Please remain polite on the forum toward everyone, even if you are in conflict with some participant(s) in this thread.
As this topic starts to be recurrent, it seems there is a need to clarify publicly our stance regarding subReddit channels.
 
1) Please do not bash Reddit and Subreddit communities. 
 
Yes, there are drama, conflicts, rants and many other negative things that can be found on some subreddit channels, like on any platform. It’s the Internet. However there are also a lot of positive discussions and nice people on many channels. So please refrain to condemn redditors as the whole, without exception. Also, as mentioned before, Reddit is an efficient way of giving more visibility to Dual Universe. Not all Reddit readers are bad people (far from it) and it would be nice if we can show them that Dual Universe exists and might be a game they were waiting for.
 
2) Reddit insists to avoid having company staff in charge of the subreddit(s) talking about game(s) of the said company and we understand that. 
 
While it might seem as a poor excuse to get a non-qualified person in charge, but it's not: even if it's not the case of the majority, there are some companies that don't behave professionally when it comes to communication by silencing dissenting without exception. That’s sad to say but even it’s a minority of devs, some don’t act ethically when they get moderation rights. We are a few at Novaquark to have already witnessed that. Is the current subreddit management mode perfect? Probably not, as other abuses can be made, but we have to deal with it. For the same reason, we also understand that Novaquark has no right to put in charge any community member on a specific subreddit. The request must come from the community member alone.
 
3) In case of subreddit Moderator abuses.
 
The Reddit policy invites anyone targeted by an abusive moderation on a subreddit channel to contact directly the official Reddit staff (contact@reddit.com). You can tell us for informative purpose if you have been the target of an abusive ban by a subreddit moderator, but we won’t be able to help on that matter. To be more precise, here is an official (and understandable) stance of Reddit Staff:
 
4) The current situation between both subreddits talking about Dual Universe.
 
- On one side we have the oldest subreddit and the biggest number of followers, but with an erratic activity (nearly no activity during one year after its creation, then highly variable activity afterward) and not tightly connected to the existing Dual Universe Community.
- On the other side, we have a younger subreddit, created due to the inactivity of the first one, with less followers, but with a stronger activity and well connected with Dual Universe Community as it is managed by active members of the existing Dual Universe Community.

Both parties have reasons to claim their legitimacy. 
 
5) Which factor(s) we value as the most important to work with a subreddit channel.
 
Reddit seems to give more importance/legitimacy to the following factors:
- The seniority of a subreddit channel 
- The number of people who follow
 
While we respect their choice, we have however a different approach regarding the factors we value the most for a possible partnership, especially:
- The most regular / highest activity of a subreddit channel
- Regular members of the subreddit are already informed on all basic questions, being able to answer to newcomer questions without difficulties.
 
Why we chose these factors over those chosen by Reddit:
- We favor organic growth: in our opinion, a young but active subreddit is going to attract more naturally and efficiently new followers than an old but less active subreddit.
- Interesting discussions/debates can emerge on Reddit only if a large part of the readers are already well informed about the basic knowledge on the game.
 
In the case where the two subreddit channels talking about Dual Universe don’t merge peacefully, we see two scenarios:
 
a ) No subreddit merge but at least a gesture of goodwill from both sides to gather the whole group of Dual Universe fans on Reddit.
Considering the other subreddit channel as a “subreddit” sibling and inserting a link pointing towards it (which would mean that there is a link on /r/dualuniverse pointing to /r/dualthegame and another link on /r/dualthegame to /r/dualuniverse. Maybe even share the activities between both subreddits (like all basic questions would be posted on /r/dualuniverse and all the more complex discussions on /r/dualthegame. That’s just a suggestion based on how both subreddits have evolved until now and absolutely not an order). If such agreement is reached, there will be no problem to partner with both subreddits. However, it will be up to subreddit moderators to submit to Novaquark possible events they would like to do on their subreddit (not the other way around). Then we will discuss how much time we can allocate to such events.

b ) No subreddit merge and no agreement reached.
In that case, we will partner only with the subreddit that has the highest activity and connectivity with the community, for the reasons stated above.
 
As the moderator of /r/dualuniverse seems to be someone else than AidenAiden now, the new moderator will be contacted to inform him about our stance toward subreddit channels and we'll see what comes from the discussion.

