  1. Cheers! No foul play! Larking, messing, pratting, joking, playing...
  2. Just make ship hit box 3D silhouettes an actual thing... Job done. Cube maxes the hitbox.... svelte slivers of ships are much more difficult to hit. And limit weapon size to core size (or thereabouts).
  3. So it's going to me MUCH shorter to just dig out the ores, then.. Thanks... That's what I was trying to show... Excellent. Dude. I was having a lark and literally said so right in my post. But whatever, feel free to get testy, no one will stop you.
  4. JC said that every pure and product in the game would eventually have honeycomb... with pure coming first... So you would have stainless steel, ALFE and everything up to Titanium V alloy as a honeycomb eventually... IIRC, please someone correct me if I am wrong, in a very early alpha, duralumin was available as a honeycomb. Personally, I'm more put off by the complete lack of concrete/wood and carbon fibre skills... 3 products I love(d) to use in earlier alphas when they were still cheap to make.
  5. 130k tiles on Alioth. are you sure you get 500k average, I think it's closer to 300k... assuming they're all mineable, which they're not. Let's say 20k tiles cover the market districts and the ark. 110k x 300k = 33,000,000,000L of ore so about 30,000,000,000L of pure... With, say, 50k players, that's 600kL per person. 600kL.... per person... I've used more than that in aluminium already. A single L core 25cm (1voxel) wall takes 40,000L of material to make the honeycomb... So that's 15 floors of an L cube a single voxel thick and you have exhausted your share of an entire world's resources...
  6. JC also said it would take months to get to space. Let's be generous and say 2 months (minimum required to become plural). Actual time to space was, I believe somewhere in the order of 20 to 30 minutes for the first space goer. let's again be generous and say 30..... It should have taken (according to JC) 24 hours a day for 2 months of 30 days is 1440 hours to reach space... It took 1/2... That's a mistake factor of 2880 or nearly 3000... If we apply that level of JC-level-brokenness to ore consumption, we can say 1900 years / 2880 = 2/3 of a year or 8 months for a team of 1000 to mine out alloth completely... Yeah, I know I'm just having a lark, but still. this game is NOT going the way JC naïvely thought it would. He needs to pull not just one, but 2880 rabbits out of a very big hat to keep this game working as intended for as long as he intended, at this rate. --EDIT: Added an underline under the joking bit for clarity ?
  7. OK... I figured out what was wrong... It's not the containers that have to be levelled up, it's the container hub! You can level up the container hub and link it to vanilla containers and you get the beefed up weight reduction. If you have containers with L5 mass reduction linked to a vanilla hub, they lose the weight reduction "power"... Phew mystery solved.... Even if it is really counter intuitive.
  8. That's just a temporary band-aid... All planets will tend to zero at some point. Remember JC thought it would take a month to get to space from the get go... He also said the planet's resources would take "years and years" to exhaust. LOL And the game isn't even out of Beta. Far from building a civilisation, we will be like the bugs from Men in Black, going from planet to planet, strip mining it of resources within a few months and moving on... There will likely be no meaningful civilisation built... Seriously, what were we expecting? Roads, hospitals, cities of gleaming skyscrapers like in Star Citizen. No. we will get a bunch of swisscheese planets with half baked platform factories dotted on flat land, temporarily churning out goods and with just one or two places of frivolous, playful beauty spotted all too far between by the likes of ODY and Infinity. And when full PVP happens, the lack of materials will come even more acutely. We are living in a very short lived golden age of plenty, but within a year, without new planets to pillage and gut, there will be nothing left.
  9. I'm sorry, what does that mean? Lua gives the correct values also.. and the skill doesn't apply, or does?
  10. I thought this game was a 13+ Are you sure your mum knows you’re conversing with adults? I am cranky often, I know this. But as some have already said, it’s because we want this game to succeed. I have said on many occasions that this game is basically “digital crack.” It can be devilishly addictive at times.
