  1. This isn't KSP. Orbits really aren't stable enough in DU to count on that - and, since the space stations are stationary, you're setting yourself up for a collision.
  2. I completely disagree. Since most crashes are caused by bugs - at least for me... maybe the rest of you are sloppy pilots - we shouldn't be penalized for that. Overall, the proposed changes look good. I'm also not convinced that feedback from ATV hasn't hurt the game more than helped it.
  3. Yeah, it really sucks that there's a real cost to taking damage when the modal reason for a ship crash in game is the game crashing due to bugs. My ships are all grounded for now. No point in risking losing them to game bugs.
  4. I did build a new ship from nano-craftable parts since I can't count on the market anymore... but there's not much point in flying it. I could go mine some T1 and sell it, but it would take forever to make enough money to notice it. No one is buying ore except the bots and a handful of players who are offering 0.01 q above the bot price. No point in mining T3+, so no reason to spend money flying to other planets. Really not much to do. Pretty depressing, especially since I'm on vacation till the end of the year and have time to play. Yep. Gameplay is gone as far as I can tell. Oh, and transport now has a negative value, down from zero value. When you can get a decent price on T3+ it's by selling it on the planet where you mine it. Carry it elsewhere and it loses value. WTF is that about?
  5. Not really sure what there is to do in game now. Can't really afford to fly my ship because a bug could cause it to crash and then it would permanently lose value... and, I can't replace the destroyed parts because they aren't available on the market. There's really no way to make money. Bot sales of of T1/2 - even at elevated prices - don't really cover the operations costs. Well, I designed and built an XS core ship with mostly nano-craftable parts plus a few commonly available industrial parts. I can afford to fly that, but it really can't do much... no warp, not much cargo, no combat survivability etc. Not sure what the point is if I'm leaving even T3 in the ground cause there's no market. I could probably go pick up schematics for people except I can't afford to replace stuff on my very expensive courier ship if something goes wrong with the game... and certainly could never replce the lithium voxels it's made of if I somehow lost the ship... a real concern since fetch has been removed and NQ is completely unwilling to help fix problems their bugs cause. Also don't have the money to front people for their expensive schematics. So, for now, just logging in to collect the welfare check. Not even sure that's worth the trouble.
  6. Completely agree. I have all the machines I need to make warp cells, but I'll never use them now... and, of course, they have no value to players because everyone has a similar problem. Having bots buy them back would be reasonable and fair. Maybe I'll deploy a core at the local district and stack all my excess industries there lol.
  7. To slow down progression. It remains to be seen whether it will do that or just run the remaining players out of the game.
  8. Is that bauxite? It's a lot easier if we know what you're looking at. Yes, those are bot orders. They're there temporarily until other cash faucets, e.g., missions, get in game. Without them there would be no way to make money in the current patch. There have to be cash faucets that keep up with the value of the market or the market will deflate and fail.
  9. No more than tutorials do. It's a minor side issue. Make it a computer sim element... voila - no immersion break, lol.
  10. I think a creative mode is a great idea and a big improvement to the game, but to answer your question, BPs are saleable product. Letting it come into the game free skews the market. There should be a cost to bringing a BP from creative mode into the game. I would be inclined to say a creative player should have to gather the materials and deploy the BP (from the creative mode) once in game before he/she can sell copies of it.
  11. I really think that's just you tbh. Glad to hear they're considering a creative mode. It's very inhibiting to spend millions of quanta (which are now hard to get) to try out an idea only to find it doesn't work.
  12. Is the discord still moderated by self-appointed players who let their friends get away with all kinds of abusive crap while coming down hard on players they don't like? smh Nothing wrong with that joke, imo. And there's an element of truth - working at any start-up is precarious.
  13. I'll do it for cost of the schematics plus twice the warp cells it takes to get there and back. (I have a light warp courier - 8 cells to Thades or Madis round trip)
  14. Not if you have to perfectly align them in the right orientation. That's impossible with BPs without deploying and picking each core up multiple times. And even then, you're likely to be a voxel off.
  15. Yeah... I had just gotten my talents where I wanted them for the new patch and they pulled the rug out from under me.
  16. And with no mention in the patch notes. That was really low, NQ.
  17. I care about a wipe because I have hundreds of hours in an airport I built which I could not recover if it were wiped. My org has thousands... no tens of thousands of player hours in our city which also probably couldn't be restored. We put this time and effort in in the good faith belief that there would not be a wipe.
  18. First, when combat actually works as intended and is balanced, I will hunting you pirates. Second, avoidance is a valid tactic. Sun Tze even recommends it in the Art of War. Right now, combat is unbalanced - if you fire a shot at me you win, but if I try to avoid the fight, I succeed. I'm just saying let's keep both imbalances until combat is balanced - you can still practice against willing opponents until that balance comes. I may be out there practicing too, but it will be in cheap ass ships that I can easily restore from a BP (in the current patch, that probably won't ever happen of course, because money is tight and everything is financially out of reach).
  19. Years to get what a handful of players had before this patch. They don't really have that much now. All they have now is useless cash... only cash because their factories no longer work and useless because there's nothing on the markets to buy. All I have is some ships I can't afford to fly and a pretty nice airport that took hundreds of hours to build - maybe more. I probably would not bother to replace it if there were a wipe. And then I might login once a year after that to see if the game had become worth playing. Fortunately, JC has already said no wipe.
  20. No. But in it's current state (seriously dysfunctional) I should be able to avoid it. Once it's close enough to be worth testing, I'll be glad to jump in with an easily replaceable ship and try it out, but it would just be a waste of my time right now. (Although I have still done it as crew in other people's ships - that's how I know how bad it is now - as of a few patches ago).
  21. Yes. I should have added, it remains to be seen whether the current stop-gap will work. I expect once the griefer orgs get their L core production lines going, I'll be up against L weapons and radar, but now limited to M weapons and radar myself and the issue will be the same. They'll be shooting from out of my max range and they'll be able to stay out of my max range. And now I won't be able to afford warp cells to avoid the fight.
  22. resetting talents again? It's F...ing three clicks per GD level to buy them back. My wrist has gone numb already. F this. How about rolling this back and trying again after you give us 1 click to buy a talent and all its prereqs?
  23. Sure... when the game gives the transport ship some mechanism for defense. That doesn't exist in the combat system of the recent patches - meta ships could hammer a transport while staying out of range of whatever guns it had... and stay out of range since they certainly had more acceleration. Compare to say, Star Citizen, where your pirate ship may be faster and more maneuverable, but I have bigger guns and a tankier ship. Still not a fair fight, but I have a chance. In DU, avoiding the battle is the only chance. (And don't go spouting BS about escorts cause everyone knows that doesn't work).
