  1. Yeah. Definitely not holding my breath waiting for it. What they have now is OK if they can make it work credibly for traveling to another star system. They just need to get it so everyone sees the sun in the same position at any time and place.
  2. You know Alioth and Madis and all the space between are permanently safe, right? There won't be a war between them unless it's a trade war. Wars will be between large orgs, but probably no org will ever be big enough to control a planet - blockade briefly and not very successfully, sure, but not control. Such orgs will have flags if they want them. A transponder set to an org code also functions as a flag. Just as no large org can control a planet, most won't confine themselves to a single planet either.
  3. The only think sub-par about it is that in game chat already does this just fine. Type /join 911 and call for help. Eyes and Ears rescue monitors that and maybe other rescue services. Of course gankers are monitoring it too. Other rescue services have more secure channels that only they and their subscribers can access. Probably fewer gankers on those. See above - in game chat. Immersive; Can be secure(-ish); No extra dev cost.
  4. I know of two orgs doing rescue work already. Both are connected with my nation-org, so are visible to me. There are probably many others. I know one was lured to into a trap and ganked in the first week or so of beta. I don't know if they're still in business. The other one shows up for rescues armed and ready to defend themselves. I'm pretty sure the proposed beacon would be useless for either of these businesses. Obviously, if gankers are setting a trap with a beacon that can only be used from an unarmed ship, the beacon will be on an unarmed ship with an armed ship right next to it. The fact that it can only be received by an unarmed ship just means their target may show up unarmed. So, imo, the proposed beacon is merely a ganker's tool and that's probably the OP's intent.
  5. I hope the skybox sun is a placeholder in which case, let's not be putting a lot of effort into making it look good. Or have they ruled out rotating planets now?
  6. My in-game name has a space in it and no problem with the welfare checks. I doubt the space is the problem. (It does prevent people from whispering to me though)
  7. To the extent that it's playable at all (which it's not always), it's OK for newbies. The learning curve is steep but you can do it. Very little is actually locked behind talentz - and the first 3 levels of talentz go very quickly. You can be level 3 in all the mining stuff before you finish climbing the learning curve to understanding how mining works. As a newbie, you need mining as your first step - so you have a source of money to move on to whatever you want to do. It would be very slow to start up with just the welfare checks.
  8. This would preclude market delivery missions for players. Such missions would considerably enhance game-play, so i say let's not do this. I like this. It's better (or at least less likely to piss players off) than my solution of change the RDMS to all players/all access after an hour - let us salvage them lol. I was at D6 yesterday and I couldn't find the ramp up to the platform. That's how cluttered it is UNDER the platform. Once I did find it, the path from the top of the ramp to the entrance was almost completely blocked and some a-hole was maneuvering what looked like a wall that he seemed intent on using to finish the job of blocking the entrance. NQ really need to get out the ban hammer and get rid of some of these so called players.
  9. Level 3 in the stuff you want to do is adequate for most things and very quick to achieve. Log in, set your queue. By the time you finish the tutorial, you'll have enough talents to be functional. (Whether you have enough skill is on you) It's not something to worry about.
  10. Alert-native facts? Do you mean Alternative Facts? Certainly no actual facts in there, except possibly that a wipe would end the game.
  11. I'm finding hardly any T4/5 where I previously found quite a bit. I didn't even find any gold on a recent trip to Feli. It's going to be interesting to see what happens to high end ships (and their owners) as PVP eats away their element lives and they can't be rebuilt because the ore doesn't exist. Aside from that, ore is just money to me, so I have to find new strategies that don't rely on T4/5.
  12. Not my problem if you can't see how my comment was helpful. But not surprised that you can't see it.
  13. This must actually be fairly easy to do on the dev end, but obviously is low priority or they would have done it. Good news: the human brain is very flexible. You can learn the DU setup in a few minutes . Even my aging brain can do it. Even when they accidentally swapped roll and yaw it wasn't a big deal to adapt. No need to be a snowflake lol.
  14. Combat needs to be drastically improved before subjecting all players too it, but, yes, some NPC pirates, preferable in non-PVP areas would be fun once combat works right. But I don't think DU's design would allow it because the physics runs in the client and NPCs have no client. And NQ would need a much larger budget to build that game.
  15. It's pretty clear that there has to be some leeway for players to test bugs. I hit something the other day that caused me to get double ore while mining. I don't know how it happened or how to reproduce it. Was that an exploit? Maybe. If it happens again and I figure out why/how, I'll report it... but if NQ already knows about it, they might think I exploited it. If they punish every little thing like that they'll either wipe out the player base or they'll start getting really useless bug reports liKe "something happened and I got double ore."
  16. I'm pretty sure key rebinding is on the list of eventual features, but we don't have it yet.
  17. That's press release for your corp, not a magazine lol. And there is no District 18 - just a Market 18.
  18. What about the new PVP system could possibly require a wipe? That's absurd on its face. (It's absurd because there's no persistence in PVP, so nothing that needs wiping) We skipped the mid-game because players always focus on the endgame and game devs always underestimate the players. If they wipe, it will happen exactly the same way again. The only way to avoid this is to add a new endgame after the players have reached the current endgame... then you get WOW's problem where everyone gets bored and quits between updates.
  19. Alas, that's probably true. There may be insurance in the game but it will be a scam like everything else offered by players.
  20. RL haulers in war zones are generally using the customer's truck lol, i.e., Soldier driving an Army truck. The soldier isn't responsible if the mission fails (although he might be dead). I'm fine with having insurance... which charge I would pass on to the customer - it's part of the cost of delivery. In lieu of that, the customer can put up a surety to replace my ship if it gets destroyed.
  21. Confirming my low opinion of EVE players lol. There's no reason the hauler should take responsibility for anything except delivering the cargo.
  22. 500% is a guaranteed scam. If you succeed in delivering it just means the mission giver failed. Even if the customer loses more than the cargo on failure, that's on him - don't fly what you can't afford to lose... it cuts both ways.
  23. That brings up an interesting question. Will we (haulers) know the value of the package we're hauling? It would really stupid to put up more in collateral than the package is worth since that would provide motive for the scam. Both side have to have an incentive for the mission to succeed or it never will.
