event.

The purpose of this event was to gather the population of DU for a mass-brawl before the upcoming changes.
Unfortunately, there weren't that many attendees so in the end the field was largely dominated by BOO.
Larger alliances such as the AC did not attend for their own reasons.

At the beginning there were 66 targets on screen, less than I had anticipated however the server still seemed pretty well alive and kicking which was great to see (Yes I was hoping it'd blow up lol).
There were apparently even fireworks set off by NQ which I haven't even personally noticed.

There were plenty of greyed out ships out there, what happened to them, I personally am unsure. REDA were collecting wrecks off the field.

Thank you to everyone that came, I hope you got a good taste of a large scale operation, may such things still be possible in the future, come this update.

In the end, the BOO large core Decadence rammed into a ship owned by atom, most amazing total ship explosion you've probably ever seen in DU ?

Clean the tubes, dust off your seats, and warm up your engines!

Your presence has been demanded by the powers that may be, to participate in the END OF THE WORLD, PVP BONANZA!

This is a call to EVERY NOVEAN with a weapon. Soon the update will arrive, the time to leave the womb is upon us!
Only the strongest Noveans will birth into a new age of Dual Universe, so sharpen your resolve and under Helios you shall Triumph or PERISH.

Before the update arrives, we shall battle under the sun on the 6th of December, 4PM EST.

This is a PUBLIC event! Open to anyone willing to send off with one last triumphant Hurrah!

Come one, come all, and witness the Greatness and fall of our Empires!

    Event details.
    Time: 4 PM EST
    Date: 6th december
Location: in PVP space, few SU out of the Edge of the Alioth safezone, toward ION.

The original idea was to do this while JC's live AMA was on, however it will likely be on a weekday, so it's been decided that a Sunday will allow for greater participation.
The reason for this whole debacle is due to a rumoured update, that could come like a thief in the night at any time very soon and clip our wings due to a rumoured massive overhaul of DU's mechanics. So we shall pull everyone out for some fun and MASS PVP action while we can!

It's very possible that the servers will break, but I'm certain 98% of DU's population haven't participated in a mass fleet battle, so this shall be an exciting experience for everyone to look forward to.

    PLEASE NOTE:
Considering people may not wish to join the event, wanting to save their assets for the great update, Band of Outlaws will relinquish ANY ships that may be captured by Band of Outlaws in the event, thus alleviating any pains of loss, without taking away from the core experience of the event.

Apologies for coming up with this event fairly close to its date, there is no announced date to the new update which could come as soon as early next week (Official notice is quite likely to be a few days at most). Looking forward to seeing everyone out in force, lets burn down the Amazon servers together! ?

I wanted to talk not about any particular, concluded NQ-made events, but more about their overall direction and organization in future.

    Can we expect?..

    1) Prior anouncement (at least week before start, better - two).
    2) Scheduling on week-end.
    3) Inclusion of long-term events, where players can meaningfully participate in active stage in duration of several days or even week.
    4) Inclusion of more solo/new players friendly events, where they doing more individual goals, not being clearly pitted against groups of veterans.

If all you want is mine some, build some, explore some, quest or mission - do that (once the later is implemented) why do you care about other people fighting each other somewhere ? They fight there for high tech resources and risking high amount of their resources to get it. You can still use your "safe space engine" and mine all you need for it by harvesting rocks on sanct.

No you don't need any higher tier items, what's the point of higher tier items if they don't have any challenge to get them ? Imagine that your basic engine is the highest tier and stop caring about others.

TOS, COC and EULA are very misleading (not that we had that topic years ago already). On one side this clearly refers to RL scams and social engineering but then again the first line reads "When using the game". So you could argue scamming is against COC, but we never got any clarification on such topics in the past so the fight continues.....
