  1. Welp. Now I've seen everything: We've had the scourge of the three year old necro threads reborn... We've had undying 30+ page vampire threads seemingly endlessly ongoing... Now, we have a plague of doppelgänger threads... ... almost identical copies of threads that have come before to drive us insane. People are far too willing to bandy about terms like "scam" and "liar" these days. Sometimes it's better just to accept that it may well be mere incompetence rather than actual honest-to-goodness malice.
  2. For someone with a whole two posts under their belt, that some heavy-hitting hyperbole you're using there. "Insane amount of exploits..." -- There were probably half a dozen that had any lasting impact. Some directly lead to comments by NQ not to exploit or face consequences... like the unlimited range container bug and the Market Place 15 disassembly leading to players being banned... Though I believe the exact exploit you're likely talking about were the 1ℏ blueprints (slight exaggeration)... IIRC Someone bought a dozen or so warp beacon, AGG and Warp drive bloops and auctioned them off at half the market rate or something and got billions of ℏ in a few days. Sure that's unfair, but I don't know if he or she still even plays any more. The solar system is too big as it is, the chance of him or her ruining my game is minimal to non-existent. "B: Wipe and massively expand the player base." -- And your source for this sweet summer nugget is? Sorry, sounds like a case of FIMO (Fear I Missed Out).
  3. I always thought P2W meant paying for something that was unavailable in game, like special weapons or armor which can only be got by payments. I understand the concept that having two accounts brings with it advantages, but I don’t think that is P2W as such. if that were the case then we could also define P2W to include anyone who has paid a year of subs and queued up their skills diligently as they will have an advantage over a noob since they’ve paid for 12 months of XP. That’s obviously not P2W but money paid has created an actual, tangible advantage. Of course people are free to mean anything they want when they say something: like the word theory being mixed up with hypothesis in the context of the existence of gravity by flat earthers. But using proprietary definitions just muddies the waters and detracts from the communication.
  4. NGL you had me there for a minute... I was all ready to write an angry rebuttal... until I actually read the post. LOL. Big fan of Josh's stuff... Love his no nonsense discussion and cute mugs.
  5. Fecking PvP centered changes again. Why does everything have to revolve around and get shat on because of PvP?
  6. Why bother? Years ago people (me included) were asking l for the “missing” XS space fuel tank to be implemented. never came. if such a simple item couldn’t even be implemented in three years, I doubt there’s any room for any actual features that require actual programming.
  7. That’s why I stopped playing again. Absolutely no point playing a beta… 1) … that is giving to get wiped: waste of time rebuilding. 2) … that is going to change all the rules and how to play: waste of time relearning. there is basically zero value to the game now until it can be guaranteed.
  8. For me it’s kinda the game I used to play.
  9. I pay rent in real life. Paying rent in a game, too is anathema. since we don’t need apartments or anything I don’t even have one since DU tore the world down at the end of their “alpha”. apartments are cute and all but completely pointless.
  10. I think they also have to define use.
  11. Not entirely sure if you’re asking me or asking in general, or even entirely sure what you mean.
  12. You should try Elite Dangerous. Half of that game is still placeholder after nearly 10 years.
  13. I think much of the talent tree was generated generically without much actually consideration as to why. the more skills we have in the tree, the longer players are “locked in” to skill up. And it’s current implementation was likely another placeholder that became permanent. For example, creating new talents that merely shift a factor’s value within the game is super easy and ironically doesn’t require much talent to introduce so they do that everywhere they can, possibly using a generic formula. when automated approaches are used, some aspects can often cease to make sense, like there is even a skill to increase bed and washbasin hitpoints by something like 2% per level or something. creating brand new skills that have actual mechanics like unlocking assets or making new mechanics available on the other hand requires more manual effort which is why the vast majority of the skills are merely magnifiers. this is of course purely speculation on my part.
  14. TMA? This is my surprised face 👉 😶 Funny how this dude’s name always seems to pop up from time to time. he still around? another thread bound for nowhere pleasant.
  15. Lua is coming... You will be able to use a screen or RGB light to indicate the status. But yes, a simple light, like we have on the factory elements might be nice. My MUs stop spinning if the output container is full, but not if they've reached 0%.
