  1. Well, when I finish my self-driving fully autonomous taxi...
  2. Can I be in every LM org too? pretty please? oh yeah, and rum too!
  3. The forums here have a block user setting. It is imperfect because; one, it tells you "you have chosen to block so-n-so" every time they post on your thread, and two, you can still see others responding to the blocked person.
  4. damn, I forgot to add that and irish coffee drinking to my skill list.
  5. hmmm, Things I've been paid to do: Computer consultant, programmer, business owner, drummer, guitarist, graphic design, taxi driver, truck driver, sound engineer, and every job you can do in a restaurant and bar.
  6. I like this idea in general. The big difficulty would be in how much the Lua code changes with different components.
  7. Rest assured, that (In my not so humble opinion) there is far more depth to the possibilities in DU then in Eve. There will be a large group of players, and developers, who because of their love of building and creating will be working very hard to make a game that is fun for everyone. There will also, of course, be some players who only care about making it fun for themselves. We can hope that the developers continue working towards mechanics that allow for more success for the former then the later.
  8. As long as the game also provides at least some of the mechanics that real life provides for civilizations to deal with anti-social behaviors. Those who choose to work together in a civilized manner to build and create rather then hunt and destroy, need to be able to tag reputation and checkpoints so that a civilized planet's defenses can just blow you out of the sky if you bring your self-serving attitude into our space. In other words it's about balance. If the outer rim is dangerous for the civilized then civilized space must be dangerous for the deviants.
  9. Tyim here. Looking forward to seeing you, (and Lady K?) in game.
  10. Voxels were my reason too. When Landmark got pulled, I started looking for other MMOs that would let me build and create in the way I had enjoyed so much. The SciFi theme didn't hurt either. You can't take the sky from me.
  11. The very large team of lawyers and accountants that this would force NQ to have would probably be cost prohibitive. Game companies generally work very hard to have their in-game currency NOT be equated directly to real money so that it isn't subject to a countries finance laws. For instance, in the united states, you would have to track every transaction, require real-id of every player, report to the IRS and the fed every transaction over $10,000. You would also wind up having to to collect assorted different sales taxes in half the states depending on where the seller or the buyer lived in the real world. etc etc etc. Or, you would spend all your time in court trying to to prove why you didn't have to do those things. Then of course, you would also personally have to worry about your income tax. If you did well in game, and made say $100,000 you would be required to declare that as income, and pay roughly $30,000 in US income taxes if you lived there. If you lived in another country your tax rate might be higher or lower. But for sure NQ would be required to report to assorted countries the incomes of every player who lived in those countries. And then of course, there is the very real possibility of NQ being declared an international bank, and being subject to all sorts of laws about international trade rates and money laundering issues.
  12. drops till it collides with something (or it's possible full mechanical extension) would be a great feature of landing gear too.
  13. and therefore break international trade laws and should be punished for it.
  14. Yeah, you would think so, but there are an abundance of dense denizens.
  15. That depends very strongly on what one does with that information. If one discovers a game crashing bug or exploit, then they should document it and report it to the developers. If they USE it to act important or to harass other players and then claim they were "just making a point", they are going to get, quite justifiably, banned by any normal gaming company.
  16. this doesn't work with voxels. Because it is possible to make a negative mold of an item, then use that to construct a new 'totally owned' version of the same build. Thereby bypassing the protections. The only option worth anything is to allow two types of blueprints, one type can be modified and edited, just like it was your own. The other type can be tagged deploy only. A 'deploy only' blueprint creates an in world item that can not be modified or edited in any way. Folks can then decide on a blueprint by blueprint basis which way to sell stuff.
  17. I will say, watching this has given me far more hope that the game will achieve it's vision; and I was already optimistic. That makes this a really good promotional video. Well done.
  18. Agreed. and the watching the goodbye Landmark video again brought a tear to my eye. May this game continue...
