  1. Until now i only used the DSAT once in stage "one" - and stage "two" told me to scan again when in 10km range of that asteroid ¿? Apart of that, known boulders can be harvested - that I knew. But scanning new ones was the new Gameplay to me I wanted to try out. I probably misunderstood the mechanics if you say there is no scanner in PVP area needed any longer. I apologize and will have closer look.
  2. I see you're not focused on your personal need/loss whatever. You have just valid concerns about a functional fair and healthy game. Thats honorable. With all my respect @le_souriceau I'm probably to much egoistic about the time I could loose, I admit. The evolution of DU was not optimal. Many things could have been avoided. On the other hand NQ could never identify them all without a cristal ball.
  3. this is true my friend, and its a sum everyone can invest if he wants the glossy ore out there ! ... but you missed something - you need an Asteroid scanner and *uuuppps* it costs 10 times of what your 3kk vessel costs if you catch miner, blow em up, take their ship and sell the DSAT on the marked, you will be a very wealthy guy very quickly until the FUBAR-ones don't like to loose their 30-40 Millions ships to the PVP Gameplay constantly. Even though - I fully understand the PVP guys. They didn't play that much but screaming for PVP. Its now time for them to jerk off. I'm glad for them. I just hope for a good balance and with this I hope for good ideas. And I'm optimistic there because only the optimum can survive in the gaming sector. If there is just PVP left in the game its like Africa with only lions. And the previous chickens (all eaten up by the lions) play the next Landwirtschaftssimulator. :P
  4. 1) yes 2) no, but its also not realistic with the huge advert campaign 3) it still can be because of its unique character 4) no* 5) yes, they like to have the same cards * there is a unknown number of gamers being hocked by such games (space games in general) - but those who are fancy for space/build/survive games and are ready to play 3h a day already have an idea about DU (and SpaceEngineers and Empyrion and StarCitizen and whatnot). My guess is that 50-70% of those potential players already did something in DU. The playerbase will not tripple on release, not even double. Plus many of those newcomers will not be hooked in the same extend as the vets. At the end you probably have a tiny win on subs but I honestly dont guess so. Some of the newcomers finally quit as well and we're there again but without what we ever did before. All the new casual players will not be there for long because the game demands more then a casual player. Release will be critical in both ways, getting new players vs loosing old ones. Friends of mine made nice buildings and vessels and can take them into the wiped env. via BP. There is not a big loss on their side. They not even loose their Pixelsalad-Librarys. I was more the one for the crafting and eventually ran for ore hardly to build all the parts and later on gaining money for the schematics. There must be a well thought workaround to attract new ppl and keep the vets. There is no question. A wipe in my case will kill at least ~800h for me. Knowing of a wipe will make anyone who spend time especially after 0.23 looking like a donkey. I'm back to SE/ED/Empyrion or ARK another xhundred hours but not DU because (and thats very important) most of the time I have invested to get somewhere .... was not permanently fun and satisfying my brain, just necessary. And thats different in the other games taking so much time.
  5. quanta = content & quanta = Schematics -> content = Schematics math is so easy sometimes
  6. some players obviously stopped playing because they think a wipe is the solution and there is no more reason to waste time (because a future WIPE = loosing time) I'm okey with a partial wipe, such as territory scans and partially some other things - but for sure not anything else I had to do hard work for !! Just stop with those rumors of a WIPE. Some players used exploits to get rich that is a really bad thing and I fully understand the frustration. But again, I didn't and because of those idiots I don't want to start from scratch - 100% sure I WONT do it. Never. There is too much time in that game to confirm a wipe to equalize anything, even though I admit it would be helpful for the game in the very beginning. Thats why we need a good brainstorming: EnergyContingents for productions / new Players without Schematics / new Systems for new Players. aye Thats why I'm playing the game - I would stop playing knowing otherwise (Ruby 4 sale). I'm progressing - slowly but steady - anyone can dig/sell/&buy - its just costing your time. Time I wont lose. I'm not sitting on the backseat screaming for a WIPE to purge the exploitBoys&earlyScannerBoys&whatnotBoys to get my equality. I play the Game. Right now.
