While it is a Universal truth that no two people are exactly alike, can we say the same about gamers?

From the variety of organisations already active in Dual Universe, there's no shortage of role play, activity or feud.

Thankfully, the Dual Universe Community is a bit forgiving to erring organisations, but when it comes to play styles...there's no shortage of judges, juries or (coming this Alpha) executioners.

Let's be honest here, we all need the ugly truth about play styles shoved down our collective throats, no?

@Lethys did us the favour and wrote an informing article about play styles.

Minus the cute pictures of toddlers and their visible opinions on style, Lethys article is as interesting as it serious.

In the words of the Boobian:

    Quote

Get off your lazy ass and dive into a new world full of wonderful and exciting places.

Enough said. Read up here and find your own playstyle: Playstyles in a Sandbox. (Hint: it's something that works.)

Zebra is diving back into <read> mode.

    Cheers.

  2. " Since our dear Zebra is an AI:

    History == log_file.txt;

    (Sadly)

However, her algorithms were kind enough to spare you from an exhaustive history lesson on her log files in binary languages.

Instead, Kurock and Zebra spent quite a while compiling the log files in line with ASCII, and even more hours making sure you understand what's being said.

In the spirit of all games that concern virtual or realistic Thrones, here's a mild and public overview of the Dual Universe's very own Great Game.

I offered them to be moderators in /r/DualUniverse. But they refused since they wanted full ownership of the subreddit. I said we would work together, but they did not trust me and insisted on one of them getting the full rights on the subreddit. If they want to help the subreddit so much, why can't they help without having full admin rights?

Also to all those sending me hateful PMs, you're wasting your time since I'm no longer a mod there so I can't give it away anymore, so perhaps figure out more productive stuff to do with your time instead of spending it all on those long hatemails.

    "

I wish you a wonderful day, AidenAiden.

You and I both know why - you stated it yourself: they did not trust you.

It's not enough to distance yourself from the current mods. There is no 'them', there is an 'us'. While I won't go prying into details of why you are no longer a mod, I suggest you do try to be the nice guy in the equation here and reach out to both sides.

They do want to help the subreddit so much, that is why they (not one person, mind you) request full admin rights. I won't push the blame entirely to you: neither side trusts the other here, and unless one side is willing to give a bow first, this is going nowhere. We can keep this merry go round spinning or we can hit the nail on the head. If you do want to help, like I suppose you do, kindly try to get the current mods to the table and let's discuss this thing like the adults we are. No drama, no emotions, no blown up pride.

I see no reason why both sides can't resolve this peaceably. Exactly why are the full admin rights a problem? Do they creators of the sub-reddit fear that they could get kicked? I highly doubt that. How many of the mods are there in comparison to the number of people we want to add to the roster? We aren't bringing an army to the throne room here. Open the door for a couple or so mods, and leave the door open for mods with lesser rights. That isn't so difficult.

The fact is simple: someone/some people in some place, want complete control of something too large to handle alone. Until that is fixed, we can keep spinning and dancing in circles round the problem.

The request remains the same as the reply above: open up the Reddit.

    Cheers.

Nothing is stopping anybody from participating in r/DualUniverse

I wish you a wonderful day, AidenAiden.

I like that comment. It says a lot. Now, can we say the same thing the other way round: is anything stopping people from participating in r/dualthegame? The answer is a clear 'yes'. Freedom works both ways, let's keep it that way.

I don't know what kind of moderators there are in r/DualUniverse, but the very fact that they continue to cling onto r/DualUniverse - and that without being active on the Dual Universe Forums, tells me a lot. What kind of subsidiary company strikes its own path, disregarding the big picture? None: the leadership of such a company would be removed. In the case of Reddit, NQ clearly doesn't want to get involved, and I support that action. While I would be very inclined to follow the rule of Omerta, this case is something best dealt with publicly and with sufficient pressure - seeing as the mods have no interest in listening to the actual community.

Again, there's nothing wrong with r/DualUniverse

Everyone should go there and have a look around for themselves.

The only issue with potential to hurt the community is the pointless constant subreddit drama that's being repeatedly instigated  by a small group of people.

I'm no longer a mod at r/DualUniverse but I still care about the community and the game and I hope to see everybody being active in the subreddit with helpful topics and discussions rather then try to stir drama.

    3

For once, I must state that I thought the drama about the Reddit was overrated. Your comments above prove me wrong. It is irrelevant who those mods are; if they truly did care about the big picture here: the success and positive publicity of Dual Universe, they would cease this nonsense immediately. As they haven't, we can only assume that they have their ulterior motives.

Above, you stated that you are no longer a mod. Very interesting. So, AidenAiden, what did you do to resolve this issue while you were a mod, other than clamping down on any mention of r/dualthegame? (something the previous mods are doing quite efficiently. Peculiar, isn't it?) So far, you haven't convinced anyone here that r/DualUniverse is the better option, other than having the 'Dual Universe' name. Kindly stop this rhetoric about this drama and that drama. It takes two to tango, and so far, you're quite the dancer in here.

A small group of people are instigating this drama? How many people provided the game in the first place? The entire population of Paris? You make me laugh! Firstly, the potential to hurt the community isn't this - it isn't even close. Secondly, the fact that you made that statement shows either of two things - or even both:

    1. You clearly don't know this community.
    2. You are being the Drama King here.

Seeing as you are the de facto public speaker for the mods, I suggest you spend more time with this community and you'll learn a few things. We don't bite that often, but when you have these many people of the same opinion, your side should do the smart thing and discuss. So far, there hasn't been much progress in that direction, has there? Stormy seas, I get it.