Hi everyone,
 
Just a short message here to emphasis/remind the fact that using fake accounts on a big scale to inflate artificially the size (hence the visibility) of an Organization, especially when the Organization founder(s) is/are aware of this and let it go (or is a part of the problem), this can lead to the Organization deletion. This won't prevent the involved people to recreate their organization, but if this abuse (use of fake accounts) is done by the same person(s) again, the sanction will escalate.

- You can't lend or share your account(s) with anyone else (even a friend or a member of your family). No exception will be taken into account.

Hi Malice and welcome to the official Dual Universe forum!
The answer to your question is: yes, totally! You will be able to build a ship with the shape you want! 
Making the game in voxels was specifically meant to let player creativity go free when making a ship.
However, choosing an exotic shape might not make it easy to have an optimal efficiency.
It will be up to the builders to make the balance between design and efficiency

You will only be limited by your imagination and ingenuity. Although ships may be a bit more limited because the thrusters have to be in the correct places to make it go forward, there shouldn't be any limits on stations. The parts like thrusters and turrets are going to be specific preset shapes, but the rest of the building, you just stretch, mold, and duplicate the voxels until you get the desired shape. This video gives a pretty good idea of what building will be like, although have had added new tools like copy now.

Until now, we couldn’t manually manage (remove/promote) Legates in an organization easily on the administration side.
Since Yesterday, we are able to use a feature simplifying considerably the process. 
 
As we already mentioned many times in the past, we (Novaquark) don’t want to involve ourselves in the management of organizations created by players. However, we are also aware that the current (and temporary) state of the management system contains obvious flaws. You know it. We know it. As this is still “work in progress”, we hoped that organizations creators will be reasonable enough to avoid abusing the well-known flaws of the system and would wait that all the rules are implemented before trying to sabotage other organizations. 
 
So we are going to state the obvious here:
It’s ok to “play a bad guy” and use dirty tricks once all the rules are implemented. However, it’s absolutely not ok to start exploiting the flaws of a work in progress system: this is not “playing a bad guy”, this is just toxic behavior and trying to gain an advantage while not playing by the rules.
 
That’s why - despite our will of non-involvement - we will make exceptions until the full implementation of the RDMS (Rights & Duties Management System) for the Organizations.
 
Why did we decide to intervene? 
Two reasons:
1) In the current state, a Legate has much more power than in the final system, due to the minimalistic mechanisms temporarily in place. If in the current system, any Legate has the right to promote a member to Legate status by himself alone, in the final system the default rights will be completely different: promoting a legate will be done only with a vote by majority rule, or the right to promote someone will be given to specific persons and not every Legate.
2) In the current state, a Legate cannot be demoted by any mean (even by the creator of an organization). In the final system, default configurations will allow to demote a Legate with a vote by majority rule. A Legate could also be demoted by specific persons who have been given the right (most probably by the Organization founder) to do so.
 
How is this going to work?
Each organization is going to have one "wild card": if there is a problem with the Legates in an Organization, you can contact the support team at support@novaquark. However, keep in mind we (Novaquark) reserve the right to intervene (or not) on a case by case basis. 
 
Example of a case where we will intervene:
Some Legate using the flaw of the current temporary system to vandalize (or generate troubles in) an organization.
 
Example of a case where we won’t intervene:
Two organizations have merged in one, and now both creators of previous organizations want to mutually exclude each other from the organization. In this kind of case, we won’t remove anyone. We won’t favorize one creator above another. However, we will do our best to help finding a satisfying solution for both parties.
 
As a global reminder:
If someone finds a loophole in the rules in place (that may happen), and this loophole is used to generate trouble and spread a toxic behavior, we won’t stay idle watching the situation deteriorating.

Today I finished up a piece of propaganda for us here at "Deleted." While finishing it up I had a rather interesting idea for something to start up on the forum. The idea is to create a place where anyone that wants to show off their skills in creating beautiful pieces of propaganda art!
 
Anyone can submit, just refrain from anything not matching the conduct guidelines set out for us on the forum.

The discussion around destructive mining practices got me thinking this. I don't speak on behalf of any org represented, this is simply an impression of these orgs that I had made based on what I've heard in discord in the past month and through recent videos posted on youtube.