  7. and I really really dont ... understand ppl like you
  8. It would be cool though to be able to hide those insulting 0.0x buy orders. I really wish NQ is doing something against those stupid "offers", Its insulting me somehow. Some ppl really try to catch some stupid guys by being stupid themselves. I hate that picture. I allready found it non-sensical todo dedicated production streets before 0.23 but allmost everybody was doing it since it meant less micromanagement dedicated lines is a very good method to get/have some educts available - just in case you need some for what ever product. In my case its only the WarpCells - production line which makes sense for that. I can never afford a WarpBeacon Schematic for sure. But thats okey because its not the goal for a lonely wolf. But I can afford a lot of other things even if I sell ore to NPC. I dont understand all those ppl complaining. I just invested half of my money to craft the DSAT and Niobium Honeycomps JUST BECAUSE, and not to sell but to simply have it. If I miss a Schematic, I go out and do my mining until I can buy it. Still I have faith it is going to be the best product among it´s competitors. I like your positive impulse, I also hope NQ can balance it well to attract new players. And again, new Players needs to have a hand and an easy "starter" into that complexability. Finally I'm sure, if there is an "production" energy *contingent for each player - they could do a living market and create goals for bigger orgs and for little ones too. *a contingent which you can divide for yourself and/or your cooperation
  9. it looks a bit asymmetrical - but to be honest, those "ideal" PVP cubes are ugly anyway in general the graphics are much better with 0.26, to pay my 2cents I'm glad there is a some progress in the game, looking forward to the Asteroid gameplay, so thanks @NQ
  10. yep ... today its much better - I had one crash in 3h so far .. but yesterday it was something like one crash all 10 minutes
  11. I was shoked with 0.23 as well. But seriously .. a little scanning&mining&selling ores and I was able to craft anything I needed to build my ships/base whatnot - I could afford military M and L drives with the time and I'm crafting more then I did before just for myself - so yes, there is a little grind needed if someone wants to run his own factories but its worth it ! I'm just glad I did it. And I think it was the right step for the game to introduce schematics for performance reasons. But I agree with @Verliezer - new players should have a way to craft *anything without schematics to learn the game, I think that's very important for the future of DU. * T1, limited production - e.g. not possible to sell on a market
  12. how much new player do you expect on launch ? I'm expecting a plus of 20%-40%. The majority is or was already here in DU. A full wipe will simply cost all time anyone ever invested into the game. While I think there has to be a catalysator for new players giving them a huge benefit and a good motivating start, the old players should not pay for this with a wipe. With a wipe you have a good number of players starting through, but piss off a huge number of vets who already invested time&dough (remember not anyone has the same amount of one or another). A wipe will lead to a grounding, I have no doubt about it ! But I think there can be nice workarounds helping new players to establish and find the fun we all had once in time when we started. It needs serious brainstorming how to solve this.
  13. That is why I wish new Players to have the chance to learn the Game the way I could. There is no need to sell ore in the very beginning, but anyone should be able to craft the needed parts for the first crash-rides. Apart of that problem, the schematic restrictions help to improve the singleshard-performance (okey, thats an assumtion I admit)
  14. No. But allow beginners on Sanctuary to craft all T1 with an energy limited industry but without any schematics to learn the thing. Also implement energy contingents for each player to limit the concurrent running boxes to disperse big portions of production chains.
  15. exactly - I really wonder why this has not yet been implemented ! we need an energy contingent per player - anyone still can produce anything - but not at once bigger orgs probably want to focus on high end things and left over some educts to others - making them not just sellers but also customers and the Server operations probably will benefit as well
  16. @Belorion&Revelcro yep, confirmed - I can see the results/values when moving the "scanning result(s)" into another container great thanks for that hint m8
  17. I realised that all concurrent "scanner results" show correctly but not those made in an older game-session. Even if I just disconnect/reconnect, the previous "scanner results" are just empty cards. And as well any other older results I made in the past. Can anyone confirm ?