Everyone should go there and have a look around for themselves.  Thank you, I did that. You know what would be better? Having both the current mods and actual members from this side of the Dual Universe Community work together on it. Two heads are better than one, and a three fold cord isn't easily broken. Sounds good for the greater Dual Universe Community, no? Obviously, to the mods, it doesn't.

The Dual Universe Community has spoken: open up r/DualUniverse and grant more power to the those actively participating in Dual Universe, or give it over completely. As every other means of diplomacy has clearly failed, I see no other reason to pay attention to these mods, whoever they are. With time, we'll see which sub-Reddit takes the trophy home.

In the meantime, vox populi, vox Dei: if you want the Dual Universe Reddit to be actually useful and you want the community in harmony over this issue, do your part in convincing the mods to bring in more of the active members of Dual Universe, or watch in silence if you can't. Defending them over what cannot and should not be justified is - quite frankly - shallow.

Once again, I wish you a wonderful day.

    Cheers.

    Hello, everyone.

We currently have two free advert spaces on Outpost Zebra. The previous ones have exhausted their two week validity and have been taken down today. The owners of the advert spaces were contacted approximately 24 hours prior to their advert expiration.

Kindly get in contact with the usual group (Falstaf, Epidemic, Kael, Adamantine or me) to advertise your organisation on Outpost Zebra. We are still open and very alive: user articles, news and content are much welcome to the Outpost.

    Cheers.

Clicking the Home Button (linked below), takes us to the Homepage, while making it appear as if we are logged out. On clicking any of the links within the Forum, the bug is cleared - only to return again when you click the Home button once more. Thanks for looking into this (I pity your hectic next few hours, Nyz!).

*Edit: the Dual Universe logo at the top left is giving the same issue, it seems.

    Cheers.

Please report any bug you encounter.
We are looking into it for signature display.

@_mefsh_: This is not a bug. If you already changed your display name once, you can't do it anymore.

    Best Regards,
    Nyzaltar.

"I have not changed my name, yet. But, I can't find the option yet. Is this a bug too, or will the option be added in the future?"

Hehe. Easy there, good sir. I could not find an option for changing the name, yet (I am really considering something more original than a Greek deity). Bit by bit, all the pieces will fall into place.

You can have a "Cover Photo" now in your Profile (at least I think it's new). But on trying to upload one I got a 502 Error and had to delete all Site Storage on Chrome and also completely restart Chrome before the Error went away.

"That issue's been fixed as well, I believe. I uploaded, repositioned and removed cover photos.

Well, as of writing, that has been resolved. The forceful refresh on clicking the home button is still there, though.

Is this what Alpha will be like: a "cat and mouse" experience of hunting bugs and errors? If it is, I can barely wait to get started.

    Cheers.

So what happened to are signatures?

    "

There's no option for that in the "Profile" section, yet.

I think they'll be releasing the cosmetic things later. For now, I think we are all glad we have our Forums back.

    Cheers.

    Hello.

Outpost Zebra is still active, and spaces for adverts are still open. For the next batch, we have two more ad spaces free and we're currently taking requests. Despite the silence, there is no shortage of content: the brains behind the site needed to update and patch certain aspects of the sites for a smoother user experience - little bugs here and there. As a matter of fact, there is a new article up today - not by me, or Falstaf, or ATMLVE, but by BenFargo: a notable member of the Community that I'm very sure you have heard of at least once.

Feel free to read and comment here

    Cheers.

  13. Awesome! This will really help some people out

    "Thank you very much, Lord_Void!"

Why didn't you tell me of this before I went through all of that work myself? :P

    "

It is never too late to get a new logo! However, I'm sure that the experience you gained making the logo isn't wasted. If you need a content pack, I'm more than willing to provide.

    Cheers.

While I'll be taking a break from writing lore, I have decided to employ what tiny spare time I have left on something else.

We've seen a lot of organisations spring up in the last few months and a lot of them are in need of a good logo, signature, banner and perhaps some text to give the organisation in question some solid footing.

This is something I'll be doing personally: sans Aether, TRANCE, or Outpost Zebra.

What does the Premium Content Pack contain?

A tailored Photoshop logo for your organisation - mostly created from scratch. It will be unique and I assure you, you won't find it anywhere else on the internet.

A signature image. All the cool organisations have it (mine included), why not yours?

A profile image (mostly a combination of the logo or something else within my power). Some organisation leaders love their organisations so much, they take it upon themselves to carry the face of the organisation everywhere. Besides, it is a perfect idea for an army of identical alts.

A banner or an Ad artwork. A few organisations have websites of their own and we all know every organisation with a website has a banner that goes along with it. So, if you are in need of a 1024px or greater banner, that's included as well.

Some background lore text. I love writing and I couldn't resist the temptation to include this in here. Granted: I will not be writing a book for your organisation. Rather, it is some text of your choosing and setting that gives your organisation a lot more life than a basic description and a picture. No great nation is without a history.

You get five different items in a single pack and all of them are tailored to your demands. Sounds good, no?

Talk to me via DM, or leave a request below and I'll get back to you. I have a busy schedule, but if there's the need to make time, I have my ways.

    Cheers.

P.S. Kindly note that I am not competing with anyone to make logos. It's an idea I had a few weeks back but, lacked the right opportunity to make a solid offer. If you do make logos or work with Photoshop and you'd like us to work together, I'm more than open to collaboration. I've made logos for other organisations and most of the Aether artworks are products of my spare time and Photoshop skill. I'll be doing some more Photoshop works for the Aether and I think this a perfect opportunity to do more with less time.