  16. Dedicated Network Card??? O_O There's a lot that goes into building a bespoke PC and there are tons of jargon.... power supply ratings, graphics card capabilities, CPU socket types, memory standards, storage types and form factors. Ethernet wiring quality and Wireless standards, cooling solutions. Heck, even case ventilation raises questions if you're going to be playing a game as unoptimised as DU. If any of the above raise questions, you might want to hold off building until you understand the above concepts, at least at a basic enough level not to get something wrong or even just waste money being upsold on unnecessary purchases... If I were you I would start by watching some YouTube to get your foot in the door. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=building+a+pc+for+beginners Most of these videos will be too old to be relevant right now (anything 2020 or earlier) so you'll also need to go to a site like Anandtech or Tom's Hardware and find their latest recommendations for "builds." They have various categories ... Under $600, under $1000, mid range and ultimate.... for example. If you already have the basics (You're a Computer Science Teacher after all) it shouldn't take you long before you're up to speed. As for the memory speed question. It depends whether or not your motherboard supports XMP profiles or allows for custom timings. There's a lot of variables in your question and not enough information. Good luck.
  17. not entirely sure what IRL 40 year old hovercraft discussion has to do with this game, but… If you’re not sure how to build something properly, the problem is not the game. What actually is this “stupid flying hovercraft garbage” you’re on about? Seriously, you sound frustrated about something that really literally ISNT rocket science. I don’t have years of military training IRL and have only played MSFS 2020 and DCS which are supposedly fairly realistic so can’t say I’m as experienced as you but I have built craft in this game that I can say are totally OP and unrealistic like something from a space anime. They can fly as though they’re on rails even at >1000kph and can yaw or roll a full 360 degrees in about two or so seconds without notable drift, far beyond any IRL craft would be capable of since it would have turning G forces of well over 20G and kill the pilot instantly. Certainly not “flying hovercraft garbage” One thing I will say that is garbage, though, is the ships on sale at the UEE store or whatever it’s called: many are terrible. I think most if not all were player built from an earlier stage in the game’s history. Many don’t really fly at all and need adjusting. Much better to watch a few YouTube videos and build your own. It will take a few days to get up to speed but it will be much more rewarding. You are angrily claiming the game is bad but it’s more likely your design is making some noob tier mistakes like creating a craft without any vertically mounted stabilizers or airfoils or you ignored the advice in previous posts (right click on the pilot’s seat and set your craft as an “Default airborne vehicle” rather than hover vehicle and didn’t change the control method to mouse or joystick simulation by right clicking on the pilots chair and selecting control method. At least post a screenshot of your ship or short YouTube of the issue you’re having. then we might be able to help you better. if you don’t want to post your creation on here there are YouTube videos on building a working ship and a discord server with people honestly willing to help. In fact I’d go so far as to say the ship building and flight mechanics are about the only part of the game that is fleshed out properly and highly satisfying. some aspects of this game could arguably be called garbage without too many people disagreeing but the Newtonian mechanics and very much simplified yet still slightly challenging aerodynamics are pretty decent IMO. Work smarter, not harder… let us help you.
  18. FWIW, OP, I’m playing this game on a fresh install of W11 smooth as silk so not entirely sure why he mentioned it MUST be Windows 10. I have had to delete the game directory and a couple of directories under appdata local or something once after a botched download. But that same download failed simultaneously on my second box which is Windows 10, too so it was t an OS issue. this game installs some Microsoft runtime libraries, IIRC.
  19. Has something changed performance wise in a recent patch? After seeing a post above about 1080ti I thought I would try my old PC again for the first time in six months or so. It’s a 1080ti:4770k/32gb with SSD and I remeber pegging the CPU a year or two back… making my whole PC heat up a bit but playing today, the cpu was idling at 10-20% and this time it was the GPU was pegged at 100% and giving me only 10 or so fps and 300+ms rendering delay at 1920x1200 with everything set to low. I used to easily get 20-30fps even at our built up base. this game used to be playable on that machine at those setting and I was about to say I had no problems playing the game. but I fear my info might be out of date. Have they changed something? my main machine runs as smooth as ever.
  20. Excellent. We’ve managed to dig out most of Nova X and been redoing all the RDMS again, too. But not much activity on our end, either.
  21. In windows can you map a folder to /dev/null?
  22. MTI base is still half buried. And the “roads” leading to Madis MP3 from NovaX side were destroyed by Aphelia in the purge. Very little activity here ATM.