  18. Sanctuary was the best start for me. I learned how to take off into space and come back, finally. Yes I crashed several times, I payed for my lessons. If new players still could craft the requisites to build their first ship there - without schematics - they may learn the best way. I met a player coming to Alioth and couldnt do anything because he had too much in his inventory - I tried to help, but the next day that user wasnt anymore. He clearly left Sanctuary too early without a clue and hooked up himself somehow. Sanctuary took a lot of time, grinding rocks, trying things. But it was the best way to get into the game.
  19. its a hard decision making a fair cut for anyone in my formula we have old players, new players and Novaquark new players: .. have a big disadvantage especially after the 0.23 schematic change they need a smooth start equally to the early days for the now "old players" to stay&play and have enough motivation to continue and grow.. old players: have spend a lot of time they are high potential customers for the future - they possibly cant be replaced by new players (its just a guess) Novaquark: needs to balance server load in a way that its also working in future - concerning server expenses and its resulting performance for the players My proposal is to implement a energy contingent per player. A player can adjust his contingent between his own productions and the corporation (if he's part of one). Production lines may slow down in a negative exponential way if there is too much running - making it very insufficient. That way a bigger corporation is probably interested to buy components like screw and tubes and other T1/T2 products from the market to run their high-end productions at full speed – instead of producing all them self in a serial way. Server load could benefit a lot that way and it can help to establish a running market for anyone. New players should start on Sanctuary. They as well have this energy contingent, but they can produce anything without schematics up to T2 – they can not sell their products (those are flagged accordingly) on the market though - because its only meant to help them into the game and learn all the things to grow and establish properly before they go to another place for heavy production or contribution to a corporation. A wipe will affect the "old players" hardly and there's a big risk they quit – that’s a dangerous thing for anyone who wants the game to success in the long term because NQ simply needs the cash to continue. "New players" need a sandbox without too much restrictions. Its a good learning to visit a moon for ore and feed the factory for their needed things on Sanctuary. If they want to step forward they'll have to grind, like the "old players", to get the schematics and all other fancy stuff. There are some other questions like PVP. But I'm the wrong person to find out how to make this a good thing for anyone. @NQ I hope you'll do some intense brainstorm to find a good solution to help yourself, but also the new and the old players to keep /make them happy. I love the game. But personally, I wont start from scratch once again.
  20. for me the smoking gun is: a new player will probably play with his first territory Scanner once when all tiles on all planets are already scanned and extracted they play another deck of cards as anyone being there before them - and this puts the game in danger for them because its NOT fair ... and they will know that one day
  21. you not even know what's up .. if you knew it, you'd instantly drop the game
  22. I can not even craft a simple screw right now - YEAH !! I'm thinking of the time on Sanctuary when I've build my first dynamic MCore for the Moon-Mining-exploration - LOL -> any new Player needs to farm rocks for 2 Months before even thinking about an MCore excitement ¿ did anyone think about new Players when implementing the, lets call it, BIGORG:HAPPY-Patch ? the pricing for that Schematic Shit is INSANE ! eg. MCore = 36000000 the game was supercool - I really loved it I'm totally pissed now
  23. Thats good to know :D Thanks a lot for your quick response !
  24. maybe a bit off-topic, I'm sorry I just almost crashed in a Base after Warp-exit. It was at the Warp breaking situation, I hadn't had any chance to interact. Well, maybe Alt-F4. My question is, is it possible to crash this way ? While being still in the warp-breaking phase ? Since there is more and more stations around any planet, this is a real concern. Thanks for any hint.
  25. I'm a early backer but couldn't really play or enjoy DU in alpha. The start of the beta was not so good I admit, but periods were great and the tutorials very helpful. I felt the addiction coming up. The last two days were fantastic for me and a friend learning the game and improving the starter Base. thanks to NQ for all their effort I now believe DU might be a very good and long lasting game.
