I grew up in South Korea, so of course the first "real" game that I was introduced to was Starcraft. I remember obessing over it but never actually playing it... I was like 8 at the time though. So, in order, here we go. Starcraft Minecraft (2012) Starcraft II (2012) LigmaBlox (yes I know..., 2014) I also was introduced to Steam around 2014. I played and hopped around various F2P games such as Robocraft, TF2, and Planetside II, though I never seriously got into them. I also was introduced to Kerbal Space Program around that time (late 2015), which basically was the dream game for me as a space nerd. It also was around this time I seriously started gaming, with League of Legends, War Thunder, and Counterstrike. And the rest is history...- 25 replies

Are "neutrality orgs" really neutral? After looking at some of them they feel more like their own political faction rather then a group committed to neutrality. While it can be argued that not taking a side is taking a side in and of itself, the term "neutrality orgs" becomes a misnomer. Abother facor impacting the orgs in question is given the general community's stance on in-game unsanctioned hostilities, these orgs may be forced to become military alliances against their wishes.

I mean small asteroids should be movable imo. Even NASA was planning to do that (until their budget for the program got cut because Congress but lets not get into politics). I'm talking about sub-100 meter asteroids though we could go bigger using things like mass drivers (irl).

More then a year ago, me and some other members of the community including @yamamushi made an organization committed to push the limits of Dual Universe, formerly known as Hyper Endeavor Foundation. However, nothing really much happened. School started and the DU hype train has slowed down considerably with the NDA still in place. But fear not, as I am still alive! Looking back, I thought HEF sounded kinda cringy so I rebranded the organization. Now, we are ready for re-launch! Community Page Discord Server

Question about ship element mobility

Couldn't they just have only the start and end states have coliders but render the entire animation? -
Long term prospects for handheld support
0something0 replied to BandaTalk's topic in General Discussions
Speaking of GeForce now, there already are game streaming services such as Liquidsky, or DYI apps such as Steam Link(if the game gets Steam support) or Moonlight . -
Any ETA on when the NDA will be Lifted

"Auto-Turrets" and Artificial Intelligence in games
0something0 replied to Ripper's topic in Idea Box
On the other hand, NQ has established that they want the game (universe, not the development) to be steered by players and will be taking a more of "hands-off" approach to policing the game. But if you want to form the Butlerian Jihad, then go ahead... -

While bugs and exploits shoulf be patched, perfectly legitimate code (even though the definition of "legitimate" in DU is hazy) should not be stopped even if it allows for automation. Remember: automation != the plague -

So limiting emergent gameplay and potentially breaking thousands of scripts? -
I mean, gravity is just acceleration so antigravity is simply accelerating the other way. So just pump more power into the antigrav generators and suddenly rockets are obsolete!

I wonder if there will be a market for bulk orders dirt, stone, etc. for say, filling in a mountain.
-
There could be decouplers for drop tanks for fighter, or staged rockets made using tech early in the tech tree for increased mass ratio, or airdropped supply kits.

I mean, its an extreme scenario to illustrate a point .

"Yo our base is under attack! Get on!" "Okay. I got the notification. Let me turn on the pc." *Windows is updating. 0/25* "S**t! I should have gotten that SSD when it was on sale" 20 minutes later.. *Dual Universe is updating . 0/8192 MB* "Screw this game" EDIT: this is an extreme case to illustrate my point. The point is that rapid response is important and the person with faster loading shouldn't get an advantage like how people with faster internet shouldn't get and advantage .

The Only Down Side I See, The AI

Manufacture- I believe there are expansive machines capeable of producing stuff automatically. Defend- Automated base defense turrets are being looked into. Alternatively, you can build in safezones. Complete Tasks- Lua scripting with extensive(but not all-powerful) features are planned with things like wireless networking, interacting with elements, and moving from a to b. -

Monopolies are bad and irl we have antitrust/competition laws to ensure that the market stays competitive. In DU however, it seems that companies will be their own nations, so there needs to be a game mechanic to prevent monopolies from controlling the game. Whats the point of playing the game if you know you are going to get squashed like a fly by the big guys? -

It keeps the market competitive and prevents large organizations from getting complacent. -

To be fair, it should be fairly easy to disrupt an industry to keep large, established orgs on their toes and to keep things from getting stagnant. -
There is a difference between realism and nitpicking....

I just realized, if I can get the mods to lock this thread and I post just before they lock it, I win!

It also depends on the weapons available and the medium that combat happens in. If NQ decides to implement the more realistic Newtonian motion in space, then dogfights as we know it probably will not become a thing outside of atmospheres. If air-to-air guided missiles are common, dogfighting will be almost nonexistent like irl, and I see no reason why humanity would have reverted to WWII-era combat style after 500 years of technological advancement.
