  1. Something new or not new tommorow? Like some people on Jago bugged in sort of limbo with "undhandled exception" and not able to log in at all? I'm one of unlucky forkers. I developed somewhat of phobia -- every day I launching DU, my heart slows down what new "not working" thing will be upon me.

Guys, in all this discussions (that in different forms lasting now for years), you missing 3 important points: 1) Current generation will not need to last long, only until NQ remake of plantes (~ 3 m / half of year), with this whole world will be renewed. 2) When planets regened (and all ore restored), they then add Space Mining, that I strongly suspect, will have some renewable mechanic in it. 3) Then it will be whole new systems eventualy... Also, to be honest, NQ proved to be relativly "soft and caring" developer for casual player base, so if some critical situation with ore developes, they most likely agressivly intervene to balance it. All this means realisticly -- there is nothing to fear, some minor scarcitiy is possible, but nothing more.
  3. @vertex nailed it pretty good, but I want to add little bit of my angle. If you playing alone, duo or in small friend company you never trully planning to expand, than it doesn't matter at all-- you will eventualy hit same "soft" celling as everyone started before. In some areas it will be even easier/faster, because more things are readly available to buy for cheaper/more people willing to enter some sort of deals. Only real difficulty you can encounter with time progression in game world -- relativly less ore and more dangerous trips to it (more pvp ships). If you playing it org style with real ambition to grow into something, then it (while may sound counter-intuitive) MATTERS EVEN LESS. Here its all about your ability to organize people, keep em, expand and develop human recource, buiding connections. Sure, orgs with "old wealth" still have potential edge, but real question, are they capable to use it? Some, with competent leadership surely invest it right, but many others probably just idly sit on proverbial chests until its irrelevent (by their quiting of game or inflation eaten up "riches"). So, while I'm not always agree how NQ balances game for new/old/harcore/casual/different styles players, overall its still (as trend tracable to future) quite open field to join, without too much of concerns of "I will never catch up". And its obviously so in just 2 weeks of game start!

  5. Until now we were generaly banned from visual content because of NDA and I feel this habit NMC must gradualy part! And... now we also have Twitter as easy-fast medium. So, if you feel you have interesting and quality visual content to share, feel free to ping me. Like Actimist with his perfect shot and ship bought from "ominous stranger".
  6. I, to be honest, have little patience left after all this Beta start... issues what happened with me and my friends, but I still have hope in NQ and game, that is too good in concept to let it fail.
  7. @ankido, you revieving 100 k q everyday for just connect, generaly you can give it a rest fo several day just log in and out, then buy ship.
  8. Current DU tutorials -- are total abomination. Long. Boring. Bugged. Placed in worst laggin place in whole game. New players literaly must SURVIVE them. My advice to all new guys -- play (skip) to point of grabbing STU and hovercraft parts and RUN, skip rest of trash and "specialized" ones. Save yourself (at least -- for now, you can return later to feed inner completionist), and don't worry that you don't know anything or missing -- you can learn even in better quality by just asking other players or watching some videous or reading text guides. Tutorial stage = worst part of game, it goes progressivly better, once you free. And them when you evenrtualy leave Sanctuary -- even more better! Game generaly like diamond in shit, to grab best part you need to go over bad part. Give it a chance.
  9. So, in short. Forget all horribly complicated triangles and stuff. If you up to somewhat relaxed gameplay in good company (totaly approved by NMC), follow this plan of action: 1) Find @Armedwithwings, say to him secret password "PRKL MN" 2) Recieve blueprint of one of epic starting ships he disigned: at least "The Egg", build it. 3) Ask what to do next...

  11. Wel, NQ was kinda doing "lesser evil" choice here. Yet I agree, it left with... some conflicted feelings too (to say it polite). On good side, there will be other systems, where, I hope, exploration and development will be fully in our hands, not hindered by some pre-staged things.
  12. We continue to cover situatian in fashinable Twitter-mode (to not disturb people with time-consuming interivews), its quite a fun! Yet this left us thinking with new improvement. With increase of org activity and seriousness of happening, we decided to actualy gather contact of orgs press people to have more stable communication and coverage. So if you talkative org leader or some diplomacy guy -- feel free to say hello in Discord. While we trying to keep balanced approch in coverage of all DU actors, easy access is definitly a bonus to future media visibility in case of some interesting developments. Support free press!

  15. First of all, we have new thing out! NMC was alwasy super-commited to idea of building in-game Civilization (we understand it very practicly, as social, economic and, first of all -- techical interconnection of our community). Now we bringing it to next level (proportional to humble forces we have) in 2 component module. Adding new type of material called "Project", where player or group of players can expose his community-oriented project to wider audience via NMC article. It will be in more monologue-presentation format, but some twists (and NMC participation) to make it even more interesting read. Organizations seriously commited to community-oriented projects (simple speaking -- something cool for everyone!) also can be featured in our special gallery on our site with discription of their projects and contacts for persons interested to participate. Now working on concrete details how to make it. Criteria is quite simple. - thing developed beyond just basic idea and not completly insane (or insane, but cool enough to be insane); - servicies, tech or goodies in question are accecable (when ready) by everyone on free or fair terms; - no intentional (or chornicly unintentional) violence against NMC personel and hardware; - no intentional attaking on obvious nebiews and community-oriented infrastucture (like voxel library), generaly -- some logical civilization building solidarity! Next. We have some secret project too on fields of more entertaining/humor based content (to spice up our main things). I asked someone very special to collaborate, but if i get horribly painful "no", then you all suffer more boring version of this sub-project. Next! With start of game we probably take 1 m vocation (to establish our humble huts in game), survive video-content invasion and figure things out. Yet, we reserve right to break it, if some super-special thing fire up. Thanks!

  18. Exeptional work, @Peregrin, I salute you. Not only interesting read, but quite a story to learn from. And learn well. Still, I strongly believe in republican ideals of umbrella alliances or, more exactly, in what they can eventualy transcend in positive direction. While very vulnerable in infancy and taxing to maintain in balance, they hold within them this kernel of ever evaisive, but beautiful dream of better way for humanity, when free people stand together for not what is convinient, but what is right, where measure of strenght is will not to dominite, but to protect. And you know, at the end, good guys can have some medals from princesses, not that boring to not to try. Sorry, i'm probably just balding man who still believe in fairytales ?
  19. And with SneakySnake's one we achieved sort os small milestone -- 10 interviews + 1 collaboration project. So far it was great experience with interviewees: interesting conversations, org presentations, we definitly want more of this interections -- its not just some "journalism-rpg", telling this stories feels genuinly satisfiying. Reception from our readers in community was very warm also, with feedback and valuable advices. There is also a lot things to improve, like technical and logistical stuff. We can definitly win from english-native journalist in our ranks. What next? We planning to continue interviewes and add some spice with new types of materials when NDA drops. NMC is super-commited to futher practical civilization building, thickening legenday casual layer and everything, that procudes fun and engament for players. If you consider youself dreamer of more emerging in-game world (and have some blast ideas how to practicly du it) -- feel free to contact us, we always hungry for such stories!