Aww shucks you guys... I was totally expecting more rage but this is being received so much better than I thought! 
 
 
Ehh it's more of a not-so-sneaky gag I threw in at the last minute before I posted. I've never heard anything about Silverlight in a positive or negative fashion so I assume that they as a whole just do their own thing and take pleasure in being completely free of politics as opposed to the other four orgs, or at least they're quiet for now in pre-alpha. We'll see how that changes once they start wheeling and dealing with the other orgs.
 
Also, no one seems to have noticed yet. BOO sitting on top of the ark ship all Nixon style, those are middle fingers being held up. Felt like this small addition was needed because arms-up just didn't properly serve a pirate and/or anti-gov orientated org.
 
If the community is truly interested, I might consider doing these every once in a while. Sadly it will be content driven based on what happens in the community and me keeping my ears open to all that is going on. That will, of course, change when I return to college in the fall and go back to work again (took the summer off, god I miss em...).
 
I don't have a truely artistic side (I do write fanfics but that's something else entirely) so MS paint and maybe copy/paste icons should be all that you guys expect out of me.  

The last time I brought this up, the person in question was quick to show up here to try and defend themselves for leaving the subreddit in such a poor shape, but as of now that person has been suspended from Reddit and the subreddit has once again become neglected (could have predicted that...)
 
So, again, I am posting this to point people towards the better subreddit -> https://www.reddit.com/r/dualthegame/  (I'm not a mod there)
 
The other one was seemingly completely abandoned, with a 10-day old Reddit account currently "in charge" of it and a bot account put in to keep people from trying to request it from /r/redditrequest. 
 
 
 
Why am I bringing this up, again?
 
Because the success of Dual Universe depends entirely on the community and the way that it is reflected in various forms around the gaming world. It's hard to argue that Reddit doesn't have an impact on games, and there are plenty of vibrant Reddit Gaming communities out there that interact back and forth with devs and give the impression that their games are healthy (full of players) and still active.
 
If a random user were to come across /r/dualuniverse, they'd see months old posts sitting around, a completely unresponsive mod team, and a sidebar that to this day is full of incorrect information (the old mod refused to remove No Man's Sky as a related subreddit, for example). 
 
That's a disappointment because of the work that the /r/dualthegame mods put into making their subreddit active and accurate, yet because one person buried their head in the sand and refused to lift a finger for their subreddit, /r/dualuniverse is going to continue to get more traffic and subscribers regardless of how bad it is. 
 
 
So why post this? 
 
Because if we want DU to survive into the future, and to continue growing and be seen as an active community, we should do our part to continue directing people to what is the best reflection on it (and /r/dualuniverse is not it).
 
So if you're on Reddit, or you know Redditors who are into Dual Universe, point them towards /r/dualthegame. 
 
 
 
And to the person responsible for the mess that is /r/dualuniverse, you should feel ashamed of yourself for leaving this stain on the community. Plenty of people reached out to you asking you to fix the subreddit, instead you wanted to feel this imaginary power over the community, refused to do anything about the mess you left, spread a bunch of misinformation about me on the subreddit and discord, and then got yourself suspended from Reddit leaving the subreddit in the condition that it's in now.

Hello everyone, this is Shockeray, GM of Soul Nebula.
 
After waiting for an updated version of the original community map to show itself on the forums for a long time, I finally took it on myself to create my own up-to-date version. After a lot of original set up, my method now requires little time and almost non-existent server strain, allowing me to refresh it many times a day if there ever was a reason to. Due to my limited knowledge of this type of undertaking, TheGreatSardini helped me with the start up. Unless I missed one, this map should contain every organization with at least two members.
(Although Graph Commons may not be the best available method of displaying this node map, it is the best that I have found available to the public.)