  11. My character is skilling up in tank optimisation atm. Will test when I next play.
  12. So, if they are "not getting sympathy from the community dude," who are exactly are you arguing with? LOL. It's always fun reading when someone speaks for the whole community as if they have some innate connection to everyone's consciousness and feelings.
  13. I think that in the UK, causing someone's death accidentally without intention is technically manslaughter... even if engaged in illegal activity at the time (so long as the activity was not with the purpose to harm the individual who died). Though I remember that there was a case once where a boyfriend and girlfriend decided to die together by mutual poisoning. The woman made the poison and only the man died and it was deemed manslaughter even though she had "technically" killed him intentionally... I believe that with mitigating circumstances (extreme provocation, loss of mental control etc) such murder can be "downgraded" to manslaughter. IANAL, obviously.
  14. So someone using hover engines on an elevator boosting them into space? JC himself said that this was never envisioned and he saw the practice bringing those who did it great profits, since getting to space the "proper way" takes nearly 100x more fuel. Strictly, by the above definition you gave, they are exploiting the game. So clearly, some exploits are allowed and some aren't.... Used a system in an unintended fashion? check. Profited? check? gain advantage over others unaware of exploit? check... Seems pretty watertight case for punishment according to your statement. Now, that last statement is very interesting. I searched for "delete non-player assets" in the EULA and came up blank. but if it were in the EULA, then sure, they'd be caught. But remember, NQ have stated they won't punish retroactively... so... I hope you see that by defining something apparently watertight, you open the floodgates to other abuses.
  15. DMs don't get ignored, though... I have had several requests answered and full blown conversations with NQ staff initiated by DM... Moreover, we know that NQ are FAR MORE active with patch notes, news updates, announcements and DM engagement on Discord than they are on any other platform. So using platform as an excuse is bollocks. Now, it's possible that an NQ bod received the message while off duty / at home and never received it before the market was sacked... that's a bit of a grey area... To be completely painted white in this matter , they should have waited for a response before getting to work.
  16. In my opinion, broken components should AT LEAST lose their handling buffs and return to vanilla units when fixed from the RED state to 1hp. Maybe even with a permanent dynamic attribute that prevents them ever being used as anything but a vanilla asset.
  17. Naturalment. tried with "new" containers as will as the standard pick up and undo method.
  18. I have tested a ship with a full container... the mass of the ship seems to be calculated as 100% not 75% cargo mass.. Oh well, 1 month of wasted skills... I'm actually near burnout on this game and it hasn't even come out of beta yet. And this is coming from someone who plays Star Citizen. LOL.
  19. I have container optimisation at Level 5 which should reduce cargo mass by 25%... But I'm seeing 10.07t and 5.04kg for a for a static core and 1L of hematite respectively in my L5 "buffed" container and the engineer report showing 10.07t / 5.04kg respectively for the cargo... Does this skill actually work or is it doing an NQ?
  20. In the black screen issue you had did you still have a targetting reticle and the UI or was it a completely black screen?
  21. We just need volume sliders for each “effect” like many other games have.
  22. I'm really curious. Your OP was strongly worded, so could you explain in a bit more detail why you think this game is a steaming pile of shit? Also, how about randomly picking the "winners" of your two accounts... bits of paper in a hat, etc. Sure, I'll take one of those accounts off your hands if you're obliging...
  23. I know exactly how JC/NQ decisions work and what are thinking right now: they either may or may not wipe some or all aspects of progress... at some point in the near or far future.
  24. I have made 2 dozen or so different 1 man shuttles in my time. none of them dock easily on my main ship any more... it's not to say they don't dock at all, but unlike last month when docking was a dream and worked perfectly, now I have no confidence at all whether a ship is docked unless I move the host construct... And then, most of the times (95%+) the docking has failed. I did manage to dock a ship on Friday. but it took three attempts and was eventually docked diagonally and looked completely pants. NQ development mantra: 1 step forwards, 2 steps back for shits and giggles.
