  1. They could work around the voxel-glueing issue by creating a type of voxel with a programmable side. The side could be programmed to either stick or not, maybe even be electronically controlled. That would almost be like an additional lock on the door. If you keep the door actuator and door lock controls in seperate modules, a hacker would have to find and hack them both before they could open the door.
  2. I would like to see local voice chat as an option. The issue with Discord / Teamspeak / Mumble is that you have to get invited to / know the server IP address of the channel in order to communicate. This is fine for groups of people who are already working together, but it would make it hard to communicate with people you don't know yet. There is already a similar thread here: https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/9889-in-game-voice/ Keep in mind, as far as I know nothing has been confirmed by NovaQuark on whether any of the ideas in that thread will be used.
  3. That's wierd. Yes, please, someone close this!
  4. If planets across the galaxies do end up with different day / night cycles, (as in, same amount of time per day, different times of day / night at any given moment,) I think there should be 2 standards to measure time: Alioth time for when you are in space, ( no day / night cycles in space, so you will need some kind of reference,) and planetary time for when you are on / near a planet. You could even have them displayed side-by-side: Alioth-3:47pm Xanadu (nearby planet)-7:51am
  5. Yeah, screenshots are one way to do it, but not exactly what I meant. I was referring to blueprints like you would see in real life; a 2D image viewed from multiple angles, drawn as a schematic on a blue background. Like a building draft. Although, it would be cool if you could overlay a 3D image onto it, it would end up looking something like this: http://www.google.com/url?q=https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/33477/blueprints&sa=U&ved=0ahUKEwiUqNyYgcLQAhXCQCYKHa1zBrE4FBDBbggWMAA&usg=AFQjCNHqbAcnhgp-mrhaW-juHPyipzB2jw
  6. Plus, at 20% - 40% operational efficiency, a much smaller ship could even take you out. Part of the decrease in effectiveness (most of it, actually,) would come from less accurate targeting. So a small ship with a full crew (even if that is just the pilot,) should be able to dodge most of the "autoship" shots, especially if they fly really close to it, like the X-wing pilots in Star Wars did in order to destroy the Death Star.
  7. I thought this might be the best place to post, since it has to do with blueprints, although it is also somewhat of an art question. Does anyone know whether blueprints will be actually viewable in the game, like a schematic, or whether they are just supposed to be electronic files that only make sense to a factory unit? The reason I ask, is because I think it would be neat to be able to make a desktop background / screensaver slide out of your favorite ship blueprints. (Hence the "art" aspect.") I realize that it could pose problems from a blueprint security standpoint, since it might be easier to reverse-engineer a viewable blueprint, but then again, the blueprint wouldn't be divided into voxels, so.... Maybe this could be limited to Master Blueprints, or specific blueprints that have had this option enabled by the original designer? Let me know if you are aware of whether this will work. If not, tell me what you think about the idea!

  9. Look up "contracts", and glance through a few of those threads. If I remeber correctly, a few about bounties were started under that title, others about the subject morphed into bounty discussions. I haven't heard whether or not there will be an "official" bounty system, but those threads ought to give you an idea about how they might work.
  10. I don't know about an app that works independently of the game, (as in, the order while away type you described,) but I think one that works in tandem with it would be cool. For example, you could be inside a ship, and while you have a cockpit view on the monitor, your radar could be displayed on your phone / tablet. Basically, if it is a screen within the game, (radar, ship damage schematic, etc.,) it could instead be displayed via your "real world" device. Kind of like what I have heard Fallout 4 uses for the in-game "PipBoy" display.
  11. It would be kind of nice if NQ could find someone who speaks both English and French fluently to help them make videos. Even when they are speaking English it can be hard to understand them. Especially once they get into making video tutorials, it would make things a little easier for those of us in primarily English-speaking countries (U.S., Great Britain, Australia...). I am not trying to bash the NQ team by any means! I just really want the game to do well and have communication run smoothly.
  12. Alpha isn't quite out yet. My brother pledged at the Gold level, so he is really looking forward to it, but it is supposed to come the first half of 2017 from what I understand, with Beta slated for the second half.