Hi Neolithic,   Most of your questions can find an answer if you read the FAQ and all explanations available on the Kickstarter page. While the Kickstarter campaign has ended almost everything regarding the Founder packs of the Kickstarter campaign remain true for the Post-Kickstarter Founder packs (minus exclusive Kickstarter rewards). So please, read everything there.    As for the "unusual" questions for the highest Tier - Packs:    - Can I start a family with a member of the Novaquark team?  Nope, you can't start a family with one or several members of the Novaquark team. That's not part of the deal.   - What does it really mean to spend a day or half day with JC and/or the team?  It means you can follow the daily life of the studio and discuss with Novaquark staff about Dual Universe for the time described in the pack. Nothing extraordinary here: it's a kind of reward that has already been seen several times in highest tiers of other crowdfunding campaign. Note: a full day is not 24h but a full working day.   - What if Novaquark staff is being attacked?  Anybody could be attacked. No one is safe. It takes courage from getting out of the bed every morning. It's part of life. If you want more details regarding the answer to life, the universe and everything, we suggest to meditate on the number 42 or try to find the supercomputer Deep Thought.    - What if Novaquark is hacked?  Same answer as for the question above.   - What if a DU Secret is exposed?  Those participating to a DU secret will be only aware of the secret they are involved in. Moreover, there will be a NDA on that topic. If someone want to blew up the DU secret he/she's involved in, he/she will be in for legal problems, without counting how he/she will be perceived by the community members, who will most likely not see this with a good eye. The Horizon Institute Of Technological Advancement Is a group dedicated to the advancement of technology throughout the universe, We try to encourage research in every subject. Research Projects done by the institute are loosely supervised, we monitor the projects to make sure they do not get out of hand, besides that, you are free to do what you like. While Horizon does focus in scientific research, we also require a Security detail/corps to protect assets and scientists within the institute. And then there is the head counsel, Horizon will be controlled by 5 people, a decision can only be reached when the majority have the vote, We will make the dealings, hand out payments, and hire the workers.
 
 
Research Corps
The research corps is the main sector within The Institute, they focus on projects of their own. the only thing is though, when someone finishes a project they must turn it into the Horizon Counsel, they will review it and give the approval for the project. As long as your project isn't hurting people, illegal...ish, or killing people, your project will always be accepted,
 
Security Corps
They defend the area were the scientists work, since we will most likely be in a city, we do not need a full on military, the security corpse will defend the lab with the scientists if we become under attack. Security corpse will be payed the same as scientists, price is negotiable.

I'm writing this post on behalf of the DUHS (Dual Universe Historical Society)
 
We just came up with an idea:
 
As we know, every account can have three characters. What would you do with the other 2 alts?
 
We were thinking of maybe an alt like: DUHS-Writer Lethys
 
Here a few prerequisites:
 
- Such an alt would only be skilled to fly the most basic ship (later on maybe the most basic FTL ship)
- No weapon / AVA / CVC skills allowed
- No defensive (to be seen....) skills allowed
- No weapons on person or on that ship
- No trespassing of territory
- Only approved members of DUHS (maybe a public list with main character names too)
- be polite, ask before doing/recording stuff,... - don't be a jerk
- You're not allowed to use such an alt in any other way than recording stuff for DUHS (so you can't get access to a market hub your main char is banned from)
- No usage of devices which could be used to spy on others (like scanners)
- IF there is an API or something for skills, such alts have to make this API publicly available so that others can look up their skills in order to control them
 
So such an alt would only be used to record an ongoing battle for example as bystander. Or make a live-stream and comment on it (as players may be widely spread later on and can't participate if they wish). You could also record/showcase the latest model of a ship or city (let's say ODY will be very famous and are the first ones to build a deathstar for example). You could do interviews with people who witnessed something while walking through their city. Stuff like that - I think you get the idea.
 
Ofc an org would only give such alts the clearance to access their more or less public spaces - maybe later, once the reputation and trust is built, certain members get access to more restricted areas where special projects are highlighted, new techs are revealed, whatever - not a must though.
 
This is not about spying and infiltrating (as you don't get access to anything secret anyway), it's solely about recording the history of DU.

Nothing like Dual Universe, but is anyone else out there excited for fortnite?  Never thought we'd actually see this game, haha!  Thankfully I didn't follow it as closely as others, just came out of the blue for me... even though I remember looking into it all those years ago.

The game will be F2P in 2018, the package just gives early access at the moment.  And of course goodies and whatnot.  There WILL be microtransactions, but Epic Games usually does pretty well with their in-game purchases... if Paragon is anything to go by.

