So i was thinking about pets and AI in the game a while back, but more along the lines of a ship's computer, or KITT from Knight Rider, or Tony Stark's digital butler guy in the Iron Man movies.
It would be pretty cool to be able to add a component to a construct that gave it a limited npc AI. I'm not talking about automating it, i know we'll be able to do that to an extent with scripting. I just mean some kind of interactive voice type thing. Something to add a bit of personality to your home or ship.
Maybe a few voices to choose from.
I'd love something like that. Something to greet me when I get home from a long and threacherous journey, or even when I'm about to embark on one.

COPS was formed by people who enjoy their freedom but recognise the need to work together for strength, security and a sense of brotherhood/sisterhood. All in all, it's meant to be good fun.
Not wanting to be bring up my obsession with vocabulistics, but the neutral term for brotherhood/sisterhood is Kinship. >_>
Kinship is a good word, thank you. Much more succinct.

No decisions were made in Landmark. Yes we have some prolific Landmark builders amongst us, but surprisingly some of us butted horns a little in Landmark, yet find friendship and newly forming bonds here in Dual. I'm very happy about that, and makes me feel pretty excited.

is this the kind of situation : The Only Rule is There are no Rules? >_>
Do you mind not spamming the thread?
-
Out of curiosity, is there a list of your rules?
The rules are flexible.
-
We make our own laws and our decide our own rules. I won't be playing by your rules. I, for one, will be playing by my own.
That's the essence of a free spirit. We break away from the 'mould' and forge our own path.

Well the old seafaring pirates of old are long gone. We're not that kind of pirate, and that language is (thankfully) long gone. We're a less rum-strewn bunch.
We're the future or present, as it were, freedom fighters.
See Harlock: Space Pirate for reference as to how we might be in-game.

Greetings fellow COPS mates! As Captain Kiklix here said, we're an umbrella organisation with smaller ones within, such as my Astrum Enterprises. I'm a free spirit, but I also like a good tight-knit group of friends who love to build, explore, and make the most of their gaming experience, who you can rely on for friendly comradeship in times of need.

The problem is the game engine. I'm not familiar with Unigine 2 at all. Don't know its default capabilities or what kind of shaders the dev team has worked into the engine. Although kind of taxing to put such lights in a place, I am not stranger to cutting light altogether in the batcave, only letting some lightlines on the floor to guide the way.
Yeah even a little bit would be nice, even if just in light elements.

I explained it on the original post Set up a checkpoint on the city entrance, having a force field covering the sky above and around. Then force people for an inventory inspection. No civil forfeiture bullshit here, you just go away and go store the gun on your spaceship and come back later, or go to one of the banks established outside the city to store your guns there in a terminal or something, then come back into the city later, after the inspection of course. It's so emergent gameplay, that I'm gonna explode if the Alpha is not out on schedule >
It might be possible, I think it should be possible to have a secret compartment (earned or somehow crafted) in which to store a couple of things other people can't see. Though it would foil your sky force field. Other than that, I'm sure we'll be able to set our own terms on our bases and city locations to some degree, I just wonder how much control we will have over other people's civic behaviours.

Well, JC Baillie spoke of politics. I'm tots down for working for a military dictatorship. No, guns, allowed. And having to smuggle a gun into a city is the quintessential thing that will distinguish a good assasin from a bad one. Unless they add karate chops in the melee combat and cybernetics. Then we will also ban cyborgs as well, because, why not, let's go full Best Korea on our turf xD
Politics or military dictatorship aside, not many people will forgo their weaponry, probably hard-won, or crafted with much needed materials, and leave them aside to enter. Unless you've got some sort of weapon-detecting technology, it'll be difficult to enforce.
It's my belief in the darkness of space, and alien-strangeness of newly discovered planets, politics will come in the shape of guns, ships and defenses, and military dictatorships will be too busy warring for resources and fame and fortune to worry about enforcing security gates in case of gun-carrying rogues.
That said, anything is possible at this point in time, it's all speculation

I'm all for inventory inspection, but not for this kind of scenario. If someone walks into your city, or base etc, and you made clear, either via signpost, announcement, or other means of communication, that no weapons are allowed, and people still walk in armed, and fighting ensues, then you deal with the offenders. That's where part of the fun will be, dealing with the rule-breakers. I don't mean griefers either, and I'm not saying that because I'm in a pirate/smuggler based organization (we're good, freedom-loving pirates) but simply because space is a hard, cold place .

I wonder if glowing textures will emanate light, cause I'm tots into creating atmospheric dark stations with only screens and holotables lighting the thing up. Tis' gonna be a beautiful. Tis' gonna be my Batcave. >_>
Would be cool if so. One of The Sims games (I know, totally unrelated to DU) had TV screens that gave off light. Is such a small thing, yet I missed it when later Sims games didn't have that. Being able to have a dark room, or ship interior, only lit up by the equipment/decorative items inside would be very atmospheric.

@Tierless
OR , take for example Planetside 2. 74 skins in 3 months, all of them LOOK, EXACTLY, THE SAME. Cheaters run rampart because of F2P bullshit and of course, lack of content. I will take subscription over anything if it means the game will have content and will deter trolls from hopping in and ruining peoples' fun.
Exactly, I really think subscription helps to maintain the integrity of the playerbase, as well as that of the developers/financers.

lol that's true Dygz. Mr Kiklix here already made his holotable way back
As for the Dual Holotable, when I see things that look good like that, I always hope deep down it will be a useable/functional object, but I can understand not everything can have a function and will be for decorative purposes. There'll no doubt be tons of other things keeping us busy.

An underground / in-ground city would be very cool. I know of at least one person in my guild who loves building into mountains and hollowing them out to make bases/houses within.
When done well it looks extremely good, not to mention good defensive capability.

I would like food to be a requirement as it is a whole industry and there will always be demand for it. Woodcutting and the others will be done with the nanoformer/forge as its done in the lore that way as i remember but it is there. It also adds a whole new strategic target for war as if they have no way to grow food they can not fight.
Got to admit I love food mechanics, especially if intuitive and it feels complimentary to gameplay, rather than a hindrance. Obvious example being Minecraft as most people know.
I also would be up for Woodcutting and other skills, all those beautiful trees hopefully have a purpose too other than looking pretty .
I hope DU offers an array of skillsets for different types of people.

Welcome Neo Prime, you have a cool name
I think I would have tried No Man's Sky by now if not for the single player aspect, would love to have tried it with a buddy along for the ride. Who knows I may try it for experience at some point.
