  1. When (if?) planets starts rotating as planned, getting in and out of atmosphere is going to be much more interesting.
  2. The trick is to keep engines running when you enter atmosphere to maintain forward momentum, while at the same time braking to avoid burning up. Doing this you will have a much easier time 'catching air' and getting wing lift since you are not coming in straight down like a rock.
  3. The 'perfect' DU in my eyes would be if they somehow managed to smash KSP, Minecraft, Space Engineers, Second Life and EVE into one coherent game.
  4. This is one of the long standing issues with DU. It used to be even worse before the public 'beta' release (mesh server optimization was introduced), so you can imagine how it was in pre-beta..
  5. So it is basically the standard 9.8N equation plus some overhead?
  6. Scrolling the tags list you will find the "Default:Share:All" tag that used to be available in the right click menu, so they have just hidden it to prevent people from accidentally sharing critical elements like cores etc. The main problem here is server lag causing the element tag change to not propagate to other players. Spamming the refresh tags function seem to make the sync happen faster.
  7. I haven't tired of building yet, especially when you throw scripting into the mix. But every voxel, element or liter of fuel I use, means I am also one step closer to having to go out and mine again. And that I am definitively more then a little bored of.
  8. Rockets in NQ is the engine equivalent of cement being T2 while carbon and iron materials are T1. The basic principle for a rocket egnine is orders of magnitude simpler then for example a jet engine, and orders of orders magnitude simpler then the fictional space engines in DU.
  9. That.. I got mega nodes waiting to be cleaned out, but I just cant any more. Just the thought of the 'collecting ore' process removes any hint of creativity or will to join the game.
  10. You could try online vectorization sites like https://www.vectorization.org/ https://www.vectorizer.io/ etc.
  11. Exactly. There is a limit to how many times you will bother reporting bugs and sometimes OBVIOUS design problems, when years later nothing has happened or design was implemented with all the problems we already pointed out beforehand. And then we have to watch NQ scramble to make quick fixes that only address the symptoms and not the actual cause.
  12. Atmos radar is also used around markets to avoid crashing into 1 voxel wide space towers.
  13. Right now this moment Ryzen 5000 (Zen 3) CPU and Nvidia 3000 series GPU is the obvious choice. But AMD is just about to release their next generation GPU's so I would put the GPU upgrade on hold until the dust settles (if nothing else there is a chance Nvidia prices will go down, if AMD is able to deliver competitive GPU's). But Ryzen 5600X and 5xx mobo looks like a safe bet.
  14. @NQ-Naunet This is off to a good start. You have already communicated more in this thread, then most NQ staff has ever done in the forums in total.. Is there a reason why NQ is mostly using discord to post information? In my opinion a forum is a much better medium when it comes to organizing information and staying up to date with the latest news.
  15. For single chair nope, not without going into build mode and re-link. Alternatively you can set up two chairs and swap during flight (provided your design allows leaving the seat in-flight), but it is not ideal to put it mildly. <sarcasm>You see this game is all about community, so flying with essential radar functionality should obviously require at least two players."</sarcasm>
  16. They all look like ghost towns now, compared to earlier.. NQ pretty much killed the biggest community gathering in the game.
  17. <selected install location>\Dual Universe\Game\data\lua\autoconf\custom This is the only script location you can edit locally without getting flagged as a cheater. The rest you can look at for reference, but not change (unless there is a bug).
  18. Nobody is arguing against how badly PvP is currently implemented. NQ even said so themselves in the initial release statement, calling it an 'early draft' or something to that effect. And all planets being safe is kinda obvious since atmospheric/planet/territory warfare hasn't been implemented yet. But the moment you start talking about how PvP needs to be given special privilege with certain metals limited to PvP zones / safe zone restricted to sanctuary only etc, then you are putting PvP on a pedestal above other types of gameplay. But I am also not blind to how that would lead to interesting game play with risk vs. reward so it is not 100% cut and dry.
  19. And that is totally fine. But have you noticed that while 'carebears' are generally fine with there being PvP in the game, PVP'ers are the ones loudly complaining about safe zones.
  20. The problem with 'carebear' is that it is a derogatory term, and forcing people to PvP is just as disrespectful if not more so.
  21. He could also be chasing a ghost ore, happened to me many times. Ore shows up on scanner, but all you find is a empty hole where someone else has mined it out and suddenly it no longer shows in the scanner.
  22. That is not what I meant. I was just putting all the factors into one sentence. Slim (smaller hit chance and radar profile), lightweight for acceleration and maneuverability etc. The inertia matrix shown in the build tools, would suggest that maneuverability is already affected by where the CoM is. But the calculation of the CoM positon leaves much to be desired, and as far as I know there is no proper mass distribution in constructs.
  23. I agree that the game needs both PvE and PvP. But at the same time, you know that a game like DU is about more then just Pv-something right?
  24. .. and the huge stinking pile of technical debt just keeps growing. The problem with not fixing issues at the core of the game as early as possible, is that they get harder and harder to fix with time as you pile more and more functionality on top.