They fall because of
 
Wrong decisions
Bad leadership
Power struggle within the alliance
Scamms/awoxing
Making too many enemies
Making the wrong enemies
 
But the most significant factor why big groups fail is the leadership itself. You need dedicated people to run an alliance, being in command, getting things done. It's a 24/7 job for no-lifers.
You need to be online to get people into fleets, mining, doing stuff. I myself was an fc and more than once per week my mobile rang and I got up to lead a fleet. If you don't have such people, then you won't be able to run a huge alliance

The GSF wanted to set up a Viceroy system. They got the entire EVE server setting differences aside just to destory the GSF.
 
 
Everyone, the bankers, the trolls, the scammers, the traders, everyone who could bring a gun, brought a gun - even the low-sec edgelords. Everyone came together to beat the Goons to death. Some of them, have fled to this very community - You know who you are  - others have fled to Star Citizen.
 
 
Bigger alliances have failed due to bad economics, others like BoB, died off due to trusting the keys to the kingdom to a person they repeatedly belittled - that betrayed BoB to the Goons.
 
Lack of SRP (Ship Reimbursement Program) also forces people on YOUR side, to think twice before following you into battle.
 
The Honeybadger Coalition's downfall came from bad handling of economics.
 
 
 
 
So, to answer your question, circumstances. But terrible management also pushes an alliance to its downfall. 

I have to say that I don't think I have ever been looking forward to a game as much as this. I had high hopes for Destiny when it was first announced, but that turned out to be a very different game to the one that I imagined. The same goes for No Man's Sky.
 
But Dual Universe, from all that has been revealed so far, is shaping up to be the game that I (and most people on here I'm guessing) have always wanted to play. I think the scope for role-play is going to be incredible. Example: I was watching a documentary on the development of the SR-71 blackbird, and realised that having an underground research and building base, that is only accessible to a select group, is totally possible in Dual Universe. Keeping the development secret could be done by flight testing the constructs at night, and then perhaps only selling the blueprints to select people within a specific organisation or those with a particular political leaning. Only a small example, but the possibilities seem endless at this point!

I've got a good location picked out in KY that is at the exact center of the path if anyone wants to see it and is nearby.

It's literally a once in a lifetime opportunity, so if you have the opportunity you should travel to a location where you can see it  

This isn't something that's known for sure yet. I really hope so. This was something promised with... you know. That game with all the empNMSty promises. I absolutely love the idea of being able to point at a star and head there to it; there's a game called Pulsar: Lost Colony on steam, there's a good chance most have heard of it. You can do that in that game; every star is an actual place to go to, and I love to just lul my ship about, point at a totally random star, and then travel to that particular star to see what's there. I love the concept of knowing that each star I pick will bring something different than all the others. I am sure there are other games like this as well.
 
It's also something I yearn to do in the real world; I wish so much I could just pick out some galaxy at random, and then pick out a star at random there, and know what's around that star. Even if it's just an asteroid belt, it would still be fascinating to know. This kind of thing has always been a dream of mine, but alas, quite unrealistic at this time.
 
Nevertheless, game's can still offer this awesome experience to some extent, and I really hope Dual Universe does. I mean, how cool would it be to finally create an interstellar ship, and look at all the stars before you, pick any one of them at random and fly to it and discover what's there, something no one else has found? And to know too, that had you picked the star just to the right of it, you'd have come across a completely different solar system light years away and radically changed all of your future adventures in the game.

Pre-Alpha stage:
Organizations created here are a provisional step towards building your organizations in-game.
As the game is in development the features and systems in place will evolve and are subject to change over time. Once the game launches the organizations, the members and the information held here will be synchronised with the game world. The organization structure will be composed of Members and Legates with different roles and/or responsibilities. For more information about Dual Universe Organizations and what they will become in the future, check out the Devblog!
 
 
A “Legate” status is currently NOT reversible (it is planned to be reversible at some point though), so choose your legates wisely! What you do here matters, so be careful what you promise!

Hi Onethousandstars and Munney and welcome on the DU forum!
There are more landmarkians here than it may appear at first glance (some are very discreet )
Talking about other games is totally ok as long as it's not an obvious promotional campaign for it.