Here's another idea, what if you could "refurbish" them and in so doing, gain advanced technology? I don't mean to suggest that this could be done easily, it would take lots of resources, but organizations might have the ability. Also, if an organization successfully restores one, they gain access to the data it collected in its travels, like a map containing info about planets it passed on the way to where it was found. Info like inhabitability, ore content / type, planet size, etc. Or you could just have that info be "harvestable" like a hard drive. No refurbishing required. Just a thought.
  14. That wouldn't be so bad, especially if there was a way to create some kind of automatic tag scanner that you could build into a ship / building. The scanner could alert you that an invisible tag is present, and maybe even what it does. Not sure if that is even a possibility, but if they can make invisible tags it should be. I guess I have moved from totally against it to on the fence about this one.
  15. Yup! That one has some good designs too!
  16. This might be an effective vessel as a home base for a pirate organization. They could move from system to system, scavenging and stealing as they pass through. You might not strut in gold shoes into an alley, but what if the alley struts its way to you? I am not, nor will be a pirate, but I can see this working for them.
  17. I personally think that following someone via a tag they don't even know they have is unfair to say the least. It should take real skill to avoid being detected, not just the push of a button and then: "Oh, so THAT'S where his secret Top Security base is: 70,000 lightyears due East!" You can see the problem right? I just see it being abused too easily and detracting from gameplay as opposed to adding to it.
  18. I am glad someone remembers more about that thread than I do! It is good to know that it is still a possibility, and I would love to see it happen. It could even add to more than just immersion for immersion's sake. Stealthy pirates / operatives could use poor weather conditions as cover to reach an objective, or a way to hit enemies while their in-atmosphere craft are grounded.
  19. I want to say that this concept was already mentioned in another thread, and the concensus was that adding real weather effects would be a tremendous strain on servers. Don't quote me on that though.
  20. I think what people are saying is that, since a territory unit claims a specific "tile", and since there will be a few pentagonal tiles on any given planet, you could claim one by placing a territory unit on it, just like the hexagonal tiles. Those may be more valuable simply because they are rare. Maybe I missed it, but I don't believe anyone was suggesting that claiming would be freeform. And, unless they make those pentagonal tiles un-claimable, we will see people claim them.
  21. Wow! I hadn't even thought of a voice-interactive personal AI computer system as a possibility, that would be cool! Sooo...are you saying that you don't think it should be a standard chat function, but rather something that you would have to script in-game? I'm not saying that is a bad idea, just want to be sure I am on the same page! I totally agree on the voice-interactive computer idea, it would be amazing to see someone create an AI with access to some kind of super-database, so it would actually feel like an extremely intelligent program. I can already see someone making one that responds like Jarvis from Iron Man! If voice-recognition gets accurate enough to pull off something like that, I would be all over it!
  22. Didn't they also say that planets will be much larger in full release? I thought I remembered reading that somewhere. Another interesting thing to note: since the tiles will be based on a smooth sphere template, the mountain and valley tiles will actually contain more surface area. (Think of trying to get to the other side of a mountain with a 1km base, a tunnel through the mountain will be 1km long, while going over the mountain could be 4km.) Not sure if this will be an advantage, given the obvious challenges of utilizing an angled surface like a mountainside, but it could make those tiles more valuable too, depending on who is looking to buy it!
  23. Welcome to the forums Teklow! That is actually a good question. I too would recommend reading up on the sources Captain suggested. It sounds like they cover your concerns. The cool thing is, the developers actually pay attention to what people say / ask on the forums, and I imagine several potential issues they hadn't considered have been brought to light this way. So feel free to ask about anything you don't know! If a thread already exists on the subject, someone will point in the right direction.
  24. I can see the appeal, but like ATMLVE, I think it would lend itself to abuse by idiots too easily. I will admit that speech-to-text is a cool idea though, except that it would probably have limited success at actually interpreting what you say into words accurately.
  25. Yeah, PTT would be great! I actually wasn't referring to text channels in my post. I am assuming that if they implement a direct-line voice comm system, you will get an on-screen text notification that someone is "calling" you. (Maybe as some kind of holographic display inside the helmet?) My post was based on this assumption, and was referring to what that notification would look like based on who was trying to contact you. I suppose it would be a good idea to do the same in text-chat too though!
